Knowing What It Takes

A gerontologist is generally someone who does research in the area             of  aging.  Because aging  can be defined broadly  and everybody ages differently.  Researchers  from  a wide range of  fields – help  the aging       age – some aren’t physicians.  Such as psychologist, biologist and with    some  instances economist  who tell people  when to retire.  As with the Talmidic scholar Ben Azai said. “every man has his time.”

For those whom have great emotional support or regularly attend religious services  at least once a week  and have better survival rates.          In some studies,  those who lack community  and social ties were more   likely to die earlier in life  than those whom do have those connections.     Also outlook plays  an important aspect, as well as,  denying your age       and seeing yourself  healthy is key to success.

With your relationship with your doctor an added dimension as well.        Its important  to not allow your doctor  to treat you  in a colloquialisms patronizing manner  while  enjoying a visit.  A  physician  should  never ignore, interrupt or be dismissive of  your complaints, thereby, being to quick to refer test or prescribe a pill.  Thereby, before entering into their office be prepared  to organize your thoughts  and  articulate your chief complaint.

Prioritize your complaints, list the events leading to your event and    bring a list of  your medications.  Also be specific, be transparent, don’t allow them to talk down to you. Also never assume your medical record   will  travel  from  your  physician  to a specialist  and back again. While having your doctor make the time to go over it with you to make sure it     has been communicated correctly.

Miscommunication (or non communication) happens all the time and          it is your responsibility  to make sure your doctors are on the same page. The King of Care Transition is Eric Coleman at the University of Colorado. He has studied  the  myriad of  medical errors,  dissecting how – why older  people get into trouble when they move  facility to facility or providers.

With most of  his work being supported by John A. Hartford Foundation,  and  his  discovery  that the risk of  care transition can  often be prevented. In a related study,  medication discrepancies where three times more likely to be readmitted to the hospital within a month. With your doctor unaware 62 percent of  the time of  changes… the patient gets  tied up in the mix up.

Being this is a  fact: its always important to know much to do about the  it’s nothing. The American Federation  for Aging Research (AFAR), and on its  fabulous  site http://infoonaging.org/  has a huge archives of  evidence based answers to questions  about treatments of  which both naturally and conventional.  Also websites like Google Scholar http://scholar.google.com   and PubMed www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed  are vital resources.

While details to navigate the websites are sketchy and also complicated. Excellent  tutorials   http://scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar.about.html  for Google Scholar and www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/disted/pubmed tutorials  for  PubMed can be  found. Getting a hold of the articles on a subject of  interest is just a  first step in your healing process.

Its idea to know  quick references of  Medicare  and Medicare  which can   be  found at Kaiser Family Foundation  website www.kff.org/medicaid and www.kff.org/medicare or www.medicare.gov and www.medicaid.gov If it’s Eldercare  http://www.eldercare.gov/Eldercare.NET/Public/Index.aspx are great resources.  While its important  to  note some supplements ( folic acid, vitamin A can be detrimental, thereby, gaining it through beta carotene and folate in your diet …makes it wise to do your own research?

Brain Tumor Diagnosis

Primary brain cancer develops  from cells within the brain, whereas, cancer that spreads to the brain  from the lungs, colon, kidney or breast    are called secondary brain tumors.  A brain tumor ….is an intracranial  solid neoplasma within the brain on the central spinal canal. Which are created by an abnormal and uncontrolled cell division.

Usually  in the brain itself,  but can also involve the lympathic tissue,       the blood vessels,  the cranial nerves,  in the brain envelope (meninges), skull,  pituitary gland  or pineal gland.  Remembering the pineal gland          is the drivers seat when it comes to healing our bodies. The melatonin it produces is an essential part of  healing.

When the pineal gland is impaired,  it produces much less melatonin,      and therefore, we become sick and diseased. Therefore, with any type of cancer.  Studies have been released  showing  that people suffering  from cancer, usually have lower levels of melatonin in their bodies. Also some  studies show that hemp oil can raise the melatonin levels in our bodies.

Remember melatonin travels  to every cell in our bodies and is key to    good health. Hemp Oil promotes  full body healing  and raise melatonin levels thousands times higher than normal.  Also when  the pineal gland produces vast amounts of  melatonin, and cause “no harm to the body.”         But  it  is  very hard  on the conditions  your  suffering  from  and  indeed   can eliminate it.

