We most certainly can’t run scared about everything that causes cancer. If that would be the case… than we would be running scared of everything. My newest blog post will try to expose some of the greatest reasons of why cancer is greater in some areas and not the others. While trying to bring to the forefront cancer awareness, hopefully, making people a tougher target of attracting this dreadful disease.
First when I started to explore the causes and effects of cancer. I begin to checkout common denominators of cancer, especially focusing on why children in some areas are more likely to get cancer. In some states where cancer is low (Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico and Nevada.) Where the vast majority of the states percentages are below the National Average of 14.0 out of 100,000 for childhood cancers.
The city dwelling metro areas show an increase in childhood cancer rates compared to the less sprawing rural areas. Where lead indexes are higher signifying ~ lead exposure possibly from greater population. With car vehicle usage, more households and just general pollution causing the health concerns. It’s true in the early 1970’s we went unleaded in our cars and pickups.
However it’s still a possibility that lead is being thrust into the precious air we breath through greater means. It’s true we can’t concern ourselves with every little thing or life wouldn’t be what it is. However, in counties where lead can be a culprit we should throw caution to the wind. With the certain precautions mandatory like water filters being a must.
For every type of cancer it’s always important to have a survivor in your corner. No more so than breast cancer and the personal circumstance that surround the situation. Sometimes when you have an urgent need and start exploring the possibilities on the internet when it’s a crisis. Just finding the right keywords to google can be quite mind numbing and baffling.
With one of the most intriquing and interesting cancer cases I happen upon being Dr. Kimberly Allison. Whom in March 2008 being 33 years old and a breast cancer pathologist. Also recently having been named Director of Breast Pathology at the University of Washington in Seattle. With her diagnosis that was challenging to treat because the tumor cells lacked the receptors for estrogen and progesterone that are associated with more curable cancers.
However the cells carried receptors for Her-2/neu, a growth factor that’s associated with agressive cancer. At diagnosis Dr. Kimberly’s cancer had already spread to at least one lymph node and it was big, bigger than the average size being one – to – two centimeters. Hers being seven centimeters might be a bit testy to treat. Since that time Dr. Allison has chosen to give something back, while mentoring other patients about her experiences she has written a book “Red Sunshine.”
Refusing to accept the hopelessness and darkness of this prognosis. Though power of prayer he went searching for people who had lived even though their doctors told them they were terminal. That was almost 30 years ago and Greg is still alive and well. NOW he serves as a messenger of HOPE, for someone that has a journey of near death to a healed life.
Part of the reason that surgeon was mistaken is no healthcare provider can predict a patients response to that verdict. After only a couple days of thinking the worse and that it wasn’t his decision, he made the profound decision to live. Refusing to accept the hopelessness of that prognosis — he went searching for people who had lived though this dreadful ordeal. While writing a few books along the way!!!
Having faith in yourself is showcased within this blog post and the accompanying video. On December 27, 2003 while having symptoms and lacking verbalization to discribe it or explain it so her medical team to understand what she was going through. Brandy Green with her ordeal beginning on December 27, 2003 with unexplainable symptoms.
It wasn’t until April 26, 2004 her 6 centimeter wide tumor was found with tentacles having ripped through her cervics and attached to the bladder. At this moment in time through power of prayer did she start a miracle of living with glassy cell carcinoma. Which she learned later only effects three patients in the entire Southeast each year with a zero survival rate.
Some of the tips for Brandys survival was her harrowing search for promise. She surrounded herself with positive people for support, while searching for second opinions and keeping a notebook ~ journal of her experiences and answers to the tons of questions for future reference. So the questions overtime …wouldn’t become muddled with thoughts… NOW what did they tell me.
Another exacto… within this video was her persistent search to find a survivor of her type of cancer. Which started June 2004 and wasn’t until December right before Christmas did she find a present gift wrapped under the Christmas tree through the usage of a Cancer Survivor Search website and email she recieved. The message being never give up on yourself or your search for the vital answers for cancer.

With the epidemic proportions of 8,000,000 people dieing yearly globally from cancer. While 500,000 of those here in the United States, with that steadily increasing (in 1900 1:20 got cancer, 1940 1:16, 1970 1:10 and 2000 that figured climbed to 1:3.) When given the prognosis that you have cancer while faced with second opinions and constant fear. People seek options when doctors tell them nothing else can be done and to get your affairs in order… we have to allow the cancer to run it’s course.
