Esophageal and Kidney Cancer

Esophageal Cancer: there are various subtypes, primarily squamous cell cancer (approx. 90 – 95% of all esophageal cancer worldwide) and  adeno- carcinoma approx. 50 – 60%  of  all esophageal cancer in the United States. Heavy  tobacco  and/or  alcohol  accounts  for  approximately  90%  of  all  esophageal adenoscarcinoma,  although,  no  scientific evidence  has  been  found between alcohol and esophageal adenocarcinoma.

Studies  have  shown  a  relationship  between   frequency  of  reflux symptoms  and  risk  of  esophageal  adenocarcinoma.  The constant acid reflux will irriate the lining of the esophagus and complication can occur, such  as  Barrett’s esophagus. Those individuals whom develope  Barrett’s esophagus are more than  40 times  likely to develope esophagael cancer.