Thereby,  as we age our body’s become acidified  and inflamed causing cancer to thrive in this type of environment. So always remember to have your body’s pH levels checked, and if  needed include a pH balance diet to your everyday life. While  also  including  such  items  like baking soda or lemon juice that can raise pH levels very rapidly.

So when  fighting cancers  like brain cancer  the  two major concerns,       as well with other types of  cancer is always  first consider pH Balance & melatonin levels.  When it comes  to brain cancer  another  consideration     is  a  substance  that  may enter  through  the blood brain barrier and kill cancer cells. With one such substance  you  may  want  to  research  being  curcumin and turmeric,  which  some  studies showcasing  its cancer cell killing ability. www.naturalnews.com/aronia  curcumin_brain_cancer

While always emphasizing  a detox program:  with Flor-Essence  from Flora  with  mangosteen  a  starting point.  And  other  power houses  also being Vitamin D3  & Calcium, rubbing Frankincense Oil into the head and souls of  your  feet,  Boswellia, Spirulina, Chlorophyll, Juice Plus capsules, organic coconut oilMaca RootHemp HeartsFlax seeds, Chia seeds  for  its  omega 3 content.  Also including Aloe Vera Juice/Liposomal vitamin C to boost your immune system and hearing your dying as not an answer!!!

Love, Release & Healing

Emotional  and psychological  factors  may be  the main reason why         some therapies work with some patients, but not with others. Releasing     past emotional hurts and resentment is definitely good and helpful with   any kind of  healing. However, it may not be enough ‘if ‘ positive  feeling remains missing so have cognizant of  mind over matter.

Learning to experience  feelings of  LOVE  as  a subconscious exercise, energy vortex and chakra in our aura. In order to feel this LOVE we must first stimulate  the heart centre’  by  focusing  our  attention  on  harmony  and balance.  Because of  the  specific location of  the  heart  centre’  these diseases in the chest area normally respond most readily.

Feelings  are energy  and energy  follows  thoughts  and  consciousness.    While becoming conscious of  our breath is one of  the easiest ways to build and generate a sensation inside our body and to keep our attention focused. Sit, lie and walk quietly and mentally  feel your breath as it gently moves in and out. Breath though your nose, become aware, of the significance of  the ever incoming and outgoing breath you take.

JOY is the Twin of  LOVE  in helping as to live a healthy and  fulfilled life as Fear is the opposite of  LOVE.  You can’t Love if  you  fear it and you can’t lead a joyful life if you don’t have a joyful sensation and this has everything to do with Bio-Energies. “This Vital Life Force”  is the ability to separate air molecules  that can be deposited  anywhere in the body  if  you concentrate on the healing process.

Powerful emotions such as pain, grief, disappointment, shame, anxiety, anger and longing.  Shocks  your  neural pathways  while  disrupting  your body’s natural energy flow making it near impossible to heal yourself. Also suppressed emotions  uses up a lot of  your energy which robs your body of the energy needed  for  vital  functions.  Therefore,  negative emotions taxes  your adrenal glands and uses up nutrients the body needs to sustain itself.

Energy has to move:  if  an emotion isn’t expressed (outwardly) it is than suppressed (inwardly.)  Through  frustration,  anger,  depression,  physical pain and anguish…. control issues,  emotional “shut – down,”  self sabotage, harsh self  judgment, low self esteem and unworthiness may develop. Hence we learn to cope  with the stresses of  daily life  by  feeling connected  and at peace with ourselves.

Here’s what we now know ….

  • An imbalance between your rational mind and your emotions will cause digestive upset,  constipation,  diarrhea  or digestive disorders.  That’s because your mental ‘digestion’ or assimilation process is mirrored by your body’s physical assimilation process….
  • Resentment  and bitterness are like acid in the body.  They cause inflammation and pain.  Stubborn, inflexible resentment goes to the knees and joints–the parts of your body that are designed to be open and flexible….
  • Arthritis is bottled-up hurt….
  • Cancer is a deep secret, hatred, guilt, or grief ‘eating away’ at you.  Breast and uterine cancer reveals  a lack of nurturing  or self – nurturing  in your life,  or  an  inability  to nurture others….
  • While back pain reveals feeling a lack of support.  Lumbar back pain points to lack of financial support.  Thoracic back pain  shows no emotional support  or love.  Middle back pain is carrying the weight of the past….

