Childhood Cancer

When I think about those infants  and  children being pushed through           a  parking lot  in a stroller  at the same level  as exhaust pipes  of  cars. Or playing out in the yard,  crawling on a carpet after someone walked on the lawn that has been treated with  fertilizer. Even the times when I have seen a  new borne whose mother has smoked during the pregnancy.

Also the times kids have to endure their parents second hand smoke it’s amazing in the United States  only seven children  succumb to cancer daily. While some hospital rankings is better than others,  yearly 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer and  2500 will die.  On average  36 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer everyday.

In the United States,  on average  one in every  four elementary schools has a child with cancer.  Childhood cancer occurs regularly,  randomly and spares no ethnic group or socioeconomic class or geographic region.  While the  incidence of  invasive  pediatric  cancer  has  raised  29%  in  the past 20 years.  Increasing  at  a greater rate  than any other age group except those over 65 years.    http://www.historyofvaccines.org/content/articles/top-20-questions-about-vaccination      Cancer and Vaccine Link?

Cancer is the leading cause of  death in children under the age  of  15  in  the United States  (one  in  five children diagnosed  will  die  within  5 years and  one in three children diagnosed  will not live – out a normal life span.) Many  pediatric  cancersfor  instance  neuroblastoma  and  disseminated medulloblastoma  are  terminal upon progression or recurrence.  With the average age of death  for a child with cancer being 8 years causing a child   to lose 69 years of  life expectancy   (Neuroblastoma Survivor Stories.)

Cancer kills more children than AID’s, asthma, diabetes, cystic  fibrois  and congential anomalies combined.  Despite these  facts, childhood cancer research is vastly  and consistently underfunded,  74% of  childhood cancer survivors  have  chronic illness.  While  40%  of  childhood cancer survivors have severe illnesses  or die  from such illnesses  and  are at significant risk for secondary cancers later in life.

Estrogen Dominance

A  term  coined  by  the late John R. Lee MD., author of  numerous books        on topics of  women’s hormones. THE THEORY of  ESTROGEN DOMINANCE describes a condition where women can have deficient,  normal  or excessive estrogen level.  However,  has little or  No progesterone  to balance it’s effect  in  the  body.  Therefore,  even  a  woman  with  low estrogen levels  can have estrogen dominance symptoms if  she doesn’t have progesterone.

Basically estrogen dominance…. reflects  hormone imbalance  and out of  balance hormones can affect women  from  14 to 94. Therefore, how does one become  estrogen dominate?  Our  food  chain  that’s  ridden  with  pesticides, herbicides  and  growth hormones…. is a sea of  endocrine –  disrupting toxic chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body.

If  we’re over weight…  our body’s store excess  fat that can be converted   into estrogen. Insulin resistance also leads to estrogen dominance, then you have  the estrogen  found in ERT,  HRT  and  Birth Control pills.  ESTROGEN DOMINANCE  can also occur in men,  as they age,  estrogen gradually rises, while saliva levels of  progesterone  and  testosterone gradually  falls.

It’s often  found that men of  fifty having higher saliva levels of  estrogen than woman of  fifty?  A  sign  of  estrogen dominance  in men  is  tendency for  some  to  develop  breastAn  imbalance  of  hormone ~ related  health problems  such as PMS, endometriosis, uterine fibroids,  infertility,  post – partum  depression,  weight  gain,  increased  blood  clotting  and  thyroid dysfunction.

With worse case scenario being breast and uterine cancer in women and breast  cancer,  prostate  problems  and  prostate  cancer  in  men.  Estrogen dominance can be detected by taking a saliva test, where as this simple test procedure can accurately reveal hormone levels.  Therefore,  men  can  also take  this simple saving  face at ~ home test determining  if  their hormones are out of  balance too.

Melatonin is a compound in our body helping regulate sleep,  as well as other physiological rhythms in our body.  It is secreted  by the pineal gland and is a hormone  that is effected by light that just might regulate estrogen. Light suppresses levels of  melatonin,  while darkness  helps  to  trigger our body to secret more of the compound.

What’s interesting about melatonin…. is it’s levels start to wane as we   age (certain indications seem to alter it’s levels in our body as well.)  While the long ~ term  side  effects  of  frequently  altering  our natural melatonin secretion  is not completely understood.  However,  there  is  some  concern that long ~ term alterations to normal secretion patterns can have various detrimental effects (night workers and their overall health.)

Earlier studies suggest  that  there  may be some benefit  from melatonin   use in patients with cancer. Some studies suggest patients on melatonin had better response to chemotherapy in breast cancer patients;  and some of  the side effects  and  anxiety associated  with the therapy  some  what mitigated. As researchers  found there was a 34 percent relative risk reduction in death in the melatonin user group.

