Dr. Carl O. Helvie R.N., PH.

Being the  last day  of  May while going through my normal daily routine  of  gathering  facts  for  this  website.  My one  friend insinuated that you can get in alot of trouble mixing medicines.  I agree,  however,  when  it  comes to fighting cancer with chemotherapy you either believe  or  you don’t –  for  it’s damn if  you do or damn if  you don’t.  This is the reason  for no other reason I would consider the alternative before consenting to endure several rounds of chemotherapy.

It takes  finding the right coaches to win in anything you set out to do and winning a battle with cancer is the same way.  One  shining  example  of  this winning  mindset  would  be  Dr. Carl O.  Helvie  from  Hampton, Virginia.  A registered nurse with  a masters in public health  focusing on wellness  from the University of  California,  and  a  second masters degree  in public health and wellness  from John Hopkins University. With also a doctorate in public health  and  wellness  (John Hopkins University and  post doctorate study in the Divinity School at Duke University.)    www.lungevity.org

Being 80 years old presently he has  NO  chronic diseases  and  prescibed  medications, putting this  fact into context research shows 89% of all people over  age  65  have  chronic  illnesses  and  prescribed  medications. With the average 75 year old  having 3 chronic illnesses and 5 prescibed medications. Given 6 months to  live back in 1975   Dr. Carl Helvie  refused  the  toxicity of  chemotherapy, thereby, sought the use of  natural methods to heal himself

Today  38 years later,  Dr. Carl  is  believed  to  be  the  longest lived lung cancer survivor in the country. This is an awesome testimony to the power of  nutrition  and  natural therapies  for long term healing.  Dr. Carl Helvie  is the author of  two well  known comprehensive books  that  are available: You Can Beat Lung Cancer:  Using Alternative/Integrative Interventions & Healthy Holistic Aging,  being  Host to the Holistic Health Show  which  he spells out his success  formula  while still leading a vibrant life.

The Liver Cleansing Cancer Effect

Yesterday when I went into town I had an interesting conversation with  the towns pharmacist about preventing disease. He told me that his number one belief  was protecting the liver and all it’s  bodily  function over the long haul is vitally important. Through the use of  1000mg  of  Milk Thistle daily, which Milk Thistle is proven to work better than Dandelion Root  producing longevity and could possibly  protect the liver from alcoholism, disease and chemotherapy treatments.

The liver  an amazing organ in the body and probably most important, receives  25%  of  the blood  that  the heart pumps  with each beat  and  holds about one pint (13 percent) of  the body’s blood supply at any given moment. The liver performs many  functions all at once while being necessary to keep a  person well and alive. The liver makes necessary proteins in the body and this  function is called  the livers “synthetic function,”  which  many patients with liver disease have normal  function until the disease worsens.

The liver makes coagulation factors,  proteins  that help the blood clot to protect us  from bleeding.  A blood test that measures blood clotting is called PT/PTT or  pro-time (sometimes also referred to as INR.)  When  the  liver  is failing it can not make clotting  factors and the pro-time is abnormally high. With another protein that the liver makes being called albumin, this protein helps to keep  fluids in the blood stream while preventing  fluid retention  or swelling.

The Chinese consider the liver, General of the Army of the Bodies Working   Parts,  for when  it’s not  performing  properly  something  will  malfunction. When  the  liver  doesn’t  function  properly  the  albumin  will  be  low,  while other conditions such as malnutrition or loss of albumin in the stool or urine can also make the albumin lower (a vicious cycle of  health issues.)  The liver also makes bile which helps us –  absorb  food while eliminating toxins.

Bile salts which comes  from the liver  and  are dumped into the intestine  via  the  bile  duct,  helps  us  absorb  fat  in  our  diet.  When  the  liver  is  not functioning well… bile may not be made  or  pumped out adequately.  One of these substances  that  bile carries out of  the body is called bilirubin.  Which bilirubin comes  from broken down red blood cells and recycle about once in 90 days.  Patients with poor liver  function or with blockage to bile  flow can  not get rid of  bilirubin, therefore builds up in the blood stream.

