Much remains unknown about the novel coronavirus ripping through China, but one thing is certain. The disease can cast a storm over the whole human body. Such has been the nature of past zoonotic coronaviruses, ones that hopped from animals to humans like SARS and MERS. Unlike their common-cold-causing cousins, these emergent coronaviruses can spark a viral-induced fire throughout many of a person’s organs, and the new disease—dubbed “COVID-19” by the World Health Organization—is no exception when it is severe.

That helps explain why the COVID-19 epidemic has killed more than 1,800 people, surpassing the SARS death toll in a matter of weeks. While the death rate for COVID-19 appears to be a fifth of SARS, the novel coronavirus has spread faster.

Confirmed cases rose to more than 60,000 last Thursday, nearly a 50 percent jump relative to the prior day, and the tally has since increased by another 13,000. This leap reflects a change in the way Chinese authorities are diagnosing infections instead of a massive shift in the scope of the outbreak. Rather than wait for patients to test positive for the virus, diagnoses now include anyone whose chest scan reveals COVID-19’s distinctive pattern of pneumonia.

This method will hopefully allow authorities to isolate and treat patients more quickly.
If this outbreak continues to spread, there’s no telling how harmful it could become. A leading epidemiologist at the University of Hong Kong warned this week that COVID-19 could infect 60 percent of the globe if left unchecked.

On Monday, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention released clinical details on the first 72,314 patients diagnosed through February 11. The report shows that COVID-19 killed 2.3 percent of patients, meaning it is currently 23 times more fatal than the seasonal flu. Severe disease and deaths were reported in every age group, except kids under nine years old.
Meanwhile, countries have been scrambling to evacuate their citizens from a cruise ship that’s been quarantined off the coast of Japan. The Japanese health ministry announced Tuesday that an additional 88 passengers on the ship were diagnosed with COVID-19—bringing the total to 542. Of the more than 300 Americans who have been repatriated from the ship, 14 have tested positive for the coronavirus.

But what actually happens to your body when it is infected by the coronavirus?
The new strain is so genetically similar to SARS that it has inherited the title SARS-CoV-2.
So combining early research on the new outbreak with past lessons from SARS and MERS can provide an answer.

The Lungs: Ground zero
For most patients, COVID-19 begins and ends in their lungs, because like the flu, coronaviruses are respiratory diseases.

They spread typically when an infected person coughs or sneezes, spraying droplets that can transmit the virus to anyone in close contact. Coronaviruses also cause flu-like symptoms: Patients might start out with a fever and cough that progresses to pneumonia or worse. After the SARS outbreak, the World Health Organization reported that the disease typically attacked the lungs in three phases: viral replication, immune hyper-reactivity, and pulmonary destruction.

Not all patients went through all three phases—in fact only 25 percent of SARS patients suffered respiratory failure, the defining signature of severe cases. Likewise, COVID-19, according to early data, causes milder symptoms in about 82 percent of cases, while the remainder are severe or critical.
Look deeper, and the novel coronavirus appears to follow other patterns of SARS, says University of Maryland School of Medicine associate professor Matthew B. Frieman, who studies highly pathogenic coronaviruses.
In the early days of an infection, the novel coronavirus rapidly invades human lung cells. Those lung cells come in two classes: ones that make mucus and ones with hair-like batons called cilia.

Frieman explains that SARS loved to infect and kill cilia cells, which then sloughed off and filled patients’ airways with debris and fluids, and he hypothesizes that the same is happening with the novel coronavirus. That’s because the earliest studies on COVID-19 have shown that many patients develop pneumonia in both lungs, accompanied by symptoms like shortness of breath.
That’s when phase two and the immune system kicks in. Aroused by the presence of a viral invader, our bodies step up to fight the disease by flooding the lungs with immune cells to clear away the damage and repair the lung tissue.
When working properly, this inflammatory process is tightly regulated and confined only to infected areas. But sometimes your immune system goes haywire and those cells kill anything in their way, including your healthy tissue.

During the third phase, lung damage continues to build—which can result in respiratory failure. Even if death doesn’t occur, some patients survive with permanent lung damage. According to the WHO, SARS punched holes in the lungs, giving them “a honeycomb-like appearance”—and these lesions are present in those afflicted by novel coronavirus, too.

These holes are likely created by the immune system’s hyperactive response, which creates scars that both protect and stiffen the lungs.
When that occurs, patients often have to be put on ventilators to assist their breathing. Meanwhile, inflammation also makes the membranes between the air sacs and blood vessels more permeable, which can fill the lungs with fluid and affect their ability to oxygenate blood.
“In severe cases, you basically flood your lungs and you can’t breathe,” Frieman says. “That’s how people are dying.”

**The Stomach: A shared gateway**
During the SARS and MERS outbreaks, nearly a quarter of patients had diarrhea—a much more significant feature of those zoonotic coronaviruses. But Frieman says it’s still not clear whether gastrointestinal symptoms play a major part in the latest outbreak, given cases diarrhea and abdominal pain have been rare. But why does a respiratory virus bother the gut at all?
When any virus enters your body, it looks for human cells with its favorite doorways—proteins on the outside of the cells called receptors. If the virus finds a compatible receptor on a cell, it can invade.
Some viruses are picky about which door they choose, but others are a little more promiscuous. “They can very easily penetrate into all types of cells,” says Anna Suk-Fong Lok, assistant dean for clinical research at the University of Michigan Medical School and former president of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.

Both SARS and MERS viruses can access the cells that line your intestines and large and small colon, and those infections appear to flourish in the gut, potentially causing the damage or the leakage of fluid that becomes diarrhea.
But Frieman says we don’t know yet if the novel coronavirus does the same. Researchers believe COVID-19 uses the same receptor as SARS, and this doorway can be found in your lungs and small intestines.
Two studies—one in the *New England Journal of Medicine* and one preprint in medRxiv involving 1,099 cases—have also detected the virus in stool samples, which might indicate the virus could spread via feces. But this is far from conclusive.
“Whether that kind of fecal transmission is occuring for this Wuhan virus, we don’t know at all,” Frieman says. “But it definitely looks like it’s there in the stool and it looks like people do have GI symptoms associated with this.”

Blood storm
Coronaviruses can also cause problems in other systems of the body, due to the hyperactive immune response we mentioned earlier.

A 2014 study showed that 92 percent of patients with MERS had at least one manifestation of the coronavirus outside of the lungs. In fact, signs of a full body blitz have been witnessed with all three of the zoonotic coronaviruses: elevated liver enzymes, lower white blood cell and platelet count, and low blood pressure. In rare cases, patients have suffered from acute kidney injury and cardiac arrest.

But this isn’t necessarily a sign that the virus itself is spreading throughout the body, says Angela Rasmussen, a virologist and associate research scientist at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

It might be a cytokine storm.
Cytokines are proteins used by the immune system as alarm beacons—they recruit immune cells to the site of infection. The immune cells then kill off the infected tissue in a bid to save the rest of the body.
Humans rely on our immune systems to keep their cool when facing a threat. But during a runaway coronavirus infection, when the immune system dumps cytokines into the lungs without any regulation, this culling becomes a free-for-all, Rasmussen says “Instead of shooting at a target with a gun, you’re using a missile launcher,” she says. That’s where the problem arises: Your body is not just targeting the infected cells. It is attacking healthy tissue too.