Learn more about physical symptoms

Negative emotions have a more dense, slower vibration and are ‘heavier’, so they sink to the lower parts of your body.  Your  legs,  calves  and  feet  store  much  of  your  trauma, resentment, jealousy, and emotional pain, both past and present. While speaking past & present involving a case  I have been following since February 2013.  Since the Gag Rule has been lifted in Socialized Medicine, why in hell does parents take a child to a hospital and that hospital end up with custody until present day?

Prevention Through Awareness

“If the bee disappears  from the surface of the earth,  man would have no more than              4 years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!”  Albert Einstein.

Those words  from Albert Einstein are a harsh reality …vicious quote.  While some of  us learn through others ….others get bitter because some      of  us  get better learning  from others…. with those thinking  he must be thinking  he’s  a  “great guru”  or  “Jesus Christ  our  Savior King.”  This website isn’t about playing doctor  and telling others how to live or also thinking I am the  Big Guy Almighty.

It’s  a website providing prevention through awareness,  while knowing your options on the internet about the different types of cancer. I built this website as a means to search through it and  finding the answers to cancer.  I know the content and where it’s located so it makes my search easier. But for those visitants entering into it…. they usually tell me it’s rather easy to navigate  for the  first time.

A website, I envision through great thought and insight  from taking the   time  to think it through.  For  preventing  cancer  can  be  through  no more then  finding a safer alternative to neonicotinoid pesticides. Neonicotinoids are synthetic variants of  nicotine  and used to kill insect pests,  applied as a seed dressing. These pesticides get into the pollen and nectar of crops which the bees  feed upon.

Neonics are nerve – poisioning pesticides that have drawn  from studies, that  found sublethal levels of  exposure could reduce bee population. While European countries are cutting back in neonics, and in the United States the E.P.A. is rendering a restriction of  their usage. May Berenbaum whom is an Entomologist  at  the University of  Illinois at Urbana – Champaign, said the pilot study is an eye opener.

She believes home gardners,  as well as others  should take responsibility    for the plight of  the honey bee. As a raging debate continues over honey bee health and a mysterious syndrome know as colony collapse disorder. While Berenbaum points out that the role of  neonics, which are found in bees that forage on apples compares to other types of  pesticides as well.

While other studies reported  that  other pesticides — such as a  fungicides called chlorothalonil and an anti – mite chemical called fluvalinate are more frequently  found  in bee pollen samples.  While also playing a bigger part in compromising  the health of  the honey bee.  The Take Away on This: should be that we should consider the long term detriment of  this before it becomes a catastrophic event.

As science continues to learn about compounds like resveratrol,  which is    a potent compound  found in red grape skins,  pomegranate,  the cocco bean of  raw cacao,  peanuts  and all types of  berries. While  also  having extreme anti inflammatory,  anti carcinogenic properties  and belonging to a  family of compounds known as polyphenols. It’s these polyphenols that are known to combat  free radicals.

Which is “why” extending life expectancy maybe one of  its many benefits.  While whole  food that feed on pollination  for their life expectancy might be in jeopardy with the demise of  the honey bee. The harsh reality may start to hit home  as  the rain  forest of  South America  is being depleted causing our harsh weather patterns.  The honey bee depletion…. may be another reason why the human race is killing the golden goose laying the golden egg.

Also remember Agent Orange?  The  2, 4-D chemical that’s commissioned by the United States to defoliate jungles  and destroy  food crops during the Vietnam War?  Where most veterans  weren’t aware of  its usage  because it wasn’t orange tinted in color, while the name arising  from the orange strip barrels the chemical was shipped in. A large body of evidence also indicates major health problems resulting  from  prolong  exposure including cancer, reproductive problems, neurotoxicity and auto immune disorders.

While we  know  2, 4-D  is devastating to the environment,  it is currently the seventh largest source of  dioxin pollution in the United States.  Thereby, when anyone  is dealing with any  form of  respiratory illnesses  like asthma or  agent orange exposures…. it’s always important  to detoxify  your bodily functions with supplements like Flor-essence or even more extreme measure seeking a Naturopath advising you on the importance of  OZONE Therapy.

