The only science to Faith Healing … its not science … it’s belief !!
Faith healing is the ritualistic practice of prayer and gestures (such as laying on of hands) that are claimed to elicit divine intervention in spiritual and physical healing, especially the Christian practice. Believers will assert that the healing of disease and disability can be brought about by religious faith through prayer and/or other rituals that, according to adherents, stimulate a divine presence and power. Belief in divine intervention is derived from religious belief.
Claims that prayer, divine intervention, or the ministrations of an individual healer can cure illness have been popular throughout history. There have been claims that faith can cure blindness, deafness, cancer, AIDS, developmental disorders, anemia, arthritis, corns, defective speech, multiple sclerosis, skin rashes, total body paralysis, and various injuries. Miraculous recoveries have been attributed to many techniques commonly classified as faith healing. It can involve prayer, a visit to a religious shrine, or simply a strong belief in a supreme being.
Many people interpret the Bible, especially the New Testament, as teaching belief in, and the practice of, faith healing. According to Newsweek poll, 72 percent of Americans say they believe that praying to God can cure someone, even if science says the person doesn’t stand a chance. Unlike faith healing, advocates of spiritual healing make no attempt to seek divine intervention, instead believing in divine energy. The increased interest in alternative medicine at the end of the 20th century has given rise to a parallel interest among sociologists in the relationship of religion to health.
Faith healing can be classified as a spiritual, supernatural,[6] or paranormal event, and, in some cases, belief in faith healing can be classified as magical thinking. The American Cancer Society states, “available scientific evidence does not support claims that faith healing can actually cure physical ailments.”… “Death, disability, and other unwanted outcomes have occurred when faith healing was elected instead of medical care for serious injuries or illnesses.” When parents use faith healing in the place of medical care, some children have died that otherwise would have been expected to live. It was February 2003 ( Six months into my diagnosis ) and I was at MD Anderson Cancer Center, sicker than a dog and frightened out of my mind. This was my 6th center I had visited in a month and a half. I was exhausted, short of breath and running out of hope.
Looking back, I still remember a phone call from my mentor, Dr. Jerry Jampolsky, in the…. midst of my turmoil, he said ” Mark, as long as you are still breathing, I want you to remember God’s purpose for you. Start reaching out to people he said. Pick up the phone and start calling other patients and acquaintences whom are in a similar position. They need you.”
That phone call was a game-changer for me. It got my mind off myself. I have followed his advice since and it has made all the difference.
Dr. Jerry Jampolsky is a renowned child psychiatrist, author, and the founder of Attitudinal Healing. His wife Dr. DianeCirincione is the head of Attitudinal Healing International. After decades of building AH. centers all over the world, today-they are still at it, writing, traveling and spreading hope wherever they go. Their message of love and self healing has helped countless cancer patients like myself, stay alive. I am deeply grateful for their love, grace and selflessness over the years.
In his second book ” Teach Only Love ” he states:
I believe that there is another way of looking at life that makes it possible for us to walk through this world in love, peace, and without fear. This other way requires no external battles, but only that we heal ourselves. It is a process that I call “attitudinal healing’ because it is an internal and primarily mental process.
The mind can be retrained. Within this fact lies our freedom. No matter how often we have misused it, the mind can be utilized in a way that is so positive that at first it is beyond anything we can imagine.
This process of attitudinal healing has been a critical lifeline in my survival. Moreover, I have talked with many of Dr. Jampolsky’s patients who were given no hope of survival. ( they are my teachers.) I was impressed that many of them, including myself, were still alive using these concepts. We are all testimonies … to the concept nothing is impossible, if we give ourselves and our lives over to God.
In Cancer, Energy Healers, Healing Cancer Naturally on October 16, 2015 at 8:42 amWorking at my desk, I suddenly get the urge to feel under my arm—the lump. Distinct and concerning, I have my husband feel it too. Round two begins, September, 2014.
While my first instinct was to decline the biopsy, I decided that maybe I did need to know, that maybe it would help me to know how aggressive I needed to be in resolving the ‘situation’. Plus, without the biopsy, I am told, there was no way to know if this was a new cancer or recurrence (new cancer at stage one vs recurrence at stage three–but as it turns out, the biopsy was inconclusive) I was also inclined to decline the surgery, knowing this was not a good option (note to self—go with your gut in the future, it is smarter than the brain).
My surgeon agreed that opting out was a very good option. While it does seem like common sense that the removal of cancerous lymph nodes would improve survival rates, the evidence shows this is not the case and it causes far too much harm, further damaging an already sluggish lymphatic system—which can lead to lymphedema and more cancer. But then in further discussions, he said he could just remove that tiny spot, no need to put me to sleep, and that perhaps removal would help me sleep as I am the type of person who will remain awake, thinking, and thinking.
As a family, we had much on our plate, so heading off to Germany or Mexico right then didn’t seem to be the best option (albeit a good one); we considered holding off until February when the timing was better. Then for some bizarre reason (okay, I started to doubt my healing plan). I decided I would have the surgery (big mistake). To make a long story short, in November my surgeon removed ten nodes (note to all, never trust a surgeon, even a really good one!); five had cancer. Plus, I didn’t get much useful information from the pathology report, only that I was now stage three.
My well-meaning oncologist recommended chemo; my well-intentioned radiologist recommended radiation. I declined both.
Come January, I went for a follow-up sonogram, expecting to get the all-clear. Unfortunately, the radiologist found two more suspicious nodes nearby the excision. I declined the biopsy. I continued with my protocol and retested in April. The two nodes remained suspicious, but had not grown; an additional one was found. I declined the biopsy.
October 2015
Woo hoo! Sonogram shows that all nodes in the armpit are now clear! It seems my protocol is working.
I am incredibly grateful to all of my doctors and healers who while might not always agree with my choices, understand and support them. I will cherish the look on my radiologist’s face when she said, “Elyn, I was worried as you declined all recommendations, but whatever you are doing, keep doing it, it’s amazing!”
Elyn’s Motions and Potions
The Motions
For the 7 years since my original diagnosis I researched everything about cancer—why it develops and how to reduce risk. I juiced and ate to beat cancer. Under the guidance of my oncologist, I took copious amounts of targeted supplements.
