Is Your Endocannabinoid System in Balance?

The one major Jack Kungel taught me about being a cancer survivor is to be successful  you have to change everything about your life Mind, Body within spirit to live. For Jack   he overcame many obstacles in his life,  strictly by taking a, different outlook on his life. First thing every morning  living in Canada is he takes and early morning walk, loves his music and knows the importance of a balance Endocannabinoid System!!!  I remember Lisa Williams from Australia telling me through our Facebook Group that she cured her cancer. Solely through over loading her body with Omega 3’s through grass fed animal product and balancing out her nutrients in her body.

There is an Ancient belief that thoughts from one’s head emerge along with their hair; newer thoughts appear closer to the scalp, and the older ones are at the end of the longest strands.
Thoughts are sacred, and so is their Vessel. Thus, hair should be cleansed only with the Purest gifts of Nature.
We may not follow this ancient tradition now but we believe that Plant-Based, Cruelty-Free, and Zero-Waste hair care is the natural way forward.

Many of us don’t realize the important of “balance” in our daily lives.  Balancing work &     play is a critical part of our physical and mental health. Nutritional scientists have shown that balancing omega-6 fats (which are generally,  but not always, pro-inflammatory and therefore,  considered  the “bad guys”)  with omega-3 fats (the “good guys”) can impact a multitude of health outcomes. For example, replacing omega-6 rich processed foods (e.g., french fries,  potato chips,  and  pastries)  with  omega-3 rich healthy food ( salmon steak, sardines, and fresh leafy vegetables)  which improves cardiovascular health, brain health, and metabolic wellness. A similar analogy can be used when discussing endocannabinoid and endocannabinoid “tone/balance” systems.

What Is the Endocannabinoid System?

To briefly review, the endocannabinoid system is a group of specialized lipids, also their receptors,  and the enzymes that produce and degrade them.  Through direct and indirect actions, endocannabinoids are known to modulate and influence a variety of physiological systems, including appetite, pain, inflammation, thermoregulation, intra-ocular pressure, sensation, muscle control, energy balance, metabolism, sleep health, and stress responses, motivation/reward, mood, also memory.

What Are Cannabinoid Receptors?

Cannabinoid receptors are an important class of cell membrane receptors that are          also known to have a serpentine shape. Receptors are akin to “locks,” and the ligand compounds that bind to them are akin to “keys” in a lock & key system.  They have about seven sections that pass through the outer cell membrane. Cannabinoid receptors are also coupled to G-proteins, where a lot of the signaling “magic” happens when a molecule or compound binds to the outer portion of these receptors. The three main ligands that bind to cannabinoid receptors are all lipophilic (fatty or “fat-loving” compounds), and include endocannabinoids (synthesized within the body), phytocannabinoids (plant-derived, such as from cannabis), and synthetic cannabinoids.
The cannabinoid receptors are further divided into two main subtypes, known as CB1 and CB2. Although they have some similarity,  they are mostly differentiated by what tissue or organ system they are associated with in the body.  CB1 is found mostly in the brain,  with some presence in lung, kidney, liver, fat, heart, muscle, and bone.  CB1 receptors are also mostly associated with the psychoactive and euphoric aspects of THC.                      However, CB2 receptors are mostly found within the immune system and blood cells,    and secondarily in lesser density within the nervous system, liver, gut, muscle, and bone.

How Do Cannabinoid Receptors Contribute to the Balance of the Endocannabinoid System?

Endocannabinoid tone/balance is the relative contributions of CB1 vs. CB2 activity at      any given time. Research is accumulating that shows CB1 dominance is associated with increased perception  of  stressanxiety,  paranoia,  augmented appetite,  and decreased nausea/vomiting and pain, as well as enhanced immune surveillance, the latter of which has been demonstrated in certain cancer models.                                                                          In contrast, CB2 dominance is associated with decreased inflammation and tissue injury, in conjunction with improvements in metabolic health,  also insulin signaling/sensitivity, satiety, and energy balance. Using this information, some scientists are also zeroing in on specific CB1 blockers that could improve many of the symptoms of metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of risk factors that will increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Specifically, it includes increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, excess body fat around the waist, and abnormal cholesterol levels. Some research in this area  has  already  demonstrated:  peripheral CB1 inhibition reduces blood pressure and blood sugar and improves cholesterol levels, as well as leads to visceral fat loss resulting   in a lower risk for cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes.

What Does a Balanced Endocannabinoid System Look Like?

Recent biochemical and behavioral findings demonstrate “optimal” activation of CB1 receptors promotes antidepressant-like neurochemical changes and behavioral effects consistent with antidepressant/anti-stress activity in rodents. These findings reinforce   the importance of a balanced endocannabinoid system.
The endocannabinoid system is known to control the proliferation, differentiation, survival,  and immune competence of the often-neglected integumentary organ system (i.e., skin cells and hair).  Targeting & manipulating  endocannabinoid balance with the intent to normalize unwanted skin cell growth & skin inflammation might be extremely beneficial for a variety of human skin conditions (psoriasis,  eczema,  acne,  dermatitis, systemic sclerosis, etc).
Our initial example drawing comparisons between the omega-6: omega-3 essential polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) balance and the CB1: CB2 endocannabinoid tone            is even more appropriate as dietary PUFA intake … has been shown to influence the    levels of anandamide & 2-AG (the 2 most prominent endocannabinoids in humans). Therefore, the balance of omega-6 and omega-3 PUFA is an important modifier for         the activation and suppression of cannabinoid signaling in cells.
To illustrate this point, Hutchins-Weise et al. published findings from rodent model          of immobilization-disuse atrophy. . . . in combination with fish oil supplementation.       The increased omega-3 levels from fish oil consumption caused significant changes           in the endocannabinoid system (increased receptors of CB2, but decreased levels of           2-AG and CB1 activity) of the mice. By sensitizing the muscle to counter the effects            of immobilization and hind-limb suspension.

What Happens When the Endocannabinoid System Becomes Imbalanced?

Keep in mind that “balance” is critical, as research has shown if we tip the scales                heavily in the direction of CB1 inhibition, there may be, an associated decrease in     fertility, with increased risk of depression, mood disturbance, and also immuno -suppression.  An overabundance of CB1 signaling also has been associated with       increased psychoactivity, systemic inflammation, cardiovascular risk, diabetes,                 and obesity. In contrast, CB2 over-activation and dominance could also lead to      decreased immune function and diminished wound healing.
Chemical compounds called cannabinoids are found in marijuana and also are       produced naturally in the body from omega-3 fatty acids. A well-known cannabinoid          in marijuana,  tetrahydrocannabinol,  is responsible  for some of its euphoric effects,       but it also has anti-inflammatory benefits.  A new study in animal tissue  reveals the cascade  of  chemical reactions  that  convert omega-3 fatty acids  into cannabinoids             that have anti-inflammatory benefits — but without the psychotropic high.

The findings are published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Foods such as meat, eggs, fish & nuts contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which    the body converts into endocannabinoids — cannabinoids the body produces naturally,      a University of Illinois professor of comparative biosciences and biochemistry, who led   the study.  Aditi Das said, Cannabinoids in marijuana and endocannabinoids produced    in the body can support the body’s immune system and therefore are attractive targets    for the development of anti-inflammatory therapeutics, she said.
In 1964, the Israeli chemist Raphael Mechoulam was the 1st to discover and isolate THC from marijuana. To test whether he had found the compound that produces euphoria, he dosed cake slices. . .with 10 milligrams of pure THC and gave them to willing friends at a party.  Their reactions,  from nonstop laughter,  to lethargy , to talkativeness,  confirmed that THC was a psychotropic cannabinoid.

After THC is ingested, your liver goes to work on it, converting it into other molecules       in order to eliminate it from your body. These other molecules are called metabolites. Usually metabolites  are less active than  the parent molecule,  but sometimes you get       one that is even more potent! What is especially interesting about THC metabolites is     that their levels in your body can be more than 10 times higher if you take cannabis in     an  edible or ingested form rather than through other routes (smoking it.)
It wasn’t until 1992 that researchers discovered endocannabinoids produced naturally      in the body. Since then, several other endocannabinoids have been identified, but not       all have known functions.
Cannabinoids bind to two types of cannabinoid receptors in the body — one that is       found predominantly in the nervous system and one in the immune system, Das said.
“Some cannabinoids, such as THC in marijuana or endocannabinoids can bind to          these receptors and elicit anti-inflammatory and anti-pain action,” she said.

“Our team also discovered an enzymatic pathway that converts omega-3-derived endocannabinoids into more potent anti-inflammatory molecules that predominantly   bind to the receptors found in the immune system,” Das said. “This finding demonstrates how omega-3 fatty acids can produce some of the same medicinal qualities as marijuana, but without a psychotropic effect.”   Understanding the Metabolic Effects 0f Cancer!!!

What Does Metabolism Mean.. Can You Speed It UP!!!

Your metabolism is an ever changing part of your body and while it is not something      that you can see with your bare eyes,  your metabolism can tell a lot about your health     and wellness.  Those who make endless attempts at losing weight may be able to attest       to a slower metabolism whereas some skinnier people who claim they can eat anything may state they have a high metabolism. Regardless of your body type, your metabolism changes throughout the day, week, year, and over the course of your life on earth.

With that said, there are some factors that can change your metabolism, with lifestyle being a vital component. Let’s take a look at 20 foods that can increase your metabolism and assist with your weight management and Super ~ Charge Your Health.

1. Quinoa:  is considered a super food by many authorities and there is a reason. This food contains ample carbs and protein with even more vitamins, minerals, iron, and fiber. All of these nutrients come at a small cost though, as quinoa has been continuously found to be a food that can help to boost your metabolism and help you to lose weight.  Quinoa goes best when added with chicken  and bell peppers at lunch time.  While quinoa is also a grain, it’s loaded with good sources of protein, which can help to boost muscular activity in the body. In addition, quinoa is a good source of A & B vitamins
2. Broccoli:  The humble broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable that helps boost metabolism and promote weight loss. It is loaded with calcium, folate, fiber, vitamin A and vitamin C. It is packed with powerful phytochemicals that play an important role in the development of a strong immune system. Eating more broccoli means your body is 30 percent better at burning fat and making broccoli a great addition to your diet when you’re trying to lose weight and stay in shape.
3. Fruit and vegetables:  Celery, Carrots and Fruit such as blueberries and strawberries    are high in fiber, which helps your body burn fat by moving this macronutrient through your digestive system faster. Also, foods that are rich in vitamin C,  such as citrus fruits  help your body burn fat quickly & boost your metabolism.                                               According to a study conducted by the researchers at Scripps Clinic, citrus fruits such       as lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruit possess chemical properties that help decrease insulin levels, promoting weight loss.
4. Olive Oil: Many people actually stray from fats like olive oil because they contain high amounts of fat. However, it is these fats that are important for good health and eating more of this oil can help to boost your polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat content. The unsaturated fats in olive oil may play a metabolic role in your health and the extra boost that you get may add up over the years. Be cautious as to not over consume any oil, as this will negate the metabolic boost.   Drizzle it on your salad next time you order out.
5. Green Tea:  Green tea contains a natural stimulant called caffeine that increases the heart rate, triggering the metabolism to burn at a higher rate. Also, it stimulates the use    of fatty acids, thus avoiding fat storage. One cup of green tea contains approximately 30 milligrams of caffeine.  According to a study that was published  in the April 2010 issue    of the journal ”Physiology and Behavior,” the combination of green tea & caffeine helps improve fat oxidation and weight maintenance.                                                                      Caffeine is not only harmful when taken in moderation, but too much caffeine can cause nausea, increased blood pressure and insomnia. The green tea chemical epigallocatechin gallate, or ECGC,  helps boost your metabolism and improves brain and nervous system function. ECGC is an antioxidant that helps protect against heart disease and stroke. In addition, it helps fight cancer, promote weight loss, lower cholesterol and boost your body’s immune system.
6. Almonds:  are a great snack and a really tasty nut. They’re packed full of nutrients and studies have shown almonds can lower cholesterol, give you a huge boost in vitamin E and fiber, also helps  you lose weight and boost your metabolism with their low calorie content and high nutritional density. Eat a handful of almonds as a snack each day and you’ll soon start seeing the benefits.
7. Asparagus:  In one cup of chopped asparagus you can expect to get around four grams    of protein, helping boost your metabolism and making your healthy diet much tastier. Asparagus is really versatile, yet seasonal, meaning you won’t be able to enjoy it fresh       all year round. This metabolism-boosting food is great chopped, grilled or steamed.
8. Garlic:  part of the allium family (meaning it’s related to chives, shallots, onions and    the likes) lower your blood cholesterol, stimulate glutathione production and boost your immune system.  Garlic also improves your metabolism,  meaning the other good foods you eat will be digested and used efficiently.
9. Avocado:  is full of protein. You’ll get roughly 2g of protein in half an avocado.              The fruit also contains all nine of the amino acids that our body needs, including omega-3 fatty acids – meaning it’s a great source for people who aren’t a fan of fish! The protein in avocado greatly improves your metabolism for good health and weight loss.
10. Chia or (Hemp Heart) Seeds:  are very tiny black seeds that resemble small dots.            A once serving, which is a lot, contains under 150 calories, some protein, but more than ten grams of fiber.  This fiber content is almost 50 percent of your daily needs and it can certainly be a good boost to consume more chia throughout the day.                                  Perhaps the high fiber content of chia seeds is the reason behind a slight metabolic boost, but it could also be the combination of proteins as well as fiber.  Chia can be sprinkled in oatmeal and you can even make your own pudding using chia seeds and milk. Hemp Seed Hearts can be sprinkled on salads or yogurt and provides omega 3’s.
11. Spinach:  is one of those amazing, dark leafy greens that is packed full of antioxidants that protect your body against oxidative stress. Studies also having shown that spinach can help protect the brain against this stress, and even help prevent colon cancer, heart disease and bowel cancer. And To top it all off, spinach is great as a part of a balanced diet if you’re intending to improve your metabolism overall. Spinach can also help your digestive system become more efficient.
12. Red Beans: Red beans, when prepared properly (so don’t refry them!), are great for your metabolism. They’re full of resistant starch, which repairs your intestine’s lining to fight against infection, cancer and inflammation.  Red beans have also been shown as powerful metabolism boosters!
13. Whole Eggs: have not been very popular in recent years as egg whites have become    the new and healthier way to eat in the morning.  However,  raw eggs are a good health boosting food and they contain protein and valuable minerals to help boost your health  for the day.  Whole eggs taste great  and they give off a small thermic effect after eating. This thermic effect comes with most all foods, but it is higher in the metabolic boosting foods. Fried eggs taste great, but hard boiled eggs can be consumed any time and make      a fine snacking option as well.
14. Cottage Cheese & Greek Yogurt: If you’re not intolerant of dairy products, Cottage cheese is very high in sodium in each serving, but it also is very high in protein, closely comparing to lean meats in this category. Perhaps the high sodium content adds to the thermic effect of food, but cottage cheese, certainly gives a metabolic boost… due to its high protein content.  Add some fresh fruit,  berries, or even cinnamon to your cottage cheese and enjoy it as a morning meal or late day snack.                                                     Finally, think about incorporating Greek yogurt into your breakfast. You’ll get around    20g of protein per six ounces of yogurt, and it can be paired nicely with antioxidant-rich fruits like blueberries, and even eaten with oats.
15. Brown Rice:  is one of the most widely consumed foods in the entire world and the     best variety for health is the brown rice. This type contains all of the nutrients and you  also gain more fiber in each serving than the white rice type. Brown rice takes longer to digest than white rice because the body needs to breakdown more of the food.                   The process of digesting all of the rice is where you get your metabolic boost and it can actually last a good while. Rice made in a rice cooker is one of the easiest and best ways    to enjoy this food.
16. Dark Chocolate:  is still considered a sweet food, but the good news is that it contains nutrients that may help with your brain functioning,  cholesterol,  blood pressure, as well  as your metabolism.  Dark chocolate, with at least 85 percent cacao content, can certainly cause a quick thermic effect following a light snacking. It is important to not over-indulge this food, as it can cause weight gain in a hurry.                                                                             A small serving size of dark chocolate (unlike its cousin milk chocolate) is a good way to enjoy this, as eating the chocolate is more satisfying than drinking it.
17. Low-Fat Milk:  is food for your health and especially for your bones. Milk contains   high amounts of calcium, vitamin D, protein, and sometimes potassium if it is fortified. The combination of the nutrients as well as the little amount of fat in milk makes this a good option for your metabolism as well. Milk may also add a slight thermic effect after consuming it, which can help you to lose weight. Many people who attempt weight loss drink milk before a meal as a way to boost metabolism and to curb appetite.                    Ways to Enjoy: A glass drank straight up is a good choice.
18. Water: It might sound off, but water is actually a great thing for boosting your metabolism. Sure it’s just water, but it’s essential for our good health. Remember:          your bone is 20% water, your brain is 75% water and we need around eight glasses             of the stuff each day.
19. Coffee:  should be a no brainer when it comes to boosting metabolism. Coffee has      long been shown to benefit brain health as well as improve certain aspects in daily life.  The thermic effect of coffee is not necessarily from caffeine, but it is a plus.                   Coffee contains many compounds that boost enzymes in the body, which is why you feel great after having your cup in the morning. A black cup of coffee is the best way to enjoy this, but adding a slight creamer to it may help to boost metabolism as well.
20. Hot Peppers & Red Onions:  Peppers contain a chemical compound called capsaicin that gives your metabolism a boost and increases your heart rate. Capsaicin will increase your body’s internal temperature, thus helping you burn more calories.  Also,  it helps to promote weight loss. According to a study from Laval University in Quebec, men who ate snacks that contain red pepper and drank coffee burned nearly 1,000 more calories a day than their control group counterparts. Red Onions are a good source of the antioxidant quercetin. Quercetin may help increase energy expenditure, or calorie burn, in your body while also reducing inflammation, says Laura K. Stewart, lead author for a 2008 study published in the journal “Metabolism.”
21. Salmon:  As well as being delicious, salmon is low in saturated fat and packed full of protein. It also contains loads of omega-3 fatty acids, which help your body maintain good health and gives you cells the nutrients they need to reproduce and stay strong. Omega-3 fatty acids help keep your heart in shape and your bad cholesterol down, helping your metabolism stay strong and efficient.
22. Lean-Protein Foods:  Lean-protein foods such as lean chicken, turkey, nuts, lentils & grains help to run metabolism at full speed.  These foods help you build lean muscle tissue and lose fat.  They provide a feeling of fullness for a long time.  High-protein foods such as beef contain essential amino acids that help increase energy expenditure and metabolism. A high-protein diet also prevents weight gain after weight loss.
23. Oatmeal:  Love a bowl of porridge in the morning?                                                                Well you’re doing wonders for your metabolism! Oatmeal is extremely healthy, as long as you’re not eating  the pre-packaged products you can buy from the supermarket. Prepare your own oatmeal and mix it with blueberries and other fruits,  and you’ll fill yourself up, get the soluble fiber you need to keep your digestive system working, and also boost your metabolism at the same time.
24. Gluten Free Whole Grain:  Don’t forget about whole grain. It’s time to ditch all the products made of bleached flour and to go for whole grain products that are full of fiber, and able to slow down the release of sugar into the blood. Whole grains are amazing for your immune system too,  allowing your cells,  to properly use the nutrients provided to them.
25. Legumes:  Like red beans, legumes will pack a good amount of protein, helping boost your metabolism and give your cells the resources they need. In a half cup of legumes you can expect up to 10grams of protein.