Ocular Melanoma

Another cancer type  I didn’t cover  in my  18 Major Types top tag is                Ocular Melanoma.  OM  arises  from  the  pigment cells  (melanocytes)      that give color to the eye. In which tumors are quite rare diagnosed in approximately  2,000 – 2500 adults annually in the United States, this equates  to  about  5  –  7.5  cases  per million  people  per  year  and  for   those  over 50 years old,  the incident rate increases to around  21 per  million yearly.             T h e  E y e  A n a t o m y!!!

Similar  to melanoma of  the skin,  OM  is  little  understood  and  a         silent killer. In the majority of  cases, Ocular Melanoma develops very slowly  from the pigmented cells of  the choroid (chorodial melanoma.)     But it  also can develop  from  the pigmented cells  of  the iris of  the eye      (the pigmented area  surrounding your pupil), cilinary body (which is      the thin tissue layer responsible  for aqueous humor production) and/         or the choroid or posterior uvea.

It’s within the  choroid  or posterior uvea where  the vascular layer        of  the eye between the retina and the white outer layer known as the   sclera.  Is where the pigmented tissue  full of  blood vessels  nourishes           the retina.  It’s these three areas that’s collectively known as the uvea           or uveal tract, and OM can occur in any combination of  the three.

While Iris Melanomas  have the best prognosis,  melanomas of  the     ciliary body  have  the  worse.  Whereas, most uveal tract melanomas originate in the choroid; the ciliary body is a least commonly a site of origin with the iris the least common. Melanoma can also occur in the      thin lining over the white part of  the eye the conjunctiva or on the eye         lid, but this is rare.   P L A Q U E   T h e r a p y which is effective                                 Top  Ranked  U.S.  Hospitals  for  Ophthalmology!!!

Besides  the leading Eye Institutes  in the country, always research        your other options as well. Such as Immunotherapy, which heightens    your  immune system at The Cancer Research Institute. With  another  possibility being  obtaining a Naturopathic Oncologist,  well versed in supplementing  with  your  conventional  treatments.  While  knowing        the attribute of  Aloe Vera Juice,  Chlorophyll and also the research of          Dr. Lorraine Day M.D.,  her diet treatment  for  cancer especially with    carrot  juice.

With  the  sheer mention of  carrot  juice sending  some nutritionist               into a tizzy.  Like my x-Facebook  friend whom  factors in the glycemic   index over  the nutritional value over carrots.  As it takes three pounds          of  carrots to equal one soda pop (which I don’t include enough of them          in my diet.)  However, numerous studies have  found that a diet rich in carotenoids lowers your risk of  cancer. With supplementation coming    with mix reviews!

Whereas,  I  have  a  couple of  cancer  survivor  friends  on  Facebook          with a common denominator of  carrot juice in their diet. Beta-carotene        is  particularly of  importance  from  a  nutritional  stand  point  because    the body transforms only enough of  the crucial anti oxidant (vitamin A)    out of  beta-carotene  for the bodily need. If  the sugar content of a carrot concerns  you,  however,  their are always dark green vegetables as well.       As well as the best source  for chlorella is off  the coast of  Newfoundland.

Eliminating Bodily Toxins

Over  the  years…  your  body  has  become  resistant  to  weight  loss…          so what can you do. As you age your body overloads with toxins because      of stress.  Complicating matters:  hormones increase internal acidity and    the stress hormone “cortisol” becomes acid  forming to the body’s tissues.    As the body becomes chronically stressed the constant cortisol causes the body to become more chronically acidic.

Once more the toxins we breathe  and the water we drink acts as acids      in the body.  It’s these acids that have a corrosive effect in vital organs like the heart. So when the body detects these acids… it diverts resources away  from the non vital  functions. While such organs  as the liver becomes over  taxed with these toxins,  thereby,  it starts working overtime and the other functions take a back seat.

One of those  functions is producing enzymes that break down  fat which makes you become over weight. People think fat is bad in the body, however when it comes to acid  fat  is  doing  you  a big  favor.  The body accumulates fat as away of storing the excess acid it can’t process. Therefore, it’s  fat that  is damage control and a sign the body is trying to buffer acid build up.

It’s  these acids that damage glands:  acidity can impair the thyroid gland and  further disrupt  fat burning. While it also depletes… the pancreas which which regulates blood sugar  and when blood sugar swings the result makes it  easier  to gain weight…. a cascading effect  you  might  think.  Despite  the  seriousness of  acidity it can be easy to restore health.