My oncologist also said I needed to reduce my stress—he said my life would depend on it. He said likely something happened to me when I was five years old that was driving my cancer. When I went for some coaching training, I learned even more about how powerful the mind is, including the damage past emotional traumas can inflict on the body. At the time I couldn’t get myself to meditate or do yoga (which for the most part does not agree with my body), but I forgave all that have caused me stress and trauma. Little did I know that my subconscious was not onboard, that forgiveness only goes so far.
Needless to say, in September 2014, it all changed. I now fully realized that the root cause of my cancer was indeed emotional and I needed help.
Dr Ryke Geerd Hamer, a German physician and scientist, has studied and written much on how unresolved psycho-emotional trauma causes cancer. He believes that cancer occurs when the individual suppresses for long periods toxic negative emotions (primarily anger, hate, resentment and grief). This creates cell changes within the body leading to cancer. Other researchers have come up with similar theories supporting the idea that past traumas, including those of our ancestors, affect gene expression just like environmental factors, and leave molecular scars leading to cancer.
I wish I had knowns that beyond the field of white coats, is a world of healers, who for centuries before modern medicine, were the true healers—people who can heal these scars.
The Power of Healers
That September, I met a Ki-Energy Healer at a conference. He told me I was absorbing too much negative energy from others and that he could heal me of the cancer. I liked him, but he was only available locally one day a week; healing required three. I met another healer, he said the same thing. I had so much confidence in Ki healing, and after each session, the lump would shrink; but then the darn thing kept growing back. I lost confidence, but perhaps I should have stuck with it. Thinking back, I knew I could not manage the travel, so perhaps that was not meant to be my plan.
I also tried BioEnergetic Healing with Zev Koleman. I found this fascinating, but I did not notice a change. I did some EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) with Dr Thelma Jones, and found that very helpful in removing cancer-causing emotions. I worked with a psychotherapist, Dr Peter Resnik, for many months as we chopped through toxic emotions and through visualization and dream-analysis, worked on healing. I practiced yoga with a friend, who turned me on to Yoga Nidra (a form of meditation and guided relaxation). Sometimes we have to try many healing modalities before we find the right one for us. I credit all of these amazing people for contributions made to my wellness and will keep up with the techniques I learned.
When I tried Reiki, it was love at first touch. My Reiki Master, Brian Brunius, is nothing short of amazing. My stress melted away as I melted into the table. I also stumbled across Holly Hallowell, another great healer who with her Emotion Code and Anahata expertise, helped me to remove ties to emotional traumas that were contributing to pain, and likely my cancer as well. (Anahata Codes are assisting frequencies which add the perfect blend of vibrations needed to unblock, release and elevate energy to a place of perfection.) I also came across April Fontana (note to all, nothing happens by chance—always for a reason). April is an amazing clairvoyant psychic healer (The Oracle Method), and she has fixed my mind, body and soul. She has cleared my mind so I can think, opened my crown so I can sleep, and fixed so many physical issues I can’t count them all—but for example, this summer when I struggled with bouts of intense stomach pain and could not eat for weeks at a time, and my doctors could not find reason nor remedy, April repaired my raw stomach; problem solved. April also recommended I wear crystal bracelets to protect myself from negative energy, radiation from technical devices and more. While all of my ‘motions’ were very helpful and clearly played a role in my healing, I knew I had to narrow down my team of healers. Brian, Holly and April are clearly my ‘A’ team–I don’t know what I would do without them.
Here’s the recap of the Motions that helped me heal: (stay tuned for Part II, Potions)
Energy Healing (The Oracle Method, Emotion Code,Ki, and BioEnergetic)
Reiki
Psychotherapy, visualization
Rebounding
EFT tapping
Crystal healing bracelets
Oil pulling to remove oral toxins and bacteria
Yoga, meditation
Frankincense oil, applied to under my armpit and on the souls of my feet (more about this in Potions as I firmly believe this made a huge difference in my healing)
Making Elyn a priority, spending more time with friends, and having more fun!
Remember, something works for everyone, but everything does not work for everyone…. I share with you my story to give you confidence that there are many ways to heal from cancer–and to heal the reasons for that cancer.
I am incredibly grateful to all of my doctors and healers who while might not always agree with my choices, understand and support them. I will forever cherish the look on my radiologist’s face when she said, “Elyn, I was worried as you declined all recommendations, but whatever you are doing, keep doing it, it’s amazing!”
What do I do now? I will never let my guard down; I will continue with my protocol for the rest of life, likely with a few tweaks along the way. I know I still have much to do, but I will have more fun; I will laugh more and wear bright clothing (as suggested by team member Dr Resnik). I have forgiven myself (and my surgeon) for the choices made. I will continue to nourish my soul and not allow others to interfere with my happiness. I will never forget the importance of having a “Plan B”. While I hope I never need it, I know that it is important to have that in my pocket.

I catch grief and criticism many times for blogs not being my own. What I do with some is spread the word of information I find on the internet as I scope around looking for new research. When I seen the information in this link… I thought “why not” blog Dr. Linda White for the purpose in a blog that’s credible for building up immunity?
12StrategiestoStrengthenYourImmuneSystem Also Modern medicine can help if you get sick, but for the most part it’s up to you whether you maintain good health. If you want good health, here are tips to strengthen your immune system naturally. There are Many Ways to Prevent Cancer???
By Linda B. White, M.D.
Infections are as inevitable as death and taxes. You spend your first years catching colds, influenza and strep throat. You sniffle, scratch, cough, vomit, ache, sweat and shiver. Your immune system remembers the microbes it has encountered and protects you the next go around. At the other end of life, your immune system wearies from the years of fighting. In that great expanse of active, productive life in between, you still get colds and flus and “stomach bugs.”
You may wonder why you are sick more or less often than your partner, co-workers and neighbors. You may wonder why one person hacking on the airplane successfully sickens the passenger to his right but not the one to his left. The answer is that not all immune systems function alike. A number of factors affect immune system health. Some you can’t control: The very young and the very old are vulnerable.