The implications extend outside the lungs. Cytokine storms create inflammation that weakens blood vessels in the lungs and causes fluid to seep through to the air sacs. “Basically you’re bleeding out of your blood vessels,” Rasmussen says. The storm spills into your circulatory system and creates systemic issues across multiple organs.
From there, things can take a sharp turn for the worse. In some of the most severe COVID-19 cases, the cytokine response—combined with a diminished capacity to pump oxygen to the rest of the body—can result in multi-organ failure. Scientists don’t know exactly why some patients experience complications outside of the lung, but it might be linked to underlying conditions like heart disease or diabetes.
“Even if the virus doesn’t get to kidneys and liver and spleen and other things, it can have clear downstream effects on all of those processes,” Frieman says. And that’s when things can get serious.

**Liver: Collateral damage.**
When a zoonotic coronavirus spreads from the respiratory system, your liver is often one downstream organ that suffers. Doctors have seen indications of liver injury with SARS, MERS, and COVID-19—often mild, though more severe cases have led to severe liver damage and even liver failure. So what’s happening?
“Once a virus gets into your bloodstream, they can swim to any part of your body,” Lok says. “The liver is a very vascular organ so [a coronavirus] can very easily get into your liver.”
Your liver works pretty hard to make sure your body can function properly. Its main job is to process your blood after it leaves the stomach, filtering out the toxins and creating nutrients your body can use. It also makes the bile that helps your small intestine break down fats. Your liver also contains enzymes, which speed up chemical reactions in the body.
In a normal body, Lok explains, liver cells are constantly dying off and releasing enzymes into your bloodstream. This resourceful organ then quickly regenerates new cells and carries on with its day. Because of that regeneration process, the liver can withstand a lot of injury.
When you have abnormally high levels of enzymes in your blood, though—as has been a common characteristic of patients suffering from SARS and MERS—it’s a warning sign. It might be a mild injury that the liver will quickly bounce back from or it could be something more severe—even liver failure.
Lok says scientists don’t completely understand how these respiratory viruses behave in the liver. The virus might be directly infecting the liver, replicating and killing off the cells itself. Or those cells might be collateral damage as your body’s immune response to the virus sets off a severe inflammatory reaction in the liver.
Either way, she notes that liver failure was never the sole cause of death for SARS patients. “By the time the liver fails,” she says, “oftentimes you’ll find that the patient not only has lung problems and liver problems but they may also have kidney problems. By then it becomes a systemic infection.”

**Kidney: It’s all connected works in unison.**
Yes, your kidneys are caught up in this mess, too. Six percent of SARS patients—and a full quarter of MERS patients—suffered acute renal injury. Studies have shown the novel coronavirus can do the same. It may be a relatively uncommon feature of the disease, but it is a fatal one. Ultimately 91.7 percent of SARS patients with acute renal impairment died, according to a 2005 study in *Kidney International*.
Like the liver, your kidneys act as a filter for your blood. Each kidney is filled with about 800,000 of microscopic distilling units called nephrons. These nephrons have two main components: a filter to clean the blood and little tubes that return the good stuff back to your body or send the waste down to your bladder as urine.
It’s the kidney tubules that seem to be most affected by these zoonotic coronaviruses. After the SARS outbreak, the WHO reported that the virus was found in kidney tubules, which can become inflamed.
It’s not uncommon to detect a virus in the tubules if it’s in your bloodstream, says Kar Neng Lai, a professor emeritus at the University of Hong Kong and consultant nephrologist at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. As your kidneys are continuously filtering blood, sometimes the tubular cells can trap the virus and cause a transient, or milder, injury.
That injury could become lethal if the virus penetrates the cells and begins to replicate. But Lai—who was also a member of the first group of researchers reporting on SARS and contributed to the *Kidney International* study—says there was no evidence that the SARS virus was replicating in the kidney.

That finding, Lai says, suggests acute kidney injury in SARS patients might be due to a diverse set of causes, including low blood pressure, sepsis, drugs, or a metabolic disturbance. Meanwhile, the more severe cases that led to acute renal failure showed signs of—you guessed it—a cytokine storm.
Acute renal failure can also sometimes be brought on by antibiotics, multi-organ failure, or being connected to a ventilator for too long. Everything is connected.

**Pregnancy and coronavirus?**
It’s the great irony of the Twitter age that we know too little about the novel coronavirus as we drown in information updates about it. Medical journals have published several studies about this outbreak—some more vetted than others as researchers rush to feed the maw. Meanwhile, news outlets are reporting every development. All this information whirls around the internet where discerning fact from fiction is a notorious challenge.
“This is really unprecedented in terms of the up-to-the-minute reporting on what’s going on in these studies,” Rasmussen says. “It’s really tricky trying to sort through all of the information and figure out what’s really supported, what’s speculative, and what’s plain wrong.”
For example, last week, doctors at a hospital in Wuhan reported that two infants tested positive for the novel coronavirus, one just 30 hours after birth. Naturally, this troubling headline spread across news organizations, given it raised questions of whether pregnant women can infect their unborn children in utero or whether the disease can be transmitted during birth or through breast milk.

**But let’s pump the brakes.**
Mother-to-infant transmission wasn’t observed with SARS nor MERS despite numerous cases involving pregnant women. Plus, there are other ways a newborn could catch the coronavirus, Rasmussen says, such as by being born at hospital overrun with infected patients during a hectic emergency.
In fact, a new study published Thursday in *The Lancet* offers preliminary evidence that the coronavirus cannot be passed from mother to child.
In the report, researchers observed nine women in Wuhan who had COVID-19 pneumonia. Some of the women had pregnancy complications, but all cases resulted in live births without evidence of transmitting the infection. While this study doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of transmission during pregnancy, it underscores the need to exercise caution in speculating about this disease.

“There needs to be a high standard of evidence before you can say that’s happening definitively—and certainly before you start making changes to how cases are managed clinically or in terms of public policy,” Rasmussen says.
Frieman agrees. He hopes this epidemic will prompt more funding for coronavirus research like the recent pledges from the European Union and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Last Thursday, China’s National Health Commission said more than 1,700 health care workers are ill with the new virus, and the announcement came just a day after the WHO wrapped a summit on the best protocols for hospital care and the development of therapeutics, like vaccines.

Frieman wants the support and interest to last even if this outbreak eventually fizzles out, unlike what happened with SARS research.
“Right after the SARS outbreak, there was a big bunch of money and then it went away,” Frieman says. “Why don’t we have these answers? Nobody funded these things.”

