Early to Bed… Early to Rise

Galen and Hippocrates to Mel Greaves,  not much, has changed in our knowledge of knowing.  However, in my first blog of August Laura Rozek       a Molecular Epidemologist at the University of Michigan discusses, “how  cancer results  since  1960  have  stayed  steadfast.”   Whereas,  she states, “in other countries where they can’t afford treatment….  they  have  move forward with “preventive methods” of dealing with epigenetic changes of this dreadful disease.”         World Without Cancer!!!!

Then learning from Dana Dolinoy, Ph.D. Searle Assistant Professorship      in Public Health  at  the  University  of  Michigan School  of  Public Health. Discusses DNA methylation  being  a  crucial  part  of  normal  organismal development, cellular  differentation  and  how  environmental  issues  can decrease gene expression. Abberrant DNA methylation patterns have been associated with a large number of human malignancies.

Abberrant DNA while being found in two distinct forms hypermethylation and  hypomethylation  compared  to  normal  tissues.  Hypermethylation which  typically occurs  at  the CpG islands  in  the promoter region  and  is  associated with gene inactivation.  Whereas,  hypomethylation  has  been  implicated in the development and progression of cancer through different mechanisms.

TROPHOBLAST Thesis of Cancer:  through the work  of  Dr. John Beard    and  Dr. William Donald Kelley.  Dr Nicholas Gonzalez  having  a  clinic  in New York while treating patients with  a  cancer diet therapy that includes pancreatic enzymes,  a host  of  natural compounds  and  vitamins.  With  a belief that like a trophoblast fetus…. cancer cells divide rapidly into a mass of undifferentiated cells.

Therefore,  unlike stem cells that’s in our body’s to act like healing cells   and rush to a site of inflammation. While transforming into the type of cell  required  to  repair  the  particular  problem.   When  the  wound  is  healed  sometimes these trophoblast  are  not  switch back to normal cells.  Instead continue to produce more and more undifferentiated cells.

Dr. Beard,  back  in  the  day  believed estrogen maintained these cancer like cells.  Whilst pancreatic enzymes  like trypsin and chymotryspin either switches  these  back  to  normal  cells  or  could  in  some  way  attack  them. While enabling the immune system to recognize and neutralize them.

In simple English…. this means cancer is the growth of normal tissues, however,  at the wrong time  in  place.  It progresses because of the lack of cancer  digesting enzymes  in  the  body  and  through  the  pancreas  these enzymes are the primary cancer fighters in the body.  So  the  best  way  to attack cancer cells is to get pancreatic enzymes to the cancer site and then inhibit the growth.

We  metabolize  hormones  in  two phases called simply Phase 1  and  2 connected by a metabolic pathway between metabolites…. which vitamins, minerals and enzymes regulate these pathways.  Think  of  enzymes  as  the driving force:  some move slowly  and  others rather rapidly  (genetics and nutrients determine their speed  e.g., if there is a metabolic rush hour that  is  caused  by  medications  and  other  toxins  (orange barrels)  metabolic  traffic jams  (menopause) progestrone estrogen balance result.

Which pathway you decide to travel determines the state of your health. Therefore driving down  the  2-hydroxy (estrone) pathway decreases your levels  of carogenic materials  (orange barrels)  you  will  encounter  along  the  way.  The  second  16-hydroxy  pathway  produces the “bad estrogen” metabolites that can cause breast cancer.

Thirdly,  is the 4-hydroxy pathway  that’s  associated  with even higher   incident  rates  of cancer.  So it seems rather obvious that what you would want to encounter (if your a women) is more “good estrogen” than “bad.” Hence forth the foods you consume in your diet does have an influence on the types  of hormones you display.  Cruciferous  vegetables  to  a  certain extent has a regulating influence,  however,  when  you have health issues sometimes it takes over the counter supplementation  (Diindolylmethane and Inositol hexa-phosphate) to influence the enzymatic pathway.

After  all  that…. Andreas Moritz  elaborates  on  his   three main causes theory,  congestion,  especially congestion  in  the  lympathic system,  also  deficiency of vitamin D  and  irregular sleep patterns. Andreas’  belief that over indulgence  of  red  meat  is  one  of  the  main  causes…. which I agree with. Your  digestive  system  can  only  digest 20%  of  what  your  average person trys to consume at one time.