Fear Less ~ Slay More

Hello My Name is Rachel Bykovny.

First and foremost, I am a wife, pet mama, cancer wellness advocate, and a mindset coach. My sole mission in life is to help others navigate the messy waters of healing. I experience so much joy sharing the tools I utilize to maintain a Cancer Healing Mindset.  Living with cancer does not have to be doom and gloom. With the right attitude and motto, you too will feel empowered to “Fear Less, Slay More” just as I do.

When I started My blog in 2015,  I declared myself to be the “Breast Cancer Maven.”        By definition,  a maven  is an accumulator of knowledge  who seeks to pass on their information to others. To be honest, I never wanted to be a maven of this subject,            who does? Post-diagnosis, I found myself feeling helpless, lost, and like a victim.
My plan of attack to avoid the victim mentality was through knowledge, strength, and empowerment. Learning as much as I could about all aspects of cancer allowed me to    play a very active role in my treatment and healing process. Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet to  “cure cancer” or  “prevent cancer.” There are ways to focus on factors     you can control in order to give yourself the best chance for living a long healthy life.

I strive each and every day to improve the way I look at the world. I wake up daily            and make the choice to believe that it is possible to experience a fulfilled and hopeful      life despite having cancer. The decisions I make are geared towards living with more passion, purpose, joy, love, adventure, and excitement.
This blog is a way for me to share my unique experiences in a totally uncut raw way.         My heart overflows with joy anytime my experiences helps just one person turn their mindset around. Opening the door of possibility of belief that they too have the right          to choose a more positive and healing mindset. Cancer no longer has to be a state of     living in constant fear.  Instead we can choose to see this as an opportunity to seize           the day with genuine gratitude and a fearless healing mindset.

Read About My Initial Diagnosis in 2012 Here

and here is my CANCER story:
What I am sharing is a truthful account of my experience since discovering my    recurrence in the summer of 2016. It was one small lump in my breast right where               it had also been removed four years before in my 2012 with conventionally treated (surgery, radiation, hormonal) scarline.
I spent the next 2.5 years treating my cancer holistically rotating various protocols every six weeks and monitoring my progress along the way. My primary treatment plan involved the use of Bloodroot Black salve  both internally and externally.  If you are unfamiliar with this, I will warn you to be careful when googling.  The images are not for the faint of heart. While this process was very painful and life hindering, I was able to keep my cancer stable until the beginning of the year.

Then something changed.
It was as if my body decided enough was enough. . . with the painful salves and it started producing tumors in both my breasts. These tumors were growing rapidly and multiplying like rabbits. I was declining so rapidly it was almost unbelievable.  By the time all was said and done  I now have lesions in my brain,  lymphs,  breasts,  sternum,  spine,  sacrum and lungs.
I began to lose hope and started saying things I had l never said before like “I don’t      know how much longer I can do this”  or  “What is the point in fighting so hard just            to suffer like this?”  I started asking for guidance on which direction to go.
In swoops the Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers. https://hope4cancer.com/ I have a        few virtual friends that had been posting about their great successes there.  I decided        it  was time to do something different to try and get different results.
When I arrived there, I wheeled into the building because I couldn’t walk. I was so sick from the airplane  (because of brain tumors I did not know I had)  they went to work on making me comfortable right away. I was violently vomiting and had the worst headache of my life. I couldn’t swallow even water without choking.
My first 7 days in the clinic, I was being fed and hydrated via IV nearly 20 hours a day   and could hardly leave my room. My state of affairs was looking pretty bleak. Also My husband said he literally said his goodbyes to me on a few occasions. Despite being so  sick, I was determined to keep pushing.
I spent day and night going from therapy to therapy working to heal my body. With some of my favorites being getting bloodwork completed  to see when my body will be ready to begin IPT (low dose chemo),  also Photodynamic Therapy and favorite nap times is in the hyperbaric chamber. As soon as my head hits the pillow in there, I am knocked out for an entire hour.
My Drs. and nurses held my hand and never once let on that they thought I was hopeless. Instead they took care of me the whole time and made sure my pain was managed. Slowly but surely as time passes I am healing each and everyday.
I just keep doing the work, receiving the treatments, and keeping faith that I am a walking miracle. Perhaps your healing path leads you down a different road. A road filled with different forks, potholes, and u-turns. Regardless of how you are traveling to find healing, one constant is your mindset. You must have the right mindset if you want to heal.
I have been learning through my self reflection that I have never really dealt with any emotions my whole life. Anything bad that happened to me was shoved in “a black hole”   in my mind, never to be thought of or found again. As I am going through this healing journey, my mind is starting to unlock these memories one by one. Some of the things I am remembering have me double-taking and wondering if they are real memories or just something my mind made up.

Here at the clinic we practice recall healing. Basically the belief is that cancer is also         an emotional disease. In questioning many patients, you will find that typically within     six months or a year before their diagnosis, something traumatic occurred in their life. Something that was shocking enough. . . . that it set off some automatic physiological responses in the body because you went into fight or flight mode. It could be as major        as a death, divorce, job loss, relocation, etc.

I have been having a really challenging time narrowing down what my trauma was that caused my stable cancer to go haywire so quickly. I try          to avoid dwelling  on the past too much  as I am really present moment focused, however, I think it is important to get some clarity up on what happened so I can work on healing it.

Unbreakable faith and belief that miracles happen.                  If you are willing to do the work,  to buy all the way in, to do whatever it takes to get   better, your chances of healing are going to multiply.  I know how important sleep is         for healing. Especially during the hours of 10pm-2am which is when I have my most problematic sleep patterns.                                                                                                                    I do wear blue light blocking glasses starting at 9pm which helps let my mind know          its time to start winding down. I have this new sleep music device, I got at the clinic        that has been helping as well. The strange thing is that I wake up at 2am without fail    every night. At that time, my mind thinks its already slept the whole night.
All of a sudden I just feel like I have made this remarkable turnaround. I am walking around much easier without getting winded. Also most of my hard tumors are softer, smaller, or gone. The worst offender has gone from a huge angry red walnut to a tiny     little peanut in just  five weeks.  These are results I can see and feel!
I am a miracle in the works. I see how I get better everyday. It’s unexplainable but I just keep believing I am gonna be one of those survivor stories of how I was revived from my deathbed to live the long and happy life I deserve. I’m shooting for a celebration in New Orleans for my 40th birthday this year.  I know I am going to make it with ease because       I have unwavering faith in my ability to heal.

Everyone comes in here and does different programs which vary in cost.  I worked with Claudette and loved her.                                                                                                                    Her number is +1 (619) 536-9141  and her email is  claudette@hope4cancer.com if you   want to give her a call. They are not “pushy salespeople” and genuinely want to help line you up for the care you need. Also, Tara Mann is the patient advocate for the center and can point you in right direction as well or answer some questions.

Remember  the price is  “all inclusive.”  From accommodations to gourmet vegetarian   meals to laundry service is included for you and a caregiver so you can focus entirely on treatment and healing. It includes hassle free transportation to – from the airport and all around for errands. With an interesting side trip to Rosarito being only 20 minutes away where Sanoviv another fine clinic is located.  The culture is really neat there.  The beach    is fun and there is this really cool little flea market kinda experience.

Moving forward: I created a Facebook group because this is the help I need right now. Sometimes our best lessons are those we try to teach others.  Keeping my mind right    while getting better is really working.  I also picked my blog back up  and  have  been  writing there. My husband jokes that these brain tumors have awakened my creative    side. Sleeping right now is off and on, so I have alot of waking hours to do things and wishing you love while I am also providing guidance on your journey.  http://www.lovelightpeas.com/what-i-do-every-day-to-slay-cancer/

Love and light to you all.

10 Ways to Boost Our Immune System

Living in a Socialist country like Canada cost of living can exceed the mean. The tax rate   in Canada are usually higher than in the United States.  In Canada,  tax revenue makes up 38.4 percent  of the GDP,   in the United States,  our  tax revenue  makes  up  28.2 percent. This is largely due to the differences in the way each government spends money. However,  when your paying higher taxes you get better roads,  educational system  and  health care. Because its universal and free of charge?  However,  from 2005 to 2015, the United States saw an average of 1,079,377 immigrants becoming permanent @ year where as in Canada they averaged 236,753 immigrants. Maybe we should invest in health care not a wall? 🙁

The United States approach is limited — in what it can offer patients and not all patients   fall in the western medicine hole. If it works for you, fantastic. However, Our Government feels The US economy would crash if we had efficient health care. We have so many people employed in the system where we have to go to 10 appointments to try to get better. But if you actually became well with a few visits — then all those jobs  would be unnecessary and they would loose jobs. When we get a 3 hour 10 minute knee scope that cost our insurance $10,300.  Not to mention a MRI charges as little as $425 or as high as $13,259, depending on where you go and length of the scan.

No politician wants those type of medical practices — tied to their name —  so they keep “claiming we will fix” the problem. Also Health care will NEVER be affordable unless we have health care that works. There isn’t the same quality of care for everyone because only a handful of the doctors are so far out in front of all the others with breakthrough research and knowledge.  Much like chemo sensitivity testing that improves your odds when being treated with chemotherapy.

Also another thing that is quite obvious when it comes to prescriptions we have to pay astronomical prices for pays insurance refuse to pay for and end up getting a pill that’s not as effective.  Brilanta versus Plavix.  The cost for Brilinta oral tablet 60 mg  is around $377 for a supply of 60 tablets,  depending on the pharmacy you visit.  Plavix cost around $200 for a month supply.  The cost for Clopidogrel (generic) oral tablet 75 mg. is around $13 for   a supply of 30 tablets, depending on the pharmacy/insurance you have with a retail price $102.26 to insurance. Our systems does not work so well and pays to shop around!!!

Within the entire system they’re sadly just masking symptoms at a greater cost to the whole. Because I seriously doubt that anyone goes into the field of medicine without the true passion to see people and animals regaining their true health.  As we  know,  the key to getting better is to seek out the root cause and not treat symptoms.  We have to figure out what is causing the symptoms in order to heal. The body wants to heal and given the right ingredients it will heal, so we have to put our investigator hat on to figure this out.

