Chemistry Of Cancer

Finding Cancer Quick Facts is defining how carcinogens affect DNA and the best way to do that is try to understand how cigarette smoke influences DNA. Therefore we must understand the sequences of events that leads from  smoke inhalation to formation of  a tumor many year or decades later.  One of  the  initial  and  most  crucial events  is damage  of  the  genetic materials (DNA) by a cigarette smoke carcinogen.

This  damage  can  under  certain circumstances  be  corrected… by DNA repair mechanisms.  However,  if  not  repaired,  these  cells  will  attempt to duplicate their  DNA  during normal cell division;  but  are  than impeded by the damage  and  will carry out an error – prone duplication process leading to gene mutations (changes on the gene.)

Such gene mutations are  found  many years later  in  the  DNA of  lung tumors. Gene mutations are particularly harmful “if”  they occur in genes that controll cell division rates  or  genetic stability.  According to current thinking,  a  number of  genes  need  be mutated  or  functionally  disabled before  a  normal cell loses all normal growth control mechanisms  and  is brought into a path of uncontrolled cell division and eventually leading to   tumor growth.

Gene mutations have been found in genes such as p53, ras and p16 at a relatively high  frequency  in  human lung cancer.  One  of  these  cigarette smoke carcinogens implicated in the development of lung cancer that also   is implicated in the development of  lung cancer is benzo[a]pyrene. Since   benzo[a]pyrene is not the only carcinogen found in cigarette smoke and   p53 is not the omly gene that gets damaged by these compounds.

The theme  of  DNA  damage  is  caused by a number of  cigarette smoke carcinogens, which genes  and  which positions within genes are targeted is anybodys guess.  However,  what  is  known  is that cigarette smoking is the number  one  cause  of  death  in  the  United  States  yearly.  Not  only,  does smoking cause 30%  of  all cancers;  but also,  responsible  for  diseases  and other illness (Emphysema, COPD and heart disease.)

Keys to Success

With everything floating around in the precious air we breath and buried  in the ground we walk today.  It’s  no wonder we have the massive epidemic of chronic disease we have in this country today.  Also with this Obamacare scare being what it is and fear that premiums will double by the end of 2013. We should all  be  concerned  with…. what  is  causing cancer  and  can do to   prevent this dreadful disease  from happening in the  first place.

When one has cancer it’s always  fruitful to know which doctor would be  best qualified  to  handle the particular type  of  cancer you have.  However, what would be more beneficial is to figure out ways of not getting cancer in the first place.  Througout this project of searching  for the cause  and effect of cancer and what really happens inside of your body.

It always somehow shifts back to chronic inflammation and thats not     the  type that  one gets  from banging your  finger  with  a  hammer.  Acute inflammation  is  the  initial  response  of  the body to harmful stimuli  and  achieved  by  the  increased  movement  of  plasma  and  the  leukocytes (especially granulocytes) from the blood into the injured tissue.

A cascade  of  biochemical  events  that  propagates  the  inflammatory response.  The thyroid  is a small gland in your neck just below the adams apple that is key to your good health  and  well being.  It  functions as the thermostat  for your metabolism,  determining the heat  and speed which each cell burns calories.

The  thyroid  also has  a  huge  impact  on  hunger  hormones,  belly  fat hormones and fat burning hormones. Everytime you put an inch on to the waist line, it’s a sign your thyroid could use a boost. That’s because excess pounds trigger reactions keeping the thyroid from functioning at it’s most efficient.  Which makes it increasingly easy to gain weight and difficult to lose those additional pounds.

The  most  important  thing  one  could  do  is  to detox  from  the worse thyroid blockers: processed junk  food, sugary product, saturated  fat and  excess starch.  These culprits which tend to be  found  in  foods overloaded with calories – also irritate our insides, causing inflammation throughout our bodies that can significantly impact activity of the thyroid and other body systems.

So  how  do  you  reduce  this  chronic  inflammation  in  your  body?    What you do is switch  from processed  foods  and  limit  consumption of    high sugar fruit and even healthy starches. Which can cause blood sugar surges that worsen inflammation.  At the same time you  flood your body with anti – inflammatory ingredients,  such as omega 3’s  from  fish  and  nuts.  Also including antioxidants  from vegetables and low sugar  fruits.

The  more  of  these  super  nutrients  that  you  get  the  more  quickly  inflammation  subsides.  Harvard  research  studies  have  found  as  few      as three strawberries @ day makes us  14% less likely  to  show  signs  of  chronic inflammation  and  being their is a connection  between chronic disease,  this theory just might be quite a health insurance policy.