The Key to Success:  fueling the body with alkaline  foods…. as your body becomes more alkaline.  Your  liver  is then corrected  and  it  starts  to  burn  fat, as the thyroid begins to  function properly your metabolism starts to rev up.  The pancreas is able to regulate blood sugar again and you start to  feel better, with energy to do the things you like and you become more active.

Also aim to  fill your diet  with 70 percent alkaline  food choices at  5 to 1 ratio ( vegetables to  fruit) because  fruit  can  be  acidic ….consume  fruit in moderation.  Therefore,  it is easy to determine your pH balance with a test strip like pHion Balance Diagnostic test strips….  first thing in the morning  or at least a hour after eating or drinking something.

If  your pH balance is low you may want to check with your doctor about supplementing with a calcium, magnesium & vitamin D complex. Which the  alkalinizing  properties of  calcium  and  magnesium  may  help  restore  the body’s  pH balance. While vitamin D ….ensures these minerals are properly absorbed.

Also  helpful  is  supplementing  with  500 to  2000 mg  of  L – Carnitine, which is a nutrient that’s the ultimate alchemist in your body. That’s helps you burn  fat to make  you have more energy. Experts advise starting with  500 mg daily,  while increasing gradually in  500 mg increments until you feel  more energy or you reach 2000 mg.  Do Your Research For The Brand Best Suited For You.

The Golden Ticket

Exercise is one Golden Ticket your body needs to prevent health issues           in  your Golden Years.  One reason  for this  is  because exercise is one of     the  most  effective ways  to regain  insulin  and  leptin sensitivity  while reversing insulin and leptin resistance. Which is key  to staying healthy, preventing disease and slowing the aging process.

But another reason exercise is regarded as a real – fountain of  youth.           Is when done properly  with intensely,  it will boost your body’s natural production of  human growth hormone (HGH), which is a  foundational synergistic biochemical, that addresses the serious muscle loss and also atrophy that typically occurs with aging.

While Intermittent Fasting has many of the same benefits, including dramatically boosting HGH,  optimizing  insulin  and  leptin sensitivity.   The controversy  isn’t  so much  over whether  or not  HGH plays  a vital   role  in  our  health  (virtually everyone  agrees  with  that.) Instead the controversy lies in the best way to maintain our body’s supply of  HGH.

Until recently  most experts  felt  the best way  was through expensive  prescription injections,  although some cost as high as $1500 per month.  Experts think  the use of  synthetic injections  may  upset natural human growth hormone production. Therefore,  other experts  may recommend natural alternatives like SeroVital – hgh. Which  is  a  far  less  expensive method at around $100 per month.

Here are 10 of the most effective ways to increase HGH production, naturally:

    1. High intensity burst training, which one’s heart rate bursts above their anaerobic threshold  (best established  by VO2 max testing)  for  30 second intervals  five or more  times  in  a  workout.  This engages super-fast twitch muscle fibers,  which release HGH naturally.
    2. Get adequate sleep. Getting 8 hours sleep @ night optimizes production of HGH.
    3. Melatonin. Take 0.5 to 5 mg of melatonin before bed. Melatonin has been shown   to  increase growth hormone levels by  up to 157 percent.
    4. GABA.  Take  1.5  to 3 g  of  GABA  immediately before bed.  GABA,  or gamma aminobutyric acid, has been shown to increase growth hormone production by   200 percent.
    5. Eat high quality protein. Consume a high-protein, low-carbohydrate snack before going to bed. The amino acids will help to boost HGH,  while  avoiding  too  many carbs will keep insulin levels low  so  that  it cannot inhibit growth hormone from doing its work.
    6. Optimize Vitamin D levels at 70-100 ng/mL.
    7. Avoid sugar after workouts. Consuming sugar (especially fructose) within 2 hours post workout  will  cause  your  hypothalamus  to release somatostatin,  which will decrease your production of HGH. Simple sugars that are high-glycemic also spike insulin levels. Not only does this lead to body fat storage, but it severely decreases the release of growth hormone.
    8. L-arginine and L-lysine. The combination of these two amino acids together before exercise and sleep has shown to increase growth hormone production by up to 700 percent. Take 3 to 5 grams for optimal results.
    9. Glutamine. Take 2 to 10 g of glutamine after a workout or before bed. Glutamine may  boost  HGH  levels,  according  to  a study conducted  by  researchers  at  the Louisiana State College of Medicine. They discovered that subjects consuming 2 g  of glutamine experienced increases in HGH levels. Their findings were reported in the 1995 issue of “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.”
    10. Alpha-glycerylphosphorylcholine, or A-GPC, might increase HGH levels, according to  a study published in  September 2008 issue of the  “Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition.”  Researchers at the Center  for Applied Health Science Research observed  subjects taking 600 mg  of  A-GPC  two hours before resistance exercise had higher HGH levels post-exercise compared with those who consumed   a placebo.