Another  study  looked  at  patients…. whom had advanced cancer of  the breast,  lung,  gastrointestinal  tract,  head  and  neck.  Thereby,  when given  chemotherapy,  either alone  or with 20 mg/day of  melatonin.  There  was  a reduction  in  side effects  of  low platelet count,  fatigue,  mouth sores,  heart complications  and  neurotoxicity  in  the melatonin group  with higher rates of  survival than non – melatonin group.

Because melatonin has antioxidant effects in our body there is a growing interest in it’s benefit  for patients  with  neurodegenerative disease,  such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. There is even growing interest in using melatonin for stroke patients, those with high blood pressure and even some indications melatonin may be helpful  for migraine headaches.

There  was  a study  that looked  at  migraine  sufferers  who  were  given 3mg  of  melatonin  about 30 minutes  before bed time  every night  for three months  and  of  the  patients  whom  finished  the  study.  Two – thirds of  the patients  seemed to have  a  50 percent reduction,  severity  and  duration of there migraine headache.

Increase Risk of Prostate Cancer

Past research has indicated Omega – 3  fatty acids  found in  fatty  fish, other foods and supplement form decreases your risk  for cardiovascular events.  However, new research stakes claim indicating a higher risk  for developing  prostate cancer in men.  While  some experts  have expressed skepticism about the study’s findings, men taking the supplement should thrown caution to the wind weighing the pro’s and con’s.

The study conducted at Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center,  researchers  studied  843 men  who had  prostate cancer and  another group of  1,883 men  who  didn’t have cancer. They  found  that  the  prostate cancer patients had greater levels of  the omega – 3  fatty  acids  in their blood  than  those in the non – cancer group.

They also  found high concentrations of three anti – inflammatory and metabolically related  fatty – acids called,  eicosapentaenoic acid  or  EPA, eocosapentaenoic acid  or DPA  and  docosahexaenoic acid – DHA that are    found in  fatty fish.  Such  as  salmon  as  well  as  in supplement  form are linked  with  a  71  percent increased risked of  developing the high – grade prostate cancer, the kind that is often  fatal.

The Seattle Study  also revealed that too much  fatty -acid  can also lead  to  a  44 percent  increase  in  the  risk of  low – grade prostate cancer  which grows more slowly,  as well as an overall 43 percent increase in risk  for all forms  of  prostate cancer.  The  researchers  also  said, “the  consistency  of  their  findings  suggest  fatty – acids  are  connected  with  the  development  of  prostate tumors.

The  researchers   are  unclear  about  “why,”   high  levels  of  omega – 3  fatty – acids  would  increase prostate cancer risk.  However, they point out omega – 3  fatty acids convert into other compounds that could damage cells and  DNA,  and  their  role  in  immunosuppression.   Therefore,  always  use caution when you increase your dosage of  omega – 3  fatty acids,  and when you chose a brand consider potential risk  factors.

This is my belief  from  talking to experts:  always purchase high quality standardized supplements and in the case of  fish oil supplements.  Purchase a product that has been molecular distilled,  crude  fish oil  has a lot of  gunk, a pinch of  mercury and dash of  industrial contaminants like PCB & Dioxins as elements.  Molecular Distilled  removes  these  elements  and  in it’s purest form, Omega – 3 has less odor, rancidity  and  oxidation when consumed in a timely manner.   Therefore  is Fish Oil  A Rip Off  0R  NOT?

Important NOTE: **Always  buy a  fish oil supplement  from  a  glass bottle and if the capsules cling together in the bottle when shaken instead of  rattle don’t buy them?    Food Can Be The Best Choice!!

Know Your Choices

Everyone has cancer cells in their body… so why does one person get diagnosed  and  another never gets diagnosed?  Cancer is almost always caused by a multi — step sequence of  events.  Mostly, it’s nasty microbes (viruses,  bacteria,  fungi  &  yeast  and parasites.)  Generally  from meat  NOT cooked adequately intercepting glucose headed to cells in organs.

As  these  microbes  excrete  mycotoxins  which  are  highly acidic  and  worthless  to the cells.  Because  the cells live  in a Sea of  Filth,  not getting   the nutrition they need; the cells become weak and expose to  free radicals as  carcinogens  are introduced on a daily basis.  Because  of  this  singular weakness  the  immune  system  becomes  weaken, actually these microbes weaken the immune system directly and indirectly.

Because of the immune system weaken state:  it can’t kill enough cancer cells  and the cancer grows abnormally while becoming angiogenesis. Thus the ‘root cause” of cancer is microbes that are in the organs or blood stream. Whereas this weaken immune system produces  an acidic environment from the  amount  of  filth  in  the  body  which  the  heighten  cancer  cells  provide. SEE The Book: “Fire in the Belly,”   by Dr. Keith Scott Mumby M.D.