One of the livers most important  functions is to detoxify the blood  from   foreign intruders. When the liver receives blood from the intestine, not only, will  it  be  full  of  nutrients,  but also,  toxins  and other  che, so beingmicals  the  liver must  filter before it enters the body’s circulation. In patients with poor liver function,  Ammonia  which is a by product of  protein metabolism, may also, accumulate while other chemicals we are unable to identify build up as well.

Cirrhosis of the liver is a chronic liver disease where much of the normal   liver is replaced by fibrous & scar tissue, along with nodules of  regenerated liver cells.  Cirrhosis can be caused  by many different conditions,  including alcohol abuse, but certainly not every case of cirrhosis  is caused by alcohol. The most common causes of  cirrhosis in the United States  and Canada now are hepatitis C, alcohol abuse and fatty liver.

All  kinds  of  cirrhosis  are  worsened  by exposure  to alcohol,  however,  in obese the rate of  nonalcoholic  fatty liver disease ranges  from 50 percent to  90 percent.  Only about  5 percent of  people with  fatty liver disease go on to develope cirrhosis.  Even a  5 percent to 10 percent loss of body weight can prevent  progression,  however,   once  cirrhosis  has  set  in,  it  usually  isn’t curable.

Nonalcoholic  fatty liver disease is commonly, but not always, caused by  being overweight. Especially extra weight in the abdomen and area I’m now working on  (as opposed to hips and thighs),  with prediabetes  and diabetes. However,  there  are other real causes,  such  as  sleep  apnea  and  untreated hypothyroidism.  Your doctor can periodically look at your liver to evaluate precursors of liver cancer and bleeding to the esophagus,  both of  which are complications of cirrhosis.

Routine Exercise for Strong Immunity

It’s far better to exercise three times daily when you have time 20 to 40 minutes than enduring 1 1/2 hour of  strenous activity  and  here is “why?” There are somethings that seem to protect us  from catching colds and  flu.  During moderate exercise immune cells circulate through your body more quickly,  thereby,  moderate exercise has been linked to a positive immune system response and  temporary boost in the production of macrophages, the cells that attack bacteria.

According  to  professor Dr. David Nieman, PHD.,  of   Applachian State  when  moderate  exercise  is  repeated  on  a  routine daily  basis.  There is a  cumulative effect leading to a long term immune response  and his research  showed those whom walk at 70 – 75 percent of their VO2 Max for 40 minutes per day. Ended up  having  half  as  many  sick days…. due  to  colds  or  sore throats as those who don’t exercise.

However, evidence supports intense exercise  for more than 90 minutes,     can make athletes susceptible to illness… up to 72 hours after high intensity endurance training.  Research  has  found  during  intense physical exertion the  body  produces  certain  hormones  that  temporarily  lowers  immunity. Cortisol  and adrenaline,  known as stress hormones;  raises blood pressure, cholesterol levels and supresses the immune system.

It’s  not only  physical stress  that  increases  the release  of  cortisol  and  adrenaline.  Psychological stress can also impair immunity  and  lead to an increase  of  colds  and  flu  infections.  Researchers  at  Ohio  State  followed people  who  had  the  stress  of  caring  for  a  loved  –  one  with  Alzheimer’s and  found  they  experienced twice  as many colds as non – caregivers.

The Metabolic Syndrome

When you think metabolism ….you have to think everybody’s is either slow/fast, acidic or aklaline  at least I do.  In order to keep it  functioning properly you have to stay active and  consume proper nutrition  (you are proverbially what you eat.)  If  you have a slow metabolism…. your body might produce more cholesterol,  thereby,  making you have to  rev  your body up…. by  doing  vigorous  exercise…. to  burn off  the excess amount      (I began at fifty doing cardio riding a mountain bicycle religiously.)

While  it’s important  to  keep  your  pH Balance  in check  because  it controls protein structures,  potassium  and calcium concentrations  for  overall nutrient metabolism  (carbohydrates  are primarily catabolized      for energy,  however,  small amounts are anabolized  by  glycogenesis.) With protein being vital  as  well,  because  when  you  don’t  get  proper amounts your body can go into three different disorders:  MARASMUS:           is characterized by tissues wasting and fluid imbalances of electrolytes, KWASHIORKOR:  caused  when  your  body  lacks  proper protein  with sufficient calories.