Groundhog Day

While having a facebook friend the other night…  suggest  that  someday Americans  might  have  to  live  in underground bunkers to escape the every day trials  &  tribulations  of  living.  His  concerned  based upon  the nuclear  fallout  from  Fukushima,  Japan still spewing it’s radioactivity  and  getting in the global airstream.  The  first thought  passing  through  my  mind  was  Henry David Thoreau…. sitting  in  that  one   room  cabin  on  Walden Pond writing about his appreciation  for nature two years.

Then a vision popped  into  my mind…. living  a  life – like  a  groundhog     and coming out only once a year with a hope of seeing my shadow.  Caused by the  fear of  the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster  in  Japan  with  no  hope  of being able to see the Redlegs play baseball.  While his concerns of what the impact that disaster has on  global proportions.  As he realized my website doesn’t have anything in it concerning environmental issues.

So Before finishing up this websites archives with a main page. Detailing the highlights of this website.  Let’s touch on direct and indirect carcinogens and my belief you have to come in direct contact with a carcinogen or have a genetic predisposition to get cancer.  With environmental impacts a concern according to Erin Brockovich cancer cluster theory,  I feel you have to live in that immediate area to have it impact your life, however, you should always be made aware of your surroundings through research.

In  Hinkley,  California  still today there is a higher then normal cancer rate with also Cancer Alley in  Louisana.  Not to mention, Clyde, Ohio with  it’s cluster stemming  from a City Park and the area I consider home which also  has  a  higher  than  normal  cancer  rate.  People live… to  be  all ages and  while looking around…. neighbors  pass away  young  and  old a like. However,  the town I choose to live considered  a  Blue Zone in my opinion with all the 80+ year olds…. I see in the neighborhood.

Dr. Russell Blaylock states, ” that  farm workers  have a greater risk  for Alzheimers than does others  NOT  in that career path through their usage of pesticides.”  True  their  are  safer options  to  some pesticides,  however,  I’ve known   farmers whom have  farmed with  or  without cabs on their tractors. For some whom have farmed without cabs some have out lived their counter parts well into there 80’s. While there neighbors have died in their 60’s.

Also true…. it can be told,  that counties along… the Tributaries along the Mississppi and Ohio Rivers having higher rates of cancer.  What’s not to say, “their nutritional habits…. aren’t as well adjusted as those living away from the river  and  isn’t caused  from the river filth….  as some would have you to believe.  County – by – county comparsions…. are sporadic and even my own barber’s…. belief  that counties East  of  Interstate Highways….  cancer rates  are higher than those on the West side because of air stream isn’t so.”

During the March 28th, 1979 event at Three Mile Island Nuclear Disaster  in Pennsylvania. Those living near the plant, down stream in it’s chem trail, lung cancer incidences went up 300 to 400 percent and leukemia rates were up 600 to 700 percent.  While infant mortality rates and death rates among the elderly went higher during the early 80’s.  With most of the information being skewed, the Pittsburgh area to this day still stands vibrant.

With the  34 th anniversary rapidly approaching, I feel the event of that  day put nuclear power in it’s place.  However,  to  say  live…under ground in  a bunker  for me  just  isn’t  gonna  happen.  I’m  more  concerned  about vitamin deficiencies,  with  Vitamin D  being  peril… to  your  good  health. While  in  most  of  the  other  blog post…. I  think  the  alternatives  to  the prevention  and  NOT  treatment  of  cancer  is a viable option.

Signs Of Aging

The month of  February should prove interesting as I put a new twist          on Solitarius with this blog post being the foundation for those blog post.  My Goal:  is to take this website…. in a whole new direction while putting the  visitants  in  the  perfect  place….  to  learn  cancer prevention  though awareness.  What I would like to accomplish…. is build upon the building blocks  within  this blog and show how the process of aging can  promote   the chronic illnesses we contract in our “Golden Years.”

Whether reading…. Dr. Mercola’s spew on Artifical Perservatives like Brominated Vegetable Oil thats used as key ingredient in artifical citrus flavored drinks  being  responsible  for it’s slightly  “cloudy”  look  these  beverages have. The main problem is that it’s fat soluble and builds – up       in tissues,  whereas,  a 16 ounce soft drink with brominate vegetable oil contains  appromiately  2mg of  bromine.  Which  studies  with  animals shows decrease levels of “good” cholesterol to myocardial degeneration.

