The BodyMind Concept: Two Surprising      Tips to Heal Your Body with Your Mind

I remember once feeling like I was offering my patients a warm, nurturing hug when I would give them a diagnosis, or confirm it, after a consultation. “It’s the nature of Bipolar Disorder,” I would say “…it’s just part of your lineage, a brain chemistry condition, that thankfully, we can manage if you stick with your medication.”

I never suspected that this diagnosis would ultimately be cold comfort,        and perhaps even something like a number on a prisoner’s jumpsuit.

A diagnosis is just that. It is a label that reduces a human experience to an impersonal pattern. A pattern that your doctor is trained to match up with a prescription or medical intervention. This pattern recognition makes no room for you – your story, your experience, the meaning of your symptoms.

Unfortunately, medical training has neglected to heed the advice of our forefathers like William Osler who said: “It is more important to find out what patient has the disease  than what disease the patient has.”

Hospital-based doctors are notorious for referencing their patients by their diagnosis –  the COPD exacerbation in room 401c – as if they are stick figures with signs hanging around their necks.

If you are simply a broken down machine that needs a tune up, then obviously, what      you eat, think, and feel, let alone the very personal significance of the symptoms, are totally irrelevant to the point of distraction from the matter at hand.

The “you” in your illness

It is clear to me now that there is deep meaning in illness, and a corresponding invitation designed especially for you.  In fact,  the medical literature is beginning to catch up with   the concept, publishing articles entitled Symbolic Diseases and Mindbody Co-Emergence.

In this way, how you interpret your symptoms is everything.

Mindset has become the bedrock of my transformational medicine practice. My patients are invited to explore, examine, and become deeply aware of their beliefs. These beliefs determine how they experience suffering and the potential for self-healing activation. These beliefs give them the ability to trust that everything is going to be exactly as it needs to be.

These beliefs even override elements and aspects of our biology that we think of as cause and effect. I’m talking about everything from less blood loss in surgery to also faster bone healing, to lessened use of pain meds if a soldier knew his injury would lead to a dismissal home.

What about infection? It’s about germ exposure, right? Perhaps it’s not so simple as    germ exposure equals illness…

Do negative beliefs lead to illness?

Cohen et al report that the response to this simple question was the most meaningful determinant of clinical experience of the common cold: “In general, how would you     rate your health?” After being inoculated with cold viruses, participants in Cohen’s      study demonstrated that negative health perception led to the experience of common    cold symptoms regardless of whether the immune system was reacting**.

In other words, if someone had a positive health perception, got exposed, and had antibody confirmation of immune response,  they did not manifest clinical symptoms of the cold (aka get sick). Now, it’s possible that positive and negative perceptions result from a sensed experience of an inflammatory state would lead to more frequent infections, but this relationship between thoughts, emotions, the immune system is tri-directional, each arm as significant as the other.

Mind as body, body as mind

When symptoms of overwhelm, sadness, and hopelessness do emerge, however, more  than a positive attitude may be required to suffer better, and to access the gift that the illness brings.

The resolution of these symptoms may not call for fighting, either. It may, in fact,              be the opposite of fighting: an attitude of acceptance and non-resistance.

When we accept and allow, we unite with our body and our illness. Your experience           is no longer one of a divided front with warring factions set out to kill at all costs.

In fact, I dug deep into the annals of medicine to find data from decades ago that was telling us that healing comes when we accept our health challenges.

In other words, allowing struggle, pain, and suffering to just be, led to immune system improvement in these patients. Based on the work of renegade scientist Dr. Candace Pert, we have known for quite some time that the mind/body division is a false one. Illness manifests out of both spaces and resides in both spaces.

2 Tips to Try Today:

When my patients are in the darkness of their transformational birth canal, and when    the struggle is crushing, and fear and hopelessness taunt them like some horrific circus clown, I talk to them as my midwife spoke to me when I was in the transition phase of active labor.

  https://scdlifestyle.com/2017/07/improve-your-mindset-to-heal-faster/

I tell them to watch for opportunities to unite with their experience rather than fight it:

1. Say yes when you want to say no

When your entire being is rejecting your experience, saying “I don’t want this. I can’t handle this. I could never bear a life of this.” Play with it and start a sentence with “Yes”. Try saying “Yes, I needed it to be this way to get where I am going next” or “Yes, this is hard. Really hard.” Or, simply, the word “Yes” over and over.

2. Do nothing when you want to do something

When your mind is saying “No”, you will almost immediately seek to fix the situation. Reach for a cookie or a beer, stay later at work, call that ex-boyfriend, give in to the medical intervention you know you don’t need.

You will reach for a way to take the edge off the discomfort. But if you just sit with it,           it changes. Just be with it. Watch it. And wait for the intensity of pain and sadness to transform. Float in the deep, scary water because if you flail around, you might drown     the you that needs to be saved.

Watch your mind when you are in crisis. Play with it so that you can look with curiosity instead of fear on your experience. Understand that illness, pain, and suffering may be   the portal to your more authentic self. All you have to do is allow it to unfold.

Commit to yourself… surrender to what is… and you will heal, transform,  and experience a joy that is far beyond the simple relief you thought you   were seeking.

How Can I Help Your Body Heal Itself?

The human body knows how to heal itself. And it is always working toward a state of homeostasis, which is balanced and well. Conflict between the conscious and subconscious mind creates blocks in the information pathways of the body which block natural healing. The techniques that I use identify the conflicts sponsoring your complaints.

Once identified, the negative belief which is creating the conflict can be reset to the positive so that your conscious and subconscious are in harmony with each other.            The body then starts its own, natural healing process. http://www.healingthroughyourmindset.com/

Can Positive Thinking Help You Heal?

Lissa Rankin, MD discusses a CNN article on positive thinking.

A big part of the book I’m writing Mind Over Medicine: Scientific Proof You Can Heal Yourself (Hay House, 2013) is about how positive belief, hope, and expectation can trigger self-healing superpowers that manifest physiologically in the body, so I was delighted to read this article on CNN (link is external) by one of my heroes, Dr. Deepak Chopra.

In this article, Dr. Chopra (can I call him Deepak?) calls attention to the warring schools of thought between the power of positive thinking camp and the conventional medical community regarding whether positive thoughts can affect the health of the body.

Some studies performed on very sick cancer patients have shown that it can’t. In fact, one of those studies was performed on the patients under the care of my friend and fellow Owning Pink blogger, Dr. Bernie Siegel (link is external), author of Love, Medicine & Miracles (link is external). When patients in his positive-thinking ECaP program for cancer patients (link is external)were studied, they were found to have no higher rates of cancer cure than those who didn’t complete the program.

So does this mean positive thinking doesn’t work? It’s enough to confuse anyone.

What does Deepak Chopra think?

Dr. Deepak writes:

Doctors are confused, too. It has always been part of a doctor’s kit bag to tell patients to keep their spirits up. Until a few decades ago, it was standard not to acquaint a dying patient with the gravity of his condition, which implies an unspoken agreement that hearing bad news isn’t good for patients.

At the same time, doctors want to protect their profession, so few want to cross the line and support the notion that how you think can work as powerfully as “real” medicine.

Let’s see if some of this confusion can be cleared up.

First of all, thinking is “real” medicine, as proven by the placebo effect. When given a sugar pill in place of a prescription drug, an average of 30% of subjects will show a positive response. What causes this response isn’t a physical substance but the activity of the mind-body connection. Expectations are powerful. If you think you’ve been given a drug that will make you better, often that is enough to make you better.

But if studies showed that positive thinking didn’t effect cure rates, what do we make of this? Dr. Deepak says:

On the plus side, the studies that debunk positive thinking deal with very sick patients struggling to recover from major diseases. They do not comment on how positive thinking might prevent disease or how it might affect someone in the very early stages of illness.  The real point isn’t to rescue a dying patient but to maintain wellness… The upshot is that medicine cannot be definitive on how mood affects wellness. But if I wanted to enhance a state of wellness before symptoms of illness appeared, there is much to be gained and no risks involved in trying to reach the best state of mind possible.

Healing Vs. Curing

After reading about the study on his patients, I emailed Bernie Siegel and wrote, “It seems to me that the equivocation over whether support groups help cancer patients in randomized controlled trials is a bit silly, because while you can study cure rates, you can’t really study rates of healing, and as you and I both know, healing and curing are different.

I would argue that your patients – even if they died – probably died healed because of the love and support. But that’s just my two cents.”

Beyond Healing

But I still believe that love, support, and positive belief go far beyond healing and can actually manifest cure – and there’s loads of science to prove it (link is external), as I’m finding with my research. It’s tough to study support groups and outcomes related to them. How do you know if the people are really believing they can get well? How can you measure these things?

I’m trying to get to the bottom of these very issues in my own mind, so I can help translate them for you. But I love that this conversation is even happening on websites like CNN (link is external) and from the mouths of doctors like Deepak. Things are shifting. There is resistance from the medical community, of course, but there is also a softening that I’m already starting to feel and witness, even from the private emails doctors are sending me.

We are ready for this shift. It is time.

There is no glory in giving up, and there is no glory in staying sick. Life is about living the very best way that we know how, and to realize that suffering does not have to be a part of it. Pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice. In my first book, From HELL to inspired, I take you with me on my own journey from feeling completely lost and sick, to living the life that I love. I have shared my experience on living with a so-called chronic illness, and my encounters with our so-called health care system. I am happy and honored to be able to share my path and my knowledge, and I am confident that if you are in the need of healing, on any level, you will find truth between those covers.

There is a misconception that our feelings create our thoughts however it is our thoughts that create our feelings.
Most of our thoughts are not real and most of our thoughts are the cause of our daily pain and struggles.
Our mindset is operating from a specific paradigm and this is creating our current results in all areas of our life.

Dr. Alia Crum’s research focuses on how changes in subjective mindsets—the lenses through which information is perceived, organized, and interpreted—can alter objective reality through behavioral, psychological, and physiological mechanisms.
Her work is, in part, inspired by research on the placebo effect, a notable and consistent demonstration of the ability of the mindset to elicit healing properties in the body.
She is interested in understanding how mindsets affect important outcomes outside the realm of medicine, in the domains of behavioral health and organizational behavior.

Live Your Other Half Life

Image may contain: sky, cloud, tree, outdoor and nature

This blog post was inspired from a Facebook friend from Montreal Canada      when she told me that she rides her bicycle all winter regardless of weather.  Ginette  told  me  that cold is a state of mind  you have to overcome when its cold for six months of a year.    If you are afraid its cold outside you won’t do nothing for half your life. With one of Ginette’s favorite pictures (above).

I began to understand her outlook on the obstacles of living life.

“Ma plus grande découverte a été de prendre conscience que, dans ma vie, la plupart des barrières, c’est moi qui les avais érigées.”  English Translation: ” My greatest discovery was to realize that, in my life, most of the barriers, I had erected them.”    ~ Cheryl Jarvis!!!

 In Ginette’s Own Words:
I have a black belt in karate but the lessons I learned from martial Arts can be applied        it to our daily living. In our daily living  ” don’t worry about the results of your actions,    just give your attention to the action itself. The result will come from itself. ”
.
(Extract from the book the Power of the Present Moment
by Spiritual Master Eckhart Tolle.)
My reflection this morning about the desire to be more authentic and how it is connected to my practice of martial arts. I still hear my sensei (Professor) who told me constantly: ‘ ‘ presence of the spirit Ginette ‘ ‘. and it was only years later that I understood him.
.
In Martial Arts we do not fight the other but our own fears. This is our greatest fight. It is our fears that lie in our actions, especially when we dare to leave our comfort zone. We cannot live in the illusion of who we are and at the same time go to our authentic self. This desire to go to a greater authenticity requires a serious look in the mirror and face to face.