When people enter into that fight or flight scenario …they seek whatever means they can find for that answer to cancer. I found in the aftermath it’s alot easier to discover without the stress of time weighing you down. Often for many cancer patients that avenue takes them South of the Border, with the general conclusion: “the grass might be greener.” However, unless you choose the right clinic that might be the wrong approach. You have to keep your faith and hopesomething good will come of it!!!
With one exception to that option being renown Dr. Francisco Contreras, at Oasis of HOPE. With many patients given up on by main stream medicine or red flag by insurance because age is against you. Donald Factor, son of cosmetic giant Max Factor; while in 1987 was given 4 months to live with lung cancer, so he turned to Oasis of HOPE. At Oasis of HOPE they believe in transforming negative automatic thoughts into positive energy.
What this thought process does is helps the body to heal on it’s own and what Dr. Francisco so aptly does is combine non traditional with the very nature of conventional treatment…. making radiation and chemotherapy more purposeful. While using metabolic therapy to help the body to detox and that aids the patient to renew themself. Through emotional support and spiritual fortitude. Clinic Trials at Duke University states faith is directly related to overcoming chronic illness and they also practice some of the same procedures at Duke University Integrative Center.

Researching cancer is an undaunting task, however, living with a terminally ill cancer patient in the past. Made this website a walk in the park considering that experience as my heart goes out to those that do. A nursing home is a tough choice when most seniors consider it a place to be dumped to death and their independence taken from them as they walk through the front door.
My personal experience and motivation for this website is help with the toughest parts of dealing with the most challenging parts of those experience. Sarcoma is probably one of the worse cancers a patient can garner and when that’s combine with those types usually being amongst the rarest of cancers… with little known about those types it can become emotionally taxing.
Another beacon of light is the shining example of Suzie Siegel from the Sarcoma Alliance, telling of what she went through to become a survivor as well. A former newspaper editor of the Tampa Tribune, Suzie provides support through her experiences for the MD Anderson Network and the Sarcoma Alliance.
Although another interesting way of putting mind over matter and telling yourself, “what’s wrong with having cancer and still living a normal life while prevailing is Kris Carr. Whom is a New York Best- Selling Author of Crazy Sexy Cancer and how she manages her slow ~ growing epitheliod hemangioendothelioma.
In 2005, at 41 years old, Anita Mitchell was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. Her cancer already metastasized and had seven tumors on her liver was to large to be removed surgically. After her diagnosis: Anita underwent some surgery, chemotherapy, liver resection surgery and radio frequency ablation a technique that uses a special type of electrical energy (radio frequency to heat) and kill tumor tissue. After her treatment Anita entered into the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Survivorship Programwhile learning about cancer awareness.
In building this website up from scratch, I was always open minded enough to read the best of the best books on the market. One such book: Defeat Cancer NOWby Tamara St. John whom also spent thousands of countless hours researching how cancer cells work, and also the natural approaches to health, biology, biochemistry and epidemiology. While investigating the alternative method, with proper detoxification withoutlysing symptomswhich served her well in her battle with breast cancer.

Fran Drescher, whom is an uterine cancer survivor which is the #1 GNY cancer. Believes we need to take control of our bodies, detox homes while becoming better partners with our physicians. While galvanizing as one to allow our legislators know the collective vote is louder and more powerful than the richest corporate lobbyist. As Frederick Douglas said, “power concedes nothing without demand…. it never has it never will!” She started her own movement to get others to rally around a cause.
Tandy Rice, a legendary name in The Nashville Scene; tela manager, agent to Tom T. Hall, Porter Wagner, Waylon Jennings amongst others had a setback in November 2009, while having a PSA test and told he had prostate cancer which also spread into his lymphnodes. While to this day he states his personal turning point came into his life when he was directed to the Pearl Point Cancer Foundation. While the lesson he took from this life changing events being you have – to – have courage when the chips are down to complete your bucket list.
Dr. Richard Becker, D.O., is a holistic physician from North Texas; where he and wife Cindy host YourHealthTV. In 1997, Dr. Becker became a cancer survivor himself when he overcame Hodgkins Lymphoma. Whom better to ask, because during that time he and Cindy immersed themself in the world of natural healing and today his cancer is still in remission. If you watch his show religiously like I do ~ you will start to realize the importance of supplementing during chemotherapy with antioxidants in the there after and always.