Or watching YourHealthTV with Dr. Richard Becker and having his note worthy guest daily. For insistence Dr. Russell Blaylock being on a soap box over  vaccines,  mercury,  cadium,  aluminum  and  fluoride.  It  makes  me  wonder about the validity of it all,  whom is testing what for our safety and health. When you hear high levels of mercury in vaccines causing  toddlers (1:150) badies being Autistic it makes ones mind do back flips for research.

When Dr. Blaylock  also gets in his spew over  farmers having the highest levels  of  Alzheimers due in part…. to  the  use  of  neo-nicotinoid pesticides, which is causing the thinning of the bee population. It makes you wonder if  we are living  is living right.  Then  you  also  think  are  “Penial Institutions” being filled above capacity because of the excitotoxins in street illegal drugs and alcohol…. it makes the mind wonder.

Some of the most important pieces of the puzzle of aging are that some of  the  functional components  of  the  receptor systems,  decay  with  aging and disease.  Some  of  the  key components  are  glutamate transporters  and  it’s  relation  to  Lou Gehrigs DiseaseAlzheimers  and  Dementia. One must also consider the membranes effects  of  lipid peroxidation products,  membrane fluidity,  effects of chronic inflammation on the glutamate|free radical cycle, stress hormones and excitotoxicity.   Inflammation Fighting Foods..??

Also the role of insulin excess… on the eicosanoid system;  or the detailed  physiology  of  the  glutamatergic system,  knowledge of  the pathophysiology and biochemistry of  the neurodegeneratve diseases increases  when we  age  and  this  connection  of  excitotoxicity  has  become  stronger.  Which can be  said,  is especially so with the inter relationship between excitotoxicity – free radical generation.

Not only,  as  the  brain  ages…. it’s iron content increases  making  it  more susceptible to free radical generation, but also, aging changes the blood brain barrier,  microvascular changes leading  to  impaired blood flow,  free radical mitochondrial injury to energy gernerating enzymes, DNA adduct formation, alterations in glucose and glutamate transporters. With this said, these free – radical and lipid peroxidation induced alterations in the neuronal membrane all act at making the aging brain increasingly susceptible to injury.

Several factors of aging…. have  been  shown…. to  magnify  this  process.  Over  a  lifetime  of   free radical activity  and   injury  due  to  chronic stress, inflammation &  infections,  traumas,  impaired  blood  flow,  hypoglycemia, hypoxia and poor antioxidant defenses secondary to poor nutritional intake. The nervous system is insignificantly weakened and made more susceptible  to further excitotoxic injury.

There  are  a  growing number  of  clinicans  and  basic scientist  who  are convinced  that  a  group  of  compounds called excitotoxins play a critical role  in the  development  of  several  neurological  disorders  including  migraines, seizures,  infections,  abnormal  neural  development,  also certain  endocrine disorders,  neuropsychiatric disorders,  learning disorders in children (ADD), dementia,  AIDs,  episodic violence, lyme borreliosis, hepatic eucephalopathy, and especially neurodegenerative diseases, such as ALS,  Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimers & Huntington disease and olivopontocerebellar degeneration.

WE  know  “how”  that a loss of neuronal energy generation is one of the early changes  seen  with  the  neurodegenerative diseases.  This occurs long  before clinical disease developes, However, even earlier in a loss of neuronal glutathione functional levels.  So  “why”  is this important:  glutathione levels are  strong  indicators  of  a  strong  or  weaken  immune  system  leaving  you susceptible to disease.

So What Are Excitotoxin?  These  substances  usually  acidic amino acids    that react with specialized receptors in the brain, in such a way as to lead to destruction of certain types of neurons. Glutamate one of the more common known excitotoxins,  however,  there are over seventy known;  while another popular MSG is the sodium salt in glutamate and aspartame is also known to cause the brain harm.

So how could a normal substance…. that is used by the brain…. harm it? This is because glutamate….  as a neurotransmitter exists in the extracellular fluid only in very, very tiny  concentrations – – no more than 8 to 12uM.  When the concentration of this transmitter rises above this level, the neurons begin to fire abnormally at higher concentrations; and the cells undergo specialized processes of delayed cell death, excitotoxicity (they are excited to death.)

While food additives are probably not direct causes of neurodegenerative diseases, they may well precipitate these disorders and certainly worsen their pathology as will may well shall see. So it may well be that many people with a propensity  for  developing these diseases,  would have never developed a full blown disorder;  had it not been for…. exposure  to  high levels  of  food borne excitotoxin additives.