To accept and welcome who we are, and not just our qualities, is a gesture of courage.
.
The first step towards greater authenticity is to accept our ‘ ‘ and our ‘ ‘ ‘. If we want             to change  the first step is to accept and welcome them in with Compassion and non-judgment.
.
This is the first step towards our authentic self. The presence of the spirit allows us to         be simpler and more spontaneous in the movements of our body which is guided by the intuition of our heart. Come on, don’t believe me. Face your fears and tell me how it changes your behavior and ultimately your life.

No matter what path you follow in 2018 I wish you to do it consciously and get out of your comfort zone to become your authentic self. Let’s drop our masks and dare to be. Learn to penetrate life consciously in martial art the secret is to learn to lead the spirit. It forms the basis of all our bodily movements. Action Just..
.
I’d like to talk to you about letting go and how it’s connected to martial arts.
.
There are a lot of schools in the martial arts but they all share the ‘ ‘ ‘. Mi: body.
.

In the teaching of du “Taekwon-do,”  which I have practiced for over        15 years, it is important to practice the release. The law of every effort. Give up the ego and become a pond between heaven and earth. Abandon attachments, personal desires, ego. You learn to direct the ego objectively and not to act in fear. Even if you fall, you don’t have to be afraid or be anxious. We have to focus here and now.

.
Everything has to come from here and now. While we use our thoughts, actions become slow and hesitant. You see how martial arts will be practique in everyday life and not only in a dojo (Studio). It may help you understand why I seem to be acting fast sometimes. Years of practice lol..

In Martial Arts to harmonise heaven and earth it is essential to focus on the expiration. This causes energy to flow to the bottom of the body and spine, and this restores strength, anchoring and relaxation. You also realize that criminals are free and many innocent people are in a prison of their own barriers. But do you see now more than ever what you  prison really is? In todays world we see young people who are hypnotized in front of their video games, their screens, their films and their texts or their emails. Technology is a means of enslavement.

Living half.. (Khalil Gibran)

Do not frequent those who are half in love,
Don’t be a friend of those who are half friends..
Don’t read those half-inspired.
Don’t live half-life
Don’t die half again
Do not choose half a solution
Don’t stop in the middle of the truth
Don’t dream half
Don’t tie up half a hope
If you shut up, keep quiet until the end, and if you express yourself, you can express yourself to the end too.
Do not choose silence to speak, nor speak to be silent…
If you are satisfied, express your satisfaction and do not pretend to be half satisfied…
And if you refuse, fully express your refusal, because to refuse half is to accept..
Living half is living a life you haven’t lived…
Speaking half is not to say anything you want to express
Smile half, it’s ajourner your smile,
Loving half is not reaching your love
Being friends half is not knowing friendship
Living half is what makes you stranger to those closest to you, and makes them strangers to you….
Half the things are successful and not successful, working and not working, it’s being present and… absent
When you do things halfway, it’s you, when you’re not yourself, because you didn’t know who you were.
It’s not knowing who you are…
The one you love is not your other half… it’s yourself, at another place, at the same time.
Drinking half won’t soothe your thirst, eat half your hunger…
A halfway path won’t get you anywhere.
And an idea expressed half won’t give any results…
Living half is being incapacitated and you’re not capable…
‘ cause you’re not half a human being.
You’re a human being…
You were created to live full life, not to live half.

This planet is doing everything it can to make sure we become the best version of ourselves. The Universe really works in our favor, regardless          of the situation.

The universe aligns you to be in the right place right time to fulfill your mission in Life. My thought of the day:  in these moments of great change and transition it is increasingly important to remain well rooted  to earth    it is one of  the best ways to escape fear and doubt.

Even if we live in cold climates .it has never been as important as we get closer to nature and engage in very concrete activities that can allow us to remain in the present moment.

We are also being more enslaved to a health system that doesn’t work.        The Health insurance card… ensures the disease. Why not have health insurance that ensures our health.  I invest time and money in my health.

A healthy mind in a healthy body. The Disease System we have is really far from that. Don’t wait until your sick to treat your health because you will be paying to treat illness. Is it too complicated to understand?

Nothing Positive Comes From Being Negative

The Mind-Body Connection

The mind-body connection is real. Researchers believe that patients with high expectations for getting better, release biological chemicals to simulate the effect,           while altering specific regions of the brain to achieve the believed results.
 .

Your body has the ability to mimic the effects of antidepressants, anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, and asthma medication. The science behind this phenomenon may be largely unknown but that doesn’t  invalidate it.

The truth is, scientists are beginning to understand how the brain communicates with the body on the cellular level. An understanding of the cellular steps has blossomed since Sir John Vane won his Nobel Prize in 1982. In fact, four additional Nobel Prizes have been given in the last decade for discoveries about cell communication within the body.

The good news is that deep breathing exercises and oxygenating aerobic exercises have proven to be an effective method for reducing stress and building the immune system. Bristol University reviewed 52 worldwide studies and concluded that people who incorporated daily exercise routines developed fewer cancers and those with cancer survived longer. Exercise also produces “happy hormones” called endorphins, which neutralize the stressful ones.

Naturally, diet and lifestyle choices play a major role in one’s overall health, but never discount the power of  thought and the effect it has on one’s ability to prevent,  fight and keep cancer from coming back.

Can your mind heal you of cancer? Carl Stonier is an expert counsellor and he is adamant your mental state can be ´lifted´ to help you beat cancer.

The power of the mind to heal cancer

Carl Stonier, 55, recently completed his doctorate degree exploring the relationship between physical and psychological health. The results of his study on patients with heart disease resoundingly reinforce the value of stress reduction and mind power in the healing journey. Carl is a counsellor and psychosexual therapist in private practice as well as a supervisor and trainer for Relate and a trustee of the National Conference of Cancer Self Help Groups. In the l980s he worked on the ground-breaking heart transplant unit led by Sir Terence English at Papworth Hospital.  Through many years with the NHS, as a nurse, Nurse Manager and specialist consultant in counselling, Carl pursued a special interest in the wellbeing of cancer patients. He lives in Yorkshire but runs nationwide workshops on shamanic journey, healing, tai chi and meditation. Here icon learns how Carl came to recognise that there is more to healing than general medicine addresses. We report how he developed his unique treatment modality ´an active process combining counselling and guided imagery´ and how those with cancer could benefit.

The might of metaphor and well being Carl Stonier´s guide to a good place.

The first question, which was to lead Carl on a path beyond white-coated authority, came to him during his nurse training in mental handicap. ´I´ve always been a bit of an anarchist. I like to challenge´ he says. ´So what I observed in this work was that an awful lot of people who had spent a lifetime in mental hospitals and I mean the bad, old-style Victorian bins retained really robust physical health.

is there a connection between a lifestyle where everything is found for an individual and where that person is very protected

Despite being totally shut off from the world and despite profound learning problems, many people in their seventies and eighties were still as slim as a lath, walking everywhere, even gardening. I asked myself why this should be is there a connection between a lifestyle where everything is found for an individual and where that person is very protected. These people don´t have the intellectual ability to recognise that the outside world has something they lack, so there is no stress, no pressure there.´

And the second

Once qualified, Carl moved into general nursing “where the questioning continued. I still remember a chap in his thirties who had never smoked in his life a very talented artist, who was dying of lung cancer.

´It always seems to happen to the nice guys´

A fellow patient wondered aloud how such a thing could happen to this person ´It always seems to happen to the nice guys´ he said. So I began to think about what is it about being a nice guy that might cause illness. That question just hung around.

Medicine and the mental paradigm!!!

By l984 Carl was a nursing officer in Castleford, Yorks where he set up a working party to explore the provision for cancer care across the district. Out of this came a Macmillan-funded nursing post for someone to support newly-diagnosed patients in the oncology clinic and also the Castleford and District Cancer Self-Help Group one of the first of its kind in the country.  In his quest for whole patient support outside the general medicine box, Carl read wide and travelled far. He visited the Bristol Cancer Help Centre. He talked to Jean Sayre-Adams and Professor Steve Wright who went on to found The Sacred Space Foundation (in the Lake District) for people many from health care backgrounds) who are suffering stress and joylessness and, therefore, seek the right environment for renewal and healing.

emotional and mental states play a significant role, both in susceptibility to, and recovery from, cancer

Then he had ´a light bulb moment´ turning the pages of Getting Well Again by Carl and Stephanie Simonton. This US couple were committed to the concept of mental processes bringing about a physical effect. The Simontons believed that emotional and mental states play a significant role, both in susceptibility to, and recovery from, cancer. Their book made meaning of the links that Carl himself had observed over the past decade, between reaction to stress, suppression of the immune system and subsequent tendency to illness. It suggested, (not instead of, but as well as orthodox treatment) a programme of mental imagery, focusing on the desired outcome the restoration of health, physical, emotional and intellectual. Says Carl ´The questioner in me saw that this approach doesn´t fit into orthodox medicine but many things don´t and they too seem to work.´

He successfully applied for a travel fellowship to study with Stephanie Simonton at Little Rock, Arkansas, where she had set up a health, training and research centre. ´It was really strange that during my own meditation I was by now using the concept of an imaginary safe place.  I would always go, in my mind, to a little log cabin, all on its own, surrounded by a lake, up in the mountains. Apart from the fact that it was brick, not wood, the centre in Little Rock was exactly the place of my imagination.´

An ideal place

The guided imagery that Carl now uses grew from his intensive week in Little Rock. ´When someone comes to me, I begin with the journey to a special place for them. I get them to imagine a place where they have been, or could be safe and happy, at peace. We usually work on this for a couple of sessions, then move on to an imaginary Control Room where you take charge of everything that happens within your body. You can, for instance, find a control marked ´cancer´ and turn it off.´

The guided imagery finds a place where they can be safe, happy and at peace with an imaginary Control Room where you take charge of everything that happens within your body

You can find a switch marked ´pain´ and turn that off.´  The next stage is to imagine           a monitor or TV screen on the control room wall,  where you can track the effect of the changes you have made to the controls. You then move on to deal directly with the cancer, as seems most effective for you as an imaginative individual. ´The Simontons´ says Carl ´concluded that the more aggressive you are in ´zapping´ the cancer, the more effective you will be. They suggest that cancer sufferers deploy a shark and prey imagery to gobble up all the affected cells.

But I don´t find this useful for all those nice guys who get cancer: they are not naturally aggressive, so if you ask them to be so, you are setting up an internal conflict that does them no good. I suggest a gentler way of delivering healing rays, or perhaps seeing the cancer cells as sick members of society and white cells as the healers, doctors, or stretcher bearers carrying off the sick cells so that they can healed and made whole again.´

Who Benefits?

