UNVACCINATED/VACCINATED AMERICANS DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPREAD, INFECT, AND KILL OTHER AMERICANS WITH COVID. With all the flaws of the CDC, at least the most recent definition makes sense. Otherwise, what term would we use for shots that give protection but not immunity? Especially considering most shots do not grant immunity. Because immunity is a strong absolute term. Vaccination has generally been understood to mean that the vaccine confers immunity. Since none of the C19 jabs do that, it would perhaps be more appropriate to refer to them with the broader term “inoculations” rather than change the commonly understood definition of vaccination. There are – and have been – almost no vaccines that give perfect immunity.
I don’t know about you, but if I cut myself on a rusty fence, I’m kinda hoping my DTAP vax provides immunity to tetanus rather than protecting me from severe symptoms. We call them SHOTS. Always have, always should. Rewriting the vx definition to include these SHOTS does not make you safer or better protected. It’s a sales technique for compliance, words mean things.
SCIENCE doesn’t “learn” as it is not sentient as it is simply a process. The SCIENTISTS have changed the terms to fit the current narrative. “learns” that a rushed vaccine based on a new, never-before-successful technology with limited efficacy in real-world data is now the new standard for vaccines that have existed for 100 years with real efficacy/immunity demonstrated over decades.
Lowering the bar is not learning The vaccines were “rushed” because Covid is an extreme situation. The technology has been studied for DECADES, and all those years of research have paid off with at least 2 different effective vaccines that use mRNA technology. mRNA has been studied for decades, no doubt. However, it never made it past phase 1 clinical trials until the fast track. You can apply that bs excuse on anything. I could use that as an excuse to change the meaning of the definition of your speeding ticket and lock you up for 40y cause in this day and age we believe speeders are basically Hitler.

You just don’t understand what this is all about. The CDC is not the Oxford dictionary for Einstein. Their definition is meant for legal frameworks and accountability and the policies that follow. Just like the legal framework for the definition of misdemeanor or a crime. Vaccine mandates are imposed on the basis the vaccine prevents infection and spread, when it doesn’t. So,there should be no vaccine mandates whatsoever.
Science doesn’t learn. Science is a process. The change in language represents the loosening of a definition in order to include treatments as vaccines that wouldn’t have normally qualified. But the definition changed. And it changed to make the COVID vaccine fit the definition of a vaccine. These COVID vaccines do not provide immunity, which is why we will never have herd immunity. So from around 1796 to 2015 (219 years) on this subject, SCIENCE did not learn anything, didn’t adjust the definition and model but got so good at learning in the last 6 years it adjusted and changed definitions twice. Nothing to see here, move along… The change in language is due to the fact the SCIENCE is proving SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are consistently failing to meet their existing definition of a vaccine.

Name an instance where science decreased a meaning to make a broader range of things included? Science, in this instance, would have started with protection and increased specificity to immunity. Politics is what makes words’ meanings more vague. What is more logical: changing the definition of a commonly understood word used for decades, or defining the Covid shot as something other than a vaccine, as prophylaxis perhaps (at best)? No one gets excited about Covid prophylaxis though, it doesn’t sound as good as a vaccine. Because the public thought that the vaccine would provide immunity up until very recently when the truth of the matter became too big to ignore. So tired of “Ministry of Truth” hit-and-run rhetoric. This constant undermining of institutions is detrimental to everyone. Enough with flooding the zone with shit. Enough with the firehose of falsehood. Not all vaccines – even pre-2015 – used the targeted pathogen, itself. Some of them used the proteins or toxins that the pathogens produce in order to trigger the immune response.
Regardless, the process is the same, even if the vehicle that triggers the immune response varies. You are not serious.

It is gene manipulation. Some vaccines actually prevent you from getting the infection. The Covid vaccine does not prevent you from getting it. Vaccines are an ATTEMPT to induce the immune system to generate antibodies. Immunity is more complicated. But vaccines are often useful in the attempt to generate immunity. Some are better than others. As a physician I believe they picked a very poor choice of antigen.
The definition changed from creating “immunity” to providing protection. All past vaccines created immunity. The fact you don’t understand this change, since these new “vaccines” don’t create immunity, screams ignorance.

It’s *because* the vaccinations you took as a kid are taken by everyone, not only half the population like the COVID vax. Slow uptake on mandates was why smallpox kept killing 20-30% infected endemically for decades after the vaccine became readily available. Learn from history.

You should look into how vaccines work. They don’t guarantee an individual absolute protection. They reduce the chance of contagion and the severity of illness. That’s why they require such a high participation rate. Covid Vaccines do not guarantee an individual immunity from disease. It significantly reduces contagion and risk of serious illness. When nearly everyone takes it, the disease stops being a serious public health risk. That’s how all vaccines work.

However, when groups of people don’t take the vaccine, there can be an outbreak, which can create another health crisis. So what do we get out of taking the vaccine? Freedom from the disease. Freedom, that you ostensibly want. To keep measles at bay, 95% of a population needs to be vaccinated. When that dips, outbreaks happen. We know how important it is to prevent outbreaks of the measles. So what did we do about it? We created vaccine mandates. They work. So, we are using them now.
The situation with covid is no different. It’s just that a bunch of people that don’t understand anything about the science or history of vaccines have deluded themselves into believing remaining unvaccinated makes them some sort of freedom fighters. Why isn’t this vaccine making covid go away? Why are there breakthrough cases? It’s because not enough people are taking it. People are blaming the unvaccinated because it’s literally their fault. If you don’t take it because you think it doesn’t work, you’re the reason it won’t.
This isn’t true no matter how many times you say it. Yes, if the vax is perfect (one time shot that prevents infection/spread) then you are correct. The covid vax is a leaky vax (doesn’t prevent infection/spread). There will be cases even if 100% of people have one Vaccine and Natural immunity is the key! Think about when people had measles or mumps as a kid… they didn’t get it again, because of natural immunity and still to this day have natural immunity against them. It doesn’t.

You can still spread the disease whether you’re vaccinated or not. It REDUCES the chances. That’s how vaccines work. And when enough people take it, the chances are so greatly reduced, that the disease stops being a crisis. That’s how vaccines work.