Obundlecare

As  you read  through  Solitarius  there  is  a  great  amount  of  information  about   nutrition  for  the prevention  of  cancer.  Plus  finding the best doctors  for that  type of  cancer  you  have,  that can help you when dealing  with  the side effects of the treatment  for  that  type  of  cancer.  Especially when it comes to chemotherapy and supplementing for that type of chemotherapy. With the most intriquing aspect chemo sensitivity testing which is indeed very important.  When  you’re  told  your  going  to  need  30 courses of chemotherapy it’s always best to know….  which  combo of chemo  would  be  the  most cost effective.     (Finding Affordable Health Care…. ehealthinsurance.com)

Being cost effective is what it’s all about ~ with Obamacare being a full array of new regulations, rules  and  taxes.  What it’ll do is make business people think twice about returns on investments while trying to figure out reasonable  estimates  or  calculate  future  cost.  As  our  national  debt  is over $15 trillion and growing, what this astronomical sum of a borrowed amount will do… is have us all  feeling a pinch   (Healthcare.Gov)

What Obamacare and this constitutional trespass will bring is another     $1 trillion  bill  for the  next generation  to  spring  for  as we continue in a death spiral of 2:1 ratio of providers versus survivors.  However what  we Americans are  finding out that  fully loaded the real price  for Obamacare may be have  a  price tag  in  the  vicinity  of  $2 trillion dollars.  What this additional cost  of  Obamacare might do… is push us toward insolvency.

Everybody looks only at their own situation,  however,  for the most      part we need to take a better look collectively.  When you see  a  country falling  further  behind  with  falling  wages,  shrinking  tax  base  and  a broken  health  care  system.  We  have  to  ask  ourselves  can  we  afford Obamacare  ~  in it’s presence stance.  Why be concerned with terrorism when  we  will  do  ourselves  in.  Within  Margaret I. Cuomo  M.D.  book          A World Without Cancer comes these excerpts.

When  then President Richard M. Nixon waged war on cancer  in  1971,     which impacted  2 out of every 3  families  in the United States  or  650,000 Americans was diagnosed with cancer.  In 2012  with the  N.C.I.  fiscal  year being what it was  $2 billion dollars  for  research  and  another  $1.3 billion was spent for advancement in treatments. This doesn’t include that in 2010 medical expenditure associated with cancer was estimated at $124.6 billion.

By 2020 that amount is expected to raise anywhere from between $158 billion and $207 billion. So we must ask ourself are we getting our moneys worth  before  throwing  even  more  money  at  the  situation.  Since  1987,  the  Ovarian  Cancer  Screening  Research  Program  at  the  University  of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center has screened 37,000 women  and  found 500 lesions of concern and determined with further testing that 60 women were proof positive for cancer.

Also with other various cancer medications and vaccines that are under clinical trial and under review by the FDA as  of  2011. Drug cost will almost certainly continue to soar, while from 1996 to 2005 drug company spending in consumer advertising increased 330 percent;  from $985 million to $4.24 billion.  When physicians  were  surveyed  65 percent  felt  the  ads  confused their patients  and  75 percent  felt  that  patients believed the drug would be more effective then it actually was.

When you look at all the details my major concern being are they really looking to find a cure for cancer or to be super pill sales people.  When  you consider that Pharmaceutical Companies,  also “woo” physicians with gifts dispensing $18.5 billion in free samples in 2005. While another $7.2 billion was spent that year on various  forms  of  marketing and promotions…. it’s no wonder for those being treated…. thinks it’s a con game by con artist.

Much  of  these  practices called  “detailing”  in which pharmaceutical representatives make sale calls to physicians offices. Ostensibly intended    to educate providers detailing slide –  overt medical practices to help them generate  profits  for  the Big Pharma.  In a sense making physicians drug pushers, my aunt says, “she has lived to be in her 90’s because she refused every pill they have ever wanted to give her since her 70’s.

The pharmaceutical industry is interested in profit only, they may talk research; but much  of  what they do  is  persuade physicians to push their products, explains the  Mt. Sinai School  of  MedicineDr. James Holland. An article  in the Journal  of  the  American Medical Association  called the “Financial Conflict of  Interest With an Impact on Treatment.” What  needs   to be done is to advocate more stringent regulations…. to modify a host of standard promotional practices for reimbursement for travel expenses??

What  Dr. Larry Morton M.D.  at  the  Evelyn H. Lauder  Breast  Center at  Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York  whom  is a proponent of cancer prevention  through  nutrition, lifestyle  and  more  research  in  that  area. While he’s opposed to a treatment focused approached  of  treating  cancer after the  fact.  It’s my own opinion:  we need  to  change that  more  of  the same thinking so we will can get a different outcome.  Instead of throwing more  money  at the problem while allowing lobbyist in Washington D.C.      to waddle and throw more money at something that doesn’t cure cancer.