Surely only those with visual minds can deploy this technique? Carl concedes that guided imagery is not for everyone, but says that if you can work not just with the inner eye, but with all the senses – hearing, smelling, almost believing you can touch the cancer-busting scenario you create, and then the technique becomes so much more powerful.  The Simontons found that a very significant few some six per cent managed to make themselves cancer-free using visualisation. At the other extreme, six per cent reported no difference. ´The 88 per cent in between felt some degree of benefit´ says Carl ´in terms of pain relief or regaining control of their lives.´

Among his own clients, a certain bus driver with stomach cancer stands out.  ´He had a horrendous lifestyle: he smoked horrible little roll-ups all the time, ate convenience foods and took no exercise because of his job. I told him straight, that these were the choices of a complete prat. But it turned out that this chap in his thirties – was absolutely awesome at guided imagery his saving grace.´ This particular man also convinced Carl of one reason why it is so important it is to use visualisation in tandem with counselling: ´sometimes people will produce unhelpful images, so you need the counselling to help them reframe. This man, for instance, initially saw the cancer as red ants and the defender cells as a kind of ant powder. But you know what it´s like if there are ants in the house. no matter how much powder you use, they keep on coming. Basically he was telling himself that the ants were going to take over… he might be able to slow their advance down for a bit, but not eradicate them. after working with visualisation for three weeks before surgery,        the stomach tumour had shrunk to half its size

After counselling, this guy went off and changed the imagery so the cancer became a lame animal and the white cells became hungry lions. He was quite an aggressive character and he managed a total shift  in the balance of power  that was critical.´  Barium studies also had measured this man´s stomach tumour, and after working with visualisation for three weeks before surgery, it had shrunk to half the size. He was out of hospital following much reduced surgery within a week.

He managed to clean up his act for a bit, but soon reverted to the roll-up lifestyle and then contracted bowel cancer. Again he used visualisation and again he recovered. His next brush was with pancreatic cancer from which few recover but he did.´ Carl has no idea what made this particular man operate his anti-cancer imagination so powerfully: ´I wish we did know how wonderful if we could bottle his particular talent! But why this works and for whom is part of ongoing research.´

Another of Carl´s clients met a fellow patient at Cookridge Hospital, Leeds, where she was having radiotherapy for breast cancer. He told her that he too was working with Carl but remotely, using Carl´s tapes, which he´d acquired through his self-help group. This man had actually declined orthodox treatment for his facial skin cancer, but was coming into Cookridge to have his progress monitored. Week by week, the woman reported, you could see the lesion getting smaller until eventually it disappeared.

A third patient, with liver secondaries from breast cancer was less fortunate though guided imagery seemed set to save her. ´She was wonderfully elegant, but you could see from her shape how swollen her abdomen was. When she came to me she had been on chemo for a couple of months, with no response at all. She´d then had to give it up because her blood count was so low, but within a month of us working together, it was normal again. She was recovering well, but sadly, her oncologist decided that the chemo was finally working so it had better be stepped up. The woman died of chemo-induced liver failure. I thought it really tragic.´

Proving the Case for Guided Imagery

If the NHS was a tad broader-minded, then Carl Stonier might never have embarked on his remarkable visualisation Ph.D study. The visualisation clinic he set up was censured and closed down after being reported in the local paper ´with journalistic excess and zeal´.   So Carl cast around for a less emotive field of medicine than cancer in which to carry out a proper controlled study for his Masters in counselling. Turned down flat by    the closed-minded dermatology department of his hospital, he found a new consultant cardiologist much more ready to embrace the complementary.

The study evaluated well, and on the basis of his MA Carl was asked to set up a pioneering counselling department at Pontefract General Infirmary. It was accessible to anyone in the hospital; area GPs could refer directly to it; hospital staff could self refer.

By 1999, Carl (who was also teaching four basic counselling skills and a  certificate              in counselling course within the hospital as well as assuming responsibility for health     and safety) had a personal caseload of 108 clients for the service deemed by a national government audit to be a fantastic model the only one of its kind in the country.

´At which point´ sighs Carl ´the NHS pulled the plug on the service and I parted from        it quite acrimoniously.´

Watch this NEW video and learn how Paula (and tens of thousands of others) are reversing terminal cancer without chemo, radiation and drugs. Learn why she turned down most every surgery recommended. Learn how you and your loved ones can keep from ever getting this horrible disease. Cancer IS curable. God always makes a way.  No one needs to die of cancer. . .Not Any More!        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dvCFeuI_Pk

In my prime of life I heard the dreaded words – “It’s Cancer.”

I researched everything I could and eventually found a combination of methods that treated the root causes of my disease, not just symptoms.

Body-soul-spirit

Many have called me a cancer survivor. I reject that label. I didn’t simply survive cancer –    I am cured of cancer.

When I was diagnosed, my husband Dale became my cheerleader and my counselor. His experience as the only survivor of an airplane crash gave him an astounding ability to see life through a spiritual lens, along with a history of overcoming life-threatening injuries.

Dale became my full-time researcher and he put those skills to valuable use, digging tirelessly for the information I would need to reverse my disease.

We learned that the most effective way to fight disease is to treat the whole person – body, soul and spirit. God created us in His image: we are a spirit, we have a soul (our mind, will and emotions) and we live in a body.

Each of these parts plays a different role, yet they interconnect. Each part has a great effect on health or sickness, on life or death. And each part affects the other parts for good or bad. This means that even when sickness or disease is apparent in your body, the illness may be rooted in your spirit or your soul. Thus, for permanent vibrant health, you must address all three parts—your spirit, your soul, and your body.

The spirit refers to your spiritual heart, not your physical heart. You are a spirit being, created in God’s image. God is a spirit. The real you is your spirit, not your body or mind. You also have a soul, consisting of your mind, your will, and your emotions.  Though it’s probably the least understood of the three parts,  the soul has a profound effect on your    life in a myriad of ways.  People commonly believe the soul  and spirit refer to the same thing—but they do not.  According to Scripture,  they are clearly different,  yet both are eternal parts of your being.

You live in a body that exists to house your spirit and soul. Your body also allows             you to interact with the physical world in which you live. The body is the easiest part to understand because you can see it and touch it. You can literally feel your body, inside   and out.

For example, if your toe hurts or your head aches, you know your body is afflicted. Your body is also the part of you that others acknowledge and with whom they interact. If you don’t consciously adjust your way of thinking, you can mistakenly believing that your body is who you are. But your body is where you live—not who you are. You—the real you—is your spirit.

Think of your body like you do your car. It’s the vehicle you use to get around in.          When people who know you see your car coming, they say, “Here comes so-and-so.” They recognize you by the car you drive, but you are not your car. Similarly, you need a physical vehicle—your body—to carry your spirit and soul through this natural world. In summary, you are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body.

Because each of these three parts interconnect and interrelate, one part cannot be affected without the other parts responding either positively or negatively.

When most people think of sickness or disease, they think only about the body. But unforgiveness, continual stress, or feelings of fear and anxiety—which are spirit and soul issues—can have a very detrimental effect on our physical bodies.

If you are sick and want to get well… or if you are well and want to prevent disease…        you need to understand and address your whole person—body, soul and spirit.

Cancer and the Soul

By Jeannine Walston

“Whenever or however that line from health to illness is crossed, we enter this realm of soul. Illness is both soul shaking and soul evoking for the patient and for all others to whom the patient matters. We lose an innocence, we know vulnerability, we are no longer who we were before this event, and we will never be the same. We are in uncharted terrain, and there is no turning back. Illness is a profound soul event, and yet this is virtually ignored and unaddressed. Instead, everything seems to be focused on the part of the body that is sick, damaged, failing, or out of control.”
-Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, Close to the Bone

“Just as you ought not to attempt to cure eyes without head or head without body, so you should not treat body without soul.”

-Socrates, approximately 500 BC

What is soul?

Soul is each person’s unique essence and being.
Soul is our true self.
Soul is individual.
Soul is the cohesive force embodied through the unity of each person’s total self with full integration of an interconnected body, heart, and mind.
Expressions of the soul include purpose and meaning in each individual’s life.
People connect with and integrate their soul to varying degrees.

What is spirit? What is the relationship between spirit and soul?

Spirit is an essence that comes from and is the divine.
Spirit is our true nature.
Spirit is universal.
The ways in which people experience, embody, and express spirit are individual.
Spirit and the body must be one for soul to be present.
Universal spirit moves soul through spiritual guidance.

What is soul pain?

Soul pain is the experience within an individual of disconnect and alienation from the deepest and most fundamental aspects of self.

What is the relationship between cancer and the soul?

Illnesses such as cancer can open a soulful conversation about life, death, purpose, meaning, and other core components of the human experience. Some people view illness, including challenges such as cancer, as opportunities for soul growth.

Dealing with cancer is a vehicle for the soul’s evolution. The disease experience opens gateways into the soul. Illness is an invitation to look deeply into self, cultivate new levels of knowledge, and understanding about who you are.

“We go to doctors and to hospitals with the expectation that they will take care of our bodies. That the soul might also be engaged is not our expectation. Yet, a life-threatening illness calls to the soul, taps into spiritual resources, and can be an initiation into the soul realm for the patient and for anyone else who is touched by the mystery that accompanies the possibility of death. When life is lived at the edge—in the border realm between life and death—it is a liminal time and place.

Liminal comes from the Latin word for ‘threshold.’…  SO Whenever we participate in something that will change us, and change how others relate to us… that experience is a liminal one. Whenever we are initiated into knowing something we did not know before  on a body level… we cross a threshold. Here the mystical, spiritual, or psychic awareness  of what is happening, however, determines its significance as a soul experience.  So it is with a life-threatening illness, which similarly happens in and to the body and yet can profoundly affect the soul.”
-Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, Close to the Bone

Through the cancer journey, you can learn further connection and embodiment of soul and spirit guiding you through life. Soul and spirit provide guidance through your intuition. You have answers within.

 What are some soul questions?

Soul questions help people journey into their deeper self for reflections and information. In Close to the Bone, Dr. Bolen proposes the following questions. Some of them apply to all individual lives and others are specific to people dealing with illness.

  • What did you come to do?
  • What did you come to learn?
  • What did you come to heal?
  • What and who did you come to love?
  • What are you here for?
  • When you die, how will your life have been worthwhile?
  • What do you regret doing or not having done?
  • What do you still want time for?
  • In what ways do you matter?
  • What people in your life deeply matter to you?
  • What do you perceive about God?
  • What do you perceive about an afterlife?
  • What is your unfinished business?
  • What long-buried thoughts and memories are coming back to you now?
  • What are your dreams saying?

How do people evoke a deeper communion with their soul?

Many avenues help people connect with and integrate their soul. The journey includes hearing the soul’s expression and learning how to embody it through attunement with the total self. Some paths toward deeper soul expression include the following.

  • Awareness of synchronicity
  • Awareness of imagery, signs, and symbols
  • Awareness of dreams
  • Exploring myths and archetypes
  • Listening in the midst of a quiet mind
  • Immersion in silence and stillness
  • Deep relaxation
  • Deep breathing
  • Deep listening
  • Open, relaxed heart
  • Full integration of an interconnected body, heart, and mind
  • Movement
  • Meditation
  • Prayer
  • Listening to lyrical and other soulful types of music
  • Expression through art
  • Time in nature
  • Exploring non-linear expressions
  • Reading and writing poetry

More information about ways to evoke a deeper relationship with soul are available in our Mind section, Intuition and Instinct, and throughout the Spirit section.

Healing Power of Connection

Lynne McTaggart  is an American lecturer, journalist, author, and publisher. She has authored 6 books, including The Intention Experiment and The Field. According to her author profile, she is a spokesperson “on consciousness, the new physics, and the practices of conventional and alternative medicine.” McTaggart is also an anti-vaccinationist.

She promotes this belief in her book What Doctors Don’t Tell You and in other publications.  This has drawn significant criticism of her work and          has created controversy.

Living With Intention – Lynne McTaggart

In her autobiography McTaggart reports that after recovering from an        illness using alternative medical approaches her husband suggested she   start a newsletter on the risks of some medical practices and devised the    title: “What Doctors Don’t Tell You”.  In 1996,  McTaggart published the      book with the same name.

She and her husband set up a public company in 2001, What Doctors Don’t Tell You plc, later Conatus plc,  which published newsletters,   magazines  and  audio-tapes based on conferences and seminars including, What Doctors Don’t Tell You, PROOF!, and Living the Field.  This company was wound up in 2009.