Also Moritz believes, vitamin D  controls 2,500 genes in your body and       it is the most influential  hormone.  Andreas states, “that it  is  absolutely  powerful  and  keeps your immune system healthy  and  strong.  You can’t have a healthy immune system without vitamin D and restoring the levels would prevent 77% of all cancers.  Thirdly,  lack of sleep or irregular sleep patterns  reduces melatonin.”

Melatonin is produced by the pineal gland…. best at certain times of    night between 9:30 pm and peak between midnight  and  1:00am.  What  melatonin  controls  is  genes  life  cycle  and  that  in  itself  is  important.   With inadequate levels it causes cells to live longer  which then can cause       a different dividing mechanism.  The  longer  cells  live the more  apt they    are to turn cancerous… this theory might be proven when you take a look   at the differences between nurses with an irregular sleeping pattern  and blind people studies.

Lastly,  Dr. Leonard Coldwell believes every conceivable cancer type can  be cured  within 2 to 16 weeks  simply  through spontaneous healing  and  I have read this theory by more the one.  The moment you rid the body of and acidosis  state  in  your  blood,  he  states, and it becomes alkalized and then oxygen rich is the moment cancer ceases to be. Your typical pH balance has a range of  zero to 14 with 7 being neutral…. 7.35 normal and 7.5 to produce healing.  Paul Nison’s Raw Food Diet.    The Only Answer To Cancer!!!!

Looking Back – Moving Forward

When I look back and see what has been accomplished….I  feel  it  might    be more  than  most  first time visitants whom enter into this website. Allow me to spell it out: in December blog post that included New Years Resolution and the dangers of smoking cigarettes.  Which  might  just be the single most important cancer prevention measure in this website.

While the blog post  “It was Leiomyosarcoma,”  pin pointed   finding the best possible search for the type of cancer you have. At the Kimmel Sarcoma Center @ John Hopkins University  whom  see  more sarcoma patients in one day than most Major Institutions see in one year.  Also in January what was explained was brief orientation into Integrative Medicine  while concluding Vital Research Links…. US News & World Reports Top 16 websites & videos.

January blog post  introduced  the  visitant  to  some  of  the best doctors from around the world in Doctor – Doctor Please.  While February showcase the difference between the  America Amish versus Native American and also going to longest lived places in the world blog post and Karma in the World. Then placing  an  informative  Abortion blog post…. showing  that  Abortion kills more Americans each year then Cancer.

While traveling into the Beehive State for facts about the Mormon Doctrine and Utah’s amazing low cancer statistic.  Concluding  the  month  with  the vitamin D Paradox that showcases the importance of the major hormone.

Then strolling into May…. we  strolled into the  facts  while checking out Traditional Chinese Medicine in the blog Circle the Wagon. Then researched Aloe Vera and Oregano P73 in Plain and Simple or Maybe not,  while headed to  Arizona, also  Germany  while looking  for  the alternatives  and answers  to  the  world wide epidemic.  Also  in  Hypochondriac  having  seen  that we can’t be worried about everything and only be concerned about the facts.

In  the month  of  May  we  finished  with   “why”   Duke, U.S.F.C. and the University of Arizona  and  UC San Diego  are  revamping  into  some  of  the methods  of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also “why”  in the Mediterrenean region has some  of the better cancer rates in the world  and  the importance in avoiding chronic inflammation.  Also in  Know the Risk Factor  we took a look at the side effects of supplements.

A Different Avenue

My July Blog Post brought forth the importance of nutrition in preventing cancer.  Where as  my  August Blog Post  will bring  to the fore front  some of the information we will need to help us better understand cancer period… in my Level Five Blog Post.  My main goal:  will try to bring you less links so it doesn’t appear to be a cancer link farm…. with greater content.

That’s the challenge that presents itself,  however,   for now in this blog  I would like  to change directions  for a bit…. and take a different avenue.  One that explains the importance of  “Never Giving Up,”  I have a friend  that  has diabetes  and  simply  by  walking unlike Forrest Gump did in the movie.  He walks two miles a day…. he  keeps  his  blood  count  in  check  and  stays off insulin.