This is an option, however, when body temperature reaches these heights they can be considered quite extreme. In 1888, Dr. William B. Coley foundedColey’s Toxin. Doc Coley being a Harvard Medical School Graduate, eminent New York City surgeon and cancer researcher. Stumbled across one of the most intriquing findings ever made in cancer research, what Doc Coley discovered was cancer cannot survive in an environment of temperatures more than 40 c (107.6 f). Before going the Alternative route you should always seek the advice of a clinicopenminded to both therapies? Sharon Brockman Testimonial
One touching story that I crossed while researching every aspect for this website is the Hillary Quinn Kind case from Detroit, Michigan. Hillary was diagnosed with stage III B melanoma in October 2004 and was told 5 years would be all the time she had left. While proving them wrong by three years, Hillary developed a special relationship with Dr. Patricia LoRusso whom is developing personalized therapies today for those cancer patients with the highly agressive BRAF wild type metastatic melanoma at the Karmanous Cancer Institute. In her limited time…. Hillary confronted her health issue with bravery, courage and looked at life as a simple gift.
Cindy’s Miracle Story: God told Cindy Russell in December 2006 sometime during the upcoming year she would be all set to enter into the Pearly Gates. However that he would give her a second chance, on March 17th 2007, Cindy was diagnosed with a massive cancerous tumor (bile duct having consumed 75% of her liver.) Today considering her experience “The Journey,” after some of the nation’s top cancer centers pronounced her terminal and given six months to live. She met a doctorfrom a small valley in Pennsylvania that saved her life.
An inspiring cancer survivor story for Magician Daniel Cullen who has directed The Maze, which is a mystery performance featuring a unique brand of mentalism NOT seen in typical magic Shows. However, The Maze isn’t just about entertainment, it’s about 1,000 students @ week on College Campuses across the nation signing up ….at the show for Be The Match for a bone marrow registry.
The concept stems from it’s founder and fella magician Jim Munroe, whom being a Leukemia survivor himself knows of the intrigue of waiting, before a 19 year old female was brave enough to give him what he needed to live. Jim says, ” he was literally dying than receiving and in the darkest hour…. GOD completely changed his life.” THE Maze is a completely FREE show and NON – profit helping Leukemia patients overcome!!!
Sarcoma Survivor, Joe Ginem was only 15 years old, a budding violinist when pain in his arm and shoulder prompted a very shocking and surreal diagnosis of Osteosarcoma. Living only 25 miles away from Odessa, Florida and the Moffitt Cancer Center is was very fortunate. Because for 2 years and six days a week this hospital would be his second home. Soon realizing that a shoulder replacement would be necessary…. it was performed by one of the leading Orthopaedic Reconstructive Oncology Surgeons in the Nation.
One of the most high profile cancer fights in recent memory would have to be Farrah Fawcett as she battle Anal cancer from late 2006 until she passed away June 25, 2009. During this time she showcased cancer awareness with courage and endurance while being transparent telling her story. While batttling the disease on both sides of the Atlantic leading her to Germany as well as United States hospitals with a will and desire to live.
The most unfortunate thing… about anal cancer being so rare 2 or 3 out of 100,000 cases is its’s really hard to find information on the internet about this type of cancer. When I view videos of becoming a cancer survivor the qualities sticking out the most are those that survived are optimistic and positive by nature. Have openminds and are willing to research it for themself, can adapt to change and are willing to talk about.
In this blog post which I gradually seek out cancer survivor stories and how, they decided to make a difference in a proactive way. Telling their stories to others by either developing a website, facebook page so they could make a difference to others. It’s my belief “if ” one is willing to talk about it they might learn from others, thereby, either being the messenger or providing a message to others with awareness.
Atlanta Beer Distributor; Howard Young, whom at 42 years old in 2002. He beat the odds stating that 75% of pancreatic cancer patients die within the first year of this virtual death sentence. Seeking the expertise ofDr. Daniel Von Hoff, at the TGen Research Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. They believe starving the cancer of it’s fuel source Glutamine shuts off the fuel source for cell division.
Nashville resident and lung cancer survivor; Jenny White is a living example of battling and beating the odds. While being the Director of the Tennessee Lung Cancer Alliance Chapter, she has the opportunity to shine a light on Lung Cancerby being a living example. A Startling fact is 80 percent of those diagnosed with lung cancer are people that never smoked or former smokers who quit decades ago.
Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation started after successfully beating lung cancer herself in 2006. Her purpose was giving something back helping other patientsNOT become a victim themself. The facts are that every year 1.4 million people world wide die of lung cancer and that’s 450 people daily. With only 15% of those diagnosed survive past 5 years making it the deadliest cancer globally.