A new company, Wddty Publishing Ltd, run by McTaggart and her husband, took over    the What Doctors Don’t Tell You website, and New Age Publishing Ltd for McTaggart’s other publishing and public-speaking activities. Publication of their monthly magazine What Doctors Don’t Tell You restarted in August 2012, in a glossy format aimed at newsagent and high-street distribution, instead of using the previous subscription model, and carrying paid advertising, something McTaggart had originally said WDDTY would not do.           https://www.biontologyarizona.com/healing-power-of-connection/

In her book The Field, McTaggart asserts that the universe is unified by an interactive field. The book has been translated into fourteen languages. In a later book, The Intention Experiment,  she discusses research in the field of human consciousness which she says supports the theory that “the universe is connected by a vast quantum energy field” and can be influenced by thought. Michael Shermer states that this belief is contradicted by conflicting evidence (e.g. studies on intercessory prayer).

McTaggart has a personal-development program called “Living The Field” which is based on an idiosyncratic interpretation of the zero point field as applied to quantum mechanics. She appears in the extended version of the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?, (2004).

Cancer  largely characterized it as a deficiency disease— a slow-motion starving of vital nutrients resulting from the wholesale industrialization of food —or disease of toxicity — a poisoning from our chronic exposure to some 20,000 chemicals present in  our air, food, water and homes.

Clearly, these elements play an important supporting role. But perhaps not the leading one.

Spontaneous disappearance
They do not, for instance, explain spontaneous remission — how a giant mass can be    there one day and virtually melt away the next.  A small body of research concerns terminal cancer patients who, with little or no medical intervention, end up beating          the odds.

Although medicine likes to pretend that these cases are rare, one in eight skin cancers spontaneously heals, as does nearly one in five genitourinary cancers.

Virtually all types of illnesses, from those where organs have supposedly packed up, as      in diabetes or Addison’s disease, to those where a body part is supposedly irretrievably damaged, as in atherosclerosis, have healed on their own.

Rather than calling these cases what they are — the body’s ability to self-correct — medicine refers to them as ‘spontaneous remission’, as though the illness has simply decided to go into hiding, but might still suddenly spring out at you again at any moment.

We all marvel at cases of spontaneous remission because even the most enlightened among us subscribe to the body-as-machine paradigm. Under this model, what is broken stays broken, until a seasoned mechanic comes along with the right monkey wrench or spare part.

Clearly, what’s going on there is something more complex than eating your greens and throwing away your toxic cleaning products.  The sheer volume of cases of spontaneous remission shows that self-repair and renewal is natural to the human body.

Losing the plot
Lately, I’ve been sifting through these studies, looking for the common thread. What these cases collectively say about cancer is highly instructive. In case after case, they describe people up against a major roadblock in their lives: an unremitting stress; an unresolved trauma; a prolonged hostility; a marked isolation; a profound dissatisfaction; a quiet despair.

They describe people who are boxed in a corner with no apparent way out, people who have lost not only the plot but also their role as the central protagonist of their own life drama. They are people who, in short, hurt deeply in their very souls.

Those people who beat their cancer, whose survival remains unexplained, are those same individuals who find a way out of the corner. They get rid of the source of the psychological heartache: they divorce the abusive husband; they resolve the problem with their mother or daughter; they take full responsibility for their illness.

But, most important of all, they find the lost meaning in their lives.

Most cases of spontaneous remission seem to take place after the patient has made              a major psychological shift to recreate a life that is engaging and purposeful. They          play the piano or go trekking in Tibet, if that’s what they always meant to do before       they got derailed in their lives. They find a path back to their joie de vivre.

The power of thoughts
Most people, this would suggest, get ill because they’ve lost all hope of life ever being good.  And this suggests that they have cancer because of their thoughts — the thoughts they think about themselves and their lives.

For many years, I’ve studied evidence of how profoundly and quickly the brain alters         its function and even its physical structure from mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness meditation is more than just relaxation. It creates a profound change in your worldview: an acceptance of ‘what is’ in the current moment without a judgemental overlay.

The research on mindfulness suggests that our physicality is like Play-Doh, to be molded from our conscious thoughts. Form follows function. If the brain can be physically revised throughout life just by thinking better thoughts, so too can the rest of the body.

Indeed, the dynamic plasticity of the body — its ability to go from ill to well overnight — demonstrates how deeply it is a maidservant of consciousness.

Much has been written about the so-called ‘cancer personality’. For me, the real question is getting to the heart of the cancer in your soul. 👌💯

Vegan Bunny

I’ve been studying nutrition and chronic and metabolic disease for approximately 5 years, after the death of a beloved family member.  I had an insatiable thirst for knowledge,  and was particularly drawn towards cancer and the correlation to diet after my father went through,  and survived,  cancer.  It goes without saying, that though, knowledge should be spread with caution — it should equally be consumed with that same caution and followed up by self-research and experience.

This Blog Written By : the Vegan Bunny Bridgette Holder

Otto Warburg has been a revolutionary in the understanding of cancer. ₁ He researched the respiratory and metabolic mechanism of both healthy cells and cancer cells; and as a result of this research he discovered lower oxygen levels were characteristic of cancer cells. In lieu of utilizing oxygen, the cancer cells switch to a more primitive form of respiration by fermenting sugars. He described it as follows: “[cancer cells] live in hypoxic, very low oxygen, and acidic conditions and derive energy from sugars by fermenting them the way yeast does.”

₂Through my research, I’ve found this phenomenon can be reiterated if you’ve ever researched or undergone a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) — this scan requires       a tracer, typically radioactive glucose, and whichever area of a cancer patient’s body the tracer is drawn towards informs the oncologist where your cancer can be found.

This reinstates Warburg’s theory, as cancer cells have up to 15 x the glucose uptake             in comparison to a normal, healthy cells.

Patrick Quillin, PHD, RD, CNS, former director of nutrition for Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK: “It puzzles me why the simple concept ‘sugar feeds cancer’ can be so dramatically overlooked as part of a comprehensive cancer treatment plan”

Because of this, whenever I am sharing what I’ve learned with others — both cancer patients and healthy people alike — the information I feel most vital to share is to rid  sugar from the cancer patient’s diet. It provides the cancer cells with the fuel they need     to proliferate, for metastization (or secondary growth and spreading to other areas of      the body and organs) to begin; and it ultimately leads to a sluggish immune system as    any secondary illnesses like most microbes, most bacterial infections, candida, etc. are fueled in much the same way: sugar.

This is the time you rely on your own immunity and fighter cells more than ever, to hone in to the malignancies in your body, not off to waste energy on secondary infections that also benefit and can weaken/starve by nixing sugar from your diet.

The kind of sugar particularly to blame is the refined sugars, the high fructose corn syrups: that which offers zero nutritional value or fiber to allow slow, gentle digestion. The sugars that cause substantial blood sugar fluctuations. These should be avoided at all cost, if you are suffering from cancer. Starving the cancer cells and weakening them will make your other lines of defense and therapies all the more potent. Fresh and cooked vegetables, complex carbohydrates in exchange of simple carbohydrates, fruits and more will fuel the healthy cells in your body.

Sugar is broken down incredibly fast — during the process of glycogenesis — metabolized by the liver, in both the form of a simple carbohydrate and a fat, then it is subsequently stored as a fat. We know complex carbohydrates breakdown much slower: allowing for “slow-release” energy throughout the day and much more sensible, steady blood sugar levels versus the spikes simple carbohydrates offer.

³”While complex carbohydrates eventually wind up as glucose, the process is a little different. Complex carbohydrates are starches found in whole-grain foods, potatoes,   pasta and many other foods. Conversion of starches begins in your mouth.

As you chew, saliva surrounds large-branched starch molecules and breaks them apart. Starches convert into maltose, a type of simple carbohydrate sugar, right in your mouth. Once maltose reaches your small intestine, enzymes convert it to glucose. At this point, glucose goes right into your bloodstream to give energy to cells. Since starch takes longer to metabolize than sugars, it has more of a time-release energy effect. Starches tend to slowly raise blood sugar, offering more sustained energy levels.” (Source: http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/metabolize-carbohydrates-4489.html )

So if you can’t have sugar, you must be wondering where you’d get energy from. The       best source of complex carbohydrates are found in legumes, vegetables, rice, and fruit. However, I always try and emphasize to go easy on the fruit, as fructose can be quite high in certain fruits — so ideally, stick to fruit with a lower levels of fructose. These would be your berries, lemons, limes, cantaloupe.

So the idea with cancer is to starve the diseased, malignant cells while providing energy and nutrients to the healthy cells.  I remember a man once saying something along the lines of: if you have cancer and eat anything that won’t heal you in some way — that isn’t beneficial in some way and fuels the cancer — each bite is one bite closer to killing you     (or further disease growth).  And I found that incredibly powerful and inspiring, to aid those with cancer to adhere to the healthiest diet they can even when it seems hard.

And if I could share one paramount nugget of information with those suffering from cancer, newly diagnosed with cancer or loved one’s of a cancer patient: as addicting as sugar is, remove sugars as though your/their well being depends upon it because it does.

Next, I’d like to touch on the respiratory nature of cancer cells.

Back to Warburg, his research also showed us cancer cells do not live in aerobic (or oxygenated) environments. They live in hypoxic, anaerobic enviorments. Coincidentally, acidity is a major contributor to oxygen depletion in the body. The more acidic the body, the more oxygen-deprived the fluid in the body’s tissues is. Vice verse with alkalinity: the higher the alkalinity, the more oxygen-rich the fluid is.

Now, the blood is remarkable at maintaining its pH, or potential hydrogen, as anything below 7.2 is lethally acidic and anything above 7.35 is overly alkaline. It is essentially impossible to alter the blood pH via diet (unless you’re doing something incredibly harmful, such as drinking copious amounts of sodium bicarbonate). So when I speak of alkalinity and acidity, I’m referring to the effects an alkaline diet has on the tissues of the body, the water in the body, etc.

⁴”Pietro Gullino, also at the National Cancer Institute, devised a test which showed        that this slow growing cancer always produced fermentation lactic acid. Silvio Fiala,          a biochemist  from the University of Southern California,  also confirmed  this slow growing cancer produced lactic acid, and that it’s oxygen respiration was reduced.

Further research into Warburg’s theory showed that when oxygen levels were turned down, cells began to produce energy anaerobically. They ultimately became cancerous when levels went low enough. It took a reduction of 35% in oxygen levels for this to happen.

And when we look at what foods become acidic, we are brought right back to added   sugars, meat is acidic, grains, dairy. These all deplete cellular oxygenation by leaving        an acidic ash in their wake, making your body more acidic.

Fruits, vegetables and some nuts and seeds are the most alkaline foods, leaving                  an alkaline residue behind.

We see cancer success stories, like that of Chris Wark or Rob Mooberry (who was    recently in the news with his success story of beating stage 4 cancer back in 2013)        where an abundance of juicing and plant-foods were consumed. Not just cooked,             but also in their rawest state as that offers more nutrients; it doesn’t alter the pH                as cooked foods can sometimes be altered; it also fuels the body with live enzymes            for optimal digestion and maximum healing potential.

Image result for alkaline food chart

Ideally, you want to strive for a diet that hits around 80-90% alkaline foods.

Between stripping up the preferred enviorment for cancer cells (acidic, oxygen-deprived); fueling the healthy cells with vegetables and fruits; also starving the cancer from its sugar-fermentation respiratory process, cancer doesn’t have much of a fighting chance alongside other therapies and treatments.