However,  for a person  with Multiple Sclerosis  facing the challenges of  neurological symptoms,  including changes in any sensations,  such as loss of sensitivity  or  tingling,  pricking  or  numbness,  muscle weakness  or the very difficulty in moving with coordination and balance can be troubling in itself.         Multiple Sclerosis Affects Everybody!!!!

This doesn’t even mention the problems…. one can encounter with their speech  or  even  in  swallowing,  visual problems,  cognitive impairment of varying degrees  and  emotional syptoms  of  depression  or in mood swings. Thereby, this blog post and in any future ones, hopefully, the links that I put into them will helpout emmensely.

Let’s take a look at how MS occurs, thereby, being a result of some of the combinations  of  differenting  genetics  abnormalities,  environmental  and infectious factors,  and  quite  possibly  cardio  vascular  problems.  The risk of acquiring MS, is also higher in relatives of a person with the disease than if your just general population,  especially in the case of parent, sibling and children.

MS has an overall familial recurrence rate  of  20%  so this indicates that susceptibility  is  partly polygenically driven.  Apart  from  familial  studies, specific genes have been linked with MS; therefore, diiferences in the human leukocytes antigen (HLA) syatem – groupings of genes in chromosome 6 that serves as the Major Histo Compatibility complex (MHC) in humans increase the probability of suffering MS.

Thereby,  the  most consistent finding is the Association between MS and alleles  of  MHC  defined  as  DR15  and  DQ6… while  other  loci  have  shown  a protective effect, such as HLA – C554 and HLA – DRB1. MS is more common in people whom live farther from the equator suggesting decrease vitamin D production.

While vitamin D intake has been the main biological mechanism used to explain the higher risk amongst those less exposed to the sun. Inflamation also is a hallmark of the disease and the part that sun exposure has on that. One must remember also the effect of low vitamin D plays on the formation of inflamation from past blogs to see the reasoning behind this theory.

The  inflamatory  process  is  caused  by  T-cells,  a  kind  of   lymphocyte which plays an important role in the body’s defenses. In MS patients, T-cells gain entry into the brain via disruptions in the blood – brain barrier… which could be a major role in the development of the disease.  While  further leaks form in the blood – brain barrier,  which  in  turns  causes a number  of  other damaging effects;  such  as  swelling,  activation  of  macrophages  and  other destructive patterns.

While gout occurs less frequently MS patients….  this could statistically explain lower levels of uric acid having a profound effect on MS, when you compare them to normal individuals. This leads to the theory that uric acid protects aginst MS, although it’s importance remains unknown.

What the  HOT TIPS  for July brings the visitant are the 16 best preventive    tips on the internet. Although  medicine  isn’t  an  exact  science,  and  some might consider it an art.  Everybody  has  a unique  and  different  picture…. what  B-12  levels  work  for  some  might take  a  little more  or less  to work optimally  for another…. iron affects 70 different genes and the recognition  of cells.

In these  Sixteen  Tips  for  July…. somebody might stop,  think  and  say,      “oh yeh  and  that’s all it will take….  well  isn’t  that  alot.”  However,  once    you start reading through them…. you  begin  to  NOTICE  it’s  all  relative.      The main point being proper vitamins, minerals, enzymes, calcium levels. With protein, good carbs, probiotics and fats  ( omega 3 to 6 ratio )  while including those all important antioxidants and avoiding sugar being your  keys to success.

While  your  speed surfing  through each  blog post  for  July  finding the answers for your questions  and  beyond  you quickly observed the pattern   and what part nutrition plays in the prevention of chronic disease….

    16. Glycemic – Satiety Index: explains eating the  “good carbs” for             their fullness factor and nutritional value.

    15. Vitamin D prevents cancer: while some health care experts will tell      you a half day and others say, “15  to  30 minutes  per  day  fortifies your        need of 20,ooo iu for this essential hormone in your body?”

     14. Nitric Oxide is a Key too: results from the consumption of protein          in your diet and it’s end product.

     13. Is It Really For Me: talks the importance of vitamin C…. and being          water soluble you can’t get to much because you will only excrete it.