There’s a modality that treats root cause and addresses symptoms as well. Unfortunately, for those with chronic conditions like Lyme and mold toxicity, mainstream medicine also is pretty much useless, and integrative/functional medicine doctors most often don’t take insurance. S0 there’s a significant segment of the population that falls through the cracks. I’ve done alternative therapies, but I’m not familiar with energy medicine, per se. Can you explain a little?

The body is energy fundamentally and there is technology that can analyze the body’s energetic field to see imbalances and weaknesses and quantifies it.  It is really amazing stuff to help people better understand what is going on in their bodies. This field is also advancing all the time. There are all kinds of therapies out there, However, you need to address the root cause of the issue and energy medicine helps with that. SensitivImago     is absolutely amazing.  The SI  (which I experienced in the past)  also shows emotional burdens.  Financial stress, hardship, fear of self (suicidal) and feeling of weakness.

The SensitivImago shows the parts of the body that also becomes affected when stressed.    It dramatically helps people to see  how their emotional regulation and also focus on their thoughts affect how their bodies function. I’m glad that others are out there doing this and I also had many health issues,  was losing the battles until I found this. Many people don’t want to know their psychological stresses — strangely. They’ll believe the physical energies but not how the emotional energies are part of the feedback loop.

We see all kinds of things compromising the immune system.  Obviously,  the immune system needs  to be strong to deal  with these opportunistic infections.  It is all about the immune system doing its job.  These things  get out of hand  when  the immune system is  not able to keep things in check.  The issues are multi-factorial and energy medicine deals with the whole person.  Emotions are very important is this whole process.  You can do a great job in eliminating pathogens,  but if the mind is not right it will be harder to heal so it is very complex the whole healing process.

The technology that have encompasses many areas in regards to healing including the emotional state of clients which is extremely important. There really is no one answer to these issues but needs to be approached from a whole body perspective. Mind, Body and Soul. I gained all this insight due to my own chronic illness and searching for answers to help me since western medicine could not help me but give me an anxiety pill. I knew there was a better way to heal than pharmacopoeia.

Enhancement of systemic immune function: if you have cancer you have a stressed Immune system, you have T cells not functioning properly,  Job of GSH:  The immune system works best if the lymphoid cells  have properly balanced glutathione. The cloning  of T-cells consumes large quantities of cysteine.  Macrophages (type of white blood cells), which are only present in sufficient quintiles when there is sufficient glutathione, provide the cysteine for the T-cell cloning.

Glutathione regulates the binding,  internalization,  degradation and T-cell proliferation     by increasing, as much as two times, the number of binding cellular receptors.  Also more receptors equates to more T-cells being produced simultaneously (multiple T-cell cloning). Cellular GSH also affects the growth and replication of T-cells through growth stimulating cytokines.  This is Pretty Important I would say,  do you have adequate GSH?  NOT unless you replenish on a daily basis.

The tips below will help keep your T Cells healthy and functioning to their optimum for YOU!!! Functions of T cells include direct attacks on bacteria, viruses and foreign tissues and producing substances called cytokines  with direct responses and activities in other immune cells and cancer cells.

The human body is designed to defend against attacks all day long and to fend off germs, bacteria, and viruses. One of the biggest lines of defense is the immune system, and while it is designed to be self sufficient and does a great job most of the time, every now & then   it needs a little extra boost. That is where these ten easy tips can come into play.

1. Eat lean protein once a day at the least. No one food can make you immune to cold, flu, or other viruses and bacteria, but lean meat can be a great food to start off your immune system kick start program. One of the most important reasons why…lean meat should be a part of your daily diet is that many meats are full of the powerful antibodies that help protect the body and these are often made up of protein.                                       Many other immune-boosting nutrients can be found in all types of meats. Seafood is known to be high in the omega 3’s  &  other nutrients that can boost brain functions and regulate hormone levels that keep us healthy.  Chicken and fish  are  full of protein,  zinc, iron, and other essential nutrients  that help keep the body functioning as it should. Nuts are also good sources of protein and many trace elements and minerals that are necessary to support a healthy immune system.

2. Cook with healthy oils instead of all the man made stuff. Natural olive and canola oils are the best ones that you can use in your daily menu planning. These oils are high in healthy fats, which ac as lubricants for cell structures and helps improve the relay of messages between cells. It is also thought to help with the develop of new cells and the repairing of sick and damaged cells.  Be careful not to consume too much though.  Just because it is healthier than other alternatives, consuming too much natural oils can still bog down your system and make you less able to fight off infections and illness.

 3. Daily fruit and veggies is a must. Most health care professionals recommend    that people try to get around 5 cups of veggies and fruit every day. Most veggies are good but the ones with bright green, deep red, and oranges are usually the best. Vitamin A is a common nutrient found  in sweet potatoes and leafy greens  and helps the body produce white blood cells  and gives a boost to the body’s ability  to fight off infections effectively. Citrus fruits as well as papayas,  peppers,  and  broccoli are high in vitamin C,  which has been shown to help the absorption of iron and boosts the immune system. The final vital nutrient the body needs from vitamins an fruits is vitamin E, most com only found in nuts and greens. Give your body and immune system the boost it needs by including fresh fruit and vegetables in every meal you eat during the day.

4. Limit the number of alcoholic drinks that you have. One serving size a day is usually fine for most people, and even two can be alright for some, however, drinking more than that in a day, over a period of time…. could suppress and weaken the immune system. New research has shown  that consuming excessive amounts of alcohol can be very toxic to immune system cells that serve the body  by seeking out,  identifying, and targeting foreign cells such as germs, viruses, and bacteria. This can cause serious life — threatening medical conditions,  damage to the body’s cells,  allow infections to run rampant, and to slow down the process of healing.

5. Get enough vitamin D. If you are having a serious lack of energy or get up and        go, you might want to have your levels of vitamin D checked out. About 50 nmol/L will      be enough in most cases to keep your healthy and to power your body to maintain your overall health; less than 30 nmol/L signals low vitamin D levels and can pinpoint some issues of healthy and motivation. New research has been found that points to vitamin D  being an important boost to the body’s immune response and low levels make someone more susceptible to seasonal colds and flu.  Most people suffer from low levels and it is found in very few foods and through safe exposure to the sun; this is why many people need to increase Vitamin D  levels with natural supplements.

6. Reduce the levels of stress that you put up with each day. 1 of the biggest immune system killers is stress levels. Many studies have shown that stress can greatly alter how well the body functions  and how well your immune system  can  protect you      and keep you healthy.  Preliminary research has found that when stress levels flare up, something goes awry with  the white blood cells levels  and functions.  This means the body’s immune system is less responsive to inflammation. Stress impacts every part of   the body and raises a person’s risk of illness. Finding ways to relax and destress can go       a long way in keeping you healthy- music, yoga, meditation, and walking are the most common ways to relieve stress.

7. Get up and moving for a few minutes throughout the day. Even if you work      at a job that requires  you to sit at a desk most of the day,  you need to make sure you get    up and walk for 5-10 minutes a few times a day. Getting up or just a minute or two every few hours is also important to your overall health. Getting around a 1/2 hour of physical activity each day — even just walking around the office — or getting up and doing some stretches  or a short yoga exercise,  is a huge boost  to the effectiveness  of your immune system. Exercise has been shown to help the antibodies and white blood cells moving in the blood stream  and get them spread throughout  you body faster.  This can help your body detect warning signs of invasions by pathogens sooner and making your body can begin defensive measures sooner, therefore reducing your chances of getting sick. Keep  the routines moderate, and tailored to your environment to get the maximum results.

8. Take care of your gut.  The microbes that naturally occur living in your gut help to improve digestion and food absorption but they also play a role in hormone levels and the body’s ability to fight off a number of illnesses.  It is thought that as much as 70 percent of your body’s naturally occurring immune system either starts,  relies on, or is located in the gut. Probiotics are “good” bacteria and are necessary to keeping your entire body balanced and healthy, which is why eating fermented foods. . .because they contain these probiotics naturally. So with these healthy immune system boosters in mind. . . you can help fight off illnesses and infections before they even attack. Get your body in shape and back on track!

9.  Grief Can Weigh Down Your Immune System.  Experiencing the loss of a          loved  one takes a heavy toll  on your emotional health,  however,  it doesn’t stop there.    The extreme stress that results during bereavement affects you physically,  too,  and can manifest as both chronic disease and acute illness.  Stress also plays a major role in your immune system, and can impact your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, brain chemistry, blood sugar levels, and hormonal balance.                                                                                    This disparity seems to be due to the balance of two stress hormones,  cortisol  and  dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate  (DHEAS), which respond differently to grief with     age.  In short,  while the stress hormone cortisol  is known to suppress the immunity, DHEAS is immune enhancing,  so maintaining a relatively balanced ratio helps keep     your immune system functioning properly.  It is through this latter factor, hormonal balance that grief may leave you vulnerable to infections and other illness.

10. You Have to Excite Your Immune System. Doing fun stuff increases your levels of IgA, or immunoglobulin A. IgA has also been shown to increase resistance to sicknesses like colds. Studies show that by upping your heart rate once or twice a week leads to thirty percent higher levels of IgA.  Through excitement and having fun or FAITH  is giving your immune system a definite boost. Combine that with the fact. . . .it lowers your stress levels and generally makes you feel like a super star, you’ll be in the best position to smack down the your next cold and reduces your chances of succumbing a chronic illness.

Alzheimer’s & Dementia

The Man Who Can Solve 41 Rubik’s Cubes—

Marcin “Maskow” Kowalczyk is a speed-cuber. That means he can solve a Rubik’s Cube very quickly. Oh yeah …. he can do it while blindfolded. Has Advice For Doing Amazing Things With Your Brain !!!!!

Lack of sleep can rob your brain of the skills required to successfully navigate life, and   new research has added  another impairment to the list.  In this study (described here), https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/03/170323132524.htm  people  deprived    of sleep for a night had trouble identifying a facial expression as happy or sad. That’s on top of the purely cognitive impairments that sleep deprivation can bring. We frequently discuss how sleep issues lead to brain issues, and we will have more to say as we analyze the results of The World’s Largest Sleep Study.  The authors speculate  this  could  affect everyday social interactions.  Misreading a spouse or co-worker as happy when they are actually sad could cause an inappropriate response, putting a strain on relationships.

The Treatable Disease That’s Misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s.
It tends to strike older Americans, causing memory loss, difficulty walking, and other symptoms that lead many doctors to misdiagnose it as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
But experts say up to 5 % of Americans diagnosed with those incurable brain disorders actually have a treatable condition called “normal pressure hydrocephalus.”
Many of the estimated 375,000 Americans who have NPH don’t even know it, because      its symptoms are strikingly similar to dementia, mental-health specialists say. As a result, thousands of NPH patients never benefit from surgical procedures  that can miraculously correct and reverse the condition.
Gary Small, M.D., a University of California-Los Angeles professor of psychiatry and aging, tells Newsmax Health that NPH can be detected by MRI or CT scans of the brain that help patients get the help they need. But doctors never order such tests for untold numbers of Americans with NPH.

“What can happen, and I’m not sure how frequent this misdiagnosis occurs, is people go in to their doctor with what look like dementia, or Alzheimer’s symptoms or even Parkinson’s — memory problems, and this unsteady gait, and incontinence,” says Dr. Small, director of the Longevity Center and author of The Alzheimer’s Prevention Program.

“The doctor may think it looks like so many of my other [dementia] cases that I’m not going to bother to have a scan.” The condition, which is caused by a buildup of fluid in the brain, is rare and was only discovered in the 1960s, which may explain why it is frequently missed or misdiagnosed.

“In my 30 years of practice, I’ve seen at most three to four cases, so it’s not that common,” notes Dr. Small, author of The Mind Health Report newsletter. “But we always look for it and [doctors should] always check for it.”

NPH has received an increased dose of media attention recently, but still remains under the radar for many doctors and patients.

According to the Hydrocephalus Foundation, NPH occurs when the brain’s natural system for draining and absorbing cerebrospinal fluid malfunctions. The cavities in the brain — known as ventricles — enlarge and fill with extra fluid and put pressure on areas of the brain that control the movement, bladder functions, and mental processes such as memory, reasoning, problem solving, and speaking .

What causes NPH is unknown, but experts say it typically occurs after a head injury, stroke, meningitis, brain cancer, or surgery. Most people with NPH are diagnosed after age 60.  In addition to memory loss and a decline in mental processes (similar to Alzheimer’s), NPH typically can causes difficulty walking  (like Parkinson’s)  and urinary incontinence.   It can also cause speech problems, changes in mood and behavior, headache, nausea, and vision problems.

What causes Parkinson disease?
Parkinson disease arises from decreased dopamine production in the brain. The absence of dopamine makes it hard for the brain to coordinate muscle movements. Low dopamine also contributes to mood and cognitive problems later in the course of the disease. Experts don’t know what triggers the development of Parkinson disease.  As early onset Parkinson disease is often inherited and is the result of certain gene defects.

Experts don’t understand how or why dementia  often occurs with Parkinson disease.      It’s clear, though, dementia and problems with cognitive function are linked to changes    in the brain  that cause problems with movement.  As with Parkinson disease,  dementia occurs when nerve cells degenerate, leading to chemical changes in the brain. Parkinson disease dementia may be treated with medicines also used to treat Alzheimer’s disease, another type of dementia.

The Hydrocephalus Association estimates about 5 percent of Americans diagnosed with dementia actually have NPH,  with a total of 375,000 cases in the U.S. But that figure is expected to grow as the population ages. The good news is that NPH, unlike Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s — can be treated and its symptoms reversed,  but only if it is diagnosed correctly, Dr. Small notes. Brain scans can identify the hallmark signs of NPH — dilated ventricles in the brain that fill with cerebrospinal fluid.

“If you see what look like dilated ventricles, it suggests concern [for NPH],” he explains. “Those ventricles surround that fluid in the brain. Hydrocephalus means ‘water on the brain.’ ” NPH can be treated through surgery, during which a shunt — a thin tube — is implanted in the brain by a neurosurgeon to drain excess fluid.

The tube is threaded under the skin from the head to another part of the body, usually    the belly. A valve can be opened to release the fluid when the pressure builds up. The fluid drains harmlessly and is absorbed by the bloodstream.  Although a shunt operation won’t cure the underlying cause of NPH, it can relieve the symptoms.

Shunt operations don’t work for everyone, but the Hydrocephalus Association reports many patients report miraculously regaining their ability to remember, walk, talk, and control their physical and mental abilities. The earlier the NPH is diagnosed, the better  the odds a patient will benefit from surgery.