With the third state being much like cachexia which a cancer patient        goes  through. The metabolic syndrome x:  is a combination of  medical  disorders that when occurring together increase the risk  for developing  cardiovascular disease, cancer  and  diabetes.  Most  patients  are older,  obese with sedentary lifestyle  and having a degree of insulin resistance.  The pathophysiology regarding whether insulin resistance, obesity and  stress is often misunderstood.

It is common  for there  to  be  a development  of  central visceral  fat,    after which  adipocytes  ( fat cells)  of  the verceral  fat  increases plasma levels of  tumor necrosis  factor – alpha (TNF-a)  while altering a number      of  other substances (e.g. adiponectin, resistin and PAI-1. TNF-a has been  shown, not only, to cause the production of inflammatory cytokines, but also, possibly trigger cell signaling by interaction with a TNF-a receptor that may lead to insulin resistance  (Lavalle Metabolic Institute.)

If they’re consequences of  a  more  far reaching derangement occurs.          A number  of  systemic inflammation,  including  C-reactive protein  are  often increased as are  fibrinogen,  interleukin 6  amongst others.  Some have pointed to a  variety of causes, including increased uric acid levels caused  by  dietary  fructose.  This  fructose will  first elevate blood level  triglycerides which induce visceral fat and ultimately results in insulin resistance.

This  progression  from visceral  fat often increases  TNF-a  to insulin resistance has  parallels to human development  of  metabolic syndrome. The increase in adipose tissue also increases the number of immune cells present within,  which plays an important role in chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation  contributes  to  an  increase risk of  hypertension, arthersclerosis, cancer and diabetes.

Recent research, also indicates prolonged stress upsets the hormonal balance  of  the  hypothalamic  pituary  adrenal – axis (HPA-axis.)  and  a dysfunction here causes high cortisol levels to circulate,  which  in  affect causes raising glucose  and  insulin levels.  Which in turns causes insulin medicated effects  on adiopose tissue,  ultimately promoting visceral  fat adiposity, insulin resistance, dyshipidemia and hypertension.

Central obesity is a key  feature of  the syndrome,  however,  despite          the importance of  obesity.  People of  normal weight can also be insulin resistant and have the syndrome. Therefore, those whom are physically inactive  or lead sedentary lifestyles…. are more prone  to  reduced  HDL cholesterol  and  a trend toward increased triglycerides, blood pressure,  and glucose in the genetically susceptible.

Preventing Cancer is Key to Success

With  the  blog post  for May  and  April  being  cancer treatment  and survivorship.  This website isn’t about telling doctors how to treat cancer patients.  It’s  a  website  that  searches  for answers  and  is  indicative  of   prevention and  what we should know  to prevent cancer  from occurring    to us  and  reducing your risk.  With  the  number of  new cancer patients expected to more than double  from  1.36 million  in  2000  to  almost  3.0 million  in 2050  it could be a devastating problem.

Between 1970  and  2012 despite conflicting reports of cancer rates decreasing  with improvements  in cancer prevention,  early detection         and  treatment.  With  the number of  cancer patients  also steadfastly increasing this could cause a problem for a broken health care system. However  in 1970,  the United States population  was 203,302,031 with            a total mortality rate of  330,972  or  162.8 per 100,000  or  907  deaths   daily that trend increases each year.

While 20 years later 1990,  the United States population increased              to 248,709,873 with a total mortality of  505,322 or 203.2 per 100,000       and 1384 deaths per day the problem escalated. Until NOW instead of decreasing like some would have you believe the numbers climb. Just         last  year  when  we  seen  the United  States  population  increased  to  313,933,954 on July 4th. The mortality rate of cancer went to 577,190           or 215.1 per 100,000 and 1581 deaths daily.

Recombinant bovine growth hormone  (rBGH) which is a synthetic             (man- made)  hormone approved  by the FDA  in 1993,  however,  is not permitted  in the more stringent areas of  the  world  (European Union, Canada and some other countries.) Bovine Growth Hormone, which is      also known  as bovine somatotropin  (BST)  is the natural  form of  this hormone in cattle.

