SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WYFF) – Riley was diagnosed with stage four adrenal cortical carcinoma in September 2020 and got the alarming news. This Simpsonville family is asking for global prayers for their 4-year-old daughter battling a rare form of cancer.
1 in a million people and even less common in children. “We noticed she was gaining weight and we were alarmed by how much weight she was gaining,”
Riley’s father Matt Steep said. Adrenocortical carcinoma, stage 4…started in both adrenal glands, moved to lungs then liver, part of liver removed. “They found her tumor on her adrenal gland,” Riley’s grandmother Tiffany Page said.
“It was the size of two grapefruits.” Page says they visited doctors all over the East Coast, but says some told them the tumors were inoperable. In September, she says they found doctors who could remove tumors on Riley’s adrenal gland, as well as three tumors in her lungs.
Riley’s family says she also went through four rounds of chemotherapy and had countless tests, scans and blood work done. Her father says the chemotherapy didn’t seem to be working. Page took to social media to share Riley’s story and ask for support.
They’ve gotten support from people all around the world over the last several months.
The saddest thing in the world is a child suffering with an awful disease.
Dear Heavenly Father, we humbly ask that you please have mercy on this
poor child and her family and if possible, relieve them of this horrible burden.

Lord, restore this baby from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet 
. Give her back a long-full life and ease her pain. Amen 
“When I found out she had cancer, I felt extremely helpless,” she said. “Like I couldn’t fix the problem.” Page says she started asking for global prayer. She says they’ve since gotten support in the forms of cards, messages and care packages from people around the world. While they continued to receive prayers, Riley’s family searched for doctors who had other treatments available.
Steep says they connected with other families through social media who
were going through the same thing, and found a hospital in New York.
Steep says his daughter started immunotherapy in December.
They make a road trip up to the hospital in New York every three weeks and are due back this weekend. Right now, he says she still has some extremely small tumors, but they’re asking everyone to keep praying for Riley.

Riley Faith Steep of Greenville, received the Order of the Silver Crescent Award Tuesday, Watch | Facebook the state’s most prestigious service award, for creating “Riley’s Cozy Comfy Mission.” Riley Faith’s parents are Matthew and Rachael Steep. “Nobody’s promised tomorrow,” Steep said. “Every day everybody wakes up, you just never know what life’s going to bring.” Riley needs a miracle from God to survive.

Riley got a blood transfusion on May 31, 2023. She said it felt cold going in,
so, I’m cold blooded. It was given to her through an IV since her port was removed.
She had more energy afterwards. She wants to try to go to school tomorrow.