As we currently watch this scenario….  being played out in Greece with    that country hovering on the edge of  bankruptcy because bacisly  of  their Universal Health Care System. What could happen in Europe…  is that the rest of the EuroZone will be there to help bail them out. While  here  in  the   United States ~ nobody will come running to our aide… those that do will expect interest on their investment  (Frances Market Oriented System!!)

Another profound fallacy of Obamacare is allowing  for abortions to be   paid  by  all  tax  payers.  With  the  divide  of  United  States  Citizens that believe in abortions. While taking the responsibility  out  of  the  hands  of  those  that  should  be  held accountable  for  their own actions.  While on  January 22, 2013 marked the 40 th Anniversary of Roe versus Wade.

Which was the supreme court decision… to make abortions legal in all      50 States.  Since that time…  what most Americans don’t realize is that the plaintiff in the case Norma McCorvey never had her abortion and today is an  active  pro – life worker.  Also  Dr. Bernard Nathanson, whom founded the largest abortion chamber in this country. Resigned  his  position as an abortionist and went on to produce pro life books & videos.

While since that unfaithful day,  Abby Johnson,  the  Former Director     of  a Planned Parenthood Abortion Chamber has turned  pro – life  activist and  wrote   about  her  trials  and  tribulations  in  a book,  “Unplanned,”  about her experiences as she  “Changed sides.”  The liberal media portrays abortion as a  “right”  and a  “choice.”   However  for others  whom  precieve abortion  as immoral who shouldn’t have the cost forced upon them.

Although abortions are legal,  majority members of our society identify themselves as pro – lifers.  Those numbers…. today are higher then anytime since Roe versus Wade went into effect.  Also the reality  of  the  situation is that many abortions involve some  forms  of  coercion.  As  more  and  more women whom have abortions are becoming involved in pro – life activity.

After 40 years and over 55 million abortions,  that  can  dull  ones public conscience to the beauty of child birth.  For the dignity of life, the tragedy of abortion,  before birth and the baby,  the mother and  for American Culture. We  must  do  a  reality  check  (abort73.com)  includes  pictures  of  preborn babies, methods of abortion and resources of assistance.

Both before and after abortions we must precede with drum beats about the  “inevitability”  of  becoming  “acceptible.”  Thereby,  pregnancy centers a bound  for  mothers  with  problem  pregnancies  which  were  founded  by those pro – lifers  just wanting to lend a helping hand. Giving those mothers whom have second thoughts about deliverence the opportunity to give their babies a chance of  life before death?

What Causes Cancer

I have to again state the main goal of Cancer Quick Facts @ Solitarius.org is to provide a centralized hub of cancer research. With the risk of  plagorism  violations  or  copyright infringement….  which  isn’t  the  case  on  the  internet.  My  main  goal  is  providing  the visitant a compass  for a  direction  without  credit  for  the  answer to cancer.  Each  time  the  visitant  clicks  onto  a  link externally  and  enters into anothers website thats giving them credit. So how can that be a violation or infringement on anyboby’s rights.

Often  family  members  have  certain  risk  factors  in  common,  such as smoking which can cause many types  of  cancer.  Abnormal  genes  that  are passed  along  from  generation  to  generation,  that is  often  referred  to  as inherited cancer causing 5% to 10% of all cancers. Do impart only  5% to 10%  of all cancers is caused by abnormal genes going array.

Which breaks down into inherited gene mutations or acquired (somatic) mutations.  Genes seemingly,  have  two major roles  in  the  development  of cancer.  Some that’s called oncogenes  can cause cancer,  others  also  known as tumor suppressor genes stop cancer from developing or growing.

Oncogenes, Tumor Supressor Genes and Cancer: oncogenes are mutated forms  of  certain  normal genes  of  the  cell  called  proto- oncogenes.  Proto – oncogenes  are  often  genes  that  normally control what kind  of  cell it is and how  often  it  grows  and  divides.  When  a  proto – oncogenes  mutates (changes) into an oncogene, it turns on or activates when it is not supposed to be.

When this occurs the cell grows out  of  control while turning into cancer.   A tumor suppressor gene is like the brake pedal  of  a car.  It  normally  keeps the  cell  from  dividing to quickly  as  a  brake keeps  the  car  from moving to fast. An important difference between the oncogenes  and  tumor suppressor genes.  The oncogenes result  from  the activation of  turning  off   the proto-oncogenes,  however,  the tumor suppressor genes causes cancer when they are inactivated (turned off.)