“If it’s recognized early you have the opportunity to intervene and have the benefit of that intervention, and release the pressure surgically,” Dr. Small says. “Neurosurgeons have a way of testing to see if surgery will help.”

A widely publicized study of NPH suggests almost one-third of American physicians     have never even heard of NPH.  Harold Conn, M.D., a retired Yale University professor, was diagnosed with NPH 10 years ago after mistakenly being told by his doctors that he had Parkinson’s.  After recovering he surveyed 166 doctors  and found  30 percent were completely unaware of NPH. Most graduated from medical school before NPH was first described in medical literature in 1965.

Dr. Small says the upshot is that family members of individuals with symptoms of dementia should be aware that they may actually be suffering from NPH or other conditions that are treatable.

“What’s important is people need to know if they’re having memory problems or a cognitive decline — even though Alzheimer’s is the leading cause of these things —       there are a lot of other things that can cause these symptoms,” he notes.

“It could be NPH, depression, a thyroid imbalance, anemia. Even a drug toxicity, a sleeping medicine, or medicine that interacts badly with other medicines [can] cause    this. And sometimes some of these causes are reversible.”

Dementia is an umbrella term for a group of symptoms caused by disorders that affect the brain, including devastating diseases like the most common form of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and lesser-known forms of dementia like Lewy body dementia. Even stroke can cause dementia.
More than 5 million people in the U.S. alone are living with Alzheimer’s, so there’s a good chance you know someone affected by dementia.  It can be very difficult to watch someone you love deal with – symptoms of dementia, which often includes memory loss and trouble with language, along with personality changes, delusions, agitation and less ability to solve problems or control their emotions. It’s also important to note that although dementia risk increases with age, it is not part of the normal aging process.
With comprehensive treatments on the horizon, we can feel hopeful that integrative, personalized approaches could be the key to fighting this disease.  In the meantime, though, it’s important you take relatively simple steps to lower your risk of dementia     now — before the disease has a chance to set in.
Tune in now to hear about some unexpected causes of dementia and how small         lifestyle changes you make today can naturally prevent dementia later in life! https://www.alz.org/facts/

Simple Ways to Help Someone Living With Dementia!!!

“Reminiscence therapy” helps trigger dementia patients’ memories.

Reversing Alzheimers & Dementia Through Stress Management!!!

Additional research shows that  anxiety may actually decreases in the severe stages of dementia.                         When anxiety is present with dementia,  it is associated  with poor quality of life and behavioral                disturbances, even after controlling for depression.

Doctors help you with trusted information about Difficulty Walking in Dementia:
Dr. Daniel G.Krauser on dementia and walking problems: Walking is a complex process, and many different medical problems can affect it. To walk talk & laugh helps your brain     to stay active.
There is no known way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. However, there are actions that one can take to reduce the risk for dementia and,               in some cases, slow the progression of the disease.

Recent research is proving that the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are linked to something  called oxidative stress.  Oxidative stress is caused by a combination   of poor lifestyle choices and a diet that produces increased levels of oxidative radicals and lower levels of antioxidants.  A diet that reverses oxidative stress  and  Ways to prevent & reverse cognitive decline are:

Healthy Diet  (coconut oil.)                                                                                                            Omega 3s and B Vitamin’s
Heart Healthy Behaviors
Avoiding Head Injury
Physical Exercise                                                                                                                           Mental Activity
Socializing….

Some factors may decrease the effect of brain damage due to dementia by developing  more connections between the remaining brain cells,  rather than preventing damage.  With more connections between brain cells, function can be maintained longer despite damage to the brain.

Slight changes in the way a person walks, like slowing down or developing a variable -stride, could be early signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Previous studies have linked walking speed in the elderly with overall good health & even longevity, with the current research  among the first to associate gait with risk of Alzheimer’s.  The 4 new studies,  presented over the weekend at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Vancouver, find that changes in physical movements like walking can even precede symptoms of cognitive decline.

One study by researchers at the Basel Mobility Center in Switzerland followed 1,153  elderly participants including patients at the center being treated for memory & mobility problems as well as volunteers in a separate 2007-11 cohort study. The participants were separated into groups based on their cognitive status: cognitively healthy, diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia.

Researchers tested participants’ gait on a 33-ft. electronic walkway containing 30,000 integrated pressure sensors. The participants were tested for “normal” walking and for performance on two “dual tasks,” which included normal walking while simultaneously counting backward out loud or while naming animals.

When people are asked to walk and perform a cognitive task at the same time, these regions of the brain become overloaded because they have to share the resources between the two tasks. In people who are cognitively impaired, these networks become increasingly overloaded due to having less cognitive reserve. Thus, the amount of gait slowing a person exhibits while performing a dual-task gait test, compared with his or her usual gait velocity (without a cognitive task) provides a measure of the person’s deficits in executive function, attention, and memory processes.

This magnitude of gait slowing can be expressed as a dual-task gait cost, which adjusts    for the individual’s own usual walking characteristics.  In one recent study, they examined the association of dual-task gait performance and the incidence of dementia in people with MCI. These participants were followed for six years as part of the Gait and Brain Study, an ongoing study (clinicaltrials.gov identifier: NTC03020381) designed to determine whether gait deficits can predict cognitive and mobility decline and progression to dementia among community-dwelling older adults.

Overall, everyone walked slower while attempting to multitask, however, walking speed       was  also linked with people’s varying levels of cognitive decline. People with Alzheimer’s walked slower  than  those  with  MCI,  who walked slower than cognitively healthy adults ”Mobility impairments are often associated with dementia,  and  some  gait changes  may even appear before cognitive decline can be detected by traditional testing methods,” said lead study author Dr. Stephanie Bridenbaugh in a statement. “Gait analysis can simply, quickly and objectively measure walking. When problems emerge, this may provide early detection of fall risk and the earliest stages of cognitive impairment in older adults.”

Dr. Joe Verghese has found that nearly in 1 in 10 older adults met criteria for pre-dementia based on a simple test measuring how fast people walk  and to whether they have cognitive complaints. People who tested positive for this pre-dementia were twice as likely as others to develop dementia within twelve years.

In this extended version, Dr. Verghese gives specific walking speeds that are considered unusually slow and explains why those with vascular disease, diabetes or high blood p.s.i., pressure are at increased risk for dementia.  The paper was published online on July 16 in Neurology. Dr. Verghese is professor of neurology and medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and chief of geriatrics at Einstein and Montefiore Medical Center.

Walking may slow the cognitive decline in adults with Alzheimer’s disease,  according to      a new study presented Monday at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

The study, done by Cyrus Raji at the University of Pittsburgh, found that walking about eight kilometres per week helped to slow memory loss.

“We found that walking . . . protects the brain structure over 10 years in people with Alzheimer’s and MCI, (mild cognitive impairment) especially in areas of the brain’s key memory and learning centres,” said Raji. “We also found that these people had a slower decline in memory loss over five years.”

Alzheimer’s is an incurable brain disease that destroys memory and cognitive skills. According to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, there were about 480,000 Canadians  with Alzheimer’s  and related dementia in 2008.  The society estimates that number        will reach 1,125,200 by 2038.

The society also estimates the economic burden of dementia in Canada doubles            every decade, increasing from $15 billion in 2008 to $153 billion in 2038.

“Because a cure for Alzheimer’s is not yet a reality, we hope to find ways of alleviating disease progression or symptoms in people who are already cognitively impaired,” Raji said.

For the ongoing study, Raji and his colleagues analyzed the relationship between physical activity and brain structure in 426 people, including 299 healthy adults (average age 78), and 127 cognitively impaired adults (average age 81),  including 83 adults  with MCI and    44 adults with Alzheimer’s dementia.

The study looked at how far patients walked in a week. After 10 years, all subjects underwent MRI exams to identify brain volume changes.

“Volume is a vital sign for the brain,”  Raji said.  “When it decreases,  that means             brain cells are dying. But when it remains higher, brain health is being maintained.”

Subjects were also given mental state exams to track cognitive decline over five years. Physical activity levels were correlated with the exam and MRI results.

Raji said the findings showed that greater amounts of physical activity were associated with greater brain volume.

“Cognitively impaired people needed to walk at least 58 city blocks, or approximately 5 miles (eight kilometres), per week, to maintain brain volume and slow cognitive decline. The healthy adults needed to walk at least 72 city blocks, or six miles, per week maintain brain volume and significantly reduce their risk for cognitive decline,” Raji said in a release Monday.

“Alzheimer’s is a devastating illness, and unfortunately, walking is not a cure, “Raji said. “But walking can improve your brain’s resistance to the disease and reduce memory loss over time.”

The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, in its Rising Tide report, urges a national dementia strategy be adopted in Canada which would include recognizing the importance of informal caregivers and an increase in all areas of dementia research.

Compared to Alzheimer’s disease, which happens when the brain’s nerve cells break down, vascular dementia happens when part of the brain doesn’t get enough blood carrying the oxygen and nutrients it needs.     What are the symptoms of vascular dementia?

Sundowner’s Syndrome.

Not all patients who suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s will exhibit Sundowner’s,     however. Conversely, some people exhibit symptoms of dementia all day which grow worse in the late afternoon and evening, while others may exhibit no symptoms at all    until the sun goes down.Sundowner’s Syndrome largely remains a mystery to medical science, although there are several theories about why these symptoms begin at night. More and more studies are being conducted to try to determine the exact cause.

In the meantime, some doctors believe it’s an accumulation of all of the sensory stimulation from the day which begins to overwhelm and cause stress. Some speculate  that Sundowner’s Syndrome is caused by hormonal imbalances that occur at night. Still others believe that the onset of symptoms at night is due to simple fatigue, while some believe it has to do with the anxiety caused by the inability to see as well in the dark.

How to Prevent Dementia Patients from Wandering … Create a circular walking trail. People with dementia often suffer from stress and fear, and those feelings may prompt them to wander in order to calm themselves down, according to the Mayo Clinic.

What is the Dementia Timeline for Deterioration?

Walking may slow cognitive decline in adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI)      and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as in healthy adults, according to a study presented November 29 at the meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
“We found that walking five miles per week protects the brain structure over 10 years       in people with Alzheimer’s and MCI, especially in areas of the brain’s key memory & learning centers,”  said Cyrus Raji, Ph.D.,  from  the Department of Radiology  at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.  “We found that these people had a slower decline in memory loss over five years.”
Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and cognitive skills. According to the National Institute on Aging, between         2.4 million and 5.1 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease.  Based on current population trends, that number will increase significantly over the next decade. 🙁

Delivering A Hit to Triple Negative Breast Cancer

From this our Facebook Group we have lost Lisa Engelke, Leslie Fluegell, Holley Kitchen whose choice was natural treatment.  (N` Cheryl Hodge decided chemo towards the end of  her battle for Triple Negative Breast Cancer.)  I also feel deeply that researching  Joan Lunden’s Conventional Treatment and a detox after treatment is your best bet to beating this type cancer. However, one member in this group constantly astounds me.

And her Name is Valerie Woo.
Valerie Woo states: This is my advice to women with tnbc and part of my success treating it. Don’t get sucked into the fear of it. Fear causes cancer and makes it spread. Why? Fear lowers ur immune system, depletes nutrients, raises cortisol, causes hormonal imbalances etc.  Then if you put a lot of toxic chemicals into ur body filled with fear it may not be very helpful. It is imp to do ur own research and surround urself with people who beat all odds with any cancer.

Hope is imp n unfortunately there is a lot of fear in our medical systems.
Also look at ur body type, sensitivities n ur other health conditions. I have often shook my head at how docs completely ignored this yet it is the basics of medicine. Chemo may make other health conditions worst or cause more havoc in a sensitive body making Tnbc spread quickly.  Also explore nutrition, herbs as many cultures have been using them successfully treat C for centuries way before chemo. Unfortunately we have a system where greed has taken over n demonized many of this which is very sad.
Be aware of the greed n do not let doctors push u into a treatment that may not work for u. Yes u have the time to pull back n research n listen to ur inner guidance unless the tumour is affecting a major organ etc. Also another key to my success has been asking the universe for guidance. They r there n will…just ask. It is Never easy when ur dealing with bc but ask them to send clearer messages n give u strength to get thru it.
Ken what I’m doing is all natural except for a lumpectomy
and am doing well with tnbc. Just had my breast follow up ultrasound in December n all   is good. Was diagnosed March 2017. The struggles I face now is I have had a lot of Herxing and trouble finding the right maintenance dosage  for the cannabis oil n` Essiac Tea.  So I have had unpleasant side effects,  at times this has left me feeling drained.  So any prayers you can send to me to recharge n help cover costs (been expensive as natural isn’t covered by insurance or my govt programs) will help as I would like to share my success story with others but need more energy to do that .
My body has healed so much it can no longer take a higher Thc or much Essiac anymore   (n I’m no where near what I took during my intense treatment). Right now too much starts giving me hormonal imbalances. But that is good. . . . for it shows thru all my hard work — I’m regenerating cells in my body and yes the body can do that.                                          Being part Chinese I practice  Tao and it teaches there r no problems simply solutions      and all is done thru the Tao (our creator).  This thinking is well over 4000 plus years old   and aligns with the real teachings of Jesus.
The biggest advice. . . I can give to women is stop buying into the fear. Fear/stress causes cancer n also makes it spread. Believing it is so bad will make it worse. The Tao teaches ur thoughts create things. I’ve had to pull away from the fear from the medical community at times to offset the negativity. I have used meditation n … feeling I’m healed which I highly recommend too. I’m not against chemo or radiation. However, one must also look at their tolerance to pharma meds n other health conditions. I couldn’t do either as it would turn another health condition into C.
Also if one goes with chemo or radiation. . . its also kills healthy cells so it’s important        to take natural stuff to rebuild healthy cells n detox.   Also it’s imp. taking a very good quality organic whole food supplement  (the industry isn’t regulated and there is a lot       of junk out there),  juicing n make healthy diet changes Essiac Tea & cannabis oil are     very good for tnbc. U will need a high thc to cbd can oil. If ur afraid of the highs there         is a herbal formula called buzzkill that stops that.
I did lots of juicing n increased my whole food organic supplements. Was already gluten and dairy n white processed sugar free.  But went vegan.  Detoxifying is very important. Also mind,  body work,  stress reduction n releasing old negative emotions is important.      Dr. Bruce Lipton’s work shows us the scientific proof that there is no cancer gene. I highly recommend his work. One of the reasons I removed my first oncologist was she was trying to put a lot of fear in me n putting down anything  I said about healing. I knew her energy would just make my diagnosis worst. One of things that I did to heal was mediate n affirm I was C free n I really felt it….very important to do in every healing protocol.

When I posted this blog back on January 6 2019.

I ask Valerie to critique this blog post for Jessica Thelen.