Again, if you have cancer — regardless of whether you pursue allopathic or holistic treatments, or a combination — always, always start your journey by looking at what           it is you’re putting on your plate.

Working for the Cure

resut-imageNo automatic alt text available.
My personal experience and motivation for this website is help with the toughest parts of dealing with the most challenging parts of those experience.  It was December 21st,  2005 when my father began to become gravely ill. After being pronounced cancer free 3 times in the previous 12 years then passing away April 3rd 2006;  it was December 21st, 2011 when   I began to blog  about  https://www.solitarius.org/?s=cancer+survivors
.
If you read this blog post top to bottom and research the in – between you will began to understand cancer in a whole new light……  Weak mind and spirit means weak body. From the start my Mission was to Slay The Dragon 🙁
No automatic alt text available.
Sarcoma is probably one of the worse cancers a patient can garner and when that’s combine with the fact these types are usually amongst the rarest of cancer types —             with little known about them. . . . it can become emotionally taxing.

Leiomyosarcoma and with treatments being given it can be gut wretching difficult and unresponsive with the roller coaster ride taken from the time, hope and disappointment. Although when you consider the story  From Incurable To Incredible  and this great read from Tami Boehmer mention Yvonne Cooper of Cincinnati overcoming this very incurable through the Bill Peeples Protocol and Dr Elyse Lower at UC Barrett Cancer Center or the right doctor elsewhere that can be found in forums. https://www.solitarius.org/2013/04/22/surviving-cancer/

William Peeples began his research into this subject late 1996, when his wife, Vera,        was diagnosed with endometrial stromal sarcoma, stage IVa upon presentation. In early December, 1996,  she was also scheduled for a total abdominal hysterectomy including removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes, an omentectomy and pelvic sidewall reduction.

After completion of surgical staging, the surgeon closed the incision and stated that her cancer was inoperable. He further stated that chemotherapy and radiation would be ineffective. Vera was sent home with Bill to get her affairs in order.

Somehow, the Peeples family got through what they thought might be their last Christmas together. Bill had already lost several close family members to cancer and was now faced with the potential loss of his beloved wife.

In January 1997, Bill and his wife went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for a second opinion. After three days of examinations they were again told that she had a rare and aggressive tumor that was not responsive to chemotherapy or radiation. Essentially, she still had no options. Bill and Vera went home.

Bill then began his all-out search for something that might help his wife. In his profession as a firefighter, he works the standard shifts, 24 hours on, 48 hours off. This schedule gave him the time he needed to pursue his research and fortunately the internet was in full swing.

Centering his research on the internet, he soon discovered angiogenesis and the potential it has for shrinking tumors. He immediately began giving Vera high doses of low potency angiogenesis inhibitors that could be purchased over the counter.

Also during this time, Vera began taking Megace, a prescription drug, in an attempt to slow down the tumor which was estrogen receptive. Megace is a synthetic derivation of progesterone which helps to lower estrogen.

On March 28, 1997, Bill and Vera went back to the oncology unit at the University of Miami’s Sylvester Cancer Treatment Center for a new CAT scan. At that time, the doctors found only scar tissue. Vera remains alive and healthy today.

Bill Peeples however, didn’t stop once his wife was safe. He continued his research over the next two years, and gradually formed the full picture of this combination cancer protocol.

Although Bill Peeples protocol may have helped Yvonne Cooper of Cincinnati and         Bill’s wife Vera it may not be for everyone.

For Jeannie Ross It was November of 2008 when she was diagnosed with Uterine Leiomyosarcoma. Her lab report said it was Stage II/III with a mitotic count of 100   in a 10X magnification field.

The sky high mitotic count definitely downgraded my prognosis. Typically      a mitotic count of 1-2 is low and 9-10 is high. My score of 100 indicated that the cancer had been multiplying rapidly. I was told I’d have a 50% chance to live 2 years, and a 27% chance to live 5 years. That’s when I immediately embarked on a total change of lifestyle, one that would nourish my physical body    and create a pervasive sense of relaxation and well-being.

If I was going to ask my immune system  to prevent this cancer from returning, I had to do my part by adopting the best practices to optimize my own body’s healing ability.

In 2008, when I was also diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma. I was told that I had a 50% chance of living two years, and a 20% chance of living  five years. That’s enough to scare anybody! Well, it has been almost six years now, and I am completely healthy with absolutely no recurrence of the disease.
My doctor says, “Remarkable! You’re remarkable! You give me hope. Keep doing what you are doing.” Part of my healing protocol has been to do guided imagery and meditation every single day. I knew from the start that my mind was the battlefront, because every part of our being, including our cells, sympathizes or responds to the positive and negative states of our minds. For this reason, when we are diagnosed with cancer, we must find a way to alleviate mental and emotional stress in order to allow our mind to be free to instruct the body to heal itself.

Stress produces hormones that can sabotage your entire healing program by interfering with the function of your natural killer cells, the ones that identify cancer cells and mark them for destruction. Your body chemistry reacts dramatically to your thoughts and your emotions. You may experience trouble sleeping, feel sick to your stomach, have difficulty thinking clearly, and suffer debilitating fatigue. Many health problems, especially cancer, do not permanently clear up unless the mental aspect is also addressed. The mind-body connection is powerful, and just as surely as your mind can make your body sick, it can make your body well.

My number one goal each day is to stay peaceful and calm inside, like it feels when you’ve just had a massage, or upon awakening from a deep and peaceful sleep. Guided imagery, affirmations and meditation help me to do this, along with walks in nature, acupuncture and deep breathing. My second job is to focus on the physiological and biochemical needs of my body – my nutrition, my supplements, my juicing, my exercise… and so much more. Since my diagnosis my body demands that I put my physical and emotional health first, and I don’t feel guilty about doing it. You will need to decide that your health is more important than anything else and that your full-time job is taking care of you. At first,    this is all I want you to do.

Your mind can aid in making your body well, but you will need to be actively involved in the process. I recommend that you take time off from your job for at least one year after surgery. I waited two years before resuming part-time work. Right now your full-time job is to make yourself well.   Weak mind and spirit means weak body.

You will begin a rigorous program of mind-body training, detoxification, and exercise. Time will be needed to shop for organic foods, juice vegetables, and prepare nutritious raw, vegan meals. My husband and my mother both remind me that my job is to focus on wellness, and everything else must be subservient to that goal.

Your body listens and responds to your subconscious thoughts, so it is not enough just to verbalize that you are going to become well – you must believe it in your core, in your spirit, in your energy body, in your subconscious mind.

Right now, your mind is the battlefront. Focus on everything that is uplifting.

Realize that when you entertain negative thoughts, your are effectively using negative guided imagery on yourself!
Learn to listen to your heart – when your spirit is in balance, you will feel love, joy, peace, perseverance, gentleness, goodness, humility and self-control. When your spirit is out of balance and in distress, you will experience anger, resentment, hatred, bitterness, excessive worry, and the ultimate spiritual stronghold of cancer – fear.
I began this blog because when I was diagnosed there was NOTHING positive to read about survivors of Uterine Leiomyosarcoma. In fact, my doctor told me NOT to look it up on the internet! Since that time my blog has been reaching women all over the world, in nearly every country you can think of. I’ve also started a Facebook page where women and caregivers can comment and ask questions as well.
I realize that if you are newly diagnosed, or if you are a caregiver of a newly diagnosed patient, that sifting though all of these blog pages can be a bit overwhelming. For that reason I have decided to write a book so that you can have the information at home in your own hands to refer to again and again. I hope to have my book available in the coming months.
Remember that your body is designed to prevent cancer from multiplying. At one point, something got out of balance and your immune system failed to work properly. I know that stress played a huge role in my own cancer.  I also know that my body can change. It can be made well, nourished and strong, able to prevent the cancer from returning.
It has been five years since my diagnosis, and I have not had any recurrence of the disease. My body is preventing the cancer from returning. When I saw my doctor he said, ” Remarkable! Remarkable! Keep doing what you are doing!” I most certainly will.

The term soft-tissue sarcomas (STS) embraces more than 50 different sub-types that are often associated with poor prognosis. Only a very limited number of agents are active against STS. Doxorubicin and ifosfamide are widely accepted as the most effective compounds. However, their low response rates and poor impact on the overall survival of the patients illustrate the need for new treatment options. Among them, leiomyosarcomas are one of the most frequently occurring subtypes. In spite of the relatively high incidence of leiomyosarcomas, the overall effectiveness of the currently available systemic treatments is still poor.
The heterogeneity of its biological origin, clinical behavior and responsiveness to chemotherapy, together with the scarcity of successful clinical trials, makes the treatment of leiomyosarcoma especially challenging. In addition, the evidence-based treatment for leiomyosarcoma comes from trials in which, in the majority of cases, no distinctions have been made among the different STS sub-types. As a result, every therapeutic decision should be made on an individual basis in collaboration with the patient. The results of new specific histology-designed clinical trials should aid decision making in this complex field. http://pubmedcentralcanada.ca/pmcc/articles/PMC4204552/
Contact Dr. Kent, Dr. Gitelis, & Dr. Abrams at Rush University Medical Center.  I was in a lot of pain for over 2 years, & finally found out in September of ’08 that I had a 12cm lms + osteo tumor in my pelvis & possible metastisis in my lungs.  I had 14 rounds of chemo + concurrent radiation & ressection of the tumor.  The chemo I did was Taxotere + Gemcitabine + Avastin and then later w/ the radiation I did Ifosfamide & Doxorubicin + more rounds of just the Ifos & Doxy post surgery.  I’m alive and doing well, and back to all the outdoor activities I used to enjoy.  The staff at Rush is amazing.   https://cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,10634,2.htm
Hi! Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the woman who plays bingo has the lms that started in her uterus? I had had fibroid tumors a few years back, and the cancer started at that sight.  There seems to be a connection being discovered that a small percentage of women with fibroids will develop this.  Do you know what kind of treatment she got that’s kept her alive for 6-7 years?  I’ve taken a break from the chemo for a couple of months and my oncologist has me taking Femara, an estrogen inhibitor, and this coming week I’m starting on Avastin. I guess they’re having good results with this, and I also have a lot of fluid build-up in my abdomen that this is supposed to help with also.  In addition, I’ve been taking complementary things to help.  These are all natural, well-proven things, but the FDA doesn’t want us to know about them!  I take Paw Paw Cell-Reg, Maitake Gold Compound, Liquid Zeolite, and I’m going to start taking another mushroom extract, Coriolus Versicolor. These are all things that have been used for a long time in other countries and are gaining in this country as people find out about them. In 4 months of chemo I’ve been able to get rid of tumors in my lung, breast, liver, and abdomen.  All I have left is a little bit in my uterus and in my spine.  I’m determined to beat this, in spite of “statistics”!  Statistics are based only on use of chemo!  I hope this helps, and I’ll be looking forward to hearing more about the survivor you know!  I’ll pray for your mom, too.  Karen 🙂
For Karen and others, there is a very powerful nutritional supplement named Biobran which is considered at the moment one of the best choice for cancer patients. It’s made from breaking down rice bran with enzymes from the Shitake mushroom, and it has been shown that Biobran MGN-3 can stimulate sluggish NK cell activity by as much as 300% or more. Read also about Pau d’Arco tea, Reishi, Cordiolus, Curcumin and Cordiceps. These mushrooms have powerful anticancer properties. Best wishes for all of you. https://cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,10634,0.htm

Background: a sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops from certain tissues such as bone or muscle. Bone and soft tissue sarcomas are the main kinds. Soft tissue can develop from tissues like muscle, nerves, fat, and blood vessels. They can be found in any area of the body, but most develop in the arms or legs. Sarcomas are not common tumors, most are the type of tumors called carcinomas. Not all sarcomas are cancerous; the term sarcoma means the tumor is malignant. There are more than fifty different types of sarcoma, including but not limited to; adult fibrosarcoma, clear cell sarcoma, epithelioid sarcoma, kaposi sarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, malignant mesenchymoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma.
(source: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/soft-tissue-sarcoma/about/soft-tissue-sarcoma.html)

Synovial sarcoma: it is one of the rarer forms, and can occur at any age but is more common among teenagers and young adults. Despite the name it is not related to the synovial tissues that are part of the joints. It is unknown whether this mutation occurs randomly or following a specific chain of events. The primary treatment for synovial sarcoma is surgery to remove the entire tumor with clear margins whenever possible.