Surgery and wounds give microbes a chance to sneak also into the inner sanctum. Other risks include chronic disease, poverty, stress, living with lots of other people (dormitories, low-income housing), and drinking tap water (with its local microbes) in many foreign countries. Fortunately, there are many ways you can strengthen your immune system.
1:Eat Like Peter Rabbit. Malnutrition impairs immune function. French fries, soft drinks and bourbon don’t build strong white blood cells either. No, it’s those virtuous, self-righteous diets high in fruits, vegetables and nuts promoting immune health, presumably because they’re rich in nutrients the immune system requires. Adequate protein intake is also important; the source can be plant or animal.
Medicinal mushrooms such as shiitake, maitake and reishi contain beta-glucans (complex carbohydrates) that enhance immune activity against infections and cancer and reduce allergies (cases of inappropriate immune system activity). While studies have focused on purified mushroom extracts, fresh shiitake and maitake (also called “hen of the woods”) mushrooms are delicious sautéed in a little olive oil.
One substance to avoid is simple sugar. Brigitte Mars, master herbalist and author of The Desktop Guide to Herbal Medicines, notes that sugary foods and juices impair immune function; research bears her out.
If you’re a new mother, breast milk provides essential nutrients and immune system components to your developing child. Compared with formula-fed babies, those that nourished at the breast have fewer serious infections.
2: Stress Less. When you’re stressed, your adrenal glands churn out epinephrine (aka, adrenaline) and cortisol. While acute stress pumps up the immune system, grinding long-term duress taxes it. For instance, psychological stress raises the risk for the common cold and other viruses. Less often, chronic stress can promote a hyper-reactive immune system and aggravate conditions such as allergies, asthma and autoimmune disease.
While most of us can’t move into a spa, we can learn to save our stress responses for true emergencies and not fire them up over stalled traffic, bad hair days and aphids on the begonias. Stress-reducing activities such as meditation produce positive changes in the immune system. Massage has also shown to improve immune function in studies of Dominican children with HIV. Quiet music can aid recovery from everyday hassles and may therefore buttress immune function.
3: Move Your Body. Moderate exercise discharges tension and also stress and enhances immune function. In a 2006 study, researchers took 115 obese, sedentary, postmenopausal women and assigned half of them to stretching exercises once a week and the other half to at least 45 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise 5 days a week. At the end of the year-long study, the stretchers had three times the rate of colds as the moderate-exercise group.
4: Sleep Soundly. Sleep is a time when growth-promoting and reparative hormones knit up the raveled sleeve of daily life. Sleep deprivation also activates the stress response, depresses immune function and elevates inflammatory chemicals (which cause you to feel ill).
Chronic sleep deprivation raises the risk of the common cold. Mothers whose small children interrupt their sleep have more respiratory infections, particularly if those wee ones go to day care. In one study, after researchers inoculated volunteers’ noses with cold viruses (a reward was involved), men and women who habitually slept less than seven hours a night were almost three times more likely to develop a cold than those who slept eight hours or more.
5: Socialize More. People with richer social lives enjoy better health and longevity than loners do. You may think that the more people you interact with, the more chances you have for picking something up. Not so. Again, researchers blew cold viruses up people’s noses and sent them into the world. Compared with the lone wolves, the social butterflies were less susceptible to developing common colds, and, if they did get sick, they had fewer symptoms for a shorter period of time.
Many of us count furred and feathered companions as friends, and it turns out they do us a world of good. Animals such as dogs and horses get us outside exercising. Stroking an animal stirs feelings of well — being, lowers blood pressure and, according to recent research, boosts the immune system. Researchers assigned college students to pet either a stuffed dog or a live dog. Those who petted a real dog had a significant increase in levels of salivary IgG, an antibody (immune protein) that fights infection. Those who petted the stuffed dog just felt silly.
6: Make more love. While having lots of friends is healthy, science also shows that intimate, sexual relationships have immune system perks. Michael Castleman, renowned health writer and publisher of Great Sex After 40, writes, “A 2004 study shows that the close contact of lovemaking reduces the risk of colds.” Specifically, this study found that college students who had sex …once or twice a week… had 30 percent more salivary IgA antibody than those who had sex infrequently.
7: Shun Tobacco Smoke. Tobacco smoke — triggers inflammation, increases respiratory mucus, and inhibits the hairlike projections inside your nose (cilia) from clearing that mucus. Children and adults exposed to tobacco smoke are more at risk for respiratory infections, including colds, bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis and also middle ear infections.
8: Consume Friendly Bacteria. Beneficial microorganisms colonize our intestinal, lower urinary and upper respiratory tracts. They outcompete bad “bugs” and enhance immune function. You can consume such bacteria in the form of live-cultured products such as yogurt, sauerkraut and kimchi. Probiotic supplements, available at natural food stores, may reduce the risk of antibiotic-induced diarrhea, viral diarrhea, vaginitis and respiratory infections.
9: Expose Yourself. Vitamin D plays a number of important roles in promoting normal immune function. Vitamin D deficiency correlates with asthma, cancer, several autoimmune diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis), and susceptibility to infection (including viral respiratory infections). One study linked deficiency to a greater likelihood of carrying MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) in the nose.
Unfortunately, nearly one-third of the U.S. population is vitamin D deficient. Because few foods contain much vitamin D, your best bet is to regularly spend short periods of time in the sun (without sunscreen), and to take supplements in northern climes during the colder months. Guidelines for the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D, currently set at 400 IU/day, are being revised. Experts predict that the new RDA will be about 1,000 IU/day (25 ug/day).
10: Choose Vitamin and Mineral Supplements Wisely. Studies link deficiencies of zinc, selenium, folic acid, and vitamins A, B6, C, D and E to reduced immune function. But scientists have yet to pinpoint …. exact levels of these nutrients for optimal immune function, much less whether dietary supplementation really helps the average, well-fed American. For instance, research on vitamin C for the prevention and treatment of the common cold has been inconclusive. Some micronutrients, notably vitamin A, can be toxic in overdose. Excessive levels of zinc paradoxically suppress immune function. A varied, plant-based diet and a good multivitamin supplement should meet your needs.