     12. Enzyme Therapy: most can be had from diet and consuming raw vegetables and fruits but enzyme supplements are a thought.

     11. Alkaline & Acid Balance: can be achieved by the good vegetables            and fruits that are included in your nutritional diet.

     10. Dysbiosis & Probiotics: all disease originates from with-in your intestines where 80% of your immune sytems lies.

       9. Specific Dynamics: Thermical Effect is a drawback when you over consume to many calories and don’t burn them off quickly enough.

       8. Medicinal Mushroom: including them in your diet is only half of it          in supplement form I believe would be beneficial for cancer patients.

       7. Unregulated Hormonal Activity: while keeping it all in check through blood test can be extremely beneficial for the prevention of cancer.

       6. Epilepsy & Ketogenic Diet: the importance of the high fat & low carb diet under the supervision of a medical professional helps reduc seizures.

        5. Calcium Cancer Connection: the relationship of calcium and cancer helps keep the body in an alkaline state holding 20 times as much oxygen.

        4. Mystical Power of the Sea: in this blog I seeked the challenge of taking  a rather dull subject Omega 3’s and tryed to make it exciting.

        3. Malnourishment: you may think your not malnourished, however,         if you don’t have the proper levels of nutrients you are.

        2. Freedom From Worry: I titled this blog post proper because when your partaking of the vital antioxidants and know it…. you free of worry.

        1. Sugar Is Our Poison: When you limit yourself from the sweet stuff you just took a step in the right direction…. many different ways.

Glycemic…. versus…. Satiety Index

Medical publications support the thesis of high glycemic diets, which were established back  in the1980’s increases the risk for various types of cancer. So is it important to monitor your diet for low glycemic index foods.  Myself     I think  it’s nearly impossible  for  anybody  to sit over the long haul and try figuring out the complexity of a glycemic index diet.

First thing is a low glycemic  “good carb”  low fat diet  combines  optimal amounts of protein….  fiber and is generally considered healthy. Therefore  we must always remember the difference between   “Fast Acting”   refined  carbohydrates, and the  “slower performing”  complex carbohydrates. Also  an important point to make here…. is  some people confuse   “carbs”    with  “sugar” and categorize all carbohydrates the same.

This is a  “BIG MISTAKE,”   although,   “sugar is simple carbohydrates” better known as refined carbohydrates…. NOT  all carbs are created equal. However,   complex  carbohydrates,   such  as,  legumes,  vegetables,  fruit  and  whole grain.  Are  generally  “LOW glycemic foods,”   that  is  rich  in nutrients that are extremely important in nutritional support.

That  said,   what  the  glycemic  index  does  tell  you  is   HOW   quickly          50 grams of carbohydrates from a specific food,  will turn into blood sugar compared to  50 grams  of  table sugar  or  white bread.  While  using  bread  as  a barometer  because when  it’s fully digested  in  your  stomach  it  turns  completely into sugar.

Therefore….  let’s look at the fallacy of the glycemic index briefly…. e.g.     50 grams  of  carrot carbohydrate  has  a  glycemic index of 131 compared to white pasta having a 71 in the glycemic index.  This  might  be  a  misleading  account that carrots  are  an  unhealthy food  and  that  it raises blood sugar faster  than white pasta.  However,  one  whole  carrot  (a serving)  contains only 4 grams of carbohydrates; while one cup of white pasta (a serving) has 40 grams of carbohydrates.

This means  the glycemic load  which  adjust glycemic index  for  serving    size, is much lower for carrots.   A serving of carrots has a glycemic load of  5.2, where as a serving of white pasta (1 cup) is very high at 28.  Therefore,    in  order to have the same glycemic load from carrots…. one would have to eat nearly TWO pounds of carrots.

What the above stated example shows is HOW the glycemic index can be misleading  (just because a food has a high glycemic index does NOT mean     it  will  raise  blood  sugar  quickly  when  eaten  in  normal  size  portions.) Glycemic Index  and  Load  are  important  because  research  states eating higher glycemic diets; while eating more simple sugars increases your risk   of  several types of cancer.

Also think of this as being similiar to “bad fats” and  “good fats” because everyone needs some  “good fats”  to maintain normal physiology  and  also similarly  “good carbs”  are critical as well.  Remember: that glycemic index helps determine HOW quickly food is digested and absorb… while glycemic  load measures HOW intake of a carbohydrate affects blood sugar levels.