Even  if  you  were  born  with  healthy genes, some  of  them  can  become changed (mutated) over the course  of  your life. These mutations are known as sporadic or somatic, meaning they are not inherited.  Sporadic mutations cause most cases  of  cancer. Those mutations ….may be caused  by direct 0r  indirect carcinogens that we are exposed to  in  our  environment,   including cigarette smoke,  radiation,  hormone imbalances,  diet  (although  in  many cases there is no obvious cause.)

Most genes mutations build up as we get older, leading to a higher risk of cancer. When someone has inherited an abnormal copy of  a gene, their cells start out  with  one  mutation.  This  makes  it  all  the  easier (and quicker for enough mutations to build up….  for  a cell to  become cancer.  Although  in  a perfect world,  if  smokers  wouldn’t smoke which causes  30%  of  all cancers and governments wouldn’t have  to  raise additional tax revenue  from  it;  to pay  off  the cost of  the health harzards  from it.

What It Is… Might Become

Looking back through the blog post  for the last several months.  I see hope that the    answers to cancer are in Solitarius. What it is…. is a centralized hub of cancer research: for those visitants looking  for cancer quick facts  or  for the cancer patient searching for facts on cancer. Either way through the power of the internet alot of vital information is in one website.

When I started researching for this personal blog seven years ago,  it was   for the reason so much is unexplainable while dealing with others whom are dealing with this dreadful disease.  Also for those times…. when you run into others during conversation,  one being  Mr. Z from a neighboring community whom you talk to and is 92 years old and looks like 82 years old. Who is a bit overweight…. is still healthy and active farmimg.

In other instances:  some are in their early to mid 50’s and aren’t healthy. While weighing in at the correct body mass index and are either dealing with colon cancer  or  heart disease.  Maybe for another reason…. explain how one farmer  can  get  cancer…. while their neighbor is healthy as a fiddle.  My own father worked years as a machinist with arms and hands exposed to a known carcinogen, “coolant for machining” with a known cause of bladder cancer.

While some experts argue the genetics and nutritional arguement as more and  more  cancer  patients  die. Throughout  the   first  year  which  was  one long  –  full year  of  wonderment.  I created a progressive one blog post after the other while providing better information then the blog post before them. In this blog post my aim is to go back and bring information  forward  while  creating a website that is highly accessible and easier to navigate.

Is To Much Of A Good Thing… A Good Thing: a daily multi – vitamin             is it a good thing good or simply a waste of money….

O – GLcNacylation: how sugar acts as a poison triggering high rates            of obesity, diabetes and wrecking our train of thought….

Mercury Madness: does consuming fish cause health issues….

Hydrogen Sulphide: will the “amino acids”  in redmeat turn sulphur      into  Hydrogen Sulphide….

Down To The Wire: this blog post includes the best websites which are    truly informative in anyones search for answers to cancer….

Inflammatory Response: inflammatory cholesterol is the true evil      behind heart disease….

Nitrogen Balance: the importance of protein and how it benefits your      life as you age….

A Cure Through Prevention: explains some of the more popular carcinogens that causes cancer….

Solitarius… 0ne year later: exploring some of the main highlights of               this website in it’s first year….

An Ounce of Prevention:  from the Beehive States belief of clean living          to Dr. Olivier Ameisen experience with the Demons of Alcohol….

Connecting The Dots: is about some of the options available to  patients in the medical field….

Organize This Kaotic System: included is my Links  for information            on the 18 major types of cancer….

The Anerobic Effect of Cancer: The Hot Tips of July links are vital information as is metabolising glucose through exercise….

Integrative Medicine: introduces the visitant to some of the better Integrative Medical Centers in Arizona with treatment options….

The Good and The Bad Of It:  proper ratio’s of carbohydrates,  fats               to protein in your diet is very beneficial….

Bridge Over Troubled Water: I’m harping about Vitamin Deficiencies again…. you better believe I think it vitally important….

Power of Positive Thinking: Chinese Qigong  “Life Energy”  is  the         practice of aligning breath, movement and awareness for exercise             into  healing  and mediation through the lymphatic system….

Hopefully,  what might be in the  future with Solitarius.org  is a landing strip for those visitants looking for an Answer to Cancer. Also included will be a cancer patient  forum where one cancer tell of a success story  for their type of cancer. While lending support to others helping them overcome the the obstacles by reading others experiences. Which doctors  and  hospitals  services they utilized for long term duration of cancer remission.