GOD Bless the Child

Even  at  times  the  name of  this  website  is  criticized,  however,                 the Solitarius Stem is the nucleus in the brain that provides you with understanding and taste.  In  some  ways,  that’s what this website is            all about. Which is it provides the visitant of  this website prevention through awareness/knowledge. Its a centralized hub of  information  showcasing the options  for cancer.

Much like the card game Solitaire which my  father so dearly loved,                if  you keep dealing the hands  you have a chance to win on your own. Yesterday, I had a  friend of  Solitarius…. Angel approach me about a suggestion…. can  you  spotlight  a  blog  post  for  Childhood  Cancer.            In turned,  I  linked  her the Childhood Cancer Top Tag  than  thought       “why not.”  Cancer is such sadness but when it happens to a child it’s  dreadful, therefore I began to research vital information.

Cancer in a child is very different  from cancer in an adult, as many        adult cases can be attributed to diet  or lifestyle  factors  as the trigger          to cancer growth. In children, cancer is generally due to predisposing genetic conditions. While some childhood cancer cases are also due to environmental exposures and immune suppression, still others maybe     from a mother that smoked or the usage of  a plastic baby bottle?

Some of  the  other  exposures  that  can lead to a child with cancer is radiation exposure, quite possibly electromagnetic  fields  and parental exposure  to chemicals  such  as  pesticides,  solvents,  heavy metals  and  petroleum based products.  Or also getting a lawn treated, walking on it   and bringing it into the house/pushing a baby stroller by the exhaust of        a car in a parking lot.

The most common types of  childhood cancer in children are leukemia, brain tumors,  neuroblastoma, and non – Hodgkins Lymphoma. With the symptoms including unexplained weight loss,  headaches  with vomiting, persistent pain in the bones , a lump or a mass, excessive bleeding or also bruising,  an unexplained rash,  constant  infections  and  or also  fatigue, sudden vision changes,  persistent nausea and unexplained  fevers.

If  a child is diagnosed with cancer…. Naturopathic Medicine can help support their bodies. Naturopathic Medicine can reduce side effects, while supporting the immune system, reduce weight loss and  fatigue, therefore, Naturopathic physicians can treat neuropathy (numbness & tingling) and hearing changes, as well as mouth sores and radiation burns.

When pairing conventional oncology  with naturopathic medicine you    as  a patient gets the best of  both worlds.  While your child completes their treatments in also timely manor  and maintaining  some health throughout that treatment. Naturopaths support children with vitamins, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and even IV therapies. Naturopathic medicine can be helpful in choosing which  foods to  focus on during treatment.

Once the child has completed treatment, naturopathic medicine supports the body returning to optimal  functionA  Naturopath Oncologist  can help  reduce long term side effects from treatment. If  you are interested in finding a naturopath specializing in oncology…. that can support…. your child with cancer.  Please visit: www.oncanp.org  and you can also  find vital resources for helping you pay at www.melonhead.org and www.lucyslovebus.org  🙂

Is It Science or Faith

Scientist once assumed the heart shrank or simply wore out with age.        But they now know the aging hearts actually adapts over time. That the heart responds  to  changes occurring  within  the  aging cardiovascular system.  Which comprises,  not only,  the heart,  but also,  the  large  and small blood vessels throughout the body making the heart vulnerable.

Your body’s capacity  for strenuous exercise decreases  by  about 50 percent between your 20’s and 60’s. About half  this decline is due to the physical changes taking place  in the heart itself. Your heart doesn’t just weaken with age, it actually adjust over time to response to the stress of pumping  harder  as  your  arteries  gradually  stiffen  and  becomes less elastic.