While some Institutions state, cancer patients are termed “SURVIVORS,” from the moment they hear You Have Cancer. Others state, the only way one earns that distinction;  five – years after they hear those “Magical 3 Words” your cancer free. So if it’s your logical goal  to become a survivor it’s  always important to keep educating  and  re – educating yourself  of  the choices you may have  and  the internet has tons of  information.

With  little  changing:  since the 1950’s  and  the cancer rates  being 1 in 7 back then compared to 1 in 3 people today, cancer is on a death spiral to our health  care  system.   That’s  right  with  an  overall  worse  cancer  incident rate  compared  to  63 years ago  it’s  putting  a  tremendous burden  on  our ailing  pharmaceutical industry  having incredible  promise  ( felt  with  the greatest optimism)  and incurable complexity  (lots of  duress to Americans with it’s inflection point.)

With  a  disease  covering  five broad groups  of  cancers producing over  200  different  types.  In  this  last  important  video,  Dr.  Jay Bradner M.D., Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Broad Institute discuss the history of  cancer  therapies.  How  far  it  has become  and  where it might  possibly be headed with targeted therapy and personalized approaches. Therefore, the patient main responsibility…. when walking through the door of  a clinic should be understanding for themselves the hardwiring of cancer (why they have the disease  and  changes they need to change to overcome.)

If Someone Has One’s Druthers

When I look back through “blog roll”  or  “top tags” of  Solitarius.org   while searching  for  answers to cancer  in this centralized hub of  cancer research.  Just like you ~ still to this day:  One — I’m fascinated by all the options when it comes to treatment. Two —  the month of  July,  I brought forth  the  best  treatments, and  Three — I  found the ketogenic diet one of   the most promising treatments of /and prevention  for cancer. What with cancer treatment having all it’s negative side effects with robust cost one should consider a cancer fighting body as a key to longevity

Could a ketogenic diet  eventually be a  “standard of  care,”   drug  free treatment   for cancer (Chris Wark and  Kris Carr while  others  seemingly think so.)  A ketogenic  diet  eliminating  all  refined carbohydrates  except non – starchy  carbohydrates  (artichokes,  asparagus,  avocado,  broccoli,  Brussels sprouts,  cabbage,  cucumber,  green beans,  green peppers,  peas and zucchini is exactly what the doctor has ordered.)

When you replace refined and starchy carbohydrates with healthy fat   and  high quality  protein sources  and not synthetic protein sources.  The premise is cancer cells need glucose to thrive and carbohydrates turn into glucose.  Then lowering glucose levels in your blood though carbohydrate  and  protein restriction should starve cancer cells. Additionally, than low protein intake tends to minimize the mTOR  pathway that accelerates cell proliferations including cancer cells.

Dr. Thomas Seyfried, whom is one of  the leading pioneers promoting nutrition in combating cancer,  however,  is cautious  in his evaluation of  mTOR  pathway and reducing protein  for cancer prevention.  In his view  the most important aspect of cancer prevention and treatment is  fasting intermittently, or overall calorie restriction which includes eating less of everything period while getting more exercise /Bicycling.

Dr. Seyfried  states, “while  calories  from  carbohydrates  should  be virtually eliminated, calories  from protein  just need to be reduced.  While most people need to increase  their healthful  fat consumption  with a more ideal  ratio of  good  fat  to protein.”   The  mechanism  by  which  ketogenic diets manage epileptic seizures is unknown. However in the case of  cancer it’s  well  established  lowering glucose starves cancer cells, however, what is also known the diet can be hard to stay on  for any length of  time.

Thinking Outside The Box

The BRAIN  being the most complex part in the human body and within    this  three pound organ amazing  functions occur ( sense of  touch,  smell, sight,  move,   feel ,  hear  and  ability  to think.)  It  controls  and  contorts your thoughts  and  emotions,  receives  and  analyzes  information  while storing memory.  The  brain  produces  electrical  signals  which  together  with chemical reactions allows the body to communicate in unison.

Although the brain is only  2%  of  the body weight,  it uses  20%  of  the  oxygen  supply  and  gets  20% of  the  blood   flow.  Blood vessels  (arteries, capillaries and veins) supply the brain with oxygen and nourishment,  and  takes away waste. The brain and spinal cord makes up the central nervous system  (CNS)  while the brain is connected  to  the  spinal cord  which  runs from the neck to the hip area.

The  nerves connecting  the CNS  to the rest of the body called peripheral nervous  system,  which  the  autonomic  nervous  system  controls  our life support system that we don’t consciously control, like breathing, digesting food  and  blood circulation works marvelously well together.  The  cells of the nervous system  are  quite  fragile  and  need extensive protection  from being crushed, infected by disease organisms and other harm.