A 2014 study showed that 92 percent of patients with MERS had at least one manifestation of the coronavirus outside of the lungs. In fact, signs of a full body blitz have been witnessed with all three of the zoonotic coronaviruses: elevated liver enzymes, lower white blood cell and platelet count, and low blood pressure. In rare cases, patients have suffered from acute kidney injury and cardiac arrest.

But this isn’t necessarily a sign that the virus itself is spreading throughout the body, says Angela Rasmussen, a virologist and associate research scientist at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

It might be a cytokine storm.
Cytokines are proteins used by the immune system as alarm beacons—they recruit immune cells to the site of infection. The immune cells then kill off the infected tissue in a bid to save the rest of the body.
Humans rely on our immune systems to keep their cool when facing a threat. But during a runaway coronavirus infection, when the immune system dumps cytokines into the lungs without any regulation, this culling becomes a free-for-all, Rasmussen says “Instead of shooting at a target with a gun, you’re using a missile launcher,” she says. That’s where the problem arises: Your body is not just targeting the infected cells. It is attacking healthy tissue too.

The implications extend outside the lungs. Cytokine storms create inflammation that weakens blood vessels in the lungs and causes fluid to seep through to the air sacs. “Basically you’re bleeding out of your blood vessels,” Rasmussen says. The storm spills into your circulatory system and creates systemic issues across multiple organs.
From there, things can take a sharp turn for the worse. In some of the most severe COVID-19 cases, the cytokine response—combined with a diminished capacity to pump oxygen to the rest of the body—can result in multi-organ failure. Scientists don’t know exactly why some patients experience complications outside of the lung, but it might be linked to underlying conditions like heart disease or diabetes.
“Even if the virus doesn’t get to kidneys and liver and spleen and other things, it can have clear downstream effects on all of those processes,” Frieman says. And that’s when things can get serious.

**Liver: Collateral damage.**
When a zoonotic coronavirus spreads from the respiratory system, your liver is often one downstream organ that suffers. Doctors have seen indications of liver injury with SARS, MERS, and COVID-19—often mild, though more severe cases have led to severe liver damage and even liver failure. So what’s happening?
“Once a virus gets into your bloodstream, they can swim to any part of your body,” Lok says. “The liver is a very vascular organ so [a coronavirus] can very easily get into your liver.”
Your liver works pretty hard to make sure your body can function properly. Its main job is to process your blood after it leaves the stomach, filtering out the toxins and creating nutrients your body can use. It also makes the bile that helps your small intestine break down fats. Your liver also contains enzymes, which speed up chemical reactions in the body.
In a normal body, Lok explains, liver cells are constantly dying off and releasing enzymes into your bloodstream. This resourceful organ then quickly regenerates new cells and carries on with its day. Because of that regeneration process, the liver can withstand a lot of injury.
When you have abnormally high levels of enzymes in your blood, though—as has been a common characteristic of patients suffering from SARS and MERS—it’s a warning sign. It might be a mild injury that the liver will quickly bounce back from or it could be something more severe—even liver failure.
Lok says scientists don’t completely understand how these respiratory viruses behave in the liver. The virus might be directly infecting the liver, replicating and killing off the cells itself. Or those cells might be collateral damage as your body’s immune response to the virus sets off a severe inflammatory reaction in the liver.
Either way, she notes that liver failure was never the sole cause of death for SARS patients. “By the time the liver fails,” she says, “oftentimes you’ll find that the patient not only has lung problems and liver problems but they may also have kidney problems. By then it becomes a systemic infection.”

**Kidney: It’s all connected works in unison.**
Yes, your kidneys are caught up in this mess, too. Six percent of SARS patients—and a full quarter of MERS patients—suffered acute renal injury. Studies have shown the novel coronavirus can do the same. It may be a relatively uncommon feature of the disease, but it is a fatal one. Ultimately 91.7 percent of SARS patients with acute renal impairment died, according to a 2005 study in *Kidney International*.
Like the liver, your kidneys act as a filter for your blood. Each kidney is filled with about 800,000 of microscopic distilling units called nephrons. These nephrons have two main components: a filter to clean the blood and little tubes that return the good stuff back to your body or send the waste down to your bladder as urine.
It’s the kidney tubules that seem to be most affected by these zoonotic coronaviruses. After the SARS outbreak, the WHO reported that the virus was found in kidney tubules, which can become inflamed.
It’s not uncommon to detect a virus in the tubules if it’s in your bloodstream, says Kar Neng Lai, a professor emeritus at the University of Hong Kong and consultant nephrologist at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital. As your kidneys are continuously filtering blood, sometimes the tubular cells can trap the virus and cause a transient, or milder, injury.
That injury could become lethal if the virus penetrates the cells and begins to replicate. But Lai—who was also a member of the first group of researchers reporting on SARS and contributed to the *Kidney International* study—says there was no evidence that the SARS virus was replicating in the kidney.

That finding, Lai says, suggests acute kidney injury in SARS patients might be due to a diverse set of causes, including low blood pressure, sepsis, drugs, or a metabolic disturbance. Meanwhile, the more severe cases that led to acute renal failure showed signs of—you guessed it—a cytokine storm.
Acute renal failure can also sometimes be brought on by antibiotics, multi-organ failure, or being connected to a ventilator for too long. Everything is connected.

**Pregnancy and coronavirus?**
It’s the great irony of the Twitter age that we know too little about the novel coronavirus as we drown in information updates about it. Medical journals have published several studies about this outbreak—some more vetted than others as researchers rush to feed the maw. Meanwhile, news outlets are reporting every development. All this information whirls around the internet where discerning fact from fiction is a notorious challenge.
“This is really unprecedented in terms of the up-to-the-minute reporting on what’s going on in these studies,” Rasmussen says. “It’s really tricky trying to sort through all of the information and figure out what’s really supported, what’s speculative, and what’s plain wrong.”
For example, last week, doctors at a hospital in Wuhan reported that two infants tested positive for the novel coronavirus, one just 30 hours after birth. Naturally, this troubling headline spread across news organizations, given it raised questions of whether pregnant women can infect their unborn children in utero or whether the disease can be transmitted during birth or through breast milk.

**But let’s pump the brakes.**
Mother-to-infant transmission wasn’t observed with SARS nor MERS despite numerous cases involving pregnant women. Plus, there are other ways a newborn could catch the coronavirus, Rasmussen says, such as by being born at hospital overrun with infected patients during a hectic emergency.
In fact, a new study published Thursday in *The Lancet* offers preliminary evidence that the coronavirus cannot be passed from mother to child.
In the report, researchers observed nine women in Wuhan who had COVID-19 pneumonia. Some of the women had pregnancy complications, but all cases resulted in live births without evidence of transmitting the infection. While this study doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of transmission during pregnancy, it underscores the need to exercise caution in speculating about this disease.

“There needs to be a high standard of evidence before you can say that’s happening definitively—and certainly before you start making changes to how cases are managed clinically or in terms of public policy,” Rasmussen says.
Frieman agrees. He hopes this epidemic will prompt more funding for coronavirus research like the recent pledges from the European Union and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Last Thursday, China’s National Health Commission said more than 1,700 health care workers are ill with the new virus, and the announcement came just a day after the WHO wrapped a summit on the best protocols for hospital care and the development of therapeutics, like vaccines.