For example, the walls of the left ventricle become thicker so the stress       on that muscle  is spread over a larger area.  The  first noticeable results       are a lower maximum heart rate and lower cardiac out put. Which is the amount of  blood pumped.  As a result, less oxygenated blood can also be pumped  through the body,  and  you  may  begin to  feel  short of  breath when you exert yourself  by climbing stairs.

Like many other aspects of  aging, these changes in the hearts capacity  occur  at a very individual rate.  With the recent advances  in a variety of diagnostic techniques,  researchers have been able  to see inside the body    to better understanding  how  aging affects  your  cardiovascular system and specifically your heart.

As  the  cardiovascular  system ages  along  with  the  rest  of  the  body.   The walls of your arteries gradually become less elastic, and consequently become stiffer and less responsive.  As a result,  your arteries can not relax as quickly  after your heart pumps blood. Which results in increased blood pressure  as the blood pressure valves  in the heart thicken  and relax more slowly.

To keep the blood moving effectively  your heart adjusts with structural changes.  Individual  factors  such as the elasticity of  your arteries  and the diameter of these vessels. Which may have narrowed over the years because of  plaque buildup, all contribute to the workload your heart must overcome during each heart beat.

The process of  atherosclerosis,  and the accumulation of  fatty deposits of plaque in the walls of  the arteries, has been occurring since your childhood. The extent of  atherosclerosis is largely dependent upon your  family history and lifestyle choices  that’s related to diet  and exercise over time.  Research, indicates  regular aerobic exercise  will  reduce  your  chances of  developing heart disease.

While lessening your chances of  developing blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes  and  obesity — all  major,  yet  controllable  risk  factors  for  heart disease. When you’re active enough to raise your heart rate… you decrease the amount of  adrenaline in your body. Less adrenaline means more relax blood vessels, a slower pulse rate, lower blood pressure and ultimately less strain on your cardiovascular system.

In addition,  exercise  reduces  the  amounts of  harmful  LDL cholesterol that your body produces and helps raise the HDL cholesterol. Which in turn will help keep your arteries clear of  plaque.  Therefore,  you can start to see being physically active  really  does affect your health in  a variety of  ways. Moderately intense  to vigorous exercise,  will  give  you  more energy while making you  feel better about yourself.

An on going exercise routine helps you reduce stress,  encourages restful sleep and delays the affects of  aging:

Pain Management & Depression

Hello to all,  My  name  is Nikki Meysenburg  and this is my story.                     I was asked to write my thoughts and  feelings about the devastating     illness called cancer and the depression that follows. Yes cancer, now     while  I don’t  have  first – hand  knowledge of  this  illness.  I do  have experience being in unrelenting pain 24/7/365  for the past 12+ years.

I have battled pain,  depression,  suicidal thoughts,  becoming a medication zombie  psychological-side-effects-of-anti-depressants-worse-than-thought-23193 and a host        of  other  things…. due to the many medical conditions…. I have been diagnosed with.           I have decided to include some background.

I have been diagnosed  with  the following:  Fibromyalgia,  Chronic  Pain  Syndrome, Sciatica,  trochanteric bursitis,  spinal stenosis,  degenerative disc disease,  and I have herniated and bulging discs in my cervical spine,  my thoracic spine, my lumbar spine   and even in the sacral area. So  believe  me  when  I  say, “I do understand about what      pain does to you.”

I  have  had  the  following  procedures  done  to  me:   Spinal  fusion  in  C3,  C4  &  C5,        and had radio frequency neuropathy.  Which is burning of the nerves in the facets in the lumbar region. I have been injected with radio-active isotopes for bone scans, to scan my gall bladder  which  has been removed.  I have been subjected to CT Scans,  Myleograms, MRI’s, epidural steroid injections, trigger point therapy, physical therapy, water physical therapy, have been injected with cortisone, acupuncture, you name it I have had it done.

The medications that were prescribed to me are as follows: oxy-Codone, LorTab, Flexeril, Neurontin, Gabitril, and Ambien. In addition to all the ones I had to take, I can no longer  remember that ones that had to be taken daily.  The dosages were at almost,  if not at the maximum dosage allowable by law.