The brain,  spinal cord  are covered  by  a tough,  translucent membrane called the dura mater.  Cerebrospinal  fluid  (CSF)  is a clear,  watery liquid that  surrounds  the  brain  and  spinal cord,  is  also  found  throughout  the  ventricle (brain cavities  and  tunnels.)  CSF cushions  the brain  and spinal  cord  from jolts.  The blood brain barrier protects  the brain  from chemical intrusion  from the rest of  the body.

Blood  flowing into the brain is  filtered so that many harmful chemicals  can not enter into the brain.  However, occasionally events unfold – in – an – instance messages go haywire. Therefore  scientist  don’t  fully  understand  what causes  Alzheimer’s disease,  however,  are learning  that age -related changes in the brain may harm neurons and contribute to the disease.

However  for  that to be the case  wouldn’t it make sense  for whomever would age they would end – up  with Alzheimer,  and  it simply  just doesn’t work that way period.  Therefore  the likely cause may stem  from a mix of  genetics,  environmental  factors  and  lifestyle  choices.  Taking  a  look  at genetics  and   for those patients with  “late – onset”  Alzheimer  developing after age 60….  let’s take a look at the possibility  0f  NEW Treatment.

Many studies have been done that linked the apolipoprotein E  (APOE) gene  to  ‘late – onset”  Alzheimer  and  this  gene  with  it’s  many  forms: one being APOE e4 which seems to increase a person’s risk of getting the disease. However carrying  APOE e4 genes  does not  necessarily mean  that a person will develop Alzheimer, while  some  people  carrying no  APOE e4  gene  can also have development the disease.

Therefore,  lately,  most of  the research has been turned toward those of environmental  factors  &  lifestyle choices,  and  also host  of  other  factors beyond genetics  as the main role  in the development of  Alzheimer Disease. There has been a great deal of  interest in the association between cognitive decline,  vascular  and metabolic signaturessuch as heart diseasestroke, high blood pressurediabetes  and  obesity.

So like brain tumors,  the best way to avoid  Alzheimer Disease is to avoid certain environmental agents  like  aluminum  and  vinyl chloride,  and  also extreme therapeutic radiation therapy. While eating a diet rich in omega – 3 fatty  acid  from  fish. In addition, vegetables and fruits rich in anti oxidants, while  foods  rich  in  B-vitamins,  especially  vitamin B-12  has  shown  it  can reduce  your risk  for Alzheimer Disease.

Also as the human body ages it has been shown a lesser ability to absorb vitamin B-12. Therefore after the age of  60 years we should have our blood levels of  vitamin B-12 checked  and  proven deficient we should consider an injection.  Especially  if  you consume high levels  of  alcohol  which also has been shown to – lead – to liver disease which in turn can spread to the brain.  The  following  is  a  list – of – links  of  the  better  options  one  may  have  in their battle of   Brain Cancer   (Alzheimer Disease!!!)

Swedish Neuroscience Institute: provides acclaimed advanced progressive treatment  for a wide range of brain, spine  and  nervous system conditions….

Skull Base Institute: Dr. Hrayr Shahinian  is regarded as a pioneering expert utilizing  minimally invasive endoscopy for brain tumors….

Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute: recognized as a leader in the  fight    against brain and spinal cord tumors….

A Deadly Cancer

Bone Cancer:  unfortunately,  doctors have been unable to pinpoint any preventative techniques specific to primary bone cancer, as this rare  form of  the  disease  accounts  for  less  than  1  percent  of  all  cancer  diagnoses. However,  researchers have identified several key risk  factors  you  should be concerned about this potentially deadly disease and bone sarcomas.

Therefore,  if  you know there’s a history of  the  disease  in your  family,  you should focus your efforts on early detection to prevent the disease from reaching  an advanced stage.  Research  also  believe  people  with  a  genetic condition known as Paget’s disease have elevated bone cancer risk. If you’re genetically predisposed  to bone cancer,  stop smoking,  tobacco  use  in  any form increases your chances of  developing the disease.

Oncologist  stress  the  importance  of  controlling  your  eating  habits, avoiding excess calories, choosing healthy low  fat  foods instead. Limiting your saturated  fats  and  red meat  while eating whole grains,  fresh  fruits and  vegetables.  Regular exercise  is also believed  to limit cancer risk  and you should always undergo regular cancer screening  and  tell your doctor about any symptom.        Those  fruits and veggies are super  foods!!!

Secondary Bone Cancer usually results  from the metastasis,  or spread    of  other  forms  of  cancer  into the bones.  For  this  to happen  the original form of  cancer must remain undetected  and  untreated  for a considerable period.  If  you’ve already contracted a  form of  cancer  and want to stop it from spreading to your bones.  Follow your oncologist’s advice… complete all prescribed treatments in  full.