Also Recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH)  or recombinant                bovine  somatropin  (rBST)  refers  to  a  hormone  made  in  a  lab  using genetic technology.  Concerns  about health issues  have  focused  on two main issues persist. First cows treated with rGHB tend to develope more udder infections (mastitis.)  So  does  the  antibotics  given  cows  lead  to more antibotic – resistant bacteria.

Secondly does drinking milk  from rBGH treated cows increase blood levels  of  growth hormone IGF-1,  a hormone  that  normally  helps  some types of cancer cells grow.  Some studies indicate  that  IGF-1 levels at the high end of  the normal range can influence  the developement  of  certain tumors.  With some studies suggesting adults who drink milk have about 10%  higher levels  of  IGF-1 in their blood levels than those drinking little    or no milk.

However,  this same  finding  has also been reported  in  people whom drink  soymilk  which in my opinion is false.  Suggesting that the increase     in IGF-1 may not be specific to cow’s milk, and may be caused  by  protein,  minerals, or some other factors in milk unrelated to rBGH. There has been no direct comparsion of  IGF-1 levels  in  people who drink ordinary cow’s milk versus milk stimulated by rBGH.

When  you  consider  rBGH  in  our  Standard American  Western Diet combined with sugar,  sugar substitutes which can be addictive. Than add processed  foods with ingredients you can’t pronounce and  fluoride in our water supply the onslaught is on.  In this balancing act of  prevention. You best  take  out  some  of  the bad  and  add good to it ( vegetables and  fruits2 to 3  grams  of  fish oil5,000 iu  of  vitamin D3a  great  multi – vitamincurcumin  or  turmeric,  with inulin  (fibre.)  and anti oxidants  which are cornerstones in your diet. This might be an insurance policy of  policies to overcome the odds of  getting cancer in the  first place.

One of  the main keys  for preventing cancer  was discovered wayback       in  1931,  when  Noble laureate Dr. Otto Warburg;  work became one of  the most effective treatments for cancer. What he discovered was healthy cells burns  oxygen  for  energy.  His main discovery  wayback than was cancer cells  produces  energy  by  fermenting  sugar  in  an  acidic environment ~ low in oxygen to survive.

Cancer  only survives  when  oxygen is reduced  and  the body becomes more acidic  and  sugar is  present to  feed  the cancer.  Therefore,  in 1994 while watching his wife sufferthe  debilitating  ravages  of  chemotherapy and cancer itself.  Bill Henderson researched  and  discovered  the  5 steps     of  Curing Cancer with  1. increasing oxygen levels   2. reduce sugar levels     3. lower acidicity levels  4. boost the immune system   5. eliminate toxins.

While  being  one  of  the leading guru’s  of  Integrative Medicine in the  United States at  The University of  Ariona.  Dr. Andrew Weil  has a belief   there  are  many  elements  of  fruits  and  vegetables  protecting  us  from  the  harmful effects  of  inflammation.  What  he  showcases  is  the  many  aspects  of  inappropriate inflammation being  the root  cause  of  serious diseases killing and disable people prematurely (cardiovascular disease, Alzheimers and cancer begin as inflammatory prophecies.)

Speaking about the alternative  from the book  Outsmart Your Cancer  written by Tanya Harter Pierce comes this intriquing information  from    the 1930’s. Dr. James V. Sheridan, Detroit Institute of  Cancer Research developed  a  formula called  Entelev,  which  in  1984  another  company begin making a similiar product named Cancell; which wasn’t approved    for use in the United States.

However,  mixtures  similiar  to Cancell  such  as  Cantron & Protocel        are  available  as dietary supplements.  Protocel being a relatively equal inexpensive counter part appears  to  be great  for disabling the energy – producing mechanism of  the trophoblast. Which is a cell line that many believe is the basis  for cancer. So is it a cure for cancer?  A False Hope or      a good preventive protocol for cancer — you do the research – you be the judge!!!

Additionally,  Protocel  has compounds  that helps  the body dispose         of  dead  or  necrotic tumor tissue.  This  is  critical  because  one  can die  from toxic poisoning from necrotic or dead cancer tissue (however, with   any treatment both conventional or alternative — one should always do there own research  and  weigh the optionsafter getting a second  and sometimes third opinion.)