Frieman wants the support and interest to last even if this outbreak eventually fizzles out, unlike what happened with SARS research.
“Right after the SARS outbreak, there was a big bunch of money and then it went away,” Frieman says. “Why don’t we have these answers? Nobody funded these things.”

What they won’t tell you when buying an electric car is that manufacturing the batteries is actually horrible for the environment. Climate change fanaticism is the biggest grift of all time. AND Actually, the manufacturing of batteries is 100% oil-dependent.

When they are coming to an end they can be recycled by a firm in Canada to make new batteries.

About 350 concerned residents crowded into a church in Georgetown, Delaware, on Thursday evening to hear from a panel of experts about critical race theory—one of whom likened its spread throughout American culture to Mao Zedong’s communist Cultural Revolution in China.
“Today, communism is taking root in America,” speaker Xi Van Fleet said.
Critical race theory has become a flashpoint as parents discover that their children’s teachers are indoctrinating them with the divisive and racist ideology at the behest of teachers unions.
“The goal of critical race theory was making the issue of race and ethnicity the primary driver for public policy and social change,” Jonathan Butcher, an education fellow at The Heritage Foundation, said at the event in Delaware. “The essence of the idea is that everything must be considered in terms of race.”

Heritage defines critical race theory as a philosophy that “makes race the prism through which its proponents analyze all aspects of American life, categorizing individuals into groups of oppressors and victims.”
In addition to the on-site audience, hundreds of others watched online. The discussion (captured in the video above) began with Butcher’s explanation of the Marxist origins of critical race theory in the 1930s. Butcher said critical theory—the precursor to critical race theory—was born in the Frankfurt School of social theory and critical philosophy in Germany in 1937.
From there, the theory evolved and expanded until it was brought from Germany to America, where the Marxist underpinnings of critical theory were forced to adapt. The idea of class-based struggle was replaced by race-based struggle in the 1980s. Thus, critical race theory was born.

Van Fleet, a mother and Chinese immigrant who grew up in Mao’s communist China during its Cultural Revolution, discussed her experiences suffering through a communist revolution.
She pointed to warning signs now appearing in America.
“What we’re experiencing today is the American version of the Chinese communist revolution,” said Van Fleet, adding, “Today, communism is taking root in America.”
She drew comparisons between her youth in an increasingly communist China and the modern push in the U.S. for critical race theory in academia, Hollywood, government, and the military.
Van Fleet cited the parallels of Mao’s use of class-conflict theory, an offshoot of critical theory, to divide people into oppressors and the oppressed.
She drew applause when she asserted this truth about communism: “What the state can give you for free, they can also take back.”
But the speaker who drew the most visceral reaction from the audience was Shawntel Cooper, a black mother from Loudoun County, Virginia. Cooper is a member of Fight for Schools, an organization dedicated to exposing bad actors in the Loudoun school system, which is just outside the nation’s capital, and to mobilizing parents to improve education for their children.

Cooper came to the public’s attention in May by attacking critical race theory at a Loudoun County School Board meeting. The video of her remarks went viral.
Cooper described her experiences growing up to show how critical race theory is a racist and evil ideology. She was raised by a single mother who encouraged her never to be a victim. The Section 8 housing project where she grew up had an array of racial and ethnic groups, and she made friends and played with them, without regard to their color.
Cooper said she took all that to heart.
“Because of my past, I didn’t become a victim. I prayed all the time. I wasn’t perfect, but God never left me … through my faith I had strength, and my strength allowed me to become a victor, not a victim,” Cooper said.
She also described the extent of the indoctrination occurring in the Loudoun County school district.
“Teachers were trained on critical race theory. One of the direct quotes from the training materials said, ‘Teachers have a special role to teach academics; inculcate morals. The teacher is the second mother. The parent’s role is to socialize children and respect teachers’ authority,’” Cooper said, eliciting gasps from the audience.
The panel concluded with a brief question-and-answer session, during which panelists offered advice and help on a wide range of issues related to critical race theory and how to spot signs of it in schools.

In my generation, the indoctrination was all some version of, “hey, we can all get along,” and if the goal was to get along they had gone very far. But that was never the goal. Division is first.

Critical Race Theory (Communism) is Taking Root in America.

About 350 concerned residents crowded into a church in Georgetown, Delaware, on Thursday evening to hear from a panel of experts about critical race theory—one of whom likened its spread throughout American culture to Mao Zedong’s communist Cultural Revolution in China.
“Today, communism is taking root in America,” speaker Xi Van Fleet said.
Critical race theory has become a flashpoint as parents discover that their children’s teachers are indoctrinating them with the divisive and racist ideology at the behest of teachers unions.
“The goal of critical race theory was making the issue of race and ethnicity the primary driver for public policy and social change,” Jonathan Butcher, an education fellow at The Heritage Foundation, said at the event in Delaware. “The essence of the idea is that everything must be considered in terms of race.”

Heritage defines critical race theory as a philosophy that “makes race the prism through which its proponents analyze all aspects of American life, categorizing individuals into groups of oppressors and victims.”
In addition to the on-site audience, hundreds of others watched online. The discussion (captured in the video above) began with Butcher’s explanation of the Marxist origins of critical race theory in the 1930s. Butcher said critical theory—the precursor to critical race theory—was born in the Frankfurt School of social theory and critical philosophy in Germany in 1937.
From there, the theory evolved and expanded until it was brought from Germany to America, where the Marxist underpinnings of critical theory were forced to adapt. The idea of class-based struggle was replaced by race-based struggle in the 1980s. Thus, critical race theory was born.

Van Fleet, a mother and Chinese immigrant who grew up in Mao’s communist China during its Cultural Revolution, discussed her experiences suffering through a communist revolution.
She pointed to warning signs now appearing in America.
“What we’re experiencing today is the American version of the Chinese communist revolution,” said Van Fleet, adding, “Today, communism is taking root in America.”
She drew comparisons between her youth in an increasingly communist China and the modern push in the U.S. for critical race theory in academia, Hollywood, government, and the military.
Van Fleet cited the parallels of Mao’s use of class-conflict theory, an offshoot of critical theory, to divide people into oppressors and the oppressed.
She drew applause when she asserted this truth about communism: “What the state can give you for free, they can also take back.”
But the speaker who drew the most visceral reaction from the audience was Shawntel Cooper, a black mother from Loudoun County, Virginia. Cooper is a member of Fight for Schools, an organization dedicated to exposing bad actors in the Loudoun school system, which is just outside the nation’s capital, and to mobilizing parents to improve education for their children.