This happens when healthy tissue surrounding the tumor is removed along with the tumor, making it more likely that all cancer cells have been removed from the area. Depending on the location and size of the mass,  it may be difficult for a surgeon to   remove adequate margins while preserving function.  Radiotherapy or chemotherapy     may also be recommended, especially in the advanced or metastatic stages. This is on          a case by case basis, and is decided by the oncologist and the patient. The Prognosis is influenced by the quality of surgery that the patients receive and characteristics of the     disease among other things.

The Silent Evil – Cancer Food

Why Does Cancer Therapy Make Food Taste Terrible?
Industrial food preparation and processing is the silent evil causing most human health detriment known in the USA right now. Preservative and additive are nasty, cruel words that translate into cancer for humans. Watch out for sucralose and sorbitol, both are artificial sweeteners used to keep products soft longer and as emulsifiers.
.
They cause IBS and cancer as side effects! Also watch out for BHT and BHA, as well Big Food industry slogans like “For added freshness” and “As a preservative” — which mean your cells will be choking. Don’t choke your cells. Don’t eat cancer and it won’t eat you. Food “preservativescan completely shut down your mitochondria, invoking DNA cellular damage in this lifetime, contrary to what science believed for nearly a century.
 .
Sodium benzoate combined with vitamin C or E can cause benzene to form.  You see, although sodium benzoate occurs naturally in cranberries, apples and cloves, that’s only about 40 mg/kg. Used as a preservative though, you’re getting around 2,000 mg/kg. That’s a whole other research paper on cancer.

Why Does Cancer Therapy Make Food Taste Terrible?

Lemon drops will help your taste buds. The best Lemon Fruit Hard Sour Candy,          packed in a bag.     A hard, sour candy with an extra shot of lemon in the center. Besides being a great tasting hard candy, pharmaceutical companies, doctor offices, and most importantly chemotherapy patients have found that when “Lemon Sours” are given to patients receiving chemotherapy treatment, patients see a reduction in the dryness of   the throat region and relief from the soreness.

WILL chemotherapy attack food preservatives forcing these chemicals to attack             taste buds while the brain associates nausea with eating.

People who go through chemotherapy say one of the most frustrating side effects is that even their favorite foods taste awful. Pasta tastes like cardboard and meat tastes metallic. Patients have no desire to eat and end up getting fewer calories and less nutrition  when they need it most—to battle the cancer as well as the ravages of the therapy.

Why does chemotherapy ruin food’s appeal? Does radiation therapy, often involved, make matters worse? Scientific American asked Beverly Cowart, director of clinical research at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, to explain the mechanisms as well as strategies patients can use to make food more desirable.

[Twelve nutrition tips for chemotherapy patients.]

Chemotherapy is supposed to work by killing cancer cells. How might that affect taste?
Cancer cells proliferate rapidly, and most chemotherapies target rapidly growing cells. Taste cells turn over rapidly, too; stem cells in the base of a taste bud regularly replenish the taste cells. So the chemicals attack the taste cells as well. They either attach to a cell or enter it, then destroy it. As many cells die, taste disappears.

What about bad tastes, such as metallic or bitter sensations, instead of a lack of taste?
Like most medications the chemicals enter the bloodstream and they get into saliva that way. The saliva brings them to the taste cells and the cells send messages of “metallic” or “bitter” to neurons that lead to the brain. It’s strange to think of it this way but we can “taste” things in the bloodstream. For example, researchers in Japan injected saccharin into people’s bloodstreams and the people quickly tasted it.

Patients often complain of nausea. That also makes food less appetizing.
Right. Your body is programmed to tie nausea to something you ate. If you eat a specific food and get sick, you will find it hard to eat that food again. Cancer patients who feel nauseous become conditioned to avoid all kinds of foods they may be eating.

What about radiation?
If radiation is being used near the mouth area, such as for oral cancer, it can have an effect. Radiation elsewhere in the body does not. In these cases, even though the radiation is highly targeted, it’s still impossible to avoid hitting salivary glands. The glands get knocked out, and the patient gets chronic dry mouth. For us to taste something, it has to go into solution so it can enter a taste bud’s taste pore; saliva is there to dissolve food into solution. Without saliva, it is hard to taste anything.

Does chemotherapy also affect smell, which is central to taste?
The smell system’s receptors also interact with chemicals in the bloodstream, but the cells turn over more slowly than taste cells, so the chemicals might not attack them as much. They regenerate from stem cells, too, but that takes longer and it’s more complicated, because smell cells are actually the ends of neurons, signaling the brain directly. When they regrow they have to mature and they also have to connect to the brain. Overall, smell cells get involved but they seem to be less affected than taste cells.

What are common, good tactics patients can use to help make food more appealing?
Because nausea makes you associate sickness with specific foods, don’t eat the things you regularly eat before a chemotherapy treatment. Eat so-called scapegoat foods—unusual or unusually flavored foods you wouldn’t be likely to eat otherwise. You may end up hating them, but it won’t matter for your other meals.

If the problem is diminished taste, rely on liquid nutrients to create solution that penetrates the taste pores—especially if you have dry mouth.

In general, eat slowly and chew a lot, to give food more of a chance to enter the few healthy taste buds that are there. Sour flavors tend to come through more readily, so things like lemon can be used to enhance flavor. To enhance smell, jack up the volatile compounds—herbal ingredients and liquid spices.

Does taste return to patients after treatment is done?
With chemotherapy, once the drugs clear from the body the taste system usually returns over time. Recovery from radiation can take longer, even a few months, but there can also be some permanent damage to the salivary glands. Patients sometimes use artificial salivas to help themselves.

She said friends have commented on how well she looks even though she is undergoing chemotherapy. She puts her healthy appearance down to her switch in diet

Natasha Grindley, 37, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in July 2014

  • She was told she had 2 weeks to live and began chemotherapy immediately
  • Alongside chemo she changed her lifestyle, swapping junk food for juices
  • Is alive more than 18 months later and credits survival on her healthy diet

A mother-of-two told she had just two weeks to live claims swapping fatty foods for fresh juices is helping her to fight cancer.

Natasha Grindley, 37, from Liverpool, was given the devastating news she would not live out the month in July 2014, after doctors discovered she had stomach cancer.

She began a course of chemotherapy at Clatterbridge Private Clinic in the Wirral, Merseyside, immediately.

Alongside this treatment, the nursery teacher decided decided to make finding alternative therapies her ‘obsession’ and gave up eating fatty and sugary foods for a nutritious diet.

Within weeks her cancer had reduced in size, a change she credits to her lifestyle changes.

However, experts warn there is no evidence a healthy diet, exercise and alternative therapies will cure cancer alone- chemotherapy is needed too.

Mrs Grindley said: ‘I was utterly devastated when doctors told me I had two weeks to live.

‘It all happened quite quickly and they put a camera down and I could see that it was my stomach and had spread to my lymph nodes, my neck and all of my abdomen really.

‘It was a very, very dark time for a while and me and my husband started reading constantly to find alternative therapies.

‘They didn’t know that it was stomach cancer at the time and I don’t think that they could have told me because I would have been too heartbroken to hear it.’

The clean-eating change was triggered by a friendship with author Deliciously Ella, whom Mrs Grindley still asks for nutritional advice.

Since then, Mrs Grindley, married to bricklayer Ian, 33,    and mother to Gabriella, six, and Liam, five, has launched her own Facebook page, Heal for Real, having racked up almost 19,000 likes.

The page features her own health tips and recipes which  she is hoping to collate into a book, as well as motivational quotes and pictures.

Her dedication has also seen her complete a diploma in nutrition as she continues to defy doctors’ predictions more than 18 months on from the initial heartbreaking news.

She said: ‘When I started changing my diet, I looked better than I had done for years, even though I was obviously very ill.

‘I was going through,  still am, undergoing chemotherapy treatment every three weeks but people were saying to me “you don’t look ill” and I put it down to the changes I made in my diet.

‘Reading about alternative therapies and finding new nutritious food became my obsession.

‘And, when I started cutting out the likes of meats and alcohol, things started picking up about six months later.

She continued: ‘I used the foods to power up my immune system and that helps me because my blood is then ready for chemo.

‘I noticed that every time I made a change to my diet,             I saw a positive difference in how I felt.’

CAN A HEALTHY DIET, EXERCISE AND ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES CURE CANCER?

Consultant oncologist Professor Karol Sikora said there       is no evidence a healthy diet, exercise and alternative therapies will cure cancer.

However, he added treatment is the patient’s own choice and doctors must respect that.

He told MailOnline: ‘The patient is always in the driving seat; their treatment is up to them.

‘There’s no evidence that diet alone will help without the chemotherapy.

Scott Hamilton Reveals 3rd Brain Tumor Has Shrunk Without Treatment:  ‘I Was the Recipient of a Spectacular Miracle.’
 .
My main gain at the time was to learn about chemotherapy and how to reduce the        harsh side effects. Then I learned about Scott Hamilton and all that he has done to help      others through helping himself.  🙂
.

Scott Hamilton is counting his blessings.

After being diagnosed with his third brain tumor last summer, the Olympic figure skater learned at a February check-up that the growth — a benign pituitary tumor — has shrunk in size without treatment. Hamilton will open up about his health crises — and enduring determination.

“The nature of them is to grow, and without treatment, they have no reason to shrink,” Hamilton, 58, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “So I was the recipient of a spectacular miracle.  I’m keeping an eye on it,  and there’s no treatment needed at this time.”

The gold medalist previously beat testicular cancer in 1997 and two similar benign   tumors in 2004 and 2010 before he was diagnosed with his latest in August 2016.

After the latest health discovery, Hamilton made some changes in his life — and          found solace in his Christian faith.

“I kind of heard a little voice when I first got the news, to get strong, so I decided to do that,” he says. “And it was about that same time that I realized things like cancer loves to feed on sugar, and I go, ‘I don’t really want to do anything to give it anything it wants.’

So I just decided to give up sugar. That was the end of August, and I went back at the end of November,  and they scanned it again,  and it hadn’t grown at all.  So I stayed with the program, eliminated all the unhealthy stuff — have been getting strong — and have been pouring myself into the word,  and I really tried to draw as close to the Lord as possible.     I went back Feb. 10, I checked in, got my MRI done, and it actually shrunk.”

Hamilton — who with wife Tracie, 46, has four children: Jean Paul, 15, Aidan, 13, Evelyne, 13, and Maxx, 8 — says that the positive prognosis. . . .has only inspired him to make even more of a difference with his Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, which raises money and awareness to fight cancer.

“When something like this happens, it’s unbelievable. It would be like somebody…with  any form of cancer or illness, it all of a sudden goes away?  What?  Without treatment? That’s crazy,”  says Hamilton,  who also drinks a lot of water,  added supplements and essential oils to his diet. “It was quite miraculous what happened.  I never anticipated    that at all.”