Is To Much Of A Good Thing… A Good Thing

A daily multi – vitamin  shouldn’t be a replacement  for a healthy diet. Yes… We all  know  the  virtues  of  leafy green vegetables  and  whole grains,  but convenience  and  cravings  that  leads  us  astray.  However,  none  of  us  is perfect and even my  friends wait  for me to eat an occasional slice of pizza  to remind me of that.  When it comes to healthy eating…. multi – vitamins  aren’t partial protections  from those lapses  from a  80/20 diet of clean eating.  I’ve had people tell me already ….I don’t eat foods with vitamins and minerals…. because vitamins and minerals aren’t good for you???

Some people scarf down mega doses,  an approach most experts disagree with, while taking very large doses can cause symptoms and stopping them suddenly can lead to symptoms of vitamin deficiency; it’s also important to take a quality multi – vitamin that has all the standard quantities.  It’s also well established  that a trio of  B – vitamins — B6,  B12  and  folate — lowers homocysteine levels.

Homocysteine is an amino acid that’s a risk factor for heart attack,  stroke and  dementia.  The logical supposition: while  having  an  ample  supply  of B’s coursing through your blood veins  (and arteries) is  essential  and  could improve  your  chances  of  avoiding  cardiovascular  disease  and  cognitive decline  to  healthy  folks.  However with this  research  patients  in  some  of these studies had homocysteine levels that were normal or slightly elevated and may not apply to people with higher levels.

Some of the best results from a randomized controlled trial published in the New England Journal of  Medicine (NEJM)  in April 2006.  Showed that while B vitamins lowered homocysteine levels, those studies results showed their  weren’t  fewer  heart  attacks  or  other  major  cardiovascular  events.  A second disappointing study was published in NEJM in 2006. Despite their homocysteine – lowering prowess B vitamins were no better than placebo at protecting people from cognitive decline.

Multi – vitamins…. which are already part of some health experts official recommendations.   Also the Federal Government’s 2005 Dietary Guidelines suggest that people older then 50 years old, should  take  them  as  away  of ensuring adequate vitamin intake.  And the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  advises  all  women  of  child  bearing  age  to  take  folic  acid — because doing so lowers the risk of  birth defects.

Also remember the importance of vitamin D deficiencies creating a higher risk of cancer. On average Americans have a vitamin D level in the 25Ng/ml level on average and that amount should be  between 60  and  70 Ng/ml.  So if  you take a multi – vitamin… be sure to buy a major  name  or  store brand product that meets standardized guidelines. When Consumers Union tested cut – rate products, it  found  almost  half  didn’t  contain the listed amounts of at least one nutrient.

The National Institute of Health convened a meeting on Multi – Vitamins   and Mineral Supplements in May 2006.  The resulting statement  from that conference was extremely cautious. Present evidence is thereby insufficient to recommend….. either for or against….  the use of multi – vitamins/multi – mineral supplements  by  the  American  public  to  prevent  chronic disease which was the inconclusive conclusion.

Americans  eat  alot  of  sugary  foods  as  we  know  this  habit  is quite probably    wrecking  our  bodies.  While  also  triggering  high  rates  of  obesity,  diabetes  and    also at the same time wrecking our train of thought. That’s the disturbing conclusion emerging in a body of  research  that links  Alzheimers disease  to  insulin  resistance,  which  in  turn  is  than linked  to  excessive artificial sweetner consumption.

Scientists  have known  for some time  that  insulin regulates  blood sugar, “giving the cue  for muscles,  the liver  and  fat cells to extract sugar from the blood and either use it for energy or store it as fat,”  New Scientist Magazine a U.K. Magazine also reports, “trouble begins when our muscle, fat and liver cell’s  STOP  responding  properly to insulin — that is,  they  STOP  taking  in glucose.”    Also what is the Connection Between Sugar & Arthritis?

This condition known as insulin resistance and  also prediabetes causes the pancreas to produce excess amounts of  insulin,  even as,  excess glucose builds up in the blood.  Type II Diabetes, in essence, is the chronic condition of  excess blood glucose  which symptoms  include  frequent bladder, kidney and  skin infections, fatique, excess hunger and erectile dysfunction.

Here in the United States, Type II Diabetes rates have tripled since 1980. What’s emerging is that insulin also regulates neurotransmitters, like that of acetylcholine; which are crucial for memory and learning. That’s not all, “it’s  also  important  for the  function  and  growth  of  blood  vessels. Which supply the brain with oxygen and glucose.  As a result reducing the level of  insulin in the brain can immediately impair cognition.”

So when people develope insulin resistance,  insulin spikes also begin to overwhelm the brain. Which can’t constantly be on high alert and then bad things  happen,  either those changes  associated  with  Type II Diabetes,  or seperately;  the brain may begin to turn down it’s insulin signalling,  while impairing your ability to think and form recent memories before leading to permanent neural damage and eventually Alzheimers.