This was Valerie’s feedback!!
1) re article. Dr V is good. Her point about dense breasts is imp. Mammograms often        do not detect C. I use ultrasounds as have dense breasts. My feedback to her would be to understand people’s budgets as costs add up with natural stuff n` tests n that puts stress on people. Unneeded stress which isn’t good for C.  I’ve seen some of that in my support groups.
2) Video 1
I did a lot of research while making my decision. My first oncologist kept pushing a lot       of chemo on me. . . . so I ran away very fast. I like the doctor in the video questioned how effective chemo was with TNBC if it was such an aggressive type of breast cancer and the survival rate wasn’t very good. Later – on In my support groups I have seen more success with those doing chemo if they also do natural things. I agree with the doc that everyone should question the effectiveness of chemo on their type of caner. N if going with a lower dosage n natural remedies is better then speak to their doc about it.                                           I’m starting to see more docs starting to speak up about this. Also in Video 1 they mention that we r all unique. I fully agree with that and suggest to people to listen to their intuition or ask the uni for signs n guidance to help them make the best choices.
.
3) Video 2
I have to add here that C has been around for a long time cultures like the native Indians, Chinese etc… have healed it with nutrition/herbs/ energy work for eons.  So the women in the video is correct to say focusing on the immune n digestive system is imp.  That is what one does in natural healing. I would like to add it is imp to heal the central nervous system too. With radiation n chemo it’s even more imp since it is toxic (it’s chemicals)   plus kills off good bacteria n healthy cells.                                                                                                        So those doing chemo have to add even more nutrition etc to offset that. The one thing   she doesn’t mention is the importance of the quality of supplements!!! Again there is a lot   of junk out there n some that is even toxic for the body. Very imp to use a very good quality product. She also mentions coffee enemas. Yes they help with detoxifying. I’m sensitive to coffee so use wheatgrass n garlic. Also she is right that most conventional docs know little about nutrition.
Both videos do not address lifestyle changes n stress/fear (creates inflammation which      is mentioned in Video 1) . Very imp. Our pace of life is so out of tune with nature. We r  way too busy. We r also constantly bombarded by fear n live in constant fight or flight.     In my opinion that is the main cause of disease.  It in turns runs down the body n if ur adding junk back in u end up sick.  Meditation, also deep breathing n making lifestyle changes helps with that. Also we need to put more joy, love , fun etc. in our lives.

Positive helps boost our immune system. N we need to stop letting GREED rule us!
I’m not sure what those TNBC used/did to try n heal their C naturally. I do know quite        a few women who have had success going naturally.  Then I know others  who have had success doing both.  I haven’t seen as many successful with just chemo n radiation. They may go in remission but then it comes back. My suggestion is stressing lifestyle changes, one needs  to boost/heal the immune,  digestive,  central nervous systems,  diet changes, detoxifying after radiation, chemo n rebuilding the body with nutrition, that cannabis helps treat tnbc very well.
Essiac is good. Reducing stress, meditation n mind work is important. Putting balance      in ur life, eliminating toxic people. Looking at ur body type n picking the best treatment for it. Research n educating yourself is so imp.  Also it’s imp not to let docs push u n put fear in u…if they r doing that find a better doc. I experienced that with my 1st oncologist and have heard too many horror stories from other women.

I’m part of a breast cancer support group of women who have gone all natural except        in some cases they did surgery. N many r doing very well with their Tnbc.  Many have    had    no reoccurrences n it’s lasted for years. Joan Lunden does a lot of natural things   now to prevent a recurrence.

So I think just informing people of what people have done for success to treat tnbc will help those with it. I don’t think u have enough info to recommend what is the best route   to go but u can say what u see has helped women. Dee Mani-Mitchell. . .went all natural except for a lumpectomy n wrote a book (which is doing quite well) called “My Way”.

Valerie Woo between Dee Mani-Mitchell and yourself tell me what approach one should consider to further help my good friend Jessica Thelen.  🙂  She is post chemo? Dee Mani-Mitchell stated Ken oh shit! Who knows?? None of us do I can only hope and pray I beat this! 17 months now NED, I take a maintenance dose of feco & supplements along with a positive mental attitude, I believe stress is the killer, which is a contradiction when faced with cancer anyway! I truly believe stress brought on my diagnosis!

I live for today, never for tomorrow and never for next week,                                                     coz a cancer sufferer thinking about the future is toxic (my belief)!
Valerie Woo stated: I suggest Jessica watch the second video in the article u posted as        it gives some good advice.  It talks about what to do after chemo, rebuilding the immune system, digestive system etc. A good naturopath and ( my nutritionist also recommends   all whole food organic products. . that has helped a lot and I’ve used to heal other health problems with. One success story is in a Canadian medical Journal ) can help her.  One that specializes in Vitamin C.  is Dr. Véronique Desaulniers, D.C.  who is cancer coaches.
I recommend diet changes n cannabis oil. Not sure how the chemo has worked so far      but a good cannabis doc  (we have them here in Toronto, Canada) recommends a higher thc to cbd ratio. Dee is right that maintaining a positive attitude is important.  Reducing Stress is imp n finding ways to manage stress better is a must I use meditation, working out n eliminating toxic people is so imp.
I’m a big fan of Dr Wayne Dyer n he cured his leukemia naturally n used his manifesting techniques to do it. So did Louise Hay and also so did Gregg Braden (Gregg did it by just manifesting it. His work is so interesting to follow)  That has been the key to my healing.     I highly recommend that. Some think manifesting is a joke but they don’t realize there is scientific evidence that supports it n they call it quantum physics.  I highly suggest using the “I am” principles n meditations in Dr Joe Dispenza’s book “Becoming Supernatural”. People are healing from many illnesses using the techniques and Key to me healing tnbc. The Tao teaches it n is well over 4000 plus years old.  Also Kris’s Carr’s videos, books & also is good for recipes & natural things to do etc.

Other Examples: A True Account 🙂  German Quark versus Cottage Cheese?
Nancy Yamin:  I had triple negative in Feb. 2014,  I did 2 rounds of chemo (out of 16)        and decided it was not right for me. I had a lumpectomy and did 30 rounds of radiation.    I didn’t know any better.  Then In March 2015  I had a 3 cm tumor in my lung presumed mets (metastatic BC stage 4) but did not have a biopsy. I did IV vitamin C and the tumor resolved.  I also did Dan Dials molecular enhancer every day, became vegan, eat organic, no wheat,  soy,  sugar, etc.  removed toxins from in and out  of the house/body,  reduced stress, water filter on faucet and shower, and on and on. So now five years from original diagnosis am considered cured, I guess?

Rachelle Bisaillon  stated I had surgery, no radiation, no chemo.                                                  Not late stage so not sure if this is helpful but here’s some info I discovered.
Root Canals and Mercury fillings are the first to be addressed. There are lymphatic        lines that run straight to the breasts from the teeth. ALSO Use a Biological Dentist.
100% Raw Vegan diet. Organic. No bread, no sugar, no pasta. Just fruit and vegetables, preferably juiced. Coffee enemas and also iodine. Apricot seeds & Gerson Therapy 🙂

A Lifetime of Experience

Statement from T T A.C. Episode 1 Asian Tour!!!

Dr Tetsuo Muneta explains that ketones are made of fat. If you consume lots of sugar or  grains, ketone bodies will not be produced.  But if you decrease sugar intake, and have a low carbohydrate diet. Ketones will be produced. On a keto diet your diet should consist   of lots of good fat, meat, eggs and cheese. Some examples of “good fat” are saturated fats from animal sources, coconut oil with MCT’s which are medium chain triglycerides. The advantage of the keto diet is that the energy is not sugar so it starves cancer cells. While   at the same time. . . giving energy to the healthy cells.

This is why keto diets works for cancer.

The mitochondria are the energy generators for the cells in our body as they use sugar       or fat for energy. However, the cells we typical see damaged mitochondria/ or inactive mitochondria.  As a result to damage or being inactive in the cancer cells.  They begin fermenting sugar  “glycolysis”  and they are not able  to utilize the ketones for energy. Cancer cells are not able to live  without sugar to provide energy.  Thus, the ketogenic        diet works by reducing sugar intake  and starve the cancer cells to death.  Dr. Tetsuo     states if I would be Dx. with cancer I would utilize the keto diet.

Alyzah Nagar, 53 years old, has a lifetime of experience with how emotions unhealed, wounds left unattended  influence our health.  During her time as a mother,  wife, and  nurse she learned the medical world doesn’t always offer life giving options. When her heart began to have electrical issues & she was diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome    she began to see the benefits of natural options. She gave up her nursing career in May 2008 to pursue her health.

During this journey. . . .she has tried many things, many ways of eating and etc. In this        article she shares her thoughts about Vegan Keto and a favorite recipe.. She calls Searcy, Arkansas home,  loves fresh, home grown food and creating beautiful, healthy dishes in   the kitchen.  April 1, 2019  her left kidney was removed due to Chromophobe Renal Cell Carcinoma. I look forward to the responses to this article and welcomes your questions.

I was asked to write about my experience, my studies and etc with this lifestyle. At first,       I was like no way.  As hours and days passed, I felt the tug of my Father to do so. I’ve not written like this in almost 2 years so please prepare to give me mercy.  I hope you noticed the word lifestyle. Vegan Keto (VK) is not for the rapid weight loss, fad diet we often hear about. It is about healing from the inside out. It is about living a lifestyle which promotes the cleansing of our bodies or temples.

Much of the information available makes it seem nigh unto impossible to use this way to gain health because it seems so restrictive at first. So, let’s discuss those first. I am gluten free (gf) because of the stomach issues I have with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), brain fog and etc.

I am dairy free (df) because of the increased mucous and increased respiratory issues.         I tell you this because I was these things for a few years before going vegan. I started out raw vegan-low fat and swapped to vegan-low fat. I found myself always hungry. My skin was dry, my hair fell out, my nails were brittle.

A years ago this month I had two stents placed in my heart. Afterwards, when they told   me how ridiculous my triglycerides  and cholesterol numbers were,  I knew I had to find    a better way.  I began researching Keto.  Within a short time  I began to see Keto was all about consuming animal products.  I am not vegan because I can’t kill or eat animals.         I was raised on a farm and LOVE a good steak. I started this for my health.

With 2 years being vegan and being told my numbers were through the roof, I had to rethink things. So with my search, after discovering the animal base, I thought well that    is a no go. I then stumbled upon a Vegan Keto group on Facebook (FB). I didn’t join, but     I started researching more.  I discovered that plant based keto was being studied for use   in many disease processes. Cancer was just one.  IBS,  Cholesterol,  Diabetes, and others which are autoimmunity related.  Considering that I was a diabetic as well,  who fought HARD to be prescription free, my attention was caught.

When we consume things like spinach, kale, watercress, wheat-grass, spirulina, sprouts, micro-greens and etc we are giving our body some of the BEST super-foods available. All of the minerals, vitamins and disease fighters in these things are what I call little brooms. They are sweeping out the damaged cells so the beautiful cells can thrive.  S0 Why do we weed our gardens? So the weeds are not eating up the nutrients and also choking out the plants we WANT to grow!

You ask, “What about protein?”

Protein is another overrated part of eating. You must think about it like this: Meat was never a staple in history. It was almost a luxury. If you had it, great. If not, other foods were grown or forged.  Maybe a chicken on Sunday  or lamb on Sabbath,  but it wasn’t served in ordinary houses on a daily basis. Remember who seemed to be the fattest in     the land. The ones also with more money and the royal.  They weren’t healthier either.      Protein sources come from  some super foods as well.  This is a link of veggies high in protein, https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318600.php

Then we can add these super choices: Chia Seeds, Almond Butter, Flax seeds, sprouts and etc. There is not a limit per se but there is a matter of best choices.  Fat is NOT the enemy but it is not our best friend either. Avocados, on the protein list, packed with nutrients and wonderful things to fight disease  is a favorite way to get my fats.  Also cold pressed,  extra virgin, olive oil (EVOO) and even coconut oil (I use in place of butter a lot.) I use as needed to season and cook but if I am feeling hungry when I shouldn’t, I will grab a tsp of almond butter.

Notice, I did not mention fat bombs. I discovered those were addictive and lethal. We  have no need to load on fat if we are wanting to lose fat. What if you don’t want to lose? You just eat more food and add a few non-processed or sugar loaded carbs. Just adding fruit will stop it, too.  Also Intermittent fasting (IF),  I do this almost every day.  I set a time to stop eating  and won’t eat again  from 12 but mostly  16-20 hours later. I drink      lots  of water. There is all manner of research showing the positive effects and how it   helps the body recharge. Is it easy, no not really at first.

Then something changes and your window of eating is perfect. Eating nutrient dense  foods is crucial if doing IF.  If not,  you won’t get  what you actually need.  I have seen where feeding my body what it needs  on an IF schedule  has also helped with cravings    and etc. They just don’t happen. I crave only good for my options now when I do crave. One is Dinosaur Kale. No other kale does it for me like that does!! So you must stay in  tune with your body and its needs.

VK, IF, are both becoming big with the cancer survival tips. Actually, I am not surviving   it, I am beating it…to a pulp! When we starve our bodies of things which harm it in any way or feed the altered cells in our body, we support natural healing. All effective plans  are loaded with good for you, real food. VF is no different and IF is actually a support        of cell apoptosis.

We want bad and good cells to die as they are scheduled to die. So if the apoptosis (dying off) process is hindered we then see cells look like a huge traffic jam. The problem is they usually are the altered ones  we WANT to move along nicely  and  not jam up somewhere  in our body. So, after two years it feels good to write again. After left kidney nephrectomy and other things in the past 1+ year, I am glad I found VK and IF! I am open to questions and discussions.

Here is a favorite keto recipe if interested.
Vegan “fish or shrimp” Taco  🙂

Use tortillas of choice. I made homemade flax ones.

“Shrimp” Marinade:
· juice of one lime
· teaspoon salt
· 1/2 teaspoon fresh black pepper, cracked
· pinch thyme
· pinch oregano
· 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
I used heart palms, artichoke hearts and roasted unsalted cashews                                         for “shrimp” averaging about 2lbs.
Note: I added kelp for seasoning and Nori sheet to the marinade                                               for a fish smell/taste.

Vegetable Mixture:
· 1/2 cup radish, shredded
· 1/2 cup green cabbage, shredded
· 1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
· 1/2 cup cilantro, finely diced
(Combine ingredients)

Guacamole:
· 2 medium avocado, mashed
· 1 tablespoon vegan yogurt
· 1 tablespoon Cholula hot sauce
· Garlic salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)
· Pepper to taste (about 1/4 teaspoon)
· 1 tablespoon Italian dressing (I use a bit of EVOO,                                                              Italian seasoning and a splash of white vinegar)
· Squeeze of lemon
(Blend together, top with Vegan Grated Parmesan Cheese                                                                & refrigerate until ready to serve.)