I have thought  about what cancer  is  for a long time  as I have family,  friends  and even   co-workers who have had to deal with this horrible disease  and I have been privy to some of their pain.  I find that people all react differently to this diagnosis,  some take it straight on. While others slowly work their way through it, with faith and then unfortunately those  who are not able to overcome the diagnosis because it came too late. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iksA-DD3990

The instant that word crosses  your doctor’s lips your world changes.  I am not going to    get technical, because you have been bombarded already by “medical information”,  nor am I  going to say,  “my way  is the only way  because we all have to find  what helps us.”    As there are so many different people there are also so many different ways to overcome pain,  depression,  illness… et cetera.

What  I do know  is  that  we  must  be there for each other,  helping  celebrate the good,     allow  the tears to flow when things go wrong and just be supportive of each other. I have listened  and also  researched,   http://www.hightimes.com/read/biologist-explains-how-thc-kills-cancer-cells tried new ideas out and have found three things that have helped me overcome all of the medical issues I deal with daily.  These are not  “new”  ideas,  but ones that have always been there, we just forgot where to look. So here are the three things that I have found helped me physically,  emotionally,  spiritually,  and mentally.

The first thing is to find something  that makes your heart  and soul sing. Whether it is    painting,  reading,  gardening,  cooking,  sewing,  dancing,  singing,  fishing,  swimming,  or just walking in the woods. Whatever it is that… makes you smile, then do it, when you can.  On days the pain  and nausea is overwhelming then meditate,  laugh,  rest  and give your body time to heal.

Take what is destructive  and turn it into  something constructive.  Feed  your creative energy. I know it is not always easy to do, please believe me, but even on “bad” days you can listen to music or read. Learn a new language, help out someone who needs it, listen  to an elderly person, not only will it make them smile it will make you smile as well. The power of the mind is amazing and it will help you to heal, if You Allow it too. Remember also do what makes You happy and makes your heart fill with happiness.

The next step of course your diet. http://www.beliefnet.com/Wellness/Galleries/Food-Kinetically-Engineered-to-Stir-the-Soul.aspx#tjSsIyVLEtRKTqLu.01  It’s  the  old adage “You are what you eat”  holds true,  especially  in today’s food markets.  So with all of the things wrong with me, I have found that by changing my eating habits and eating organic foods this has allowed me to get off the medications.  Please understand that I am in pain every day but now I manage it, not the pills.

While its the chemicals,  pesticides, GMO’s, artificial sweeteners that are all being found toxic to your health; even fluoride is coming under closer scrutiny.  In order to be healthy you must eat healthy.  Good, clean, organic foods must be the fuel you use to stay healthy. http://www.psypost.org/2014/02/psychological-side-effects-of-anti-depressants-worse-than-thought-23193  There  are  many  instances  when  people  who have stopped eating commercially grown food and gone back to organics have had less pain issues. Your body can heal itself but not if you keep putting toxins back into it.

There  are  cannoids,  cannabis,  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iksA-DD3990  turmeric,  blueberries,  Omega 3’s,  vitamins,  detoxification  kits,  juicing…. et cetera.      You can find what works for you.  Do not be afraid  to try something new  that actually might help. As we are all different the cures are just as different. Talk it over with your medical provider. Ask questions and if you do not like their answer ask another doctor.      It is about turning this horrible diagnosis into something that is not a death sentence.

This last step:  I try to do every single day.  This is to laugh often, when you are ready.  Once again the old adage “Laughter is the best medicine” holds true. When you laugh a chemical reaction  goes through your body,  your immune system gets stimulated,  and    as we know this is what fights off the, (as I tell my grandchildren) the “bad germies” or germs.  It  brings  a glow to you,  even helps send out endorphins  which helps fight off   the  “pain”.

We  are  an amazing species,  we have the capacity  for unimaginable feats of greatness,     and one of them is our ability to heal.  I hope this helps, and please I am in no way trying  to be little Susie Sunshine.  As I cannot imagine in my wildest dreams  what all of you are going through.  I just know after 12 years of unrelenting pain, surgeries, embarrassments, these procedures…. have helped me more…. than any of the medications they gave to me. http://www.oprah.com/How-to-Relieve-Chronic-Pain-Naturally-Natural-Painkillers.

Thanks  Nikki….  For Being A Member 0f  The Soul Tribe….  You  Inspire  Me  Daily  🙂