Cooper came to the public’s attention in May by attacking critical race theory at a Loudoun County School Board meeting. The video of her remarks went viral.
Cooper described her experiences growing up to show how critical race theory is a racist and evil ideology. She was raised by a single mother who encouraged her never to be a victim. The Section 8 housing project where she grew up had an array of racial and ethnic groups, and she made friends and played with them, without regard to their color.
Cooper said she took all that to heart.
“Because of my past, I didn’t become a victim. I prayed all the time. I wasn’t perfect, but God never left me … through my faith I had strength, and my strength allowed me to become a victor, not a victim,” Cooper said.
She also described the extent of the indoctrination occurring in the Loudoun County school district.
“Teachers were trained on critical race theory. One of the direct quotes from the training materials said, ‘Teachers have a special role to teach academics; inculcate morals. The teacher is the second mother. The parent’s role is to socialize children and respect teachers’ authority,’” Cooper said, eliciting gasps from the audience.
The panel concluded with a brief question-and-answer session, during which panelists offered advice and help on a wide range of issues related to critical race theory and how to spot signs of it in schools.

In an attempt to lay out the Biden administration’s approach to charting the course of the U.S.-China economic relationship, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai underscored that the bilateral relationship is “complex and competitive.”

More importantly, Tai noted, “In recent years, Beijing has doubled down on its state-centered economic system. It is increasingly clear that China’s plans do not include meaningful reforms to address the concerns that have been shared by the United States and many other countries.”

Indeed, that’s the core of the problem in moving forward the “complex and competitive” U.S.-China economic relationship.

To be fair, China’s economic development has been notable since it opened more to the world in the late 1970s and allowed for a more capitalist economic model to succeed.

Entry into the World Trade Organization in 2001 further opened China’s market to foreign trade and investment, enabling China to lift millions more out of abject poverty and giving a greater number of Chinese citizens access to a better quality of life and leisure.

Beijing has long taken credit for China’s economic success and wishes to keep it that way.

However, the Chinese Communist Party has never abandoned its socialist ideology and authoritarian approach. Chinese President Xi Jinping has successfully injected the party’s new paradox between craving greater control that puts the party above all and the pursuit of much-needed positive economic outcomes, which has been increasingly challenging.

China has often paid lip service to reforming its bloated, inefficient state-owned enterprises and command economic structure. Unfortunately, recently announced reforms rarely pan out, with pro-market reforms slowed and even derailed in some sectors.

About 15 years ago, the one-party government in Beijing began redefining state-owned enterprise “reform,” using the phrase to refer to centralizing state control over key industries, the opposite of what it means in the rest of the world.

The Chinese Communist Party’s third plenum in 2013 outlined how the state would reduce control of commercial state-owned enterprises, while pushing them in key industries that contribute the most to China’s economic development and national security to focus on “core” areas of their businesses.

In practice, that has meant ever-increasing deference by state-owned enterprises to party officials’ top-down control of their activities.

Pursuing and maintaining high rates of economic growth is not, of course, the primary goal of any communist dictatorship. The real objective is always the party’s retention of full control of the country’s people, usually by any means necessary. The party does seem to understand that spurring continued economic growth is a key factor in maintaining popular support.

That makes its continued affinity for relying on its “state-centered economic system” particularly misguided and eventually unsustainable. It’s bad for China in the end, but it certainly causes distortions in markets beyond China’s borders as well.

China has not fared well in The Heritage Foundation’s annual Index of Economic Freedom, which measures economic governance in key areas related to economic growth and prosperity.

China’s economic freedom has grown over the past few decades, but at a snail’s pace. The Chinese economy remains “mostly unfree” and stands as the 107th-freest (out of 179) in the 2021 index, lagging behind the majority of other countries in maximizing opportunities for greater economic dynamism.

In a recent Wall Street Journal commentary, New Zealand’s former trade minister and ambassador to the U.S., Tim Groser, offered some timely observations by highlighting:

We don’t yet know where the new policy script that the Chinese Communist Party is now writing will lead the world’s second-largest economy. … Things have been moving backward lately, in the direction of greater centralization and state control.

Unambiguously, that “greater centralization and state control”—which suffocates the intellectual, social, and economic strength of the Chinese people—is at the core of all the issues that Washington must deal with in shaping its course toward the communist regime.

Fact-check: Does Anthony Fauci have millions invested in a coronavirus vaccine?

The country’s top infectious disease expert is discouraging the use of a potential COVID-19 treatment because he could earn millions of dollars from a vaccine, at least, that’s according to a popular Facebook claim.
One post published by an anti-vaccine page on Sunday says Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, “stands to lose 100 million dollars” on a coronavirus vaccine from Bill Gates because he invested in it.
“If everyone can be healed with the Malaria drug and a Z pack, there will be no need for the vaccine if we could use drugs already on the market that helps heal 98 percent of the coronavirus (sic) patients,” reads the image. “That’s why he’s been so hesitant to put his seal of approval on this form of treatment that has shown to drastically improve hundreds of people’s symptoms.”

As a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force, Fauci has tempered expectations for the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 patients. The drugs, which are used to treat conditions like malaria and lupus, have shown some promise in alleviating coronavirus symptoms, but the research is not conclusive.
PolitiFact has seen a lot of misinformation about public officials’ financial interests in hydroxychloroquine. Fauci has become a popular target for coronavirus disinformation, so we wanted to check out this post, too.
The Facebook post draws a false connection between Gates’ philanthropy and Fauci’s public remarks about hydroxychloroquine. There is no evidence that Fauci is personally financially invested in a coronavirus vaccine, and scientists still don’t know if hydroxychloroquine is effective in treating COVID-19.

Gates Foundation supports coronavirus research.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is indirectly supporting the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases by funding a group that is helping the agency develop a potential coronavirus vaccine. But there is no evidence that Fauci himself stands to profit.
The Gates Foundation said in a Feb. 5 statement that it is investing up to $100 million for “the global response to the 2019 novel coronavirus.” That includes efforts aimed at improving detection and treatment of the virus in addition to vaccine development.
“The foundation will commit up to $60 million to accelerate the discovery, development and testing of vaccines, treatments and diagnostics for 2019-nCoV (the formal name for the coronavirus),” the statement reads.
While the Gates Foundation has supported the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the past, the philanthropy told PolitiFact in an email that it does not provide funding to the agency now, even though the agency is currently developing a COVID-19 vaccine.
During his March 11 testimony to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, Fauci said it could take a year and a half to roll out a safe and effective coronavirus vaccine. There are 70 vaccines in development, according to the World Health Organization — three of which are in clinical trials.
The first trial began in mid-March. The potential vaccine was developed by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases scientists in partnership with pharmaceutical company Moderna, Inc. A search of the Securities Exchange Commission’s database, which contains information on publicly traded companies, turned up no documents linking Fauci directly to Moderna.
According to a statement from the National Institutes of Health, which houses the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, manufacturing for the potential vaccine was supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, a foundation that funds vaccine research. The Gates Foundation said in its February release that it will allocate some of its research and development funding to the coalition.
So Gates’ money is indirectly going toward the development of a potential coronavirus vaccine created by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases scientists, but not to the agency itself. And there is no publicly available evidence that Fauci personally stands to profit from a vaccine.