Therefore,  the notion  that  high GI foods leads  to  obesity ultimately rest    on assumption Glycemic Index equals Satiety Index (SI) and what the satiety index provides is a “BUZZWORD” for the state of  fullness factor.  However, what  the  satiety index  does  is  tell  you  which  foods  turn  off  appetite the quickest…. what the satiety index does is take a food that makes you full and satisfied and compares it to food that makes you feel empty and wanting.

Susanna Holt whom developed the satiety index…. super imposed taking  240 – calorie portions of popular foods  and  by ranking them accordingly to how  they compare with a slice of white bread. Which she gave a ranking of   100 just like  in  the  glycemic index  which  is  WHY  both scale  are so often confused. However,  some what differently  her  guage  will  tell  you that by eating each food  HOW quickly it will take you to fill up.

Thereby, Oatmeal  has  a  high satiety index level  at  209  and  a doughnut  ranks at 68,  interestingly,  240 – calories  of  boiled potatoes  rank highest  at 323 yet french fries score just a 116.   Therefore…. when you consumed either examples – you tell me which makes you feel fuller quicker after eating either  oatmeal versus a doughnut and boiled potatoes versus french fries.  Lead by this example  and  you will soon get the jest of this story and what I’m trying to explain in a very difficult topic to write about.

Research, also discovers, that when you develope the habit of eating salty,  sour or sweet, it activates a center of your brain that’s habit  forming. This is why  some  people  don’t  feel  full  after a savory meal  until  after  they  have desert  or  end up saying, “I gotta save room for desert.”  Therefore, once you turn on an appetite center you must always eat until it registers fullness  and  when you turn on many centers all at once you must eat until they’re all full.

HOT  TIP  #16  for  July:  I realize nobody will stand before a meal with a  calculator and count  “carbs” each day.  I’m sure NOT going to, however, just a reminder here of the  “good carb”  and  “bad carb”  theory.  While  straying more toward the good side of the carbohydrate measuring stick  and  stick to it for good health.

WHY Vitamin D Prevents Cancer

The Vitamin D Paradox blog post…. was a blog post that strictly gave links, hopefully,  that  showed  the  difference between natural  and  supplementary forms of the vitamin. The reasons “why” when supplementing with vitamin D which supposely being a fat soluble vitamin it’s toxic.  While  the  latter  being natural it is absorb more slowly…. so one doesn’t have to be cautious with the natural form of the vitamin.

What this blog post will attempt to do in the  “short story” and it’s links is tell  “why”  vitamin D fights cancer and helps prevent someone from getting cancer. Ecologic studies, comparing people in areas of high  versus  low sun exposure; suggest that it can “if” the blood levels are higher then usual. Also studies show those with lower body fat from diet and exercise are also likely to have higher levels of vitamins.

However the understanding to the  “why”  behind this is misunderstood.     It could be that the vitamin is fat soluble,  or it could be because of what they eat  or  how  long  they exercise  and  if  they  see  more  sunlight because of it. Another explanation  might  be  because  being  fat soluble  and  your obese is that the vitamin might be stored in fat cells, tissue and simply can’t be absorb into the blood stream.

What we do know is that vitamin D is strongly associated with decreased cancer risk.  Harvard researchers have estimated that if raising blood levels  of  vitamin D  would  rise  on  average  10ng/ml  (a small amount.)  It  would   it could save  85,000 men  &  women yearly from cancer death.  By  visiting    a physician, or through mail order test… you can have your vitamin D levels tested to ascertain that you have high enough levels (50 to 80 ng.ml.)

People who live  above  the  37 degree latitude  are  considered  especially    at risk.  This includes the Northern United States  and  Canada because levels  of this important vitamin  in the winter are not enough.  Other  studies  show judging from their data,  if Americans were able to maintain vitamin D levels. An estimated 60,ooo cases of colon cancer, and 85,ooo cases of breast cancer and other types could be prevented annually.