Place the “shrimp” and the marinade in a hot sauté pan with                                                       2 tablespoons vegetable oil over high heat and cook for 1½ minutes.
Remove the shrimp mixture from pan and set aside.

Spoon cooked “shrimp” into 10 6-inch corn tortillas (heated).                                                      Then add vegetable mixture.  ***Add guacamole.

The Divine LIFE ~ is ~ Filled With Energy!!

The Divine Life is about positive vibes that keeps us amped.
When you feel the positive vibes. . . your life is better for it.

Sometimes the aura around someone is so overwhelming, that a heaviness hovers in       the room. This swirling black mass of invisible energy drains the very life force from   those it frequents and leaves them devoid of substance, ambition, and motivation.             At various points in life, most everyone endures difficulty in some way, shape or form.          The trick is not how to avoid it, but how to deal with it effectively. Since adversity and privilege are opposite sides of the same coin, it makes sense that we would encounter  them from time to time.  Once you release the negatives,  your body and soul become receptive to positive vibes. Find out how to bring good energy into your life.

‘The Divine Life’ tells us that energy is the source of all things, all life seen and unseen in the universe. The concept states: there is a constant, dynamic energy in the cosmos that takes subtle or gross form — whether a physical body or object, a plant or animal, or an idea or insight. This common energy flowing subtly and invisibly through the universe    has as its source a spiritual Conscious-Force of the one Infinite Consciousness.
Though we are a product of that universal force, energy is not a static entity. For example, we humans can increase it at any time — whether it is physical,  vital/emotional,  mental, or spiritual energy. Increasing any of these will give us not only a greater power to accomplish, but a greater zest for life so we don’t feel dis~ease. Tis like a Great Golfer is it much better to be a Great Shot maker or a Great Walker. Sure you must make great shots to have a great round. But you have to have to have the energy to do so. . .once you walk  up and hit the great shot.
Block energy flow is much like “white coat syndrome,” when I was younger and still do today.  I always have this fear,  concern was irritated and aggravated.  Every time I had to  go to the doctor and how much it would cost (thievery per minute and how much it would cost me.) Every time I would go it would raise my blood pressure and wonder why this would be possible.
Then one day while sitting there thinking about it in a waiting room. I realized maybe it had to do with the natural flow of the blood stream.
And its that fear, concern and being irritated, aggravated that may have something to do with interrupting that nature beat of your heart. All the while disturbing the energy flow  of your body which creates this dis~ease. And quite possibly its this dis~ease that creates the diseases of the human body.

And quite possibly this blocked energy flow can be measured by a Electrocardiography— abbreviated as EKG or ECG — measures the electrical activity of the heart by using electrodes placed on the skin. For the heart to contract and pump blood, a series of coordinated electrical signals are sent to the heart by the autonomic nervous system — EKG or ECG — is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heartbeat.                   With each beat, an electrical impulse (or “wave”) travels through the heart. This wave causes the muscle to squeeze and pump blood from the heart. A normal heartbeat on    ECG will show the timing of the top and lower chambers.

An EKG measures your heart’s electrical activity, like how fast your heart beats and how well its chambers conduct energy.  An abnormal EKG  can just be a normal variation of your heart’s rhythm … This electrical activity causes the two upper chambers of the heart to contract. This electrical activity and can be recorded from the surface of the body as a “P” wave” on the patient’s EKG or ECG (electrocardiogram). https://www.heartsite.com/html/electrical_activity.html

If this is so, then what can we do to increase our energy?

There are a number of practical approaches. One is to increase our level of aspiration in life.  The more intense our aspiration to achieve a goal,  the more our will is engaged, and thus the greater energy released. Another way to also maintain and build our energies is to maintain a positive attitude. Whereas negative attitudes tend or deplete our energies, even evoking instances of sudden ill fortune, positive ones — whether towards others, one’s self, one’s work, or life — tend to have the opposite effect.
Thus, the more we increase our energy, the more likely the forms that relate to our being will maintain themselves and avoid breaking down. If we lose physical, vital, or mental energy, those corresponding forms tend to whither. E.g. out body decays, our will depletes, and our understanding diminishes.
In the end, energy is the source of all accomplishment. It is energy that created, is creating the universe from a divine,  Infinite consciousness.  Likewise it is energy that also enables us create and achieve in life.  The greater the consciousness,  the greater the energy – physical, vital, mental, and spiritual, and thus the greater sustainability of the forms of   our being and our capacity to thrive.
“But instinct is something which transcends knowledge. We have, undoubtedly, certain finer fibers that enable us to perceive truths when logical deduction, or any other willful effort of the brain, is futile.” ~Nikola Tesla

There are several energy systems in the human body that produce energy for working muscles.  If you are an athlete,  or are training athletes,  knowing about these systems,      how they work, and how to develop them is vital for success. By energy systems we are referring to how the body produces energy for physical activity.
This information is important because which system is involved will depend on the intensity and duration of the activity. Therefore, training needs to involve the development of these systems based on what is required in competition.
In addition, everyone will have a dominant energy producing system. Therefore, it would be absolutely ridiculous to take a long distance runner and try and make them into a sprinter.
The first system is the Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the immediate source for energy that is stored in muscle cells. As the phosphate is broken down (there are 3 of them for each molecule of ATP) energy is released. This system is only good for very quick and powerful movements.

Then, ATP runs out and much be re-synthesized so the process can be repeated. Oxygen    is not required for this to work,  there are no waste products,  but it is extremely short in duration. This system will last for about 0.5 minutes. Sprinters have a very well developed ATP system.
The second system is the PC (PC is phosphocreatine) is a molecule found in muscles cells. Once ATP is broken down it will become Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP). At this point the PC will be broken down so the individual phosphates from the PC will join with the ADP  to form ATP again.  This is the re-synthesizing process of used up ATP.  This system also requires no oxygen, and there are no waste products produced.  However, it is very short in duration. This system lasts for about 0.5 to 1.5 minutes.
The third system is called the Anaerobic Glycolysis (lactic acid) System. This energy is obtained by breaking down glucose (either stored in muscles or from the blood stream). Through this process lactic acid (which causes the burning sensation) is produced.             If the activity is too intense, and there is no time for the body to clear out the lactic acid, then the activity can not be maintained. This system lasts. . . .for about 1.5 to 3 minutes. Sports, such as gymnastics where routines last for about 2-4 minutes have well developed anaerobic glycolytic systems.
The fourth system is the Aerobic Glycolytic System, also called the Oxygen System.         The main source of energy for this system is carbohydrates (from stores in muscles or from    the blood stream) and fats (from stores). In order for this system to work there needs to   be oxygen present, as it is part of the cycle. If oxygen is not present then this system   simply will not work. The waste products are carbon dioxide (which we exhale) and water. This system, if the activity is not too intense, can continue indefinitely (assuming the body has glucose, fat, and oxygen. However, if the acuity is too intense    then glucose may run out, and the body will produce lactic acid. This is referred to as oxygen deficit. Marathon runners have well developed aerobic systems.                    Sprinters usually don’t, but they don’t need to.
Systems which have short duration can be activated almost instantaneously and are       very powerful. Where as the systems which last longer take more time to be activated     and have less power.
Knowing what your athletes come with (usually because of genetics) will help guide     them into the right activities. Although you can develop the ATP system in a long    distance runner it will never be as good as someone who is a natural sprinter.
Also, no single system works by itself. All systems are in play all the time no matter      what you are doing. The duration and intensity of the activity will determine which    system is the one used primarily, but they are all used to some extent.
Interestingly Christian scriptures states, “that a man must be baptized with water           and fire to feel the true presence of the Holy Spirit.”
Random question, why is fire an element?

There is no fire without air. All air, water, and earth, are a part of nature… fire was man made… and it was made from earth and air. It’s something I’ve been asking myself for a while. I’m a scientist and have a very mathematical brain and it just doesn’t add up.              I know in the past when alchemy was starting out people didn’t see it this way but           now we know all that I said above… so why do we consider Fire as one of the elements? The sun is magnified by sap or dew and starts fires.

If fire is man made what about nature Like volcano and lightning
Fire is natural. Just because man can make it doesn’t alter that fact.                             Science Behind Lightning ~ Lightening causes fire.

What Causes Thunder & Lightning
S0 Don’t be messing with my element…
We get Wild fires from lighting out west all the time.
Lighting strikes a tree and there’s a spark and a fire!
Fire is used by man but it was created by nature lightening, volcanos –
Lava flows and creates fire. FIRE is a vibration that creates and destroys.
Fire is made up of many different substances, so it is not an element.                                   For the most part, fire is a mixture of hot gases.
Flames are the result of a chemical reaction, primarily between oxygen in the air and          a fuel, such as wood or propane.
Well air is also made up of different gases and it’s not an element per science but we are talking about the 4 elements in alchemy… so if fire is more complex than air and earth as  it is made by the two, why is it considered an element just like the two?                                  It’s just kinda weird that nobody “updated” the alchemical basis I guess.
Fire will naturally occur with or without intervention. Just like a seed in the right soil     will grow, the right static in the right environment will spark and burn. My understanding is that units of dual pairs come into play in the creation. There is paradox because the two polarizations don’t have the same qualities.  For instance… We have mum and dad, sister and brother making the human family. Both are pairs of male and female. But brother and sister don’t have sex. So it is with fire and water.  One is the foil of the other. Earth and air are the loci where fire and water reside. Interestingly, Christian scriptures say that a man must be baptized with fire and water.
Fire needs oxygen to exists and last time I checked there is no oxygen on the Sun, but ok    I understand why all of you would confuse a bunch of gas reacting at very hot temperature for fire since that’s what it is here on earth, fire is hot gas, and it needs oxygen to burn, fire consists of both air and earth, so it is rather complex.

Still confused why it’s still considered an element if it is more complex than the rest of the elements… I’m sorry most of you misunderstood me. Fire is energy that occurs in nature. Like the sun’s energy that heats earth, volcanos and wild fires can display energy. Fire exists in nature’s energy. So Just think of Vulcans and a lightening striking a tree as a display of nature’s energy.  Why these are the elements 0f Astrology?  🙂

Earth is waking up and slowly returning to her natural state where she is just more     active. She has been napping for a very long time according to the geological records.      For many years this resonance frequency. . . .has hovered at a steady 7.83 Hz with only     slight variations. In June 2014 that apparently changed. Monitors at the Russian Space Observing System showed a sudden spike in activity to around 8.5 Hz and sometimes even reaching 16.5 Hz. But nobody understands why!

Does Quantum Touch Tap Into This Field 🙂

Developed by Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD., autonomic resonance testing (ART) is a comprehensive diagnostic system that uses changes in muscle tone as a primary indicator. It could be what you are saying, but with quantum touch, you could easily use a match stick or piece of paper to adjust the posture. I don’t mean to sound like this is a sales pitch for quantum touch. I am not affiliated with Quantum Touch. I have read the books and subscribed to the newsletters. People can read the books for more information. But with quantum touch, it even works on those who don’t know what to expect. If you have ten of the same objects but only one has been entangled with the intent, only that specific one will align your posture.

If you tap the person with the charged object and they are not aware that they were touched with it, they would still align. It’s the subconscious mind at work. It doesn’t   matter what “ instrument” is used. There are lots of different therapies and therapists   that purport to have special unique ways of working. However in the end any therapy       or therapist has to convince your subconscious it wants and is ready for change.

Does anyone know what type of energy therapy this is – I brought my daughter to a ND recently and he put something in her hand – like a coin – and than watched her gait which was improved in an instant – what was that?

Your angelic voice is completely beautiful creates positive vibes.                                                  Every time I hear your voice I get chills and want to cry … Amazing ♥️♥️
Sonia, the part in the chorus where you say “changin” in the commercial is not long         like in this version of the song. Just my opinion but I think most people fell in love         with the commercial’s version of the chorus/song.
When I heard it on a commercial I JUST HAD TO FIND THE SINGER!!                           And after a few minutes I regretted nothing 🙂
Yes here name is Soneli Solorzano. The original is here on YouTube. For the commercial they added strings and chorus. Yes I agree it gives me chills. That is why I love music so much.
Best cover of this song I’ve ever heard. You hit it outta the park.
Btw, I like how you kept true to the original using the guitar, however, I think your voice paired beautifully with the piano in the commercial version. Would love to hear a full recording of that as well. I would buy it on iTunes Magical voice girl Thank you

A Story of Emotions & Cancer

Besides Achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight can help prevent cancer. Dietitian Diana Steele shares advice on the types of foods you should avoid and the      kinds you should embrace for cancer prevention.

Ours is an age that emphasizes impulsive emotionalism over experience. Emotions and experiences are not necessarily bad things, but they should not be set up in opposition to the mind, to reason. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul exhorts us to remember that Jesus called us to love God with all of our minds.

Imagine this scenario: the incident of interacting with an “energy vampire” – that person who simply seems to emanate some kind of negative energy you can’t quite put your finger on,  but  you can feel inside – an energy that disturbs you or makes you too seem negative, down, or angry. On the flipside, you may occasionally walk into a room where the energy is so intense and positive that you can’t help but smile.

How does this all work exactly? How can you feel your partner without them saying anything? How can you sense the negative or positive energy emanating from someone? And what does this have to do with using your mind to heal your body?

In this article, you’re going to take a journey into the invisible, surprising connection between your mind,  your emotions,  your beliefs  and your biology.  By the end of this article,  you will be fully equipped to understand  and explain the powerful link between invisible emotions & energies and visible, tangible changes to a living being’s physiology   and biology. You will know how to use emotions, thoughts and beliefs to change not only your own health and body but the health and bodies of those around you.

This article will set you up to be far more aware of concepts often considered “woo-woo”   in our modern scientific era, and better able to understand many other spiritual, invisible concepts,  including ideas such as  the power of gratitude,  sound frequencies for healing, and the anti-aging effects of relationships and love. Let’s do this. I first realized the power of emotions and stress to affect disease risk.   By Ben Greenfield

When I traveled to Israel for a tour of the country’s unique collection health spas, fitness centers, healing retreats, wellness facilities. In Northern Galilee, I visited the home of a former professional basketball player – Doron Sheffer.

Doron had been an amazing athlete. He was an achiever. A hard-charger. A professional person. As a guard for the dominant college basketball team UConn, he fed the ball to star teammates like Ray Allen  and played for legendary coach Jim Calhoun.  Sheffer averaged five assists  and thirteen points per game,  he hit 40% of his three-point attempts and led the UConn Huskies to a brilliant 89-13 record, along with NCAA tournament appearances in each of his three seasons. He then became the first Israeli ever drafted by the NBA when the Los Angeles Clippers selected him in the second round in 1996, but he instead signed a lucrative contract with the Israeli professional basketball team, Maccabi Tel Aviv – which he then led to four consecutive national championships.