The Com’mon Denom’inator

In this equation it’s taking the difference spotting what’s in common and seeing  the remainder.  When you consider  the United States  having spent $200 Billion Dollars  on cancer research since the early 1970’s and the  five year survival rate  for all diagnosed with cancer has risen  from 50 percent in the 1970’s to 65 percent today.  Are we  really  getting our moneys worth when you look at the  Top Ten Cancers  that kill the most people?

Within  the top tag   18  Major Types  of  Cancer  which  differ  from this       blog post,  having many of  the best links and options to speak of  that was found on the internet.  If  others know of  anymore  please comment  at the bottom of this blog. When someone is looking  for Answers to Cancer there are many websites and personal blogs you find that have technical jargon with little substance   (Been There ~ Done That.)

The Ten Deadilest… kill  “eighty percent”  of  all cancer patients and also represents  the severity  of  this  disease.  Although  procedures  continually improve,  in  many  areas we need to increase the awareness  of  knowledge    to  prevent   further increases  to  our  health care cost  in  the United States. So within the future when programs are cut “we” can avoid a humantarian effort  of  keeping cost under control  if  we  find the causes and effects!!!

      I.  Lung  and  Bronchial Canceractually  there  are  two  major  types   non – small  cell  and  small  cell  lung  cancer.  With  small  cell  lung  cancer spreading more quickly (with more than 160,000 Americans are expected to die from lung cancer this year.)

II.  Colon  and  Rectal Cancercolon cancer grows in the tissues  of  the colon,  whereas  rectal  cancer  grows  in  the  last  few  inches  of  the  large intestine near the anus.  Most cases begin as a clump of  small benign cells called  polyps  and colorectal cancer will kill 52,000 Americans this year.

III.  Breast Cancer:  being  the  second  most  common cancer in women after skin cancer  in  the United States.  This  cancer  usually  forms  in  the ducts that carry milk in women and in rare cases can occur in men as well and breast cancer  will kill 40,ooo Americans this year.   The Estrogen Connection.

IV.  Pancreatic Cancer:  begins in the tissue of  the pancreas which aids   digestion and metabolism regulation. Detection and early intervention are difficult because it progresses stealthly and pancreatic cancer rapidly kills 37,000 Americans each year in the United States.

     V.  Prostate Cancer:  the  second leading  cause  of  death  in  men  after lung and bronchial cancer.  Prostate  cancer  usually  grows  slowly  in  the prostate gland that produces semsual fluid to transport sperm. While some remain  confined  to  the  gland,   and  are  easy  to  treat;   others  forms  of  prostate cancer are agressive quickly killing 28,000 Americans annually.

VI.  Leukemiathe  story  of  leukemia,  however,  it  affects  the  blood – forming tissues  of  the body.  Such  as bone marrow  and  lymphatic system while  resulting  in  an  over production  of  the  abnormal  white blood cells. Leukemia types  are classified  how  fast they progress  and which cells they affect.  Acute Myelogonous Leukemia  which  kills  the  most  and  combined   23,500 Americans die each year.

VII.  Non – Hodgkin Lymphoma:  this  cancer  affects  the  lymphocytes, which  are  a  type  of  white  blood  cell.   That  is  characterized  by  larger lymph  nodes,   fever  and  weight loss.  There  are  several  types  of  Non – Hodgkin Lymphoma categorized  by whether  the cancer is  fast – or – slow growing and which type of lymphocytes are affected. Non – Hodgkin being deadlier then Hodgkin Lymphoma kills 20,000 Americans yearly.

VIII.  Liver  and  Intrahepatic Bile Duct:  which  is  the  most  common   form  of  cancer  globally,  however,   is  uncommon  in  the  United States.  The  rates  are rising  and  usually  spreads  to  the  liver  from  else where     in the body. A closely related cancer,  intrahepatic bile duct cancer which occurs  in the duct  that  carries  bile  from the liver  to  the small intestine with nearly 20,500 Americans who die  of  liver cancer each year.

IX.  Ovarian Cancer:  being the number  four leading cause of  death            in women.  With the median age of  women diagnosed being 63 years old. This cancer is easily treated but harder to detect in early stages, however, recent research has brought to light early syptoms being abdominal pain, urgency in urination  and  pelvic discomfort with 15,500 women expected     to die of ovarian cancer this year alone.