Some study authors recommend adults get 2ooo IU (international units) if  vitamin D per day. That’s about 5o micrograms…. which is the tolerable upper intake level set by the U.S.D.A.  Whereas a cup of vitamin D enriched milk has about 2.5 micrograms and most people average between 5 to 10 micrograms.

Since summer sun exposure creates about 20,ooo IU of vitamin D through skin exposure in just 15minutes to 1/2 hour  while some doctors will tell you it takes a 1/2 day to get that amount depending on skin tone.  Evidence indicates the  synthesis  of  vitamin D….  from  sunlight  works  in  a  feedback  loop  that prevents toxicity,  however,  because  of  uncertainity  about  cancer  risk from sunlight  “no” recommendations are issued by the Institute of Medicine.

The science behind vitamin D effect on cancer,  therefore,  can be summed    up in the liver where vitamin D is converted. Calcidiol  the specific vitamin D metabolite  that  is  measured  to  determine  a  person’s vitamin D level. Part of the calcidiol is converted by the kidneys to calcitriol which is the biological active form of vitamin D. Both forms calcidiol and calcitriol were indentified by Michael F. Holick.

Calcitriol  circulates  as  a  hormone  in  the  blood,  while  regulating  the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the blood stream and promoting the healthy growth and remodeling of bones.  Calcidiol,  is also converted to calcitriol outside the kidneys for other purposes,  such as,  the proliferation, differentation and apoptosis of cells. While calcitriol affects neuromuscular function and inflammation.

HOT  TIP  #15  for July:  Vitamin D is essential  and  important for many a health reason.  Therefore,  especially  as  we…  AGE…  become  more  shut-in it’s still vitally important to stay active while getting  at least  1/2 hour  of  the fabulous healing power of sunlight each day.

Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide better known as  NO,  when we eat a protein rich diet that includes  red meat  in  moderation,  fish, poultry,  pork,  soy or tofu,  eggs      and nuts. The digestive enzymes in the intestines break the protein down  into their simplest form. Which  are the many compounds that are called amino acids,  whereas, their are 20 (10 essential and 10 non essential) the two most important are critical.

L-arginine  being  one  of  them  and  L-citrulline  the other,  after which         L-arginine is consumed in the food you eat;  an  enzymatic reaction occurs that converts L- arginine to NO. As the levels of L-arginine increases in the body… so does your production of  NO  which in turn has a dramatic effect   on chronic disease.     How About Another One – Two Punch!!!!

Nitric Oxide is the body’s natural wonder, by saying “yes” to NO and the recommendation for the amino acids. L-arginine and L-citrulline combined with four antioxidants(vitamin C and E also folic acid  and alpha lipoic acid) that can combat  the  disease promoting process called oxidation.

Research shows that  if  you  only  take  L-arginine… you  will  not  receive   the maximum benefit.  Findings  conclude that only by adding it’s synergistic partner L-citrulline your ability to boost  NO  production is greatly enhanced over the effects of L-arginine alone. Therefore when you enhance L- arginine then  L-citrulline  enhances  blood  flow  and  it improves  the  activity  of  the endothelical cell while reducing oxidative damage to the endothelical cell.

Nitric Oxide is used by the immune system to starve off infectious disease, bacteria,  viruses,  and  parasites while controlling the proliferation of certain types of cancerous cells.  NO  is  a  powerful antioxidant deactivating so called  “oxygen free radicals”  in the body that can  also contribute to America’s four leading killers: cancer’ diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

Also white blood cells use nitric oxide,  not only,  to  kill infectious agents, such as,  bacteria,  fungi,  and  parasites,  but also,  to defend the host against tumors.  Scientist  are  currently testing  whether  NO  can be used to stop the growth of tumors since NO can induce programmed cell death “Apotosis.”

Nitric Oxide known by chemist…  it’s  produced  by the body specifically to help keep arteries and veins free of plaque. That cause stroke and to maintain normal blood pressures  by  relaxing arteries,  thereby,  regulating the rate of blood flow  and  preventing coronaries. While  keeping  the  endothelical cells well nourished and blood vessels relaxed.

This can  lower blood pressure and cholestrol, discourage the formation of plaques, while ensuring blood flow and  reduction of inflammation which can lead to atherosclerosis. While the most common site for blood clots are in the carotid arteries…. which is located on either side of the neck.  When this does happen the clots can interfere with normal blood flow  and  deprive the brain cells of oxygen.