Hydroxychloroquine is not a proven treatment.
The Facebook post claims that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine heal “98% of coronavirus patients” and have improved “hundreds of people’s symptoms.” There is no evidence to back that up.
With more than 50 studies in the works, there is still much scientists don’t know about how hydroxychloroquine affects the coronavirus. But four studies — two from France and two from China — have come to conflicting conclusions.

One study of 62 patients in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the pandemic, found that those who were issued hydroxychloroquine saw their body temperature and cough go down faster than the control group. But a separate group of doctors in Shanghai found that the drug had no discernible effect on a group of 30 patients over the course of a week.
Two studies in France had similarly opposing conclusions. One hospital in Marseilles gave 80 COVID-19 patients a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, an antibiotic. After five days, 95% of the patients tested negative for the coronavirus. But a similar hospital study in Paris found no marked improvement in 10 patients.

Bottom line: We still don’t know whether chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine is effective at improving COVID-19 symptoms.
That uncertainty, as well as the drugs’ adverse heart effects and the potential for doctors to stockpile it, is why public health officials have urged caution. There are no Food and Drug Administration-approved drugs to treat COVID-19, although the agency has issued an emergency authorization for the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in hospitals.

Our ruling: A Facebook post claims Fauci has downplayed the potential use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus patients because he stands to lose $100 million on a Gates-funded vaccine.
There are 70 potential COVID-19 vaccines in development, one of which was created by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases scientists in partnership with Moderna, Inc.

That vaccine is being manufactured by an organization that the Gates Foundation supports, but there’s no evidence that the agency or Fauci will directly profit from that support. And the Gates Foundation has pledged up to $60 million for vaccine development, not $100 million, as the post says.
Some studies have found that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine could help treat coronavirus patients, but others have found no effect at all. Public health officials have urged caution due to the uncertainty and the adverse side effects of the drugs.

Hochul’s New Religion: God Gave Us The Vaccines, And He Wants Us To Be Vaccinated.

To start, New York Governor Kathy Hochul isn’t God, a prophet, or a moral figure that anyone should look up to. As a Catholic, you should look after the oppressed, not take their jobs, but that’s what Hochul has done. She’s mandated that every New York hospital employee has to get the Covid-19 vaccine or be fired. That encompasses over 70,000 people. Let’s talk about faith. Faith is believing and trusting you are in God’s grace through Jesus Christ. It means you’re protected from evil, ill will, and even viruses.
The Bible says to trust God, not man.

Though God gives people the ability to provide products and services that are helpful to humanity, under no circumstances would God mandate the Covid-19 vaccine. Unless you ask Hochul. The people who should be most protected are the unborn children. Hochul called Texas’ HeartBeat Bill “grotesquely unfair.” Should Hochul, as a Catholic, be against abortion? Psalms 139 says, “you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

Or, the more politically correct version, “you knit me together in my birthing person’s womb.” That’s the Hochul International Version. All jokes aside, Hochul needs to decide what she’s for and what she’s against. Her hypocritical mandates and governor’s orders conflict with her religion. Though America has freedom of religion, she’s leading people of faith astray with her ridiculous views on “new age” Catholicism. In the service, Hochul said that unvaccinated people “aren’t listening to God and what God wants.”

She’s talking to a different God.
The Bible is strictly against abortion and forcing others to do what you want. In Galatians 5:1, this verse seems to speak against Hochul’s vaccine mandate. You shouldn’t be a slave to a man just like you shouldn’t be a slave to a vaccine. But Hochul doesn’t care. Most politicians claim one religion or another and act nothing as they should. The law says that a religious exemption is legitimate for most things.

Hochul doesn’t practice that religious exemption because she’s trying to rewrite the Bible as her own and use her political power to interpret the Bible for her liking. That’s what happened when the Ku Klux Klan began. They interpreted that Black Americans were lesser than White Americans and justified their evil doings through biblical interpretation. It leads many down a path of disbelief and distrust for the mandates in place and Hochul’s religion. She’s getting nowhere and leading others with her.

There is corruption, graft, greed and self-enrichment by our “lawmakers” on
an unimaginable SCALE. We make any Eastern Asian Country look like kids just PLAYING at corruption. The more we look, the deeper U.S. government corruption gets.. Never thought I would say that.

Kratom Debate Rages

***At the age of 27, Kim DeMott says, her life was looking bleak.***

After being diagnosed with lupus, she had infections, rashes, and incredible pain all over her body. Over the next several years, her health declined as new diagnoses came: fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and Sjogren’s syndrome. Her pain became so severe she started using a cane to walk, and she says at her lowest point, she was taking 28 medications a day, including several opioids for chronic pain.
“I wasn’t able to be a good mom to my kids. I wasn’t able to function. I had zero quality of life. I was just miserable,” the California mother of two says.
Then in 2016, DeMott learned about kratom from a friend taking it for lupus symptoms. She decided to give the herbal supplement a try. She ordered some online and brewed it into a tea. Relief came with the first cup, she says.

**Kim DeMott was on 26 medications at the age of 27 before she discovered kratom.**
“It helped so much better than anything else I had ever tried, including being on pain medications — and I was on a lot of them: morphine, oxycodone, benzodiazepines, and muscle relaxers,” she says. “The same day I tried kratom for the first time, I went for a mile walk with my son. I was able to pick my kids up from school. It’s been really amazing. It’s given me my quality of life back.”
DeMott says she still has chronic pain and health issues, but kratom dulls the pain enough that she can function. That’s why she’s organized two rallies — one in California and one in Washington, D.C. — to push the government to keep the herb legal. She and other kratom users and advocates are growing more concerned about news that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is considering labeling it as a Schedule I drug — a category that includes heroin, ecstasy, marijuana, and LSD. It would also make the drug illegal on a federal level.
Federal officials have said they are concerned that kratom can be abused because of its opioid-like effects. It’s now illegal in six states and the District of Columbia, and it’s been on the DEA’s list of drugs and chemicals of concern for several years.
“There are no proven uses for kratom and #FDA strongly discourages the public from consuming it. Kratom is an opioid and it’s an inherently addictive product that can cause harm, which is reason enough not to consume it, but also may make users sick,” FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD, tweeted in August 2018.
Talk of a ban worries DeMott. “That would be devastating to me,” she says. “If anything, kratom just makes me feel more like my old self, before I was diagnosed with so many conditions, and that is what has been such a blessing about it to me.”

**What Is Kratom?**
Kratom is a tropical tree in Southeast Asia. Its leaves have been used for hundreds of years to relieve pain. They can be eaten raw, but more often are crushed and brewed as tea or turned into capsules, tablets, and liquids.
In low doses, kratom is a stimulant. In large amounts, it’s a sedative, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) says it can lead to symptoms of psychosis and dependence. The DEA notes that its use appears to be going up. U.S. poison control centers received 263 calls about kratom in 2015, ten times the amount in 2010, the CDC says.
According to the CDC, about 42% of cases of kratom use reported between 2010 and 2015 involved non-life-threatening symptoms that required some treatment. About 7% of cases were classified as major and life-threatening. The DEA warns health risks in kratom abusers can include seizures, hallucinations, and death. Government agencies say there have been 44 deaths related to kratom and say at least one is being investigated as involving “pure kratom.” But NIDA says most deaths linked to kratom seemed to have happened when people used it along with illegal drugs or prescription medications.