But then Doron got testicular cancer. When I sat down with him in his backyard garden looking over the beautiful hills of Amirim, eating a meal of organic figs, goji berries and sweet local almonds,  he described how the tremendous pressure,  tension,  difficulties, frustrations pent-up emotions and stress from the life of a hard-charging professional athlete eventually built up inside him and culminated in disease.

Indeed, scientists also have actually discovered that the emotional stress similar to what  Doron experienced can be a trigger for the growth of tumors. As a matter of fact, any sort of trauma, emotional or physical stress, can act as a literal pathway. . . .between cancerous mutations, bringing them together in a potentially fatal combination. For example, at Yale University,  scientists have now discovered  that everyday emotional stress  is a trigger for the growth of tumors. They discovered that any sort of trauma, emotional or physical, can act as a pathway for cancerous mutations.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been a major part of healthcare in China, and  extensively affected medicine and healthcare in surrounding countries over a long period of time.  In the fight against cancer,  certain anti-cancer remedies  using herbs or herbal formulas derived from (TCM) have been developed for the management of malignancies. Furthermore,  there are clinical trials registered  for the use of herbal remedies in cancer management.  Herbal medicine has been used  as  part  of  combined therapies to reduce  side‑effects of chemotherapy, including bone marrow suppression, nausea and vomiting. Herbal remedies have been – used – as chemopreventive therapies to treat precancerous conditions in order to reduce the incidence of cancer in high‑risk populations.

Emerging evidence has revealed that herbal remedies can regulate the proliferation, apoptosis, adhesion and migration of cancer cells. In addition to this direct effect upon cancer cells, a number of herbal remedies have been identified to suppress angiogenesis and therefore reduce tumour growth.  The inhibition of tumour growth — may be due to modifications of the host immune system by the herbal treatment.

However,  precise mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of herbal remedies remain poorly understood and are yet to be fully elucidated. The present study aims to summarize the current literature and clinical trial results of herbal remedies for cancer treatment,  with a particular focus on the recent findings and also development of the Yangzheng Xiaoji capsules.

The findings show  the conditions for developing cancer can be significantly affected by your emotional environment, including every day work and family stress. In other words, your risk for developing cancer can be positively or negatively affected by your emotional environment, including everyday work, physical, emotional and relationship stress.

The traditional Chinese medical view of cancer etiology has long held emotions are a major contributing factor for cancer. namely emotions. For example, author Sun Binyan writes in his book “Cancer Treatment and Prevention.“
“According to our understanding of the tumor patient, most also have suppression of       the emotions. They tend to hold in their anger. Although some patients have good results after treatment,  emotional stimulation may cause them. . . . to decline again and then the previous treatment would have been in vain. While some people also have a severe phobia about cancer.  Before they know the real disease,  they have a lot of suspicions.  Once they know they    have cancer, their whole spirit breaks down. This kind of spiritual state is very bad for the treatment.”    https://www.acupuncturetoday.com/mpacms/at/article.php?id=28009

In the book “Prevention and Treatment of Carcinoma in Traditional Chinese Medicine“, Jia Kun  formula and gives ten recommendations for prevention. Also in addition to good environment and personal hygiene, proper amounts of physical activity and rest, healthy food & good eating habits and avoiding smoking, he states that:

“Emotional changes, such as worry, fear, hesitation, anger, irritation & nervousness  should be prevented.  Mental exhaustion is harmful and life should be enriched with entertainment.” Chinese medicine authors Shi Lanling and Shi Peiquan also mention     the etiology of various cancers in their book “Experience in Treating Carcinomas with Traditional Chinese Medicine.”
“The etiologic factors of the disease involve chiefly the disturbance of the seven emotions, especially melancholy,  anxiety,  and anger,  which  are liable  to impair the spleen and the liver. Impaired by melancholy and anxiety, qi will be stagnated and the spleen will lose the function of transformation and transportation, leading to disturbance of water metabolism and the subsequent accumulation of phlegm-dampness, while, impaired by anger, the liver qi will be stagnated. The stagnated liver qi, as qi is the commander of blood, may give rise to blood stasis if not relieved in time.
Thus, emotional disturbance, in-coordination between the ascending-descending movement of qi of the zangfu organs, sluggish flow of qi and blood, and the ensuing obstruction of dampness, phlegm, and blood stasis are the fundamental pathogenesis       of the disease.”
In their section on treatment of breast cancer, the authors refer to a discussion in a      Ming Dynasty text by the surgeon Chen Shigong (1555-1636 A.D.)  indicates that breast cancer “results from anxiety, emotional depression, and overthinking which impairs the liver,  spleen,  and  heart  and  causes the obstruction of the channels.”  This text is also mentioned in The Treatment of Cancer by Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine, and is translated as follows:
“Breast cancer is due to worry and melancholy. Lots of ideas hanging around make          one feel dissatisfied.  Perverse flow of liver  qi  to the spleen leads to the obstruction            of the channels and collaterals and congelations due to excessive accumulation.”
In addition, the book “Cancer Treatment with Fu Zheng Pei Ben Principle” presents            a section on etiology of cancer, and describes the following with regards to emotional disturbances:
“TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) embodies changes of spirit and sentiment as           the seven emotions: pleasure, anger, grief, fear, yearning, sorrow, surprise, all of which   are emotional,  physiological reactions of an organism  towards external changes in its environment. Emotional disturbance refers to reactions, either excessive (excitation) or insufficient (inhibition)  which will ultimately lead to disturbances in the flow of qi and blood and the visceral functions, with subsequent illness.

TCM claims rage harms the liver, excessive stimulation harms the heart, grief harms the spleen, great sorrow harms the lungs, and fear harms the kidneys. Though not necessarily precise, this belief definitely points out that emotional injury will affect the physiological functions of the qi, blood, viscera, and channels, and lower the body resistance, resulting in disease. The human body is susceptible to cancer when under emotional stress or disturbance.”
Indeed, one major published study in China involving a significant population of approximately 750,000 individuals in Beijing attempted to determine if psycho-social factors contributed to the incidence of primary lung cancer. They reported three factors positively associated with the occurrence of lung cancer: 1) a burst of emotion that could not be controlled; 2) poor working circumstances, including poor relationship with coworkers; and 3) a depressive feeling for a long time.
Western research has gone on to support the idea that depression can impair immune system functions.  For ex., it has been shown tumor-relevant lymphocyte subpopulations, also known as natural killer cells (NK cells, which can attack cancer cells),  have receptors for various neuropeptide proteins, including those released during stress. This means that NK cell activity can be influenced by emotions.
The level of NK cell activity has been shown in research to be a good predictor of breast cancer and a loss of NK activity. . .in cancer patients has been shown to be correlated with psycho-social measures such as level of patient “adjustment” (avoiding showing distress at the cancer diagnosis/treatment – e.g. “internalizing” the stress), lack of social support, and symptoms of fatigue or depression.
Another recent report analyzed the findings of close to a hundred studies demonstrate  how the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), “fight & flight ” portion of the nervous system can actually encourage metastasis when chronically elevated. During acute stress, the SNS becomes active. However, as soon as a stressful event has passed, the body returns back to homeostasis within about an hour.

However, under chronic stress, the SNS is “turned on” virtually all the time, and in this chronically stressed state, adrenaline and noradrenaline can alter genetic expression via the same protein-folding mechanisms you’ve already discovered in this article. Also this genetic alteration can lead to a number of pro-cancer processes,  including activation of inflammatory responses,  inhibition of immune responses and programmed cancer cell death, reduction in the cytotoxic function of NK cells, and also inhibition of DNA repair, stimulation of cancer cell angiogenesis,  and activation of  the “epithelial-mesenchymal transition,” which is one of the ways new cancer stem cells are created.
Now here’s the deal: I’m personally a very hard-charging guy focused on personal and professional excellence in everything I do. But I truly believe that unless you are able to relax, to breathe, to de-stress and to simply stop and smell the roses, you’re going to be   the kind of person who eventually develops a chronic-stress related disease that forces your fast-forward life into slow-motion.

So you have to put the brakes on before your body puts the brakes on and forces               you to stop, perhaps with the flu, perhaps with back pain, or perhaps with cancer.

Make sense?

The ultimate question is: how can you do this? How can you slow down before your body forces you to slow down?  How can you somehow dig yourself out of a hole of a constant barrage of emails, text messages, phone calls, over-exercising, eating to train and training to eat, and going to bed late,  24-7 self-quantified biohacking, trying to “have everything,” getting up early and still somehow managing to squeeze in some semblance of quality in your friend and family relationships?

This is exactly what Doron figured out, and this man’s new approach to life, his answers, and his new aura of peace and calm spoke heavily to me. He defied conventional medicine and naturally healed his body of cancer, and his approach to life is now refreshing, relaxed and incredibly peaceful. When I visited Doron at his peaceful home & private health resort “Hyuli” in Amirim,  in the mountains of Northern Israel.

I was surrounded by a laid-back, de-stressed community of aromatherapists, massage therapists, herb gardens, spas, a health food shop, an organic olive oil shop, art galleries, restaurants and wellness bed and breakfasts. These mountains are where Doron slipped away from chronic stress,  reinvigorated his body and also underwent his own “spiritual cleanse” to win his battle against testicular cancer.

Now that you understand how your thoughts, stressors, emotions and beliefs affect your biology, it’s time to identify both the positive and the negative emotions and stressors that either allow you to use your body as your own pharmacy and heal yourself from the inside-out, or to think yourself into a state of illness and disease.

Among known and avoidable risk factors causing cancer deaths in Chinese population,   the most important  are chronic infection (29.4%),  tobacco smoking (22.6%),  low fruit intake (13.0%),  alcohol drinking (4.4%),  low vegetable intake (3.6%) and occupational exposure (2.7%). However, rankings are different when stratified by gender.

The top six factors in men are tobacco smoking, chronic infection, low fruit intake,   alcohol drinking, low vegetable intake and occupational agents; whilst those in women  chronic infection, low fruit intake, tobacco smoking, low vegetable intake, occupational agents  and environmental agents.  Because prevention  (such as changing lifestyles) is        a long term effort  and the effects will not been seen in the near future, then secondary prevention,  which is known as early detection & early treatment,  is the most effective measure for cancer control and prevention in China.

10 Steadfast Rules for Cancer Prevention

The World Health Organization’s (WHO) defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” I believe this definition brings out a couple of good points, but is missing something. Consider the latter portion of the definition, “Health is not merely the absence of disease”. Often times, people believe because they are not “sick” or do not have pain, they are healthy.

In other words, because there are no symptoms, there is health. Let’s look at the example of a heart attack. Frequently, what is the first symptom of a heart attack? The heart attack itself! Before the heart attack,  a person  “feels”  fine  and carries on like nothing is wrong. But we know, through science, that heart disease is a process and takes years to produce    a heart attack.
So, health is more than the absence of sickness, symptoms and disease.  Also note the WHO points out,  health goes beyond – our physical body to include our mental and social body.  However,  I would expand their definition by adding spiritual and emotional   to the list of physical,  mental, and social.  This now addresses the “whole” person.  Do you think  a person that is constantly sad (a very real emotion) or has no connection to the One above (spiritual) has complete health? I don’t think so. I am guessing that if asked, most people would want health in all these aspects of their lives.

Let’s look at another definition of health that I feel is more appropriate. Drs. Talsky and Holder define health as “a dynamic state of wholeness in which your body can accurately perceive its constantly changing needs,  and respond appropriately in a timely manner.”   In other words,  the “whole”  body has the ability to perceive and ADAPT.  Appropriate adaptation is required for our whole body to achieve health. I would like to pose one final question. What system in our body is responsible for the control of adaption? The answer is the nerve system. The nerve system, which is composed of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves, is responsible for the appropriate and timely adaptation of our “whole” body.

It is responsible for all the functions our bodies carry out on a daily basis.

If your nervous system is not working at 100%, your body has less than 100% ability to appropriately  adapt  and  function.  Chiropractic allows your nerve system to function at   its highest capacity  so that your body  has the ability to appropriately adapt  and achieve TRUE HEALTH. With the spine in alignment, the nervous system can function optimally; allowing you to live your life without unnecessary distractions and truly focus on what is important to you and your family.

The Documentary:  ‘What the Health”  critically examines the relationship between the  food systems supervised  by the government and corporations.  It exposes the corruption and collusion that causes large segments of the population to remain unhealthy and costs trillions of dollars in healthcare.  Kip Anderson reveals the key to preventing & reversing the chronic diseases that many people grapple with today.

The documentary looks at the reasons behind the reluctance of the prominent health organizations to inform and assist people in solving health problems. With cancer and heart disease still remaining the main causes of death in America, and cases of diabetes skyrocketing, it uncovers potentially the greatest health cover-up in the modern era.
The film depicts the conflicts of interest and the treacherous roles played by agribusiness, pharmaceuticals and animal food processing companies in undermining the health of the nation, particularly in the vulnerable sections of the society. It demonstrates the inspiring transformation and recovery of people who took matters in their own hands to fight back and correct their situation.
What the Health is a thought-provoking and powerful documentary about how special interest groups encourage unhealthy habits among consumers. It discusses environmental racism and how animal agriculture affects the health of the community.  It calls on people to rethink everything they have been taught regarding the link between business and food, the effect of food on individual health and the inherent power of the human body to ward-off and reverse the diseases that are needlessly killing millions of people today.

“You Have CANCER.”

These may be THREE of the most devastating words that a person can hear in their lifetime. And while there is a lot of talk about how to treat cancer, what are you meant      to do to prevent cancer?   Or what are you meant to do post recovery in order to keep cancer from returning?
In a study of postmenopausal women who had been diagnosed with estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer, people with a healthy diet had a 45% lower risk of mortality from breast cancer or any other disease.
This kind of information also demonstrates the promising role of nutrition in reducing     cancer risk. Read on to discover other key insights into staying healthy to prevent cancer, and how to look after yourself once you’ve faced cancer too.

1. Find Your Healthy, Comfortable Weight
Did you know that fat is a metabolically active tissue?
In fact,  it has its very own blood supply and cellular activity.  Fat cells are constantly    active  and can generate hormones,  produce inflammatory factors and even play a role      in regulating our appetite!  The metabolic activity of our fat cells accounts for why body weight can influence our cancer risk.  Intra-abdominal fat  (the stuff in our mid-section  that surrounds and even permeates our organs) has a particularly important role in our health.  The fat in our body is not inert.

This type of fat releases inflammatory chemicals and growth factors that can cause  chronic disease  (such as diabetes and cardiovascular conditions)  and accelerate the  growth of cancer. https://www.health.com/breast-cancer/obesity-overweight-cancer
Please note: The recommendation to find a healthy weight is generally advised also as prevention or after your cancer has cleared. Weight loss is not recommended during   many cancers, when your body needs optimal nutrition and fuel to heal.