The outcome  can  be  free radicals from oxidation,  brain damage,  mental impairment,  dementia,  disability  or  death.  Nitric  Oxide  can  be  crucial  to memory function  because  the brain uses  it  to  store  and  retrieve long term memory, as well as, to transport information. Researchers currently looking into the major role  NO  plays in the prevention of Alzheimers as well.

When L -arginine is synergized with L-citrulline, nitric oxide is increased.  When  NO  is increased,  the  L-arginine  present  in the cells is converted into more   NO,  while  creating  the  by  product L-citrulline  in  the  process.  This by product, along with any additional L-citrulline can be converted back into more L-arginine which is converted into more NO.

Thereby,   this  never  ending  “turbo – charging effect”  of  L-citrulline  to     L-arginine recycling pathway can substantially increase NO into never ending production.  So  with  these high levels of nitric oxide  maybe able  to slow cell proliferations… keeping cancer in holding patterns long enough for the bodys own immune system to prepare and destroy the malignant cells on there own.

A  chronic  surge  of  oxidative stress  appears  to  play  a  big role  in  the promotion  of  cancer  perhaps  because  of  the  damage to DNA  caused by       free radicals. Whereas, there might lie a belief that a powerful antioxidant can derail cancers growth in it’s track naturally as in many types of cancer and keeping it at bay.

Is It Really For Me

Sometimes when we guess wrong…. well we guess wrong and for the many people whom do.  Taking large doses of vitamin C with hopes of boosting their immune system  and  warding off illness,  however,  like  so often  is  the  case. To much of a good thing just might be to much of a good thing and  just might be counter productive.       Does Inositol (IP-6) Really Work???

Researchers  at  Memorial Sloan – Kettering Cancer Center  in  New York studied the effect of vitamins on cancer cells.  As  it  turns  out…  the vitamin seemingly protects,  not only, the healthy cells,  but also, cancer cells as well. Dr. Mark Heaney  and  colleagues  tested five different chemotherapy agents on cancer cells in their laboratory.

In every case, including a test of the powerful “NEW” cancer drug Gleevec, the chemotherapy did not perform as well  “if”  the  cell had been exposed to vitamin C.  The  chemotherapy agents killed   30 to 70  percent  fewer  cancer cells when they  were  treated  prior  with  vitamin C.  Thereby,  for  someone going through vitamin C maybe they should avoid supplementing vitamin C.

Dr. Heaney measured build up of vitamin C levels in cells and said,  “that    levels  of  vitamin C  used in the experiment were similar to those that would result  “if”  a  patient  took  large dosage  of  the vitamin in supplement form. Earlier research at the cancer center showed vitamin C seems to accumulate within cancer cells more than normal cells.”

“Patients should eat a healthy diet that includes foods rich in vitamin C,”  Dr. Heaney went on to say, “however,  it’s the large doses of vitamin C tablet form that is worrisome.” While Dr. Timothy J. Moynihan of the Mayo Clinic states,  “proponents claim  that  large doses  of  vitamin C are toxic to cancer cells,  however, maybe it’s the large doses that can be troublesome.

However….  there are no reliable evidence gathered in human studies to support the theory.  More recently  vitamin C given  intravenously  has been touted to have different effects than vitamin C taken orally. However,  there still  no  evidence  that  supports that vitamin C has any effect on cancer and until  clinical  trials  are  completed  it’s  premature  to  determine what role,  if any, IV vitamin C may play in the treatment of cancer.

The researchers found  that  just like healthy cells  vitamin C  appears  to  repair a cell’s damaged mitochondria,  which being  the energy center of the cell.  When  the mitochondria  is  injuried it sends signals out  that  force the cell to die,  however,  vitamin C interrupts this passage and whether directly  or indirectly all anti – cancer drugs work to disrupt the mitochondria to past cell death.

HOT  TIP  #13  for  July:  What  Solitarius.org  does is get you started on your journey through cancer research. Hopefully when you start compiling your own research on vitamin C.  You’ll quickly begin to realize that the “C” might stand for preventing cancer…. some amazing things are being stated about this important vitamin.