One of  the  newest  and  most  promising  treatments  is proton therapy, focused ultrasound therapy  and  radio  frequency ablation that targets the tumor  and  not  the  healthy  surrounding.  With  follow up  care  especially important, since cancer tends to recur in individuals who have already had it.  A Holistic Doctor can be a vital addition to any cancer patients recovery team, with  tracking vitamin  and  mineral deficiencies  through  blood test (while keeping the cancer at bay  and  NOT  turning stage 4.)

Preventing Cancer

Bladder Canceryour best bet is to avoid possible carcinogens or cancer causing substances.  For starters don’t smoke,  consume  smoked  or cured meats  and  prefer  fresh to process  foods. Research also suggest: that there is a reduced incidence by including beta-carotene, vitamin B6 and selenium in your diet.  If  you work around carcinogenic chemicals,  follow the safety guidelines to avoid undue exposure.  In theory,  drinking liquids, especially water,  may dilute toxic substances that may be concentrated in your urine and   flush the symptoms out of  your bladder more quickly.

With men  up to  four  times  more  likely than women of  getting bladder cancer, it occurs twice as often in Caucasians as it does in African American  and  Hispanics.  While Asians have the lowest rate of developing the disease. Bladder cancer  with  it’s 50%  to  80% chance of  returning  after  treatment  (this rate  is  the  highest rate of  any  cancer  including skin cancer.)  People whom work in the rubber, chemical, and leather industries, as dry cleaners or hair dressers.  Along with machinists, metal workers, printers, painters, textile workers  and  truck drivers have higher risk.

Breast Canceras a women ages and starts to go through menopause the shift  from a balance of estrogen – progesterone, shifts to a greater degree of estrogen.  That  dominance  in estrogen…. can  promote  the growth of  some  breast cancers which are called hormone – sensitive  or hormone dependent breast cancers. Breast tissue developing  from prenatal stages until the time of birth and breast feeds are vulnerable. As these breast structures that have not gone through the full sequence of development are particularly sensitive to the detrimental effects of  environmental toxins.    Broccoli Sprouts!!!

A Familial History of breast cancer increases your risk factor somewhat, particularly  BRCA1, BRCA2 and p53 genes.  However, reproductive  factors associated  with  prolong  exposure  to  endogenous  estrogen,  such as early menarche,  late menopause, late age child birth are amongst risk  factors as well.  Also one should also consider the higher risk of  exogenous hormones, hormone replacement therapy and prolong oral contraceptives.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) is the most aggressive  form of  breast cancer.   According  to  the  American  Cancer  Society  it  accounts  for  only 1%  to  5%  of   all  invasive breast cancers.  However,  the  five  year  overall survival rate  is 40%  compared  to nearly 90%  for all other types of  breast cancer  combined.  The  symptoms  of  IBC  actually  are not  caused  by any inflammation,  rather  by  cancer cells  blocking lymph vessels  in  the  skin and soft tissue.

Lymph  is  a  clear  fluid  that  contains  tissue waste  and  cells  that help fight infections.  It  travels  through the body  in vessels  that  are  similar to veins. Lymph nodes are small bean – shaped organs that link lymph vessels. Science and  Medicine will add to our ability to conquer cancer, researching  how  cancer  cells  can  influence the development  of  new lymphatic vessels  and   pathways.  While  also  establishing  other  routes  for  these  cells  to spread to other parts of the body.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7LOParZX-I

Colorectal Cancer: The National Cancer Institute recommends a low – fat, high  fiber diet  that  includes  at least  five servings of  fruits  and  vegetables each day.  While  reducing  the major sources of  fat  in your diet (limit meat, eggs,  dairy product, cooking oils and salad dressings.)  Also after the age of fifty to get a regular ten year checkup  and colonoscopy to determine  if  you may have any troublesome precancerous polpys.  When  I  was  48 years old this procedure  turned  my life  around  taking  me  back  15 years  when  the proctologist  removed a colony of  hemorrhoids  and  a  polpy.

Diet  is considered  a determinant of  increased risk  in  the  development   of  colorectal cancer.  Although  it’s  difficult to ascertain which components of  diet  are  most  important  in  increasing  your  risk  of  colorectal  cancer.  Compelling  evidence  also  suggests  a strong  association between red meat and  fat intake  and  colorectal  cancer.  While  high intakes of  animal  fat  is  also associated  with colorectal cancer,  the  fatty  acids  in  fish and  low  fat reduce  the  risk.  While  high  obesity  rates  and  a  lack  of  physical activity increases the risk as well.

Gynecological Cancer: while there is no guarantee to prevent these types    of cancers, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk. One way is with yearly examines  and inside knowledge  of   warning  signs,  which is unusal bleeding after menopause,  pain and pressure,  changes in bowel  or bladder habits  and  thickening  or  lumps  that  causes  pain  or  can  be  seen  or  felt. To  reduce  your  risk:  do not  smoke,  limit  fat  intake,  get  regular medical examinations,  limit  alcohol intake,  pay attention  to changes in your body and exercise daily  for at least 30 minutes  0f  Ungirdled  Truths!!!