Kratom leaves are like opiates. They’re not illegal painkillers, but can they be dangerous?

That’s consistent with the finding of a 2019 study out of the University of Colorado that reviewed 15 kratom-related deaths between 1997 and 2017 in Colorado and found other drugs present in 14 of the cases.
In terms of how it works, a 2016 study found that in mice, kratom targets a part of the brain that responds to opioid drugs like morphine, codeine, and fentanyl. But that study found that unlike morphine, it does not lead to harmful side effects like slowed breathing — called respiratory depression — constipation, and physical dependence. Since most deaths from opioid overdose are because of respiratory depression, some believe kratom merits further study to see if some of its compounds can be harnessed for medical benefits that may be less addictive.
Walter C. Prozialeck, PhD, a professor of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL, has analyzed about 100 studies on kratom up until 2016 and now consults with other kratom researchers.
He says unscientific reports suggest kratom is less addictive than opioids, but he says many companies in the U.S. advertise it as a legal high. Several Southeast Asian countries have outlawed it.
“By any measure, kratom would be less harmful and less addictive than something like heroin. If you look at the evidence, you have to conclude that,” Prozialeck says. “But kratom can induce a state of physical dependence.”
“It is probably addictive, but it’s addictive equivalent is something like coffee, which isn’t surprising because the leaf is in the coffee family,” says Christopher R. McCurdy, PhD, a professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Florida in Gainesville. His research on mice shows that kratom may be able to treat opioid withdrawal with few side effects, and he says people who use kratom for this purpose typically don’t have withdrawals or, if they happen, they are mild.

Advocates say kratom offers relief from pain, depression, and anxiety.
Dijon Evans, 55, of Sacramento, CA, turned to it 3 years ago to manage chronic pain from nerve damage. “There was no high. I just felt better. I could move. I could breathe without all the pain. I felt alive again. I didn’t feel buried by the pain,” she says.
For that reason, some scientists say kratom may hold the key to treating chronic pain and may even be a tool to combat addiction to opioid medications. McCurdy and his colleagues just received a $3.5 million grant from the NIDA to study the plant’s components over the next 2 years to better understand how it works and how it can be abused.
“It’s very clear that the National Institute on Drug Abuse wants to understand the science of this plant and the components of this plant because of the anecdotal stories and community of users showing this is working well to keep them off of opiates and the historical usage of this plant to wean people off opium or prescription drugs,” McCurdy says.
Kratom Research
Kratom is used for self-treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, pain, and withdrawal symptoms that come with prescription opioid use, but research about its effects is mixed.
Studies published in 2017 and 2018 found it to have few negative effects, including nausea and constipation, but those were generally only present at high doses or when taken frequently. Another 2018 study found that among those taking higher amounts, it didn’t affect how well they moved, or their memory, attention, or mental control skills.
But other new studies suggest that as use of kratom rises, so do reports of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal when people try to stop taking it.

The NIDA says that kratom can cause effects similar to opioids and stimulants, and that two of the compounds in kratom leaves interact with opioid receptors in the brain to produce sedation, pleasure, and decreased pain — especially when taken in large amounts.
Cornel N. Stanciu, MD, director of addiction services at New Hampshire Hospital, co-authored a 2018 study that reported on two case studies of patients who had severe and long-lasting withdrawal symptoms associated with kratom.
“Symptoms of withdrawal, just like with opioids, include both physiological, such as sweating, chills, body aches, [and] diarrhea, as well as psychological, such as insomnia, restlessness, irritability, anxiety, and mood disturbances, and sometimes hallucinations,” he says.
McCurdy says differing research results can be due to the lack of consistency of products in the commercial marketplace, given the lack of standardization or control. He also says these products are different from traditional preparations that have been used for centuries in Southeast Asia.
A June 2018 study that looked at kratom as single compounds in their purest form found one compound that does not have abuse or addiction potential in rats, but another that might, and could compel the user to take other opiates. But McCurdy stresses these results don’t mean that holds true for kratom. Regulatory Wrangling.

In February 2018, the FDA said scientific evidence found opioid compounds in kratom, which it says shows its potential for abuse. Gottlieb, the FDA commissioner, has said he knows kratom has gotten more popular in recent years. He says that’s because of “unsubstantiated claims about its purported benefits.” He also says he knows people have unmet needs when it comes to treating pain or addiction disorders. But he says there’s no reliable evidence to support kratom’s use for that.
Gottlieb has repeatedly told consumers to avoid the herbal supplement — citing a variety of concerns, including a salmonella outbreak connected to kratom that affected nearly 200 people in 41 states; kratom products containing bacteria, opioid components, and heavy metals; companies claiming their products have medical benefits; and his concerns that it could be addictive.

DEA spokesperson Katherine Pfaff says the agency is weighing evidence to determine whether kratom should be labeled a Schedule 1 drug. The agency is looking at an October 2017 Department of Health and Human Services report that recommends a ban on the chemicals in kratom, saying they should be permanently controlled in Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. Pfaff says the agency is reviewing “all available data” to make a final decision. She says there is no time frame for that decision, adding it can take months or even years.
This isn’t the first time federal regulators have had their eye on kratom. The DEA moved to ban the sale of it in 2016, citing an “imminent hazard to public safety.”
But that decision was put on hold after protests and outrage. The DEA says it is considering public comments made at that time as part of its current scheduling decision.
Years later, pushback remains strong. The American Kratom Association submitted a petition in support of kratom from more than 40,000 Americans in August. And in December, the group issued a 27-page policy report, in which it said the FDA has failed to provide the data or science showing kratom should be listed as a Schedule I substance.
The association is encouraging kratom manufacturers to commit to quality standards to better police themselves. And McCurdy is bringing together scientists from around the world for a second international kratom research meeting in February. The first was held in 2017 in Malaysia.
“The goal is to come together and share our work and determine where gaps are in the research that we need to collectively fill to gain a more solid scientific profile of te plant,” he says. “But even though we are making advances on the science side, it is still a buyer-beware marketplace. I definitely believe there is legitimacy to using kratom to self-treat an opiate addiction. I believe it from the standpoint of the material we know is pure, unadulterated, and good. I just don’t know if all products available are consistently pure and good; in other words, it is not clear that a product that is labeled kratom is truly kratom, in the traditional sense.”