Enzyme Therapy & Cancer

Chemotherapy  drugs  are  by  their  own  omission  extremely  toxic  and typically work  against  your  body’s  natural ability  to  ward  off  cancer while  e.g.  destroying host immunity  instead  of supporting it.   One  of  the  biggest drawbacks of chemotherapy  is  the  fact  it  destroys healthy cells throughout your body right along with cancerous cells.   Targeted Therapy!!!!

Another  devastating  side effect  that often leads to accelerated death and it’s  non –  healing  factor.   Is   the   manner  in  which  it  actually  supports  the  more chemo resistant and malignment cells subpopulation  within  the tumors e.g. cancer stem cells….  both killing  the  more  benign cells  and/or  senescent cells within the tumor that keeps it slow growing  in-check  and harmless.      Does Easy Pha-max Pro-Can Really Work????

As a result this unleashes a more aggressive…. treatment resistant type of cancer to wreak havoc on the body.  A  handful  of  natural  compounds  have been  discovered  which  exhibit  an  effect  called  “selective cytotoxicity” and this type of cancer treatment is intelligent,  targeted and will not result in the death of the patient from collateral damage….  MIGHT be Wrong!!!!

Bromelain…. an  enzyme  extracted  from  “pineapple stem”  that  has  been shown to break down protein…. maybe  as  an  alternative in people who don’t make enough digestive enzymes.  Bromelain  in  some studies  has been found far superior  to  the chemo agent 5 – fluroauracil in treating cancer in animals without causing the harmful side effects.

Eggplant Extract…. Solasodine rhamnosyle glycoside…. being a fancy name (that I have a hard time pronouncing)  from plants  of the “Solanaceae family” such  as  eggplant, tomato,  potato  and  bell peppers.  Also  impact,  only  the   cancerous cells  leaving  normal cells alone  (eggplant extract creams appear to be particularly adapt in treating skin cancer.)    Dr. William E. Cham is a   leading researcher in this area.

The  use of enzymes  to  treat cancer has it’s roots dated all the way back to  1911 with John Beard’s book  “The Enzyme Treatment of Cancer.”  John Beard believed cancer was  a result of  diminished pancreatic enzymes that impaired your immune response. Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez in New York City, N.Y. has also done alot of work with enzymes therapy and cancer.

HOT  TIP  #12  for  July: For the prevention of cancer fortunately you gain many  enzymes  from  the  foods  you  consume  and  in particularly raw foods. Thereby, the more raw foods you consume…. this lowers  the  burden on your body  to  produce  the  enzymes,  not only,  for digestion,  but also,  everything  your body needs to keep it functioning properly.

Alkaline & Acid Balance

The worst cause of your worst health issues… like heart  and  circulation problems… memory loss… weaken immunity… stiff joints… and premature aging could stem from a serious condition  called  acid  overload.  This acid overload can also lead to irregular digestion and bowel movements,  while causing you to be more fatiqued.

Just as acid can ruin a car battery  and  burn your skin with prolonged exposure on your skin… increased acidity in your cells and tissues can eat away at the lining of your arteries.  While increasing your chances of both brain and cardio vascular disease.

High levels of acidity can also erode cartilage  and  cause inflamed joints      while damaging skin cells  which  can  contribute  to  premature wrinkling and aging issues.  Therefore,  your  body  works  at it best when you’re in a state of alkaline and acid balance.

To  prevent acidity  you should eat acid forming foods  only in moderation  (high –  fat meals,   processed foods,   fried foods,   refined sugar,  pasteurized dairy  and white four products.) The pH “potential of hydrogen,” is measured  in relativity of acidity  and  alkalinity  with  7  to 7.5  being  perfectly  balanced and  0 to 7  indicating acidity and from  7  to  14 alkalinity.

HOT TIP  #11  for  July:   While adding more nutritious alkaline foods like      fruits,  veggies,  whole grains  and  high fiber foods.  If  you follow the 80/20 rule where you consume 80 percent alkaline foods and only 20 percent acid  forming foods  you  would  see a difference  in  your pH balance  in  no  time. Limit soda pop…. because  of  the  empty  calorie  content  and  the negatives     it has on your pH balance