In the United States  this  year 90,000  women  will  be  diagnosed  with gynecological cancer, half  being cervical cancer about 30,000 patients will die with ovarian cancer being the deadliest.  It’s  worth repeating  again the symptoms usually go unnoticed:  vaginal bleeding  and  discharge,  changes in the skin of  the valva,  vaginal itching  and burning, back  and abdominal pain, being tired all the time  while  having  to  pass  urine  more  often  than usual and bloating.  It’s always recommended  that  women seek care of  the symptoms if  they have persisted  for two weeks.

Leukemia:  there  is  no known way  to prevent most types  of  blood borne cancers, however, most people don’t know the risk factors. Avoiding any high doses of radiation  and  chemotherapy  used to treat previous cancer can be a forerunner.  Also avoiding exposure to benezene a chemical by – product of  coal and petroleum used mainly in gasoline,  and any others such as paints, solvents, plastics, pesticides  and  detergents. While those working with the products should always consider protective clothing and special care.

When you have Leukemia:  the  bone  marrow  starts  to  make  a lot  of   abnormal white blood cells,  called Leukemia cells. They don’t do the work  of  normal white blood cells,  leukemia cells  grow  faster than normal cells and  don’t  stop growing  when  they  should.  Overtime  leukemia cells  can crowd out the normal blood cells, this can lead to serious problems such as anemia,  bleeding  and  infections.  Leukemia cells  can  also  spread  to  the Lymph nodes or other organs causing swelling and pain.

Liver Cancerfor the general population screening hasn’t been proved to reduce the risk  of  dying  of  cancer.  While the American Association  for the Study  of   Liver Disease  recommends  liver  screening  for  those  thought  to have higher risk.  Those  people  with  an increased risk  include  Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C,  Liver Cirrhosis  from other causes such as an auto immune disease or excessive alcohol use  and  nonalcoholic  fatty liver disease.

The liver performs many important  functions,  such  as  removing  toxins and  other chemicals waste products  from the blood  and  readying them  for excretion. Because the liver is usually accessible to cancer cells traveling the blood stream it can be affected  by primary liver cancer.  Which arises in the liver  or by cancer which  forms in other sites  and  than spreads to the liver.  In the United States…. primary liver cancer strikes twice  as  many  men  as women at an average age  of  67 years old.

Cancer Prevention

Lung Cancer:  0f  the estimated 580,350 men and women whom will die     0f  cancer in  2013  (160,000  will  die of  lung cancer.)  Being 90%  of  lung cancer can be prevented through actions and awareness (cigarette smoke    is the leading  cause  followed  by radon gas in the home.) Buyer Beware:    if you smoke stop and if you don’t smoke don’t start,  if you live in a home  that’s new… still have your basement tested  for radon gas…. because of   the tightly seal and heavily isolation… radon levels maybe high.

Still it is estimated  that  90%  of  lung cancer  could  be prevented each year through action and awareness.  Smoking cigarettes and tobacco use  by any means is responsible  for 87%  of  lung cancer in the United States. Therefore,  quitting smoking at any time can lower the risk of  developing lung cancer and  if  you already have cancer it could prevent a secondary more aggressive type  from recurring. Each year lung cancer affects over 370,000 Americans,  what  type  of  robust effect  would  it have on health care  if  everybody would  QUIT!!    Know Your Options Beforehand?

The Facts About Radon Gas… It’s Deadly!!!

Melanoma: you can lower your risk 0f the deadliest form 0f skin cancer    by protecting yourself  from  exposure  to UV Radiation  from the sun with   slip!  slop!  slap!  and  wrap!   Ounce 0f Prevention beats a pound of cure?

* Slip  on a shirt.

* Slop on sunscreen.

Slap on a hat.

            * Wrap around sunglasses.

While avoiding  severe sunburns  by avoiding being outdoors in direct        sunlight to long,  especially  between  the  hours  of  10 am and 4 pm when the  UV light  is strongest.  If  your  unsure  of  the  suns  intensity  use  the shadow test  and  if  your shadow is shorter than you are ~ it’s important    to have some  form  of  protection. Therefore, you don’t need to know the new medical breakthroughs.

Melanoma is less common than other skin cancers, however, it is much more  dangerous  if  not  found early causing  75%  of  the deaths related to skin cancer.  Worldwide  doctors  diagnose  about  160,000  new  cases  of  melanoma yearly.  In women the most common site is the legs and in men  it’s the back because those area’s are the most likely to be left exposed  for the greatest length of  time.  All cancers are caused by damage to the DNA inside  cells,  this  damage  can  be  inherited  through  genetic  mutations, however,  more likely it builds through a person’s  lifetime  and caused by environmental issues.