Carla Shuford, whom in 1958; at the age of 15 years old was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma that which also metastasized to her lymph nodes. Osteogenic Sarcoma, the second most common type of primary bone cancer which typically presents itself in the leg or shoulder, Since the time of her diagnosis: Carla has dedicated her life…. with one promise of following the Gershon Therapy to the letter. Happy 70th Birthday… April 21… Carla!!

Two Time Leukemia Survivor: Derrick Lucous has a telling story of faith personified and was first diagnosed when he was 5 years old. Having been pronounced cured… at 10 years old… it wasn’t until his junior year in high school that he had the leukemia flare up again. With a thought of a broken collar bone, after x-rays and blood test nothing showed up. It wasn’t until a bone marrow test did he findout the truth and a lucky break from his brother whom was a perfect match to be a marrow transplant. Today he is again considered a survivor with his motto: live like your dying.
Intravenous Vitamin C, when Donna Gudauskas of Cherry Hill, N.J., was diagnosed with colon cancer December 2007. She had surgery to remove the tumor, however, didn’t want chemotherapy/radiation and the harsh side effects that comes it. Switching to an organic diet, nutritional supplements and began receiving 45 grams of IVC (equal to 500 ~ 600 oranges worth.) While Dr. Allan Magaziner & Dr. Scott Greenberg are advocates of this at Magaziner Center of Wellness had levels of success treating cancer…. the Brind Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA…. is a worthy option.

While fighting this notorious dis-ease that is cancer without the use of conventional therapies. After learning the principles ofMaximized Living she knew she was in the right place. Dr. Ben Lerner, New York Times best – selling author and co – founder of Maximized Living states, making proactive intelligent choices and life – style changes. The average person can significantly reduce their risk factors (The Cancer Killers.)
Solitarius isn’t about treatment the medical profession provides that. What this website does is provides awareness for instances of hearing it before you hear it from your doctor through treatment. When you have knowledge of information, beforehand, through knowledge prevention treatment maybe avoided. Just think of the beneficial aspect that would have on a broken healthcare system.
Three quarters of U.S. Teens and adults are deficient in vitamin D, it’s been told…. 20 minutes in the sun each day is all one needs. To keep your daily value at proper limits, however, it’s only when the sunlight is above your head at a 45 degree angle (10 am to 2 pm) you gain that proper amount. With also according to findings…. published by the Archives of Internal Medicine.
Between 1988 and 1994, with the 45% of the 18,883 people tested having 30 ng/mL or more of vitamin D, and a decade later just 23 % of 13,369 people tested having that amount. There was anticipation that there would be some decline in overall vitamin D levels, however, the magnitude of decline in a relatively short period of time was surprising.
Adit Ginde, an assistant professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine says, “a lack of vitamin D is linked to rickets (soft weak bones in children; thinning bones in the elderly, and plays a role in heart disease, diabetes and cancer.” Also Ginde who has linked vitamin D deficiency to catching more colds, also blames sun screen following skin cancer prevention campaigns for the change.
Using sunscreen with as little as a 15 – factor protection cuts the skins vitamin D production by 99 percent, the study notes, as there are few sources of the vitamin in our diets. Exciting new research conducted at Creighton University School of Medicine in Nebraska, has revealed supplementing vitamin D and calcium can reduce your risk of cancer by an astonishing 77 percent.
This research provides strong evidence that vitamin D is the single most effective supplement against cancer. This study involved 1,179 healthy women from rural Nebraska. One group of women was given calcium (around 1500 mg daily) and vitamin D (1100 iu daily.) while another group was given a placebo. Over the four years, the group receiving calcium and vitamin D supplements showed a 60 percent decrease in cancer.
Note that…. these astonishing effects were achieved on what many nutritionist consider to be a low dose of vitamin D and the calcium supplement was probably calcium carbonate and not the high grade calcium malate, aspartate or similar forms. So what It all means? It means “if ” you take high quality calcium supplements or premium fish oil…. you might be able to achieve larger percentage reduction.
The best conclusion: is to have your blood tested for vitamin D deficiency. If it has been determined that are levels are below 70ng/mL. You might want to consider building levels up by taking 10,ooo iu’s for a short term, and then taking between 2,000 to 5,000 iu’s depending on the nature of your job (being inside or outside work.)