11: Immunize Yourself. Routine vaccinations have a huge impact on reducing, and in many cases nearly eradicating, a number of infectious diseases. Most immunizations occur during childhood. Vaccinations for adults to consider include …. yearly influenza vaccines, tetanus boosters, also the shingles vaccine for people 60 and up, and also the pneumococcus vaccine for people over the age of 65. For more information, check with the Centers for Disease Control.
12: Familiarize Yourself With Immune-Enhancing Herbs. A long list of medicinal plants contain chemicals that enhance immune system activity, including echinacea, eleuthero (also called Siberian ginseng), ginseng (Asian and American), astragalus, garlic, and shiitake, reishi and maitake mushrooms.
Garlic is the favorite choice of many. In addition to boosting the immune system, it’s anticancer and antimicrobial against a variety of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Key ingredients don’t survive cooking, add a clove or two of raw, minced garlic to meals just before serving.
When someone in my family sniffles, and I make an immune soup based on a recipe Brigitte Mars shared with me years ago:
Pretend you’re making chicken soup. Sauté onions, shiitake mushrooms and chicken, adding just enough water to keep the chicken from drying out.
Remove the chicken when it’s cooked and set aside. Add fresh vegetables such as carrots and celery. Cover with plenty of water. Toss in three or four astragalus roots (the pressed roots, also available in natural foods stores or from online herb retailers such as Mountain Rose Herbs and Pacific Botanicals). Toward the end of the cooking, add Italian seasonings (thyme, rosemary, oregano), which are tasty and antimicrobial, and the chopped, cooked chicken. Before serving, add fresh, pressed garlic (one to two cloves per person) removing the astragalus roots.
Please Note: I disagree with Dr. White on #11 and believe is should read as followed.
11. Immunize Yourself: “Systematic diseases such as children’s diseases, fevers and all infectious processes exhaust the reserves of vitamin C and often rapid degeneration of the dental structures follow… The slow convalescence from fevers, pneumonia, etc. is mainly due to increased requirement (of vitamin C) which is inadequately supplied at this time in the great majority of cases.
If the requirement happens to be greater that the intake for any reason, the patient declines into some fatal outcome such as heart involvement or a new infection is made possible by the low resistance. That is why pneumonia so often recurs several times in one winter in the same patient. It is a tragic fact that no patient is known to die until his reserves of vitamin C are completely exhausted. No vitamin C can be found in any of the tissues of a victim of an infectious disease.
When you consider what junk food, stress and toxins can do to your body you can determine why you should stay vegan when your diseased. One example of this is gluten, a protein so similar in shape to thyroid hormone it can mimic it and trigger widespread inflammation. Which can suppress thyroid function…. when this happens the best way to get rid of the toxins that can harm our organs is through high fiber veggies.
While Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM practitioners typically call on Chinese herbal medicine to fortify yin, there is a popular Western herb with yin tonification properties. Known to protect and support the liver for centuries, milk thistle is a true liver tonic. Milk thistle has proven in clinical studies to reverse toxic liver damage, protect against toxicity, while stimulating protein synthesis in the liver and help with the formation and growth of healthy new liver cells.
This combination of properties causes milk thistle to reduce inflammation and also nourish liver tissue. From a TCM perspective, milk thistle reduces liver heat and nourishes liver yin. Therefore, milk thistle is a reliable means of yin fortification. TCM believes if you keep cancer out of your liver you won’t die. So it’s wise to learn what to do to protect this vital organ!!
Being all our organs work in unison lets take a look at one of the more important organs we have in our body. The Liver which some consider the great detoxifier in our body. While Traditional Chinese Medicine TCM practitioners typically call on Chinese herbal medicine to fortify yin, there is a popular Western herb with yin tonification properties. Known to protect and support the liver for centuries, milk thistle is a true liver tonic.
Milk thistle seeds, consumed as a powder, tea, tincture or standardized extract, can be helpful for a healthy liver function. However, as a side effect can also work to increase the condition of the kidneys, spleen, gall bladder as well as the endocrine and gastrointestinal systems. Learn more about the benefits and how it might help you to break down fats more efficiently.
What milk thistle is:
Milk thistle is a plant that comes from the same group of flowers as the daisy. It is also called holy thistle, Marian thistle, Mary thistle, St. Mary thistle, Our Lady’s thistle, wild artichoke, Mariendistel (German), and Chardon-Marie (French).
The medicinal compound in milk thistle is silymarin, an extract of milk thistle seeds. It is an antioxidant that protects against cell damage. Silymarin contains 4 compounds, including silybin (the most active), isosilybin, silychristin, and silydianin. Most research has studied silymarin or its major compound silybin, instead of the plant as a whole.
Research into milk thistle and cancer!!!
Research in the laboratory has shown that milk thistle might help to treat some liver diseases, such as hepatitis and cirrhosis.
Researchers have tested silymarin and silybin in the laboratory in cancer cells. They found that silybin:
•May help the chemotherapy drugs cisplatin and doxorubicin work better against ovarian cancer and breast cancer cells
•May directly destroy prostate, breast, and cervical cancer cells
•May slow down prostate cancer cell growth
Research has also looked at silybin in animal cancers. Studies seem to show it can….
•Reduce the side effects of chemotherapy
•Make some chemotherapy drugs work better
•Stop or slow the growth of some cancer cells
•Block tumours from starting or continuing to grow
•Help to repair liver tissue
•Reduce bowel cancer cell growth in mice
A few trials have looked at milk thistle for people with cancer. A small randomised clinical trial in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia found silymarin reduced the harmful effects of chemotherapy on the liver without stopping the treatment from working. Larger trials are needed.
Some clinical trials have studied milk thistle or silymarin as a treatment for hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, or bile duct disorders. These trials have had mixed results. In one trial for patients with chronic hepatitis having treatment to boost their immune system, people taking silymarin had fewer symptoms and a better quality of life. The effects of silymarin in some early studies suggest that it might be helpful in preventing liver inflammation or liver cancer. But no published clinical trials have looked at silymarin … for preventing or treating cancer in humans.