Non  Hodgkins  Lymphomathe  exact  cause  is  unknown,  however, certain risk  factors exist. While certain viruses (like H.I.V., Epstein Barr, Human-T cell Leukemia  and  Virus 1.)  and  also  bacteria  caused  by  the Helicobacteria  pylori  and  celiac disease  that  can increase your risk of  developing B – cell or a rare T – cell lymphoma.

Also  in  a small  number of  casesworking  with  chemicals  such  as insecticides  and  herbicides  seemingly  increase  the  risk  of  developing lymphoma and conditions that include rheumatoid arthritis, haemolytic anaemia,  sjogren’s  syndrome,  lupus  and  psoriasis that can affect your immune system  and  heighten your risk.

Dr. Richard Becker,  D.O.  physician  in  North Texas  where  he  and            his  wife  Host  Your  Health.  In  1997,  Dr.  Becker  was  diagnosed  with Hodgkins  Lymphoma,  while also immersing himself  into the world  of Natural Healing. Which he states,  some of  the things he learned in that    time ~ fight to survive led to the  formation of  Bio Innovations.  In some ways this person mentor me through being a loyal watcher of  his show    and making a big impact on this website!!

Pancreatic Cancerfortunately  cancer of  the  pancreas  is relatively    rare,  however,  your risk of  developing  this  dreadful disease triples if  your mother, father, sister or brother had the disease. Please remember though  most  people  with   family  history  doesn’t  mean  you  will  get pancreatic cancer.  That said,  first  thing  first smokers  are more likely  than  non  smokers of  developing  the  disease.  Also  a  study  that  was conducted  from  University of  California  at San Francisco  found  that  eating  five  plus servings of  yellow, orange or green veggies  HELP!

Pancreatic Cancer remains one of  the most difficult cancers to treat,        due  to  it’s  extreme resistance  to  treatment  and  few  early symptoms.      At  the  time  of  initial diagnosis  50%  of  patients  usually  have  distant metastases of  the liver of  peritoneal surface  and more than 80% of  the remaining  patients  have  locally  advanced tumors.  The  majority  95%       are adenocarcinomas that  mainly  develop  from  exocrine  cells  in  the    tissues  of  the  pancreas.  These  tumors  are  also  characterized  by  an aggressive behavior with  fast progression and highly metastatic.

In contrast,  neuroendocrine tumors of  pancreatic origin,  also known        as  pancreatic NET  or  islet cell tumors;  are not as common <2%  and are considered  less deadly.  Illustrating the difference,  however,  between the two,  Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze  had  stage IV  exocrine cancer  that already spread to his liver March 2008 and lost his battle September 2009 at  age 57.  Likewise, Apples’s  Steve Jobs  under went  surgery  for  NET  in 2004 and didn’t succumb until October 2011 at age 56.

Prostate Cancermost cases are slow growing, however, there are instances of  aggressive  prostate cancers.  The  cancer cells  may  also metastasize  (spread)  from  the  prostate  to  other  parts  of  the  body. Particularly the bones  and  lymph nodes causing pain, also difficulty   urinating,  problems with sexual inter course  or  erectile dysfunction. Globally  it  is  the  sixth leading cause of  cancer related death  in men  (being  first in the U.K.  and  second leading in the United States.)

Prostate Cancer:  many risk  factors such as age,  race,  and  family   history  can not  be  controlled.   However,   the  effect  of  body  weight, physical activity and diet on prostate risk are not clear, but there may         be things you can do that might lower your risk.  Several  studies  also suggest  that  diets  high  in  certain  vegetables   (including  tomatoes, cruciferous vegetables,  soy,  beans  and  other  legumes)  or  fish  with    their omega 3 content  for cancer prevention versus treatment.

Thyroid Cancer:  risk  factors  like  frequent head  and  neck  X – rays exposes the thyroid to radiation which can increase your risk over time. While lack of  iodine does not directly cause thyroid cancer,  it  has been linked to goiter,  which  in  turn increases  your  risk  for  developing the disease.  In most cases the cause of  thyroid cancer is unknown,  there is little that  can  be  done  to  prevent  the  disease. Although today their is   great  hope in the treatment of  thyroid cancer by removing cause.

If you live near a nuclear power plant ~  you maybe eligible to obtain potassium  iodide.  Because  the  excessive iodine intake  can  be harmful, consult a physician before consuming a diet rich in the nutrient that can help maximize  function.  French Researcher Dr. Elisabeth Cardis  whom performed  a case control  study  of  1300 controlled  patients  who  lived near Chernobyl. Whom at the time of the disaster back in the 1980’s that  was 15  or younger  and  found  those  deficient in iodine was three times more likely to garner radiation – related thyroid cancer.