   X.  Esophageal Cancer:  starting  in the cells  lining the esophagus which     is the tube that carries  food  from the throat to the stomach. Which usually occurs in the lower part of  the esophagus  affecting more men than women and  esophageal cancer  will  kill  14,500 Americans in 2013.

Management 0f Cancer

When you look  at  cancer biology  and  the  treatments  for cancer this information  can  be  overwhelming.   What  I’ll  attempt  to  do  in  the blog post  for May  is  build  on this video library.  With  some  of  the treatments being surgery  (cyber knife),  radiation therapy  and  chemotherapy.   The choice of therapy depending upon the location and grade of the tumor and stage of the disease.     Chemotherapy.com

I’m not going to spend  much time  blogging about something that’s not interesting to most people. With surgery, radiation and chemotherapy we all no the drawbacks to those procedures.  However,  in this section of  the website; I ‘m going to come up with a video library  of  some of the newest options  that  I  find  interesting  (immunotherapymonoclonal antibody, hormonal  therapiestargeted  therapies  and  angiogenesis  inhibitors            et cetera.)

In  the  mixed – up  world  of  cancer treatment  two blogs  within  this website  seems  gratifying to me.  Like “severe depression,”  which I battle during the period of my fathers terminal illness. Which my  family doctor told me was a gamble right the  first time with anti depressants (it’s when   you start mixing them does the patient lose.)

Within the Kris Carr and Chris Wark Story you read of success stories generated  from natural alternatives.  However,  when they both did their own research because they’re thinking  ” why”  put your life into someone elses  hands they’re busy people.  Both decided to go with alternative over conventional and stuck with the plan by NOT switching back or changing their minds with successful outcomes!!!

MY  GENERAL  BELIEF:  if  I  had to endure a course  of  chemotherapy.         I would have to get a second opinion ~ lab work  with  a  laboratory some what  like  Rational  Therapeutics,  Long  Beach, California offers.  Which matches your own cancer cells to the exact combination of chemotherapy before  ever  consenting.  It’s  my opinion  doing  this  you  may  need  less chemotherapy  and  it’s an exact science.

With this said:  I would also seek a “Holistic Physician,” whom has a background in dealing  with cancer patients under going chemotherapy.     So they can better  assist  the cancer patient  deal  with  the negative side     of chemotherapy if your main oncologist doesn’t recommend this service      to you (arnica ~ mouth ulcers, ginger ~ nausea, bell pollen ~ fatigue and   the virtue  of  metho jasmonate?)

Palliative Cancer Care

Patients under going cancer treatment often experience,  not only,   nausea, pain and discomfort from their disease, but also, potentially debilitating side effects  caused  by  their  treatment.  Chemotherapy without  supplementation  is  wrong,   seek  the  advice  of  a  medical professional who is engaged in palliative care.

The goal of palliative care is to prevent or treat, as early as possible    known  side  effects  caused  by  treatment of  the  disease.  Also called comfort care,  and symptom management;  it should include any  and          all psychological,  social  and  spiritual problems (in America) that is related to the disease or it’s treatment.

Most patients who do not receive adequate palliative care usually           turn to dietary supplements advertised  as having anti cancer effects             or being supportive of general health. Frequently without consulting               a  health care professional.  These  supplements  are  often  herbs  or         other natural product.

A common  false  belief  is that… if  it’s natural… it  must be safe,”                said  Dr. Barre  Cassileth;   Cheif  of  the  Medicine  Science  Services                at  Memorial Sloan – Kettering Cancer Center.  However  herbs  and          other dietary supplements are biologically active compounds. They frequently  have  negative  adverse  interactions  with  prescription pharmeaceuticals (this information  from NCI Bulletin.)

Furthermore I have known patients from watching YourHealthTv               and Dr Richard Becker.  Whom himself being a cancer survivor that preaches  the  importance  of  antioxidants  and  probotics  to  keep a  strong immune system. Chemotherapy itself generates  free radicals            and anti oxidants assist the good healthy cells from dispair.