A number of companies on the internet claim that milk thistle can help to detoxify and protect your liver. They also claim that it can help to protect other organs of the body such as the gallbladder and spleen. Some claim that it slows the growth of some types of cancer, including breast and prostate cancer. Although it is possible that milk thistle may play a part in treating liver disease and some types of cancer there is currently no evidence for this. We need a lot more research with reliable clinical trials before we can be sure that milk thistle will play any part in treating or preventing cancers.
Side effects of milk thistle:
Although taking milk thistle is generally considered safe, we would recommend anyone thinking of taking it to talk to their doctor first. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this herb.
When taken as recommended, people report few bad side effects from milk thistle or silymarin. Several large, carefully designed studies in patients with liver disorders have found that taking silymarin may rarely cause diarrhea, feeling sick, heartburn, or stomach upset. At high doses (more than 1,500 milligrams a day) it can cause mild allergic reactions.
Silymarin has been used in herbal remedies throughout Europe for thousands of years. How you take milk thistle: While Milk thistle supplements are made from the ripe seed, which is the fruit of the plant. They are available as capsules, tablets, powder, and liquid extract. Powdered milk thistle can be made into a tea. The usual daily dose ranges from 140 to 400 milligrams of silymarin, usually divided into 2 or 3 doses.

Hello Ken: My husband, Dan, diagnosed with Stage 3 Squamous Cell Carcinoma – Lung Cancer of the right lower lobe on May 29th, 2015. He had absolutely no symptoms and was actually trying to obtain surgical clearance for a neck injury he sustained from a fall in our home in February. The neck surgery was to take place on May 1st. A routine, pre-surgical, chest x-ray indicated a mass of 6 cm (about the size of a tennis ball) in the posterior lower lobe of his right lung.
Of course, the neck surgery was cancelled and a CT scan was ordered, confirming his primary care doctor’s suspicions. We were referred to an oncologist where a complete body PET scan, MRI of the brain, and a biopsy were ordered. Fortunately, the cancer was only found in his lung.
During May while Dan was undergoing all of these tests, I began researching absolutely everything I could get my hands on. I read “Recaging the Beast” and followed many of the suggestions offered there, such as …. replacing my cook wear with stainless steel, anything plastic was replaced with glass, and only fresh, whole organic foods were consumed except for the rare, occasional meal out. I even went as far as throwing out all of the chemically laden cleaning and personal care products, replacing with all natural products.
I scoured the cancer testimonial page and reached out personally to those that had lung cancer testimonies. And I researched every single ingredient in every single Plexus product. I knew cancer could not survive … in a properly oxygenated and alkaline body, and immediately upped his BioCleanse and XFactor. I shared the ingredient list with his oncologist whom recommended he NOT take the products during treatment as it would interfere with chemotherapy and radiation.
The one message I kept reading was “chemo kills faster than the cancer.” My Dan is 69, my love, my rock, and my Plexus why. I simply could not allow this to happen. Through my research, we made the educated decision to continue all Plexus products, and not only did we continue, we added even more to his day. We also added turmeric (fresh when I could find it) and baking soda and organic lemon water. Also during the chemo “training” consultation, we shared the ingredients with his oncology nurse who gave her blessing, confirming that we had made the right decision.
Dan began chemo on June 10th, and radiation on June 15th. He had twenty – five radiation treatments, and three rounds of Cisplatin and Etoposide chemotherapy. His chemotherapy was on a 28 day cycle and would last for three days with a booster shot on Day 4. During this time, his oncologist was always amazed with his results stating such things as, “You are doing stellar!” and “Keep doing what you are doing!” I honestly can’t say if his oncologist was aware of him using Plexus or not. The oncology nurses were definitely aware because I talk Plexus everywhere I go and even shared a basket of Plexus samples and catalogs with them.
As for side effects, yes, he has had some. The nausea would generally start on Day 2 and would last about four days, with full appetite returning on Day 5 but as late as Day 7. He experienced “metal” mouth but never to the point of having to use plastic forks and spoons. He did lose his hair, mustache and beard with some eyebrow thinning, but begin shaving two to three times a week after Round 2 of chemo. He never once vomited.
He did have fatigue and this would generally last a full week to 10 days. His weight remained consistent. His sense of smell was effected and this, too, generally lasted for about a week to 10 days. His blood work, including white and red blood counts and his platelets all remained in the normal levels. ALSO His blood pressure was perfect and his oxygen levels averaged 98%. His blood glucose levels were high on chemo days due to the steroids, but otherwise remained consistent.
In mid- August, we asked that the PET scan be moved up from September 8th and his oncologist agreed because of how well he was doing. The scan was completed on August 31st. The results were much better than any of us anticipated. The tumor had shrunk by more than 50% and had pulled completely away from the posterior chest wall and spine and back into the lung. The scan had also revealed that the tumor appeared to be dead. Round 4 of chemotherapy was canceled and the surgery to remove the lower lobe was scheduled.
Before I continue, Dan is using all of the Plexus products. He began with Slim in March, 2014 and I began adding products to his day shortly thereafter. Dan had been a smoker most of his life, starting while serving in Vietnam and quitting just before surgery. Last year after he began using Plexus, I did notice that his smokers cough was going away. A cough so terrible you wondered how he could breathe afterwards.
He also complained of pain in the area of his back where the tumor was found. We will never know how long the tumor had been there, because, like most men, he refused to see a doctor and was always “Fine”. I had always felt that he fell for a reason, and now we knew the reason. That fall and an apple fritter saved his life.
Dan had a right thoracotomy and right lower lobectomy on September 11th. He spent 4 days in ICU and was released from the hospital on September 16th just six days after surgery. Dan asked for his Slim just 24 hours after surgery. By Monday, even though he was still in the hospital, we resumed all products. His surgeon remarked that almost all of his patients remain in the hospital at least 10 – 14 days and said Dan was making his job too easy.