**‘Find a Way to Keep It Around’**
As for DeMott, she feels comfortable with the vendor she buys her kratom from, and says she has never been high from it or had withdrawal symptoms — even when she weaned herself off it for several weeks for a medical procedure. These days, she says she takes about 2.5 grams, three to six times a day — taking it on its own or mixing it with juice or water. It costs her about $60 a month, but she says the relief it brings is priceless.
“I still have bad days. It’s not a miracle cure. But I have way more good days,” she says. “It’s amazing how a plant can help so much.”
Even so, DeMott says she understands the government’s concerns about quality control. Her hope is that something can be worked out that doesn’t involve banning the plant.
“I do agree that we should have some regulation. I support that because it is important to make sure companies follow good manufacturing processes and test their products,” she says. “My hope is that we can all work together to find a way to keep it around and make sure everyone is getting something safe.”

Kratom Saved My Life

I was diagnosed with lupus in 2013 after spending several years with unexplained chronic pain, debilitating fatigue and other awful symptoms. Lupus was the first of many chronic conditions that I would be diagnosed with in coming years, including fibromyalgia, Sjogren’s syndrome, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

To treat these conditions, I was prescribed 28 different medications a day, including massive amounts of powerful opiates like oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine, along with high doses of benzodiazepines such as Ativan, Xanax and Klonopin.

Even though I was taking all these medications, I was still in pain, had bad anxiety and no quality of life. I was housebound and practically bedridden (or at least couch-ridden) most days. I had to use a cane, walker and even the walls in my house to walk on the really bad days, which is no way for a young woman and mother of two to live.

My health became so bad that in the fall of 2014 my doctors labeled me permanently disabled and told me to get in-home support services and file for SSI. I was only 29 years old.

I would have to tell my kids that mommy was in too much pain and too tired to take them to the park, play with them, pick them up, take them to school or be involved in any of their activities. This caused me and them to miss out on precious time and memories we can’t ever get back.

I couldn’t cook, clean, drive, go to the store or even go for a quick walk.
They would see and hear me hiding in the bathroom or bedroom crying from the pain and the feeling of failure I felt as their mom.

I couldn’t take a shower, brush my teeth and get dressed in the same hour because I would have to rest after every task I did. Getting dressed consisted of putting on clean pajamas, because that’s the only thing that wouldn’t hurt to wear. I became isolated and depressed.

**I stopped answering my phone, texts, messages and emails.**
The medications that the doctors put me on made me gain a ton of weight and made me feel incredibly dizzy, sleepy, forgetful, sick to my stomach and like I was in a fog. These side effects led to even more medications being prescribed, which meant more pills to add to the already huge amount I took daily. I was so depressed and hopeless that I actually attempted suicide a few times.

For over two years now I have enjoyed drinking my kratom tea a couple of times a day. It helps promote my mood and energy like a cup of coffee would. The tea also relieves my aching joints and muscles, making my chronic fatigue and pain much more bearable.
I am in no way cured and my pain is not completely gone, it never is and never will be. But the discomfort is down to a level that I can deal with, live with and function at. I still have bad days, but they are nowhere near as frequent or as bad as they used to be.

Kratom has greatly improved my quality of life and dramatically changed it for the better. I’m not spending every day on the couch or in bed anymore and my kids have their mom back. We are doing so much more together.
Not only are my kids happy, but so are my fiancé, family and friends. Everyone tells me they have seen a huge change in me and that I am much more like the old me, which is something I have longed for since everything started. For the first time in years I don’t feel like a prisoner in my own body and like my chronic illnesses and pain control me.

I am healthier, happier, take better care of myself and eat better. I’ve also been able to lose weight since I can cook and exercise again because I have better mobility. I even feel confident that I will be able to return to work again someday soon and plan on returning to school this year.

I look forward to each day and am excited for what the future will bring. Most importantly, I am setting a better example for my kids. All thanks to this plant. Kratom has truly not only saved my life but also given me renewed hope. Without this plant I do not believe I would still be alive today.

A contented mind is the greatest blessing a man can enjoy in this world.
A person that would consider ending a relationship for a vaccine for a virus
not much worse than the flu with a 99.5%+ survival rate has a severe mental illness. You fully believe in vaccination and are vaxxed yourself. You touch base with a friend who says they’re not vaxxed and have no plans to be. You love this person with your whole heart but also now realize how differently you see the world. They’re smart & educated. What do you do?

What’s the difference? Live and let live, it’s every individual’s choice, perhaps you’re not such a friend after all. You don’t know the full picture of their medical history so if you are a good friend you’d respect their choice and get on with life. #NotYourBodyNotYourBusiness Very simple, your unvaccinated friend should disown you for thinking like that. They would be far better off in the long run far away from people who think like you. You keep away from them for a couple of months, especially if they’re female, as you may still be shedding and adversely affecting their reproductive organs! Other than that,
if you’ve an ounce of intelligence, you’ll carry on seeing them as normal!

As long as both don’t widen their info sources, it remains unexplainable. Sceptics usually consume alternative info sources but still know what the mainstream thinks. Vice versa it’s mostly not the case. Listen to them with an open heart and an open mind. Just really listen, and try to understand their reasoning.
You might be shocked to find that actually, they make a lot of sense, and maybe there’s a really good reason, based on logic and concern, that they have taken that stance. I would read Plato’s dialogues and take Socrates’ advice to go out and make sure I really know the things that I think I know for sure.

Ask them where they got their information from and go through it, bit by bit, carefully. Especially the bit about the main inventor of the mRNA gene therapy “vaccine” who refuses it, as does Dr. Michael Yeadon who also had a hand in designing it. I struggle with this too. Not because I want to tell others what to do, however, because I worry that hospitals/ICUs will be overrun with the unvaccinated and those who need surgery/chemo etc. may not be able to get treatment and how could they think this is ok i.e. it effects other,

If you can’t do that, maybe ask for more details on how they made their decision? Does your friend have a problem with your decision? If not, what does that say about your values in relation to theirs?   You do realize the term ‘fully vaxxed’ is temporary? Will you then continuously be injected every 6 months in order to maintain what you seem to believe is a superior intellectual position?

They would be far better off in the long run far away from people who think like you. You keep away from them for a couple of months, especially if they’re female, as you may still be shedding and adversely affecting their reproductive organs! Other than that,

I’m dealing with this at the moment & being immunocompromised I’m afraid that I won’t be socializing with the unvaxxed, after having had a discussion with them explaining what I believe about the safety of the vaccines & importance of vaccination.  Same here. I will not put myself at risk (even when vaccinated) because I am severely immunocompromised.

The ‘vaccines’ do not offer sterile immunity and never intended to. Your friends are smart & educated you say, so maybe they hold some well thought through arguments. Maybe you could try to better understand first? Even let them question your own arguments/beliefs?

As long as both don’t widen their info sources, it remains unexplainable. Sceptics usually consume alternative info sources but still know what the mainstream thinks. Vice versa it’s mostly not the case. Listen to them with an open heart and an open mind. Just really listen, and try to understand their reasoning.
You might be shocked to find that actually, they make a lot of sense, and maybe there’s a really good reason, based on logic and concern, that they have taken that stance. I would read Plato’s dialogues and take Socrates’ advice to go out and make sure I really know the things that I think I know for sure.

Ask them where they got their information from and go through it, bit by bit, carefully.