As for why the tumor has decreased in size, doctors said there is no medical explanation.

“The doctors basically said, ‘Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it,’ ”  Hamilton says.      “And it was very funny, the surgeon that I would use if I were to take it out,  I go, ‘Can you explain this?’ He just smiled and looked at me and goes, ‘God.’ That’s it. Whoa. I was just a blubbering mess, like, ‘I’m not worthy of this.’ There’s so many other people out there who could benefit from this miracle.”

Of course, one of the things Hamilton enjoys most is skating, and he actually credits        his tumors with allowing him to rediscover his love of the sport.

“This brain tumor has given me a lot more than it has taken away,” he insists. “This is a brain tumor I was born with. Without it I wouldn’t have been in and out of hospitals for four years. Without this my parents wouldn’t have been so exhausted that they needed     to give me a morning off, and the morning off they chose was a skating rink. There are     no accidents.”

And Hamilton said it “would be great” if he can skate through his treatments.

Like when he skates better than he ever has in the 1994 Gold Championships to                the song  “Walk This Way.”

“When I learned of this diagnosis, two things came to my mind. I have to draw closer to God and I have to get physically strong,” Hamilton notes. “And I have been doing both.”

Outside of his family,  Hamilton has been touching  the hearts of thousands through motivational speaking engagements and his Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, which raises funds for cancer research and provides support and resources to cancer patients.

“The Cares Foundation started out here in Cleveland as a Cares Initiative. What I wanted to do was thank the Cleveland clinic for giving me my life back,” Hamilton explains. “But I knew that there were gaping holes in the cancer community. I went online to find out what I needed to know about testicular cancer and all I found were medical journal papers with 12-syllable words, five to a sentence … So we created ChemoCare.com, which is everything you need to know about chemo therapy in 8th grade English and Spanish. Every drug is listed. Every side effect is listed.  It’s an amazing accomplishment. Also Its sister side is RadCare.org, which is everything about radiation therapy.”

Lucy and Sharon are so honored to have had the opportunity to interview   one of the most decorated  and well loved athletes of all times.  During this interview, Scott Hamilton’s warm and passionate personality shines through. He spoke about frustrations he experienced before and during his treatment for testicular cancer in 2007 as Scott searched for helpful information about cancer treatment.

These frustrations combined with his champion’s heart birthed projects     that benefit those who are walking the same path after him.  Scott is now a leader in providing information to cancer patients which also can be easily understood and practical. He also founded 4th Angel, http://4thangel.org/   an organization aimed at providing personal mentorship to those facing a fresh diagnosis of cancer.

Scott Hamilton inspires as he talks about his optimistic outlook on life, including          the awakening that came with his cancer diagnosis and how nothing positive will come     of negativity!!! He sits down with TODAY’s Matt Lauer for a candid conversation about  his health and his new streaming docuseries, “Scott Hamilton Today.”

Retracing The Steps Taken

No automatic alt text available.

Within this blog post:  I am retracing my steps since I began researching cancer in 2006.  In early January,  my fathers health was tumbling from his experiences with chemo in 2005. His weight was at a lost “with full blown cachexia.” Being that I had severe depression being treated with Lexapro. When a neighbor came over with a letter he received about research out of University of Texas and aloe vera and cancer. Made me wonder if this would be true what else is out there that might help a cancer patient.

Lets begin from the start and for me that was March 2006 while attending a mass at the shrine in Carey Ohio I prayed the rosary and a week later started to meet people. First person being Mant Prowg a Chinamen from Kettering OHIO.  With Mant being  a cancer survivor from China moved here and soon realized the culture shock he was experiencing. He couldn’t believe the food people ate here on a regular basis in China we teach are grade schoolers better than that?

.

Some of what he spoke highly of was not so much herbs for cancer. . . .but vitamins and minerals from food source,  beta carotene from the carrot  and beta glucans in medicinal mushrooms. Herbs he mention were  burdock and red clover telling me that combination can be affective for clearing out the blood. Milk Thistle keeps cancer at bay and out of the liver of cancer patients and not to forget calcium & omega 3s for healthy cells. He thought fenugreek was great to help with sugar balance.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaNSTTFoERs&feature=youtu.be

If I only knew back then :  There are six studies in recent years showing that cancer patients  with the highest blood glucose levels survive least. And also in Jan 2014 (Cancer Watch) with a study showing that glucose causes cancer. Johns Hopkins Medical showed restricting glucose helped colorectal cancer survival. Diet and exercise were the two complementary therapies that the 2012 American Cancer Society report, that was covered in Cancer Watch, concluding could increase the survival and even prevent a cancer returning.

Weight loss can also be overcome through a healthy diet – you can always eat quality protein,  good fats  (fish oils, Extra Virgin olive oil, coconut oil and flaxseed) and raw vegetables that contain good calorie levels; you don´t have to eat chocolate cake and  sticky buns.

Cachexia means people actually die from the drugs they take. That is the fact that really has to be solved. Loading cows´ dairy (with growth hormone) and glucose into the body, merely feeds the cancer your oncologist is trying to eradicate.  Fact is that:  That there are several research studies covered in CANCERactive showing. . . .taking a daily fish oil reduces cachexia risks.

There is almost vehemance against Hydrazine Sulphate from the orthodox medical community, yet anecdotes abound that it can do a job.

Here is one:  In 1987,  Erna Kamen,  a sixty-three-year-old lung cancer patient,  was administered hydrazine sulfate after her discharge. . . from a Sarasota, Florida, hospital. “Basically, my mother was sent home to die,” says Jeff Kamen, who is an Emmy-winning television reporter. “She´d lost a significant amount of weight by then, and she had no appetite and virtually no will to do anything.”

A doctor had told Jeff´s father, Ira Kamen, that hydrazine sulfate offered at least “a shot in the dark.”  So one Monday in August 1987,  a home nurse gave Mrs. Kamen one hydrazine sulfate pill shortly before serving lunch.  “On Tuesday morning,”  recalls Jeff,  “there was a commotion in the house.  My mother had risen from her bed  like the phoenix rising from the ashes.  She was demanding that the nurse bring her downstairs  so that she could have breakfast with me. When people you love get into this kind of facedown with death, you´re just incredibly grateful for each moment.”   https://www.canceractive.com/cancer-active-page-link.aspx?n=456

(Excerpted from Options: The Alternative Cancer Therapy Book ISBN: 0895295105)

My interest in natural medicine started in January 2006 in that single instant. In worse case scenario my father being stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma a cancer type that lingers until it becomes dragon like with its intent to kill you. My father was fully committed to saving his life with the only thing he knew that could in the end.  From January until he passed away on April 3 2006. He drank an ounce of Aloe Vera three times daily. In that time we noticed and 8 cm shrinkage of that tumor. . . . which was extrusive  and easily visible on his breast bone  with 4 – 1 inched legs growing threw the muscles in that area.

 .

How do I know this fact:  when the mortician of the funeral home he was to be shown at was preparing  the body for the viewing.   He asked me “if ” he could resurrect the tumor from the corpse so my father. . .could finally be freed from the tumor at last.   The agreement was “yes,”  if  I could hold the tumor and if he would slice into that tumor and tell me the color of the tissue and cells inside.   Which he at the time came back and told me the color was gray. Meaning that the tumor was in apoptosis (pink means its fully alive and involved.) Which many in the medical profession will tell yon not so they have seen tumors in all colors?

 .

I was computer illiterate at that time as my nephews and nieces began to show me how  to use a computer. Then from that the internet as I began researching about aloe vera and cancer. With my initial findings being Father Romano Zago out of Brazil and his cancer protocol.  With The Aloe Arborescens Protocol for cancer treatment having been around for many years.  It was nothing new and has also been proven to be effective in advanced cancer patients.  The protocol began in Brazil, then it traveled to Europe and is finally in America.

The protocol is designed to supercharge the immune system quickly. But no matter how it works on cancer, it safely gets rid of cancer cells and floods the body with super-nutrients.

Several books have been written on the protocol, each differing slightly from the other. A Catholic priest, Father Romano Zago, OFM, developed the official protocol and wrote the book on the history of the cure and details of its use. This book is called: Cancer Can Be Cured! The book has a long list of impressive case studies for different kinds of cancer.

Father Romano Zago also lists many nutrients in the plant and demonstrates that it is highly non-toxic. It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to overdose on this product.

Because this is a pure plant product (with honey and a distillate) it can be added to any other alternative cancer treatment. This protocol is rated as a “Stage IV Supplemental” treatment, which means it should be supplemented to the highly potent “Stage IV” protocols.

Fortunately for those in North America and Europe, where Aloe Arborescens is not grown or cultivated, a high-quality commercial version of the product is available for purchase over the Internet.  As it took me a few years to find this bit of information of more modern day research which I can no longer find on the internet and I am glad I filed it away:

    *********************************************************************************

Dr. Lawrence G. Plaskett, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry among many other academic distinctions, also states “The action of substances in Aloe vera does activate and intensify the immune response,  and this constitutes one of the fundamental scientifically established actions of Aloe upon the body.”

It is in the boosting of the immune system’s response to antigens (foreign elements in     the body,)  Aloe vera has shown the most promise in treating cancer.  Although no one       is yet proposing that Aloe vera is a cure for cancer,  it is clear from research conducted throughout the world over the past thirty years that Aloe vera and, in particular, certain specific substances in the plant – have very dramatic and impressive anti-cancer effects. Aloe vera has been demonstrated to enhance the immune system’s response to cancer, promote the growth of new and healthy cells, and reduce the overall viral load within the body thereby revitalizing the body in its fight against the cancer.

When radiation and chemotherapy are necessary, Aloe vera helps to minimize the damage done to the body by these treatments, which also destroy healthy cells – particularly immune system cells – crucial to the body’s recovery.  The  use  of  Aloe vera enables the body to heal itself from cancer and the damage done to it by conventional treatment: the immune system is boosted, tumors shrink, metastases are reduced so the cancer does not spread, and new healthy cells begin to grow.

How can Aloe vera do all this?

An important aspect in the theory as to the cause of cancer is that the onset of the disease is due to a failure of the immune system to respond properly to the development of cancer cells in the body.  This has given rise to an area of cancer research called: immunotherapy. It is generally accepted that the human body is forced to handle the incidence of cancer on a regular basis,   and the immune system responds to the growth of cancer cells routinely. Cancerous cells develop due to a variety of pathogens which the body encounters and overcomes daily.

Varying theories which attribute the onset of cancer to abnormal radiation exposure, environmental contaminants, pollution, preservatives and chemicals in the food supply, lack of proper nutrition, stress, viruses, genetics or whatever else,  which may very well    be correct.  That is to say, there might be any number of variables that cause cancerous cells to begin to form. According to this understanding of cancer, it is when the immune system is compromised and cannot fight off the growth of abnormal cells that the cancer takes hold, and a tumor begins to form.

With Further compromise  of  the immune system  to  respond to cancer cell growth determines whether the body develops cancer or successfully eliminates the abnormal cells and remains healthy.

A brief explanation of the important parts of the immune system will make the amazing benefits of Aloe vera in the treatment of cancer more clear. White blood cells are the most crucial part of the body’s immune system. Certain chemical signals released by tissues in response to an antigen (foreign particles in the body) attract white blood cells, which respond by concentrating in the affected tissue.

Neutrophils are the first cells to respond  to an infection and they “eat” the foreign particles. The swelling associated with infections is due in part to enzymes released by neutrophils in this process. Monocytes follow up by “eating” larger particles that could   not be handled by the neutrophils as well as the neutrophils that died as a result of    having eaten the foreign particles.