Also On September 29th, just four months after the official diagnosis, we received the pathology report. The official pathology report states “extensively (<99%) necrotic tumor” – in layman terms – less than 1% showed any signs of malignancy. During his surgery, thirteen lymph nodes were removed, none of which show any evidence of malignancy. Not only is he cancer-free, it had not spread. My husband, my love, my rock, is CANCER-FREE!

I emphatically believe that you can fight and win the cancer battle. You must be diligent, consistent, and refuse to take “NO” for answer….. SO In other words, if you believe you can and should, do the research, ask the questions….. then follow your gut and heart and JUST DO IT!!
In an earlier post, I raised the question of the mind healing the body. We know that this is possible because of the placebo effect, in which patients obtain relief even though the doctor has given them only a sugar pill, an injection of saline solution or some other innocuous substance. The placebo effect, contrary to widespread suspicion, is a “real” cure. Pain is diminished; symptoms are alleviated. However it depends upon deception. The doctor knows that he is giving a harmless substance; the patient doesn’t.
So the issue comes down to triggering the mind-body connection without being deceived. Is there a way for each person to influence his body consciously? We do this all the time, of course. You can’t lift a finger, throw a baseball or drive a car without translating a mental intention into a physical response. But when it comes to disease symptoms, the mind-body connection feels weak or nonexistent. Every sick person wants to get well. How can the mind help?
The body is in constant communication with the mind.
This communication benefits both the physical and mental aspects of being well.
When the placebo effect works, it’s clear all four aspects are involved. The patient’s mind cooperates with the treatment — trusts it. The body is aware of this trust. There is open communication, and as a result, cells throughout the body participate in a healing response. The healing system as a whole is incredibly complex and all but impossible to explain as a whole. We only know parts of how it operates, such as our knowledge of antibodies and the immune response to infection.
Yet somehow, for all its complexity, the healing system can be triggered by a simple intention of the mind. To be your own placebo, then, requires the same conditions that apply in a classic placebo response:
You trust what is happening.
You deal with doubt and fear.
You don’t send conflicting messages that get tangled with each other.
You have opened the channels of mind-body communication.
You let go of your intention and let the healing system do its work.
Clearly, everyone finds it easy to let go when a problem is small, such as a cut finger or a bruise. The mind isn’t interfering with doubts and fears. But both play a major role in serious illness, which is “why” a practice like meditation or going to group counseling can be a great help. Sharing your anxiety with others in the same position is one way to begin to clear them.
It’s also helpful to follow your instincts. Most of us deal with illness through misleading processes like wishful thinking and denial. Our fears lead us into the blind alleys of false hope. In such cases, the mind isn’t really alert to what the body is saying, or vice versa. The atmosphere is clouded. To trust what your body is telling you implies that you will take action to give it what it wants. Each body … wants different things … at any given moment, but at the very least our bodies do best without tobacco, alcohol, excessive medications and various chemical adulterants.
It’s also helpful to follow your instincts. Most of us deal with illness through misleading processes like wishful thinking and denial. Our fears lead us into the blind alleys of false hope. To trust what your body is telling you implies that you will take action to give it what it wants. Each body wants different things at any given moment, but at the very least our bodies do best without tobacco, alcohol, excessive medications and various chemical adulterants.
One way to become more aware of your body is to sit quietly with your eyes closed and simply feel the body. Let any sensation come to the surface. Don’t respond to the sensation, whether pleasant or unpleasant. Relax and be aware of it. Notice where the sensation is coming from. There won’t be one sensation or feeling only. You’ll find that your awareness goes from place to place, one moment noticing your foot or your stomach, your chest or your neck.
This simple exercise is like a mind-body reconnection. Too many people are in the habit of not paying attention to anything but the grossest signals from their bodies, like extreme pain, stiffness or discomfort. What you want to do is to increase your sensitivity and your trust at the same time. Your body knows at a subtle level where disease and discomfort are. It sends signals at every moment, and these are not to be feared. Even if you consciously ignore what is happening in your cells, there is a level of conscious information that is being exchanged just below the level of awareness.
Indeed every cell in the body knows, through chemical messengers, what every other cell is doing. By also bringing your conscious mind into the loop, you are adding to this communication. How? The body operates through two compatible aspects of the nervous system. One is involuntary…. and takes care of every process…. that doesn’t need your awareness. The other is voluntary, meaning that it responds to your awareness. These two aspects of the mind/brain are connected. You can switch from one to the other.
For example, if you are stuck in traffic and feeling stressed, your heart rate can increase involuntarily. Yet you can choose to go running, which increases your heart rate as the result of your intention. We know from research experiments: advanced yogis can alter involuntary responses at will, such as lowering their heart rate and breathing to very low levels or increasing skin temperature in a very precise way. As it happens, you and I have the same abilities, although we don’t consciously use them. You can be led through an exercise to make a spot on the palm of your hand grow warmer.
One can venture that the placebo effect falls into the same category. It’s a voluntary response we could use if only we learned to. The healing system seems to be involuntary. You don’t have to think in order to heal a cut or a bruise. Yet the fact that some patients can make their own pain go away when given a sugar pill they think is aspirin implies, very strongly, that intention makes a difference in healing. And we aren’t talking about positive thinking, but a deeper mind-body connection.
Your body and mind are meant to be a whole, and to ensure that they are, your whole existence is based on feedback loops. Body listens to mind; mind listens to body. Awareness is the link. Make no mistake: Every cell knows when you are unhappy, anxious or stressed. A cell’s awareness is expressed in chemical reactions instead of words. No matter. The message comes through loud and clear.
These are all primary things to pay attention to. Yet on a subtler level, bodies like to be spiritual. Bliss and ecstasy don’t belong in the souls of saints alone. They course through the body, bringing a sense of ease, lightness, alertness, energy and exuberance. Your cells feel all these things and want you to feel them too. How? By learning, day by day, to pay more attention to what your body is saying. As the layers of indifference, judgment and denial peel away, the underlying joyful life will emerge.
One of the most basic ways to be aware is by grounding yourself in the body. There is no mystery to it. Simply feel your body whenever you’ve been distracted. Let’s say you’re driving a car, and somebody cuts you off. Also your normal reaction is to be agitated or angry; you jump out of the calm, relaxed focus that connects you to the mind-body field. Instead of being overshadowed by this disruption, just go within and feel the sensations of your body. Take a deep breath, it’s an easy way to come back to body awareness.