While  probotics  assist  the healthy cells  of  your digestive lining              survive the onslaught  of  this  dreadful poison.  Which is vitally key               for your survival of this dreadful treatment. We in the Miami Valley             Ohio are blessed having  Dr. Van Merkle living in our neighborhood.             Dr. Merkle  has extensive experience helping countless patients with    various diseases overcome.  These two cancer patients (kidney  and       breast)   are  examples  of   those  whom  he  had  assisted  with  his   elaborate  blood testing procedures.

The Cancer Hodge Podge

If you had to live with and watch a love one die of this dreadful disease   you would change your stance on this one.  Canadian Researchers,  at the University  of  Alberta  found  a simple drug  that might  be  a  cure  all  for cancer.  However,  the major pharmaceutical companies want exclusivity and  can’t get it ~ it has no value on the market because they can’t patent this miracle drug.

Dr. Evangelos Michelakis has employed dichloroacetate  (DCA)  which          is  currently used  to  treat metabolic disorders.  So there is no concern of    side effects  or  about   it’s   long term  effect,  this  drug  doesn’t  require  a patent. So this means anybody can buy it now… it’s employed widely and cheaply  because  it’s  already  on  the  market.  While Canadian Scientists  tested   DCA  on human cells  and it killed lung,  breast,  brain cancer cells and left healthy cells alone.

In human bodies there is a natural cancer  fighting human cell,  which        is the mitochondria;  however,  they need  to  be  triggered  to  be  effective. Scientists  used  to think  that mitochondria cells were damaged  and  thus  uneffective against cancer.  So they used to  focus  on  glycolysis,  which is  less effective in curing cancer and more wasteful.

Thereby, the drug manufacturers  focused on this glycolysis method to fight cancer.  This  on  the  other  hand  doesn’t  rely  on  glycolysis instead   on  mitochondria,  while  triggering  the mitochondria  to  fight  the  cancer  cells. The side effect of this action is it rectivates a process called apoptosis. You see,  the mitochondria contains an all – too – important self destruction  button that can’t pressed in cancer cells.

Without  it,  tumors  grow  larger  as  cells  refuse  to  be  extinquished,   while  fully  functioning mitochondria,  thanks to DCA can once again die. With glycolysis  turned off,  the body produces less lactic acid;  so the bad tissue around cancer cells won’t break down and start new tumors.

CANCER is Fungus

When I see  Italy’s cancer mortality rates  the same as The United States   it makes me think  we as a nation  aren’t doing anything special.  Also when we consider one of their oconologist  “silly”  that’s  a major discredit to him. Dr. Tullio Simoncini see’s cancer as a fungus much to the disdain to our own doctors here in the states. He seems to think…. all tumors are white in color, whereas,  some are brownish colored,  tan or greenish in color.

Although it is true…. that the centers of tumors are often soft and mushy, that’s because they have grown  faster than it’s blood supply. Leaving dead cells in the middle  and  an active,  growing  front of  malignant cells  on the edges. There is no real mystery as to “why” tumors appear this way, it  just sometimes  the  center  of  tumors  become  secondarly  infected  because of dead cells.

Uncommonly that infection can even include fungus which explains the tumors need  for glucose.  Because a cancer patient is immuno suppressed, even in tumors that are not white because they are made of  fungus.  They are white because that’s the color  of  it’s  main constituents,  in particular the reactive connective tissue.

Therefore most medical professionals think that Simonsilly theory that tumors are  fungus  just  makes  him silly.  However,  the one theory of  his that  doesn’t make him silly  in my eyes  is sodium bicarbonate  or  baking soda’s influence on tumors.  First used  on Gennaro Sangermaro (in 1983). Medical research suggest cancer is based and caused by low oxygen levels   pH balance in cells or tumor hypoxia.

HOW baking …soda influences tumor oxygenation… it releases CO2 or carbon dioxide which is a dilator of blood vesssels or vasodilator. It is also crucial  for release of  oxygen in cells due to the Bohr Effect  and  this a key factor that increases the oxygen transport to cancer cells. Cancer patients breath differently than healthy people.

This overbreathing  or  hyper ventilating causes cancer patients to have lower CO2 levels in the arterial blood and reduced oxygen levels. Therefore oxygen therapies can be beneficial to cancer patients. The Buteyko method can help cancer patients while having tumors simply disappear.  Knowing this doesn’t surprises me, because the patients that are most active usually outlast their sedentary counter parts.