The moncytes release a number of chemicals which play crucial roles in the fighting of infection, including interferon and interleukin. These chemicals stimulate lymphocytes    to continue the response to the antigen.  The white blood cells break the antigen down   into fragments,  which the lymphocytes can chemically recognize and respond to.  The  most common lymphocytes are B-cells,  which kill foreign antigens, and “helper” cells, which regulate the action of T-lymphocytes by intensifying or slowing down the “killer” cell response.

Aloe vera contains a number of chemicals that enhance the activities of all of the      immune system functions  just described.  Polypeptides  serve as immune system stimulators,  helping to control a broad spectrum of immune system diseases and disorders.  Polysaccharides increase the action of white blood cells thus increasing            the production of “killer” T-cells and interferon.

They also chemically enhance the action of the “killer” T-cells.

One of these polysaccharides, acelated mannose, has been patented as acemannen          and  is approved in Europe  to stimulate the immune systems of AIDS patients. AIDS research has shown  that Aloe vera  use can double the number of both  “killer”  and    “helper” T-cells within three weeks and at the same time reduce the P-24 core antigen.  The overall indicator of viral load in the body. Interferon and interleukin production is stimulated, attacking the cancer and viruses in the body. Lectins and emodines are two anti-tumor chemicals in Aloe vera which, along with an increase in the tumor necrosis factor brought about by Aloe vera, begin to destroy malignant cancer tumors.

Aloe Vera Juice has been proven to be effective in cancer in animals. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture approved Aloe vera in 1992 for the treatment of soft tissue cancer in animals as well as feline leukemia.

There is clear scientific evidence that, in vitro, Aloe vera will suppress cancer tumor growth, stimulate immune system response, raise tumor necrosis levels, and promote healthy tissue growth – and countless studies have been published on this subject. For     the past thirty years researchers have known that there is significant evidence that Aloe vera is highly effective in fighting cancer.  But the FDA,  and the major cancer research institutions have not conducted a single test of the efficacy of Aloe vera as a cancer treatment, nor have they even considered it as a complement to conventional therapy.       In his assessment of Aloe vera and the treatment of benign and malignant tumors.

Dr. Plaskett sums up the frustrations that many Aloe advocates feel: “It is amazing, however, that in view of all of the positive indications which exist for the anti-cancer effects of Aloe vera that no medical studies have been initiated in human cancer.”

There is clear evidence that Aloe vera is effective in the treatment of cancer in animals – and it is approved by the USDA for such use. There is clear clinical evidence that Aloe   vera is effective in boosting the immune system response in the treatment of AIDS in humans – and it is approved in Europe for such use.

There is a large amount of anecdotal evidence that Aloe vera use in humans is effective     in boosting the immune system response in the treatment of cancer — both in healing     the cancer directly and in enabling the immune system to withstand the onslaughts of radiation and chemotherapy.

However, providing this information to cancer patients, or supplying them with high quality Aloe vera concentrate is NOT approved by the government.  On the contrary, merely providing the information about cancer and the benefits of Aloe vera use can      lead to prosecution, as in the case of T-Up, Inc.

The only explanation is that the development of Aloe vera as a treatment, or adjunct           to conventional therapy, does not represent a profitable investment for the cancer industry.

The pharmaceutical industry cannot patent whole leaf Aloe vera concentrate and      without a patent there is no way to reap the immense profits that chemotherapy treatments bring.

With other group members at the time telling members what they did when they had cancer it was a mixed group of hope. However, WE did have success stories from Bea Yris and others. However, when I decided to change directions. I decided to include more research links and renewed hope of less confusion. In the new format I began to share more links about internet cancer survivors so members could blaze      a trail already taken from another.
.
One always being around in our group would Be Carl O Helvie a 45 year ling cancer survivor who is one always helpful in assisting a member of the group with information about cancer. It was through his Holistic Health Show where I suggested he interview a few people I was interested in and Carl returned a few favors with interviews he sprung on me.

Hi Ken: You may be interested in the website of my guest this week–Dr Sandra Goodman who has developed a website of research and articles over many years that includes a lot on cancer and nutrition. She also did the study on nutrition and cancer in England, Her site is: http://www.positivehealth.com/

Better Together: Laetrile, Enzymes, and Emulsified Vitamin A

The theory of vitamin A working better in combination with other therapies was demonstrated powerfully in 1978. That’s the year that Harold Manner, Ph.D. and chairman of the biology department of Chicago’s Loyola University, conducted an intriguing study of emulsified vitamin A.

Dr. Manner used a therapy that combined:
Emulsified vitamin A
Proteolytic Enzymes (molecules that act as catalysts for all chemical reactions within the body and are necessary to sustain life)
Laetrile (a powerful cancer-fighting agent found in over 1,200 plants, especially the seeds of common fruits such as apricots, peaches, plums, and apples)

Dr. Manner reported his results in his book titled Death of Cancer:

“The tumors gradually underwent complete regression in 75 of the experimental animals. This represented 89% of the total group. The remaining 9 animals showed partial regression.”

Manner repeated the experiment, trying various combinations of vitamins, enzymes, and Laetrile. Combinations of enzymes and or vitamin A with Laetrile were significantly more effective than just enzymes and/or vitamin A.

In this new text-reference, Carl Helvie explores the realm of community health care for advanced practice nurses who are currently working in community care and for anyone else who requires an understanding of the issues involved.

In Carl’s  interview on his radio show “Holistic Health Show” with Klaus Pertl (partner of Lothar Hirneise, wrote Chemo Cures Cancer and the World is Flat.)

Dr.  Lothar Hirereise is brilliant.  His understanding of cancer is superior to orthodox protocol that     simply treats the symptoms of a patient  and the patient as a guinea pig via toxic cocktails.  The mind/body connection is everything, and the only protocol that heals, meaning the patient will be alive and well 10 years from now.

In Lothar’s book he details visit’s 100 cancer centers and based their cancer center   on those experiences as well as 4 years with Dr Johanna Budwig. He says most people do not understand how to use the Budwig Diet.
.
Cottage cheese is what most people use for the Budwig Protocol. However,  Quark is a fresh cheese of European origin. It is a mild creamy cheese without the sour taste of yogurt.   It is a soft un-aged cheese and is not the same thing as cream cheese or cottage cheese. It is also distinct from ricotta. . . because ricotta is made from scalded whey.  http://www.budwig-diet.co.uk/quark-cottage-cheese/

In this interview with Carl, Klaus talks about some of those experiences.

Klaus Nigel Pertl (German-Canadian) was born in 1960 in Canada. One year later he moved to Germany where he was raised and where his formal education…

German New Medicine

 Caroline Markolin

.
.
.
.
.
Caroline Markolin received her Ph.D. in German literature from the University of Salzburg, Austria.   After she moved to Canada in 1987,      she taught German Language and Literature at Concordia University in Montreal. During her academic career she published numerous books and essays on contemporary Austrian literature. In 1998 she resigned from her academic position as tenured Associate Professor and began to pursue her strong interest in naturopathic medicine. From 1999 – 2001 she gave workshops about the benefit of nutritional supplements and herbs to naturopaths in Germany and Austria.
.
In early 2000, during a visit in Austria, she attended her first GNM lecture.  Captivated by Dr. Hamer’s scientific findings, she enthusiastically dedicated herself to the full-time study of the “New Medicine”, as it was still called then. In 2002, after extensive and diligent immersion in the available GNM research material, she met Dr. Hamer and began to study under his guidance. In recognition of the in-depth knowledge of his work, Dr. Hamer entrusted her with the English translation of the Scientific Chart of German New Medicine®, published in 2007.
It was during that time that she heard her first lecture about German New Medicine. Captivated by this new medical paradigm, which – based on sound scientific criteria – understands so-called “diseases” as age-old meaningful biological survival programs that have been successfully practiced for millions of years of evolution, she dedicated herself enthusiastically to study Dr. Hamer’s revolutionary discoveries. After one year of intense studying of the available research material, she met Dr. Hamer who has become her personal tutor and mentor. Since 2002 Caroline is an approved full-time German New Medicine teacher, who gives GNM presentations and GNM seminars in Eastern and Western Canada. http://learninggnm.com/documents/markolin.html

In recent discussions with Dr. Hamer it has come to our attention that Caroline Markolin has decided to become the voice of Dr. Hamer without his knowledge or permission. This self – imposed authority has resulted in vicious, uncalled for attacks against the owner of this web site, Ilsedora Laker. Caroline Markolin has as a result also committed an act of fraud in this process by cutting and pasting Dr. Hamer’s signature to a document she claims was written by Dr. Hamer.

This forged document is a warning to the public against Ilsedora Laker as a teacher of the GNM. This is not the first time Markolin has attacked Ilsedora Laker. Her relentless attempts to discredit Ilsedora Laker end even fraudulently using Dr. Hamer’s signature leads one to believe that Caroline Markolin is no longer in control of her better judgement. This document is visible on her web site and is labeled as “warning” as if to say she has the power to create public awareness against Ilsedora Laker.

In the recent past she has authorized first time students with little knowledge to claim that they have the expertise to teach the GNM. At the same time she has given others permission to use Dr. Hamer’s copyrighted material in their presentations. This was done without Dr. Hamer’s knowledge or permission.

The only person qualified to give permission to teach the GNM and use his copyrighted “intellectual property” on any level is Dr. Hamer.

Dr. Hamer has mentioned to us that the videos Caroline Markolin has posted on Youtube are not approved by him.

He finds them offensive to the GNM. He has also asked Caroline Markolin to remove this series of lectures from the Internet because he finds them to be a poor representation of his work. Unfortunately she has refused to comply.

The only approved presentations outlining the GNM are the presentations given by Ilsedora Laker which are now available on DVD through this web site.

Caroline Markolin claims to be the GNM “authority” equal to Dr. Hamer. Dr. Hamer has never given her any kind of authority. Caroline Markolin, according to Dr. Hamer and his seminar attendance records, has taken two weeks of seminar with him and yet she presents a “certificate of attendance” as proof of her GNM knowledge and teaching expertise as if it gave her the permission from Dr. Hamer to exclusively give lectures and seminars in the English speaking world.

Caroline Markolin does not have the body of knowledge or as Dr. Hamer says “a single day of clinical experience”  to be able to call herself  an expert in the GNM.  It is for this reason. . .that we at this website,   which was originally established in 2001 by request of Dr. Hamer, have been asked to make this statement. Dr. Hamer recently mentioned to Ilsedora Laker that Caroline Markolin led him to believe that she was a PhD of biology when in fact her subject is German Literature.  She does not have an official science background.

Dr. Hamer has established the University of Sandefjord in order to officially teach the GNM at a certification level. The curriculum is in progress and until it is fully established, those teaching the GNM require his express permission to do so. Ilsedora Laker, at this time, is the only person in the English speaking world that has his permission to teach the GNM. Dr. Douglas Price teaches the GNM under Ilsedora Laker’s guidance and supervision by permission of Dr. Hamer.

ON THE NATURE OF DISEASE

To be able to teach the principles of the GNM on an effective level takes a considerable amount of knowledge, experience and expertise.      http://www.newmedicine.ca/statement.php

There are many people in the English speaking world, European and Spanish community that claim to have this expertise and offer certification in GNM as both teachers and therapist’s, however they have no training and are not authorized by Dr. Hamer to do so. Caroline Markolin is one of those people

It is important for the general public to know that Caroline Markolin has NOT had direct communication with Dr. Hamer in several years. Ilsedora Laker on the other hand speaks with Dr. Hamer weekly on GNM matters.    http://www.newmedicine.ca/statement2.php