Understanding Cancer

As I head into July Blog Post trying to understand the process leading to cancer.  Cancer is a natural process  where  an  over worked  and  weakened immune system can’t kill it  as quickly as it is multiplying. Therefore toxins, carcinogens,  radiation,  even viruses, combined with an unhealthy internal environment;  and  in  conjunction  with  a weakened immune system, cause more cells to turn cancerous and allows them to thrive.

Just as we couldn’t  live on mars  without  oxygen,  cancer  can’t  exist  in  cells where there is enough oxygen.  Therefore some experts will say, “in the earth atmosphere  due  to  global change  and  lessening  oxygen levels all to often our cells are low in oxygen.”  All normal body cells  meet  their  energy needs by respiration of oxygen, whereas cancer cells meet their energy need in great  part by  fermentation.

The underlying cause of  all cancer, no matter what type, may have been discovered  over 50 years ago  by Otto Warburg.  Whereas he also stated in “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer,”  that the cause of  cancer is no longer a mystery. We know it occurs  whenever  any  cell  is  denied  60%  of  it’s  oxygen requirements.  Therefore the primary cause of cancer no matter the type is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a  fermentation of sugar.

More recently J.B. Kizer a biochemist and physicist at Gungnir Research  in Portsmouth, Ohio explained, “since Warburg discovery this has been the only physiological difference consistently  found  between  normal  healthy and  cancerous cells.  That  all normal cells  are obligate aerobes,  whereas, cancerous  cells  are  partial  anaerobes.”    In  chemistry,   alkali  solutions (pH  over  7.0)  tend  to  absorb  oxygen  while  acids  (pH  under  7.0)  tend    to expel oxygen.

Thereby  when  the body becomes acidic  by dropping below  a  pH level     of  7.0 (oxygen is driven out of the body inducing cancer)  Therefore, blood must  always  remain  at  an  alkaline  level  of  7.4 so it  retains it’s oxygen. When adequate mineral consumption is in your diet,  the blood is supplied the crucial minerals required to maintain and alkaline pH  of  7.4.

However  when  insufficient  mineral  consumption  is  in  the  diet, the body  is  forced  to  rob  Peter (other body fluids)  to pay Paul  (the blood.)    In doing so it removes crucial minerals, such as calcium  from the Saliva, spinal  fluids,  kidneys,  liver  etc.,  in  order  to  maintain  the  blood  level     at a pH  of  7.4.  This causes the demineralization of  fluids  and organs to become acidic and therefore, anerobic.

Everybody knows the human body is made up of 78% water by weight,  and  that water is hydrogen  and  oxygen gases.  When  nitrogen  gas  and  carbon in the  form  of  carbon dioxide  and  methane gases are added, the total  gas  in  the  body  by weight  becomes  over  95%.  Almost  half of  the remaining  5%  that makes up the human body  and controls all biological   functions is the mineral calcium.

No other mineral is capable of  performing as many biological functions     as is calcium.  It is the calcium ions are responsible  for  feeding every cell.  It  does  this   by  latching  onto  seven  nutrient  molecules  and  one  water molecule  and  pulls them through the nutrient channel.  It  then  detaches it’s load and returns to repeat the process.

Another important biological job  for  calcium  is DNA replication which      is  concealed  for maintaining  youth  and  a  healthy body.  DNA replication   is the basis  for all body repair and can only occur on a substrate of calcium, thereby, low calcium means low body repair and premature aging. Calcium to acid is like water to  fire… calcium quickly destroys oxygen robbing acids in the body  fluids.

Thus the more calcium,  the more oxygen  and  therefore,  the less cancer and  other  degenerative disease.  As important as all these  and hundreds of  other biological  functions  of  calcium  are  to  human  health,  none  is  more important than the job of  pH control. Oxygen is essential to metabolize food and create high energy, it is also impossible for cancer to exist in an alkaline oxygen – rich environment

In the 1950’s Dr.  Carl Reich  MD., discovered  that his  patients were able    to cure themselves of  almost all degenerative diseases by consuming several times  the  RDA amount of  calcium,  magnesium,  vitamin D  and  other  vital  nutrients.  Dr. Reich was the first North American Doctor to prescribe mega doses of  minerals and vitamins.  Also is considered by many to be the  father of  preventive medicine.

By  the  1980’s  Dr.  Reich had cured thousands,  however, lost his liscense  for explaining the consumption of  mineral nutrients,  such as calcium, could prevent cancer and a host of other diseases. This concept was considered too simple to accept by the medical profession of  that day.  However, by the late 1990’s  other  medical  men  of  wisdom  were  also  discovering  that  calcium supplements could prevent cancer.