Chillingly,  scientist also have been able to induce these conditions in lab animals.  At her laboratory  at  Brown University,  Suzanne De’ la Monte whose  experiments  blocked insulin  to  flow into the brains of  mice while essentially inducing Alzheimer. When  she  examined  their brains here is what she found as described by New Scientist.

Areas  associated  with  memory  were  studied  with  bright  pink  plaque,    while  many  neurons  had  toxic  protein that was disintegrated — they lost their  connections  with  other  neurons  and  were teetering on the brink of death.  There is also research tying brain dysfunction directly to excessive sugar consumption.  In  a  2012  Ucla  research  study,  scientist  fed  rats  a heavy ration of both  fructose (which makes up roughly half  of  both table sugar and high fructose corn syrup.)

As  noted  from  this  study…. both insulin resistance and impaired brain function occurred within six weeks. Interestingly, also they found that both insulin function  and  brain performance improved  in  the  sugar – fed  rats when they were feed omega – 3 fatty acids.  Another facet of American Diets are lots of cheap added fats,  may  also trigger insulin problems  and  brain dysfunction.

New Scientist Magazine red flags yet another recent study, while this      one  from  University of Washington researchers.  Finding  that rats  fed a high  fat  diet  for  a  year  lost  their ability to regulate insulin,  developed diabetes  while showing  signs of brain deterioration.  In the United States alone,  24 million or 8% of  all Americans…. have been diagnosed with this condition.  What’s  also  further  concerning  is  79 million  Americans  are considered prediabetic showing early  signs of insulin resistance.

When  you  take  into  account  another  5.4  million  Amercans  or  nearly two percent having  Alzheimers costing in estimates of  $200 Billion Dollars annually.  If  Alzheimers  and  Type II  Diabetes share  this  common thread, levels  of  dementia  may   follow  a  similar  trajectory  as  these  people  age making this situation tragic for the generations that come after ours.  While providing a death spiral  for the country…. as we become  a  2:1 ratio nation  of  age versus youthful providers.

Mercury Madness

The Dangers of  Mercury Amalgams  came to light today while watching YourHealthTv with Dr. Richard Becker. His quest was Dr. Hal Huggins and the topic was mercury amalgams to fill cavities in teeth. It’s no secret since mercury  has  been  utilized  there  has  an  increase in auto immune disease. As other health care professionals  will  tell  you  that  mercury  poisons can cause cancerhowever,  is that really true.

Dr. Hal Huggins  whom  created  also  the  Huggins Diagnostic Center  in Colorado Springs, Colorado believes. Even though he had his dental liscense revoked in 1996 for thinking out of  the box.  Supposely tricks the chronic ill patients into thinking the true cause of their illness was mercury poisoning. Dr. Hal  was investigated by the FDA  for his marketing of the Amalgameter, which  is  an  advice which claimed to detect positively  or  negative charged dental fillings in teeth.      Thank GOD… non – Amalgam Fillings!!!

The  ADA’s position  that  dental amalgams  are  a  safe and effective  material  to  fill  cavities.  This  stance  which  is  also  supported  by  the          U.S. Public Health Service, the European Commission, the World Health Organization  and  by many studies.  In  late  2004… a  group called the Sciences Research Office also reviewed seven years worth of insufficient studies and concluded.  That  there  is  insufficient evidence,  “of  a  link  between  dental mercury amalgams  and  health issues  except  in rare instances of allergic reactions.”

Mercury is a naturally occuring element that is found in air,  water  and soil. Additionally mercury enters the air  from mining ore, burning coal and trash.  Also exposure  to  mercury  occurs  from  breathing contaminated air, while ingesting contaminated water and  food.  With  this  all told…. can we get cancer  from eating fish.  We  know  high levels of  mercury exposure can harm the brain,  heart,  kidneys,  lungs and the immune system of people of all ages.

However there isn’t enough human data suggesting that it causes cancer. Although the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),  has  determined that  methylmercury  is  a  possible  human  carcinogen.  Methylmercury is made  primarily  by  microscopic  organisms  in  water  and  soil.  Therefore Methylmercury builds up in the tissues of fish over time. So while the oldest and largest fish have higher levels of mercury.

Research shows  most people that consume fish usually are healthier than those whom don’t eat fish.  My only advice is….  don’t eat fish that have gray pigmentation  in  it’s  tissue because some fish have higher concentrations of mercury than others that can harm developing nervous systems of a fetus or young child.