Keep your attention on these sensations until they disappear. What you’ve done is cut off the stimulus response with a gap. A gap is an interval of non-reaction. It stops the reaction from fueling itself. It reminds the body of its natural state of harmonious, coordinated self-regulation. And that grounds you. It’s easy because harmonious self-regulation is the body’s ground state. Stress pulls you into another state of heightened biological response that triggers a flow of hormones, increased heart rate, hyper – vigilance of the sense and many other linked reactions.
But all are temporary; they are emergency measures only. If you allow the stress reaction to become a habit, however, disharmony enters the field of mind and body. The normal state of relaxed awareness tries to co-exist with the disrupted, agitated state of the stress response. The two don’t mix; they aren’t meant to exist at the same time.
Anytime you’re feeling distracted, overwhelmed, stressed or overshadowed, there’s a tendency to escape. The state of denial is an escape. Distracting yourself through overwork is an escape. Altering your mind with drugs and alcohol is an escape. What they all have in common is absence of awareness. You numb or distract yourself under the false belief that unawareness will help you, while being too aware will only increase your pain. In reality, the opposite is true. Awareness heals…. because awareness is the only thing that is truly whole and healing is fundamentally a return to wholeness.
Problems with diet, weight and body image begin in the mind, but as the body carries out the bad messages coming from the mind, it begins to mirror those messages and the beliefs that lie behind them. That’s why supermodels often get no happiness from their physical “perfection.” Indeed, the better their bodies look, the more obvious it is to them that they don’t deserve to have such a body or that it will betray them.
— Feel what you feel. Don’t talk yourself into denial.
— Accept what you feel. Don’t judge what’s actually there.
— Be open to your body. It’s always speaking. Be willing to listen.
— Trust your body. Every cell is on your side, which means you have hundreds of billions of allies.
Value spontaneity. Emotions change, cells change, the brain changes. Don’t be the policeman who stops the river of change by blocking it with frozen, fixed beliefs.
Enjoy what your body wants to do. Bodies like to rest, but they also like to be active. Bodies like different kinds of food that are eaten with enjoyment. Bodies like sex and pleasure in general.
In the book The Ultimate Happiness Prescription, these issues are dealt with in detail. The section on body awareness ends with three practical things you can do today. To get on the path to increased awareness, say the following to yourself and then carry your words into action:
1. I will make choices to maximize the energy in my body. My body is my connection to the infinite supply of energy in the universe. If am feeling lack of energy in any way, it means that I am resisting the flow of this infinite supply. I will ask my body what it needs and will sincerely follow its advice. The ideal state is to experience such lightness that I do not feel bounded by my body. It and the world are one.
2. Before I act on any emotion, I will consult my heart. My heart is a reliable guide when I trust it. It monitors the emotions of others around me. This helps me experience empathy, compassion and love. The heart is the seat of our emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence allows me to get in touch with my deepest self. It nurtures all relationships by reminding us to see ourself in others.
3. Lightness of being in my body will be my indicator of happiness. If I feel heavy or dull in my body, I will pay attention … because these feelings are signs that I am inertia and the dreariness of habit over the potential that every moment has for freshness and new life (NOTE: does this mean sense? he is the dreariness of habit?). The best way to replenish our body is to give it what it needs most, whether it’s sleep, rest, life-giving nourishment, the joy of movement or communion with nature.
HavingFaithisHavingTrustthatGOD won’t put you in a situation you can not handle. Also remember when your in a traffic jam of LIFE…. slowly but surely wins the race. Remember to keep LIFE is perspective …. it is what it is and happens for a reason. Maybe sometimes when your in line waiting… it because it’s meant to allow you time to listen to those around you. And it can be found either in that line talking to someone or something might be on the radio that you need to be listening too.

The average person uses only 20% of the nutrients in their food!
If allowed to deteriorate, a failing digestive system, polluted intestinal tract and diseased colon can cause serious illness.
When your digestive system cannot function properly or efficiently, toxins and waste products build up making a perfect breeding ground for harmful bacteria, sickness, and diseases. At the same time your body is not receiving the nutrition it needs to function at its maximum level. It has also been determined that the proper balance of bacteria in the intestinal tract for optimum health… is at least 80% beneficial bacteria and 20% harmful bacteria, but the typical person is just the opposite, with 80% bad and 20% good bacteria
It’s no wonder that the average person gets sick year after year with the same illnesses to which they should already be immune. In fact, some sources suggest that 70-80% of your immune system is located directly in your gut! Accordingly, it’s vital to ensure that your colon is not only clean and working properly, but that it is “housing” a good amount of the friendly bacteria that help keep your immune system strong.
Here are a few ways we can help our Colons 🙂
Water Inadequate hydration can lead to a build-up of toxins in the body … As those toxins are accumulating, the risk for constipation, bloating, gas, IBS and fatigue increases. If you’re trying to keep your colon healthy, try to drink eight eight-ounce glasses of water in a day to cleanse your body.
Exercise When you’re trying to keep your colon healthy, exercise is a huge part of the equation. By increasing your blood flow and circulation through exercise …. your colon (and entire gastrointestinal system) gets more oxygen. This may help ward off colon cancer and other diseases. Your fitness routine doesn’t need to be extreme. Stretching, also doing yoga or walking for 10-15 minutes a day is sufficient to help keep your colon healthy.
Don’tholdit
If you feel a bowel movement coming, head for the bathroom and let it go. If you try to hold it in, built-up fecal matter can release toxins into your body, which has the potential to cause diverticulosis and IBS. Regular bowel movements is one of the ways your colon keeps itself clean and healthy.
Fiber
Fiber-rich food is a great choice for a healthy colon. Eating a good amount (about 25-35 grams daily) of high-fiber foods like raspberries, bananas, prunes, peas, broccoli, beans, celery are a great start to cleanse the body. Other fiber-rich whole grains include brown rice. Fiber keeps food waste moving along your digestive track …. which helps your intestines stay squeaky clean and can decrease your risk for diverticular disease.