2. Eat Organic … At Least, As Much As You Can!
Many pesticides, herbicides and fungicides have carcinogenic qualities. Therefore,              to reduce your risk of future cancer, it makes good sense to minimize your exposure          to chemicals that are cancer-promoting.

Furthermore, research indicates that organic produce has a higher nutrient content.       Our bodies need to be well–nourished and receive a plentiful supply of antioxidants to combat cancer cells and support the immune system. So eating organic has the twofold benefit of giving your body less of the harmful stuff and more cancer-fighting, health-enhancing goodness!
Although eating organic does carry a perception of being more expensive, you can read  our cost-saving tips for shopping organically here and here. As a starting point, you may also like to initially avoid eating the top ‘dirty dozen’ most heavily sprayed produce items.

3. Eat Plenty Of Alkalizing, Anti-Inflammatory Foods
Inflammation is bad news for our health and contributes to many diseases, including cancer. By reducing inflammation, we can keep our body working in top condition and lower our risk of developing cancer.
As a general rule of thumb, most plant-based foods have a more alkalizing effect within  the body.  On the other hand, many dairy products, meat, sugar and refined foods tend     to be more acidifying.
Research has found that a more alkaline, plant-based diet and lower intake of meat products can significantly lower the risk of many cancers. Read these easy five steps to         a more alkaline diet and learn more about how acid-alkaline balance works within your body here.

Eat mostly foods of plant origin.

Advised the international panel of cancer experts: Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, and eat relatively unprocessed whole grains and/or legumes (beans) with every meal. “These, and not foods of animal origin, are the recommended center for everyday meals.” All these foods contain “substantial amounts of dietary fiber and a variety of micronutrients, and are low or relatively low in calorie density.”

4. Drink Juice
Freshly squeezed, vegetable-based juices are one of the fastest ways to flood your cells   with the nutrients needed for your body to function optimally. Additionally, juices are alkalizing, which as discussed, can also assist in reducing cancer risk. Plant foods also contain antioxidants and Vitamins A, C and E, which fight free-radical damage. Many phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables prevent cancer development.

Boost your daily intake of these nourishing, cancer-fighting goodies with a cold-pressed, vegetable-based juice!

For extra benefit, consider including anti-inflammatory ingredients such as ginger and turmeric into your daily juices. Numerous studies have shown that turmeric, in particular, may have anticancer properties.  Weird tip?  Add a little pepper into any juice containing turmeric; a bioactive component in pepper called piperine increases the bioavailability of curcumin. Piperine is the active ingredient found in black pepper  &  is responsible for its distinct taste. It is sometimes referred to as pepperine or bioperine black pepper extract. Piperine is an organic compound categorized as either a lipid or an alkaloid.

5. Reduce The ‘Rubbish’ In Your Food!!!
Did you know that many preservatives, colors and flavors in common foods are believed     to be carcinogenic? (Check out some of the worst offenders here!)
While these artificial additives have been given “safety levels” that the average American diet shouldn’t exceed, the scary thing is that little is known about how these chemicals interact with each other, or what the accumulative side-effects may be.
Furthermore, foods containing artificial additives tend to have lower nutritional value  than fresh, organic, whole foods.  Therefore,  by sticking to natural foods, you can give   your body a boost of superior nutrients and avoid potentially carcinogenic ingredients.

6. Move Your Body Regularly
Research suggests that regular exercise may reduce the risk of developing cancer or experiencing a recurrence. Exercise can also be vital in relieving – fatigue and reducing     the stress that is common after cancer. Optimally, the report advised, aim for moderate activity, brisk walking, which essentially means walking as though you have somewhere   to go (and you’re running a little late).
Many experts recommend exercising for 60 minutes or more of moderate activity – or for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, at the highest intensity that you can safely do. This can be distributed over the day,  so no need to sweat it out  all in one go if this amount sounds daunting!  Have you or someone you love recovered their health and vitality after cancer? Share how they did it in the comments below!

7. Spice Up Your Life
Herbs and spices have been traditionally used for their flavor-enhancing and medicinal properties. The increasing prevalence of cancer in the world also has prompted increased interest among researchers  and  the  public in the potential of foods to reduce cancer risk and fight tumor growth.

8. Sugar Feeds Cancer.
Avoid calorie-rich, sugar-rich drinks, too. One in every five calories in our American diet now comes from beverages (all those grand lattes are adding up), and that’s a big problem because, as the cancer report states, “Sugary drinks provide calories but do not seem to induce satiety or compensatory reduction in subsequent calorie intake.”

Translated: Whether you drink a diet coke or a regular coke, you’ll likely eat the same burger and fries. And you’ll get hungry about the same number of hours later. Regular coke, in short, is simply adding more calories to your day, which can all too easily add more pounds on you.

9. Limit intake of red meat and avoid processed meat.
According to the WCRF/AICR report, red meat, including beef, pork, and lamb,                  as well as processed meats like sausage, bacon, hot dogs, salami, and ham “are convincing or probable causes of some cancers,” including also cancers of the colon, esophagus, lung, stomach, and prostate. Moreover, “diets with high levels of animal fats are often relatively high in calories, increasing the risk of weight gain.”
The cancer experts recommend that the population average consumption of red meat be no more than 11 ounces a week, very little if any of which is processed. Instead of red meat, the experts advised,  select white meat poultry and seafood. “Also Flesh from wild animals, birds, and fish, whose nutritional profiles are different from those of domesticated and industrially reared creatures, is also preferred.”
For optimal protection against cardiovascular disease, the Pritikin Program recommends no more than 3.5 to 4 ounces (cooked) of animal protein each day. Your optimal choice is seafood, except for some of the higher-in-cholesterol selections like eel, conch, and squid. Once a week, you may opt for skinless white poultry or grass-fed, or free-range wild game such as buffalo, elk, and venison. Try to limit other red meat choices to once a month – or not at all. Bottomline: IGF-1 doesn’t cause cancer, though it may allow cancerous cells that already exist to grow faster. We must be leary of the hormones being put into meat today :'(

10. Limit alcoholic drinks and salt consumption.
Though the WCRF/ACIR panel took into account the evidence that modest amounts of alcoholic drinks are likely  to protect against coronary heart disease,  the data on cancer indicate that “even small amounts of alcoholic drinks should be avoided.”  Also Alcoholic drinks are linked to mouth, larynx, and colorectal cancer and may also cause liver cancer. If you consume alcoholic drinks,  the cancer report advises you limit consumption to no more than two drinks a day for men and one drink a day for women.

“Salt is necessary for human health and life itself, but at levels very much lower than   those typically consumed in most parts of the world,” stated the cancer report. Salt and salt-preserved foods are a probable cause of some cancers, particularly stomach cancer.
To avoid not only cancer but also cardiovascular-related diseases like hypertension and heart attacks,  the Pritikin Program, in line with the Institute of Medicine,  advises that adult Americans limit their consumption of sodium to 1,200 to 1,500 milligrams a day, depending on age. People age 19 to 50 should consume 1,500 mg or less of sodium/day. Those 51 to 70 should cut sodium to1,300 mg or less, and those over 70 should aim for 1,200 mg or less.

That’s no small task when you live in a country like the U.S. where one restaurant plate    of pasta marinara can tally up a whopping 3,000 mg of sodium, and, calorie for calorie, corn flakes and most breads pack in about twice as much sodium as potato chips.

And do we ever pay the price. High blood pressure in America is at an all-time high.       Our lifetime chance of getting high blood pressure is now over 90%. It’s a huge problem because hypertension  (persistent high blood pressure)  increases the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease three-fold.

The good news: blood pressure can fall dramatically, studies on the Pritikin Program    have found. In a meta-analysis of 1,117 hypertensives – at the Pritikin Longevity Center,   55% of those on hypertension drugs lowered blood pressure to normal, medication-free levels. After just three weeks, they returned home free of their anti-hypertensive drugs.

Alzheimer’s Linked to Anxiety

Stress in middle age could cause dementia               by damaging the brain, new research suggests.  Neurons involved in chronic anxiety   and fear ‘extensively overlap’ in areas associated with Alzheimer’s disease, scientists say and causes other diseases.

How Does Severe Stress Affect The Brain

Mid-life stress has been previously linked to a higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
The latest research shows that the mechanism of how chronic stress physically        damages the brain – potentially leading to dementia.

Chronic stress is defined as ‘prolonged activation’ of the normal stress response –               in other words stress over long periods of time. The study suggests reducing chronic   stress by therapy, exercise or mindfulness training – a form of meditation – might be   ways to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’ s.

A Canadian team reviewed animal and human studies that have already been published and found brain areas affected by chronic anxiety, fear and stress were linked. This could explain the development of neuropsychiatric disorders  (depression & Alzheimer’s, they argue.)

Psychiatrist Dr Linda Mah, of the University of Toronto, said: ‘Pathological anxiety and chronic stress are associated  with structural degeneration and impaired functioning of  the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex (PFC), which may account for the increased risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders, including depression and dementia.’

In Alzheimer’s the hippocampus, the brain’s memory hub, is one of the first regions          to shrink. Those who suffer from depression also have a smaller hippocampus. The        PFC also wastes away in both conditions.  The research is published in the journal    Current Opinion in Psychiatry.

It pooled data from studies of lab animals along with brain scans of humans, focusing       on chemicals sparked by fear and anxiety in three brain areas:  the amygdala, medial prefrontal cortex and hippocampus.

When subjected to chronic stress there were also similar patterns of abnormal brain activity including an overactive amygdala, an area associated with emotional responses, and an underactive PFC, that helps regulate them through thinking.

The study suggests reducing chronic stress by therapy, exercise or mindfulness training – a form of meditation – might be ways to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. Also This ‘see-saw relationship’  was first identified in a landmark study by world renowned neurologist and depression researcher Dr. Helen Mayberg more than a decade ago.

But Dr. May said stress induced damage to the hippocampus and PFC can be combated    or even reversed with anti-depressants  and physical activity that have both been found     to improve the hippocampus. She said: ‘Looking to the future we need to do more work     to determine whether interventions,  such as exercise, mindfulness training & cognitive behavioural therapy, can not only reduce stress but also decrease the risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders.’

Dr Mah’s study follows on the heels of her previous one published in October 2014 which found some of the strongest evidence yet that anxiety may accelerate the development of Alzheimer’s disease in people diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, minor memory loss that can lead to the condition.

Experiencing anxiety, fear and stress is considered a normal part of life when it is occasional and temporary, such as feeling anxious and stressed before an exam or a job interview. But when those acute emotional reactions become more frequent or chronic, they can significantly interfere with daily living activities such as work, also school and relationships.

Dementia Progression Slowed with Good Nutrition
by Case Adams, Naturopath · June 28, 2012

(Last Updated On: June 4, 2018)

Nutrition strategies help slow Alzheimer’s progression.
Recent research is proving that the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are linked to something  called  oxidative stress.  Oxidative stress and also how to prevent it     is caused  by  a combination of poor lifestyle choices  and a diet that produces increased levels of antioxidants and lower levels of free radicals and oxidative stress.

Your body needs some fat for energy and other functions. Polyunsaturated fats are a healthy choice. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends getting no more than 10% of your total daily calories from saturated fat (found in red meat, butter, cheese, and whole-fat dairy products) and trans fats (found in processed foods). Keep the total fat consumption to no more than 25% to 30% of your daily calories.

This includes monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
Eating healthier fats can lead to certain health benefits. But eating too much fat can lead  to weight gain. All fats contain 9 calories per gram. This is more than twice the amount of calories found in carbohydrates and protein.

It is not enough to add foods high in unsaturated fats to a diet filled with unhealthy foods and fats.  Instead, replace saturated or trans fats with healthier fats.  Overall, eliminating saturated fats is twice as effective in lowering blood cholesterol levels as when you begin increasing polyunsaturated fats.

To get the health benefits, you need to replace unhealthy fats with healthy fats.
– Eat walnuts instead of cookies for a snack. But be sure to keep your portion small,              as nuts are high in calories.
– Replace some meats with fish. Try eating at least 2 meals with fish per week.
– Sprinkle ground flax seed on your meal.
– Add walnuts or sunflower seeds to salads.
– Cook with corn or safflower oil instead of butter and solid fats.

Dementia patients followed

Recently, researchers from the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and       the Capital Medical University in China analyzed urinary biomarkers of oxidative stress among 46 patients with vascular dementia. . . 24 patients with vascular disease without dementia, and 26 people without symptoms of either.

They found that patients with dementia had significantly higher levels of a urinary biomarker called 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (or 8-OHdG). 8-OHdG is associated with significantly high levels of oxidative stress. These levels were significantly higher than  both of the other groups of patients.

Alzheimer’s linked to clusterin.
Another recent study, this one from Qingdao University’s School of Medicine, analyzed multiple studies and two large genome studies and concluded that Alzheimer’s disease patients  significantly  higher levels of clusterin, known as apolipoprotein J. Clusterin     has been found to bind to amyloid-beta (Abeta) proteins, and has the ability to reduce fibril formation.

It is now thought that in an attempt to resist the formation of the Abeta proteins and fibrils, the body produces clusterin as a defense measure against oxidative stress. This   has been confirmed in studies showing that clusterin. . .lowers cell death and levels of oxidative stress.   Perhaps this is one reason that Alzheimer’s drugs keep failing.

What causes oxidative stress?
Oxidative stress is produced with increased levels of toxin exposure, either within your diet, water you drink or the air you breath,  combined with lower levels of antioxidants    and increased levels of lifestyle stressors. Toxins become oxidized and become radicals, which can damage our arteries and tissues.

Oxidative stress is a modern day issue. Our air, our water and our foods are full of toxins. These can range from heavy metals to pesticides to pollutants. These sorts of toxins push our body’s ability to cleanse these substances from our body. Also Our liver, for example, produces antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase and glutathione in order to remove toxins from our blood and lymph systems.

But when there are more toxins than antioxidants, our body becomes stressed. It becomes overwhelmed with toxins, which are in effect, oxidants. Also Researchers from Columbia’s University of Pontificia Javeriana studied  the connection between antioxidant intake and Alzheimer’s disease in a variety of studies.  They found that  an increased consumption of “polyphenol-rich” foods significantly lowered the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Plant-based foods provide polyphenols.

The researchers confirmed their findings. “It has been demonstrated, in various cell culture and animal models, that these  [polyphenol]  metabolites are able to protect neuronal cells by attenuating oxidative stress and damage.” Meanwhile, germinated  brown rice helps slow Alzheimer’s according to other research.

The past year has also  been banner year for Ashwagandha research.  Numerous studies confirmed its healing properties in a variety of conditions, including stress, toxicity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, Parkinson’s, skin cancer, tuberculosis, liver toxicity and many others.