MaintainA HealthyColonwithProbioticsandFood
There are two easy ways to do this. The first is to take a Probiotic. This is a supplement that is specially designed to introduce more healthy bacteria to your body, which in turn diminishes the ranks of the unhealthy, putting the balance back in a positive state.
**
A second way to support the friendly bacteria in your colon is to feed them! You do this by ingesting foods such as whole grains like organic brown rice, organic oatmeal, quinoa, fruits, and vegetables that contain friendly bacteria-feeding fiber. Also by adding sprouts and fermented foods. Simply improving the friendly-to-unfriendly bacteria ratio in your gut can make substantial differences in your health, including improving digestive health, supporting the immune system, and restoring the friendly bacteria … that may have been reduced by the use of prescription medications such as antibiotics, pain meds, chemo, pesticides’, GMO, & processed foods.
This is Irene and when we learned of Walter’s diagnosis in November of 2011, we were devastated, and couldn’t understand why or how this would have happened to us. How could he have stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma when he went for a physical every year and always had a clean bill of health?
We sought expert opinions from top hospitals and specialists, all of whom recommended a stem cell transplant, with no guarantee of success. This process, not only, involved bringing my husband virtually to the brink of death with no certainty of an outcome, but also, would have a negative effect on me as his caregiver and spouse. We quickly realized that this was a serious illness, but at the time, were unaware of the emotional, mental, and physical factors that contributed to the manifestation of the disease.
Utterly overwhelmed and frightened, we told the doctors that we would take 3 months to decide. During that time we immersed ourselves in research. Through this research we adopted an alternative protocol where we made significant changes to his diet using alkaline water, also therapeutic essential oils, natural supplements and complementary therapies. We did not only wanted to get rid of cancer but also transform Walters life to create a powerful and lasting life. With just 5 weeks the indicators and testing methods started registering normal. We were so encouraged with these results we continued with the integrated alternative methods, and continued to see improvement several months afterward. In eight months time, the PET scan showed the cancer had not grown… but was dying, and his blood counts were normalizing.
One year out from his diagnosis, we were so blessed and thought that we were home free. We had successfully treated his entire body, but as I also mentioned, we were still unaware of the emotional and mental ramifications. Walter changed his diet, cleaned his food of toxins and put nothing but organic products into his body. However we did failed to recognize that the great emotional stress he was under was preventing a full recover.
What I learned through new friends I met and the research I did on different healing modalities was that …. our physical bodies manifest what’s going on at our mental and emotional levels. In my husband’s case, he was not willing to see the causes of the pain and anger in his life until his body quite literally forced the issue. As well the cancer was steadily dying and under control when he was bitten by a spider and developed a staph infection.
Despite a visit to the hospital after the presentation of the spider bite, he was assured that there were no serious affects that could compromise his bodily systems, yet he did continue to feel worse every day. Soon enough, he began to lose the peripheral vision in his left eye and it began to protrude outward, growing in size and increase in redness. After several ophthalmologists were seen, followed by a cancer specialist, it was finally determined the cancer had moved behind the eyes. As his left eye vision … had rapidly deteriorated in just five months from 20/20 to 20/80. The infection had reignited the lymphoma.
We were at a fork in the road, and faced with a decision. We had done so much work to get rid of the cancer, and the natural methods we were using were working, so we couldn’t imagine him takingchemotherapy and infusing his body with poison. On the other hand, he was losing his eyesight very fast, and we were worried that he would lose his eye totally. While the natural methods were always our first preference, the speed at which the eyesight was going was the factor that influenced us to accept the chemo.
When you open the space for true healing to occur, and trust your inner wisdom, you will find the strength you need to connect with all the right resources and take the right steps. He was able to realize that despite our misgivings, chemotherapy was the right course of action at this crossroad and accepted it with confidence and support of his alternative protocol to boost his immune system, it would help. Consequently, after just one chemo session, his eyesight returned to a normal, 20/20…
The full chemotherapy protocol — a total of six chemotherapy treatments once every 28 days for six months – was required, so he took all six. Because we had built up his immune system and fortified his body through natural means, he suffered only minimal intensity of the resultant side effects. He was able to tolerate and absorb the remainder of the chemo treatments with no long-term damage to his body and no hair loss, while he continued to work 27 hours a week. Additionally, no follow — up pharmaceuticals were necessary to counteract the chemo.
Around the same time, Walter acknowledged that there was a mental and emotional component to his illness and became open and agreeable to investigating and addressing this. It was then when he stopped completely resisting the investigation of his emotional stressors that his recovery quickly progressed. After just a few counseling appointments and therapeutic sessions, he was able to clear the emotional issues that were destroying his life.
While many possible roads exist on the path of wellness, knowing your options and following the inner wisdom that comes from a higher power are critical to good health. You’ll know the steps to take if you accept the truth that wellness comes from integrating your body, mind, and spirit. In order to get well and stay well, we urge you to consider all your resources.
For the physical healing, investigate the entire spectrum of natural possibilities, supplemented by conventional medicine and chemical interventions if absolutely necessary. At the mental and emotional level, be open to acknowledging the toxic situations in your life experience, and take steps to move them or shift your negative thinking around them in order to bring joy and good health back into your life.
There are many skilled and caring practitioners who can provide you with the tools and techniques you need. Seek them out and work with them, but remember that you are empowered, the one in control of your own destiny who ultimately drives your own outcome. And above all, remember your divine connection. ALSO, Like the famous Footprints in the Sand, know that there’s a loving presence in your life to carry you when you lack the strength to — go — on — your own, as you are never alone.
We have both learned many lessons that we feel blessed to share with you. I say “we” because as husband and wife, we traveled the road together, and this made the journey possible. We also connected with many other people who helped us along the way, many of whom we still are in touch with today.
We are happy to report: Walter remains cancer free since Aug. of 2013. We built this website to offer you support for whatever your particular journey is, and to provide you with access to many of the resources we used along the way. We wish you good health, joy and the blessing of time.
